It started around 5am in my part of Lagos. Needless to say I was green with envy by 7am sitting at my office just thinking about all those who have the luxury to chill in bed. ![]() |
tempest01: SmhI shake it with you my brother! All I can think about is all the secondary contacts the lady who sneaked ti Enugu came in contact with. We are in trouble ![]() |
Please go and do the test again in 2 different hospitals. Don't forget that people can be infected through other meas besides engaging in unprotected sex. How do you shave regularly, do you own your own personal shaving kits? Do you always insist on using your own kits at barbing salons? Have you assisted any bleeding person in the past 2 years or so? Good luck |
What do they mean by "he had recovered" o? ![]() |
Fresh facts emerged yesterday that three new suspected cases of the deadly ebola virus disease have been discovered in Kaduna and Lagos states. Four more patients who had been undergoing treatment for the disease at the Lagos treatment centre, were discharged after they had been certified free of the disease. Briefing journalists at the Infectious Disease Hospital located in Yaba area of Lagos, the Lagos State commissioner for health, Dr Jide Idris, said they have 12 confirmed cases which included the index and all the other cases that had tested positive. The commissioner said, “As at yesterday, we have three new suspected cases. And one of them is a blood sample from Kaduna State while the two others are from Lagos, and they are primary contact. One reason for this was that they do not have the laboratory to test for the virus. “What we have now is that there are four people dead, including the index (Mr Patrick Sawyer). We have eight in the isolation ward before the Saturday when we released the doctor. And this doctor was released after testing negative and going through the World Health Organization and Centre for Disease Control procedures for discharge.” Idris added, “We have four more patients that are ready for discharge, and they have gone through the same protocol — the protocol is that before we release anyone or certified him or her negative, he or she has to be symptoms-free for over three days. Also, we had to test their blood and the result proved negative of the virus. “They will be released today (yesterday) after they have completed their counselling exercise being conducted by our psychosocial team. But they will come periodically for checkups, though they are okay.” He revealed that the other three patients were still being monitored at the isolation centre, saying once they got better they would be released. On the suspected nurse that ran to Enugu State, Idris said, “The lady who ran to Enugu is still under isolation and she has tested positive to the virus.” ![]() Asked the treatment given to the patients, he said, “There is no specific treatment for Ebola virus disease, EVD. We treat the patients based on the presentation. For instance, if the patients show symptoms of diarrhoea, he or she has to be treated with electrolyte and others. If the person shows signs of pains, he will be given drugs on pains. We have enough drugs to take care of them. “If they require intensive care, we will do that. This is part of the equipment that has been brought in. They will be provided with such.” He explained that medical personnel had increased, saying: “At the moment, we have gotten more medical personnel to care for the patients. We have eight doctors and nine nurses and some health workers who have gone through the training. “We have also been joined by infectious disease experts from Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH). All these people have gone through the training, though the number is not enough; we need more. Source: http://nigeriana.org, 20th Aug 2014 |

Nnamdini: i agree with you dear but you will be amazed how much ignorant so many people are concerning this virus in this part of the world.the reasons i included every social organisation & especially religious ones are that most people in the rural areas dont listen to or hear news.so these places i mentioned above are the best meduims to reach out to themSo true |
Nnamdini: The dangerous part of this virus is that somebody somehwere that is postive without even knowing is walking about freely infecting other people.we need more enlightenment not only from the government but every other social & religious institutions to curb this evilA person does not become infectious until they start seeing symptoms of the disease. And one of the first symptoms is a high fever that knocks the patient down in such a way that mere walking along happily on the street, is difficult. Remember Sawyer had to be tested for HIV and Malaria in Togo when he first showed signs of illness. Comon man, there has been so much information on Ebola both online and in print the past few weeks. |
Thank you for giving the ultimate sacrifice to save countless others. RIP Dr Ameyo |
We still have borders in the South West where foreign nationals across West Africa can seemingly stroll through? What on earth is the matter with this government. Its like we purposely try to be the architects of our own destruction. ![]() |

Nothing, absolutely nothing can justify the inhumane murder of an innocent civilian. And then make it public fodder for the world. Pure Evil! RIP James Foley. May your killers never go unpunished! ![]() |
RIP dear Doctor. A needless death if only Patrick Sawyer hadn't been so irrational. Her poor family... |

iamord: U can say that again.. Glorious memories.. But now I only tune to local ttv stations. The likes of channels stv and tvc to watch local news. after that I am outHahahaha. I get all my local news online and on the radio on my way to the office. Strictly cable tv now. It's nothing too brag about. Its too bad. Even if i manage to tune into a Nigerian tv for news (like during the Occupy Nigeria saga), the entire atmosphere - station clarity, background noise, cramp look of the reporting desk etc just put me off. |
Macaulay Culkin and Gary Coleman (RIP) from "Different Strokes" |

For no. 2, the mind boggles! As for No. 9, how often do such solar flares occur within galaxies and if one had occured as early as 30,000 years ago, how come the earth was not affected afterall the Moon was already a satellite at that point and the distance from the earth is just 20-smtg odd days away? |
Bunch of confusionists! ![]() |
