Lagos—Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old pregnant woman who allegedly stabbed her husband to death during a quarrel over who would emerge winner between the Peoples Democratic Party and All Progressives Congress, APC presidential candidates, while voting was on-going , weekend, at Ejigbo area of the state.

The scene

The incident, which threw the densely populated area into disarray, occurred at about 12noon inside the couple’s one room apartment at 81 Military zone junction.

There were different accounts on how tragedy struck. A version of the account said the couple had divergent views on their choice of presidential candidates. While the husband was said to have decided to vote for the PDP, his wife, simply called Onyiyechi, reportedly chose to vote for the presidential candidate of the APC.

An argument which degenerated into a fight over whose choice would hold sway reportedly ensued between them.
In the process, Onyiyechi allegedly stabbed her husband with a kitchen knife in the chest region.
Another version said the deceased, whose identity could not be immediately ascertained, told his pregnant wife to take the okro she was grating inside the room, to the veranda which also served as kitchen , an instruction she reportedly disobeyed, following which an argument which led to a fight occurred.

Visit to the scene

When Vanguard visited the scene of the incident yesterday, the couple’s apartment was under lock . Their neighbours however described the suspect as an amicable person who had never quarreled with anyone since she moved into the building.
One of the tenants who spoke on condition of anonymity told Vanguard that they did not witness how the suspect allegedly stabbed her husband.
But he explained that : “ We were all outside waiting to vote when Onyiyechi rushed out, shouting for help. Out of curiosity, we all ran inside, only to discover blood all over the ground, on entering their apartment.

”On closer observation, we noticed that the blood was from her husband chest region. We met him on the ground. Before we could rush him to the hospital, he gave up the ghost.
Perhaps, he would have survived the attack had Onyiyechi called for help early. From all indication, it was clear that she attempted to manage the situation immediately the incident occurred.

It was when she discovered that the situation had overwhelmed her that she raised alarm.
”I do not know the name of her husband. We only know that of his wife, who we fondly call Onyiyechi

The irony of this matter is that she is not cantankerous.

”She has never beaten a little child, let alone to fight with any neighbor. Again on that day, we saw both of them together. They were seen sitting outside, one hour before the incident occurred. Policemen from Ejigbo later came to move the corpse to the Isolo morgue”.

I dont know, and im not sure but I think the financial industry is bigger than the IT industry in Nigeria and there are too many experts in IT already. Although both are good industries but I feel a career in Finance would get you in almost any company in Nigeria compare to IT where there are many gurus. What do you think?

Financial industry is big just as you said. I would advise you to find out from some one in the financial sector which course is much in demand. (Financial Maths is one of them)

But I unlike most people believe, you must not end up in the academia. People are ignorant about the career paths for a Mathematician. IT is a cool also cos it gives you room for creativity.

APC and violence. Is this the change they are talking about? Resorting to violence when things do not turn out in their favour. Amaechi has truly failed. When you are dissatisfied with election results you go to court in lieu of burning inec building. That is grossly unacceptable. The pig above is saying Amaechi's name wasn't mentioned. Anybody who does an act through another is deemed to have done it himself.

Don't mind them. I don't know what's wrong with a lot of people in here.

People have to be wery of Amaechi and Tinubu. These people are not good. APC love violence and they see nothing wrong in it.

Gej should investigate that goat called Amaechi. He should end up in jai. People should open their eyes. What change does Amaechi and Tinubu have to offer.

Apc has been consistent in saying that PDP has ruled Nigeria for 16 disastrous years in which corruption, impunity, insurgency, armed robbery and several ills of society held sway.
But at a very close look at the APC, I am seeing:

1. Rotimi Amaechi – 8 years speaker; 7 years, Governor under PDP.
2. Atiku Abubakar – 8 years Vice president under PDP.
3. George Akume – 8 years Governor under PDP.
4. Bukola Saraki – 8 years Governor; 2 years, Senator under PDP.
5. Timipre Sylver – 4 years Governor under PDP.
6. Audu Ogbe – 2 years Chairmanship of the PDP.
7. Aminu Masari – 4 years as the Speaker, House of Representatives under PDP.
8. Chris Ngige – 3 years Governor under PDP.
9. Rabiu Kwankwaso – 7 years Governor; 3 years Defense minister under PDP.
10. El Rufai – 4 years FCT Minister; 2 years BPE chairman under PDP.
11. And to cap it all, Obasanjo is the navigator of the APC,
a man who spent 8 of the disastrous 16 years as the maximum ruler of Nigeria.
It is now clearer that APC is a waste basket of the PDP,
where the people who created and perpetuated the 16 disastrous years are now dumped.
So where is the change coming from?
Are they now saints because they joined APC?
