Chelsea slumped to their first pre-season defeat on Sunday as they were beaten 3-0 by Werder Bremen in Germany to spoil the return of Didier Drogba and the debut of goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. John Obi Mikel was introduced for Van Ginkel in the second half and played the last 15 minutes of the match as a central defender following the withdrawal of John Terry. Ivory Coast legend Drogba made his first appearance for Chelsea since scoring the penalty that won the 2012 Champions League in Munich when he came on as a second-half substitute for summer signing Diego Costa. However, Jose Mourinho’s side were already 2-0 down at that point and Drogba’s return ended in a tame defeat at the Weserstadion. Blues captain John Terry conceded a soft penalty after 20 minutes when he needlessly blocked the ball with his arm and Dutch winger Eljero Elia stepped up to plant his spot-kick past Belgian ‘keeper Courtois, who has joined up with Chelsea after a long-term loan at Atletico Madrid. It got worse for the visitors 17 minutes later when Terry was again implicated as Polish winger Ludovic Obraniak darted past the static centre-half to glance a header past Courtois. Mourinho made several changes at the break, including the introductions of Drogba and Branislav Ivanovic, while Eden Hazard entered the fray in the second half. Bremen won a second penalty in the last minute when Dutch defender Nathan Ake was punished for what appeared to be a fair challenge but it didn’t matter to Felix Kroos, who stroked the ball past substitute ‘keeper Petr Cech from 12 yards. Chelsea, who had previously registered four wins and a draw in pre-season, continue their preparations with a game against Hungarian side Ferencvaros in Budapest next Sunday. Their opening Premier League game will be away to promoted Burnley on Monday, August 18. |
anitank: But the Liberian man said he didn't come in contact with an Ebola patient nor go to the funeral of one, he's not even a health worker. He visited his sick sister who died of the virus, and he even attended her funeral. |
In order to help our Embassy Community better understand some of the key points about the Ebola virus we have consulted with our medical specialists at the U S State Department and assembled this list of bullet points worded in plain language for easy comprehension. Our medical specialists remind everyone that they should be following the guideline from the center for Disease Control and the World Health Organisation. • The suspected reservoirs for Ebola are fruit bats. • Transmission to humans is thought to originate from infected bats or primates that have become infected by bats. • Undercooked infected bat and primate (bush) meat transmits the virus to humans. • Human to human transmission is only achieved by physical contact with a person who is acutely and gravely ill from the Ebola virus or their body fluids. • Transmission among humans is almost exclusively among caregiver family members or health care workers tending to the very ill. • The virus is easily killed by contact with soap, bleach, sunlight, or drying. A washing machine will kill the virus in clothing saturated with infected body fluids. • A person can incubate the virus without symptoms for 2-21 days, the average being 5-8 days before becoming ill. THEY ARE NOT CONTAGIOUS until they are acutely ill. • Only when ill does the viral load express itself first in the blood and then in other bodily fluids (to include vomit, feces, urine, breast milk, semen and sweat). • If you are walking around you are not infectious to others. • There are documented cases from Kikwit, DRC of an Ebola outbreak in a village that had the custom of children never touching an ill adult. Children living for days in small one room huts with parents who died from Ebola did not become infected. • You cannot contract Ebola by handling money, buying local bread or swimming in a pool. • There is no medical reason to stop flights, close borders, restrict travel or close embassies, businesses or schools. • As always practice good hand washing techniques, but you will not contract Ebola if you do not touch a dying person. • US EMBASSY Please share this information with your friends and families and try not to spread panic on social media. Thanks |
