I used to see him every single weekday in the late '70s and 1980s. He used to busk on Igbosere Road and Broad Street on Lagos Island. I had Ekwensi's book, but it was not until the 1990s that I discovered that the book was loosely based on Kokoro.

What amazed me the most about him was that he knew the streets so well that he could walk around unaccompanied.

Honestly, you may need to up your budget small.
Was gisting with a pal just this morning who works in VI but can't seem to get a mini flat around Obanikoro/Palmgrove for N350k.
I will however advice you to consider Ebutte Metta, Ketu Alapere, Fadeyi and Onipan areas. Yaba and surulere are a no-go for ur budget for now.
But for traffic, would have advised Iyana ipaja, Agege and egebda.

Because of the nature of my job, online shopping has been my saving grace for almost 5yrs now. Nearly every electronic item including groceries (gloo.ng.com ) in my house (even furniture) are purchased online.
Its so damn convenient and I would rather pay an extra token for that convenience than going to a physical market or store.
Now that amazon UK and US have outsourced their shipments directly to doorsteps, I can't wait to start shopping directly from their websites.
