1) They serve as warnings:- pictures of robber lynched or an accident will always come into the minds of people when ever they dare think of over speeding or stealing as the case may be

it will always remind them of that car that lost control and how it ended up destroyed their by forcing fear and cautious ness into them while driving

2) is good for reference we are in the 21 century where people delight in lies and deceit without pictures most news would be damed false

3) it compels the right authorities to so the right thing
accidents like this are due to bad roads and pictures like this will be used to hunt the proper authorities till such roads and project are carried out

4) its serves as evidence in case some other mischief comes up

The acting Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana, Adekunbi Sonaike Ayodeji, has disclosed the killing of seven Fulani Nigerian herdsmen in Ghana.
Addressing a news conference in Accra, Commissioner Ayodeji said the Fulani herdsmen were killed when they clashed with some farmers in some parts of the country.
She said the Commission will take responsibility in part for the activities of the herdsmen because some of them are citizens of Nigeria.
She sympathized with the farmers whose economic life is destroyed by activities of these Fulani herdsmen.
However, Commissioner Ayodeji has refuted claims by some Ghanaians that activities of Fulani herdsmen are responsible for the destruction of some farms in Ghana.
“It will be unfair to say everything is being caused by these Fulani herdsmen. There are roles played by even the nationals,” she said.
Commissioner Ayodeji blamed the whipping of sentiments by the Ghanaian media which she said is responsible for the recent hostility activities against Fulani herdsmen.
She called on the government to collaborate with the High Commission to resolve the issue before it takes a different proportion.

I was just reading the posts but since you mentioned the bolded, I just had to respond. It is very understandable if the children of soldiers are awarded scholarships or compensated. How many children of soldiers have the Nigerian government compensated ?
If children of soldiers are awarded scholarships, I don't think people here will complain because I believe they deserve it more than anyone else. The US you mentioned will not grant automatic employment to the children of ministers or those of senators. I've not heard of such. You can correct me if you know of any.
I'm not here to condemn what the government did or commend them. Nothing can replace the life that was lost.
