The likes of Obj, who claims to be a good friend of Mandela, IBB and Abacha are the major culprits.
We need to demand accountability from them. It's not only Abacha's loot they shud recover. We was OBj , IBB and so on.

bb4522: First of all I am a northerner from north east precisely. Am very delighted and strongly concur with what Prof said. Its bizzare that we don't want to accept the fact and reality of life. Am not stunned with some of my notherners' comments here. The Prof raised some very important points which can ONLY be understood by "sound minds" and interlectuals. The north rule for long but its still looking like a dungeon except for few states. All what we do most is to critizes both religion and oppress the poor. Religion has played a major downfall of the entire north. In my state politics is viewed same as religion, its saddens my heart when due people are not placed at the right government positons unless he/she is of same religion. The second point I want to raise is lack of positive investment by our looters( senators, reps, governors etc), MAJORITY depend solely on government jobs to better our lives than to start business on our own. Our people steal our money fail to invest it in the north, build fine houses and go for luxury vacations abroad and YET we blame Mr President. My senator for 8yrs did not drill a single borehole and yet when ever his back home pple gather and chants his name like that of the Prodigal son. The truth is always bitter, some comments here sound very hilarious. Am not supporting the south bt I believe they too have their own problems. Go to saudi, dubai, qatar etc today and see for ur self or watch TV if u can't afford, to view how pple extend helping hands to the society. Am not surprise to see Dangote's invertments are mostly in the southern part of the country. My friends when educated minds like Prof Talk not every degree holder may comprehend. Not every degree holder pass tru school ooo, some na school pass tru them e.g flizznation
Or rather they degree holders passed thru school but school did not pass through them. Thank God that you are very objective. Next time you'll start hearing PDP did this, PDP did that.

Christianity Etc › Re: The Phenomenon Of Generational Trends. by vislabraye(op): 1:22am On Dec 10, 2013
Let's discuss both the positive and -ve trends.
That reminds me, Bruce Lee died while filming a movie. His son also died in the middle of a movie.
There's also a family of many accountants (they just have the natural flare for it )
Christianity Etc › The Phenomenon Of Generational Trends. by vislabraye(op): 1:17am On Dec 10, 2013
I've studied the scriptures and also from experience, I've come to realize there's something called generational trends. Whether it is physical or spiritual, its a phenomenon.

For instance, Abraham lied that his wife was his sister. And guess what, Isaac also committed that same lie. In fact, Jacob was more than a liar, he was deceitful.

Abraham's wife suffered barreness and Isaac's wife Rebacca went thru the same ordeal. Jacob's second wife also had difficulty in child bearing.

Another strange thing is that Abraham's elder brother, his father's first born was not blessed as compared to Abraham. The same thing happened to Abraham's first born Ishmael. Isaac was the child of promise instead of Ishmael.
Isaac first son Esau was not blessed but the blessing went to Jacob.
Let's not focus on the -ve alone. When Paul was addressing Timothy, he commended his good character which he inherited from his parents.

In these present day, I have seen some kind of trends in some families. There's a family where the sons never do well. There's another where the daughters don't get married on time.
If you have noticed anything similar, feel free to contribute.

pak: First off, God is answerable to know one, and he can choose to speak through a donkey if he so wishes.

But God through scriptures has established patterns with which He intends to deal with his children in the dispensation of the Holy Spirit

From a spiritual perspective, what do you think 'old men denote'.
Men and women, who will fulfill God's agenda in this time and age, will run with visions and prophetic words......write the vision and make it plain upon the tablets, (Hab 2).

Sorry I sound harsh, but this is why many fail exams. Was she a believer ? Was she under the new covenant ?

Pls clear this misconception, the new testament did not start after Malachi. Joseph was very much an old testament man. The new testament started between the time the curtain of the temple was rent and the day of pentecost. Everybody before then, except Jesus of course, operated under the old testament.

The old testament was still fully in operation as at this period !!!!!!!!
I agree with you that he quoted the Old Testaments. But does that mean God CAN NOT speak to his children thru dreams in sovereignty ?
If the miracles that happened in OT also happened in NT, I see no reason why God can't decide to speak to whom ever thrU dream. Don't forget, God spoke to Paul thru dreams !!

If U study Engr and come out with a 2:2 , Maths or Statistics, employers will more likely look ur way especially if U know what ur doing.
But funny think is that I know someone who came out with a 1st class in Maths. After service in the East, he got a bank job there. After several years, he got tired of the East and wAnted to relocate elsewhere but he was not granted his desire. He ended up resigning and relocated to Lagos. After a year without job, he managed to get a marketing job somewhere.

Getting a good grade is the 1st step. But being lucky is another step.

malc619: The foolish Prof blames Islam for the backwardness of the North, then I wonder if he'll blame Christianity for the under-development and large scale poverty and illiteracy in Bayelsa state...
What are you thinking ? He never blamed Islam, he rather praised other Islamic Nations for their development as a proof that Islam is not against modernization.
For instance in those Moslem nations he mentioned, have you heard of suicide bombers, terrorist upsurge or Boko Haram insurgence ? Bin Laden who is from Saudi Arabia was driven away from his country because of his radical beliefs.
Yes, I expect you to talk about other states in Nigeria as not being better.
But I must remind you that the violence in the North is the bane to civilization.

tellwisdom: Pastor is it possible I receive the Holy Spirit online?? Please pray for me. Today is Sunday
U can receive any where. God is not limited by space or time. You can say a little prayer and ask God to fill you. As long as you believe, it is possible.
Christianity Etc › Re: The 9 Supernatural Gifts Of The Holy Spirit by vislabraye(m): 3:27pm On Dec 08, 2013
Prosphecy is another interesting gift. It's the ability to speak inspired word. The prophets of old usually manifested in such. The Holy Spirit speaks to people or someone with the voice of another person.
If I prophesy, it means the Holy Spirit will speak using my voice as if He were the one speaking. I'm just a vessel or a medium. This gift is not exclusive to the pastors.
@Op, I won't totally disagree with your first definition about it.
Christianity Etc › Re: The 9 Supernatural Gifts Of The Holy Spirit by vislabraye(m): 3:14pm On Dec 08, 2013
This is a very interesting topic. I wished it had come to the front page on a morning other than Sunday.

@poster : I don't agree with some of your definitions. It's either they were vague or not on point.
For instance the "Word of wisdom, Word of Knowledge and Healing. These are Supernatural Gifts and it's exclusive to believers only.

Word of wisdom is the ability of understanding or explaining mysterious events or circumstances. Joseph and Daniel displayed this gift by interpreting dreams. It's also possible to interprete visions or read signs. That's what I think. There are also other dimensions to
it.

Word Of Knowledge is the ability to know something without being told. This is one of the most common gifts, but there are different level. I know of a pastor when giving when ministering actually calls a person by his name (they've never met before ) and describe his problem to him. Jesus displayed this gift when speaking to Nataniel.

SQURA: Girl go fo it. My verdict is an Excellent relationship but with effort from you too.

You are Aries and he is Leo

If you havent started kicking it with him, it will be pretty soon, because there is an instantaneous, and fiery attraction between an aries girl and mr leo. Hmm there is also intense passion and absorption in each other, you and your guy. you guys might even forget what the world looks like when two of you are inside the (let me reserve my comment). But watch out, trouble could spring up because he longs for constant and continous admiration and also been seen as the KING of your castle, because you are not naturally demonstrative. If you love him, and i mean real love, please dont resent his love for praises and flattery, because that is his weak/strongest point. Aim at being his greatest admirer and he will never leave you. But he has a tactful way to handle your restlessness and need for mental stimulation. Though he might be occasionally arrogant and patronising, those traits are part of his personality, and he would let you know.
He enjoys sex and is very adaptable, but when he takes the lead, you will love it. Make him open minded to suggestions you will make though.
For real, this is one hell of a love affair.
Lol. Interesting. Which one is bad for her then ?

Education › Re: Iyayi: ASUU Members Boo Reverend Father In Benin by vislabraye(m): 12:24pm On Dec 07, 2013
utumunta: I think ASUU should proceed to Rome and boo the Pope too. Lecturers are now conducting themselves like agberos.

I have asked this question before and I am asking again : who is ASUU fighting for? What is ASUU fighting for?

1. Is ASUU fighting for the student who had been receiving amputated lectures, half- heartedly, from half- baked lecturers?

2. Is ASUU fighting the school administrations that misappropiate the funds designated to improving eduction in the universities?

3. Is ASUU fighting fellow members that refuse to attend classes, sell hand outs and ruin the lives of the female students?

I do not support a govt that fails to honour agreements. President Jonathan mismanaged the ASUU strike cos he ought not to have allowed it linger up to this moment before negotiating with ASUU and offering what he did and if they refuse, back it up with the sack of those lecturers. The strike has exposed him as a weak leader and this is why ASUU is trying to push him to the wall today.

Since ASUU has elected to cut it's nose to spite it's face, the govt should honour it's agreement with them. Unless the govt too does not have pity for the students, just like ASUU (none has the interest of the students at heart). Let the govt use the 1st year of implementation of the agreement to expose ASUU for the fraud that they are. Beam the searchlight on them and let the students and parents monitor how the funds are spent. I bet ASUU would fail this test.

ASUU has become an unruly horse and only a man of tact can ride it to safety. I pity Nigerian students cos if a provoked houseboy cannot match his wicked master strenght to strenght, he maims his master's favourite cat. Nigerian students have become the govt's favourite cat and ASUU is bent on not only maiming it, but killing and burying it, to get back at the master.
I agrEe with you a lot on this issue. ASUU is being very disagreeable here.
GEJ's administration is the most sincere with ASUU. He has offered what the previous administration has not offered. It's not that ASUU members are saints as they want us to believe.
GEJ should be tough on them. Imagine if this happened under OBJ. OBJ does not even send the rule of law talkless of honouring agreement. At least GEJ is willing to do something +ve on this issue. Mind you, ASUU has always been going on strike.
The Universities can not be transformed over night. GEJ should implement no work, no pay.
