Imagine you are the king of the tiny army unit (in the red line). You have to defeat the gargantuan army outside the red line (enemy). Is the larger enemy army efficient? - It is the strongest army of the entire ancient world - The Persians. OK. So, no chance right? But did I just tell you who the king of the smaller army was - Alexander, the great. Still no chance? Let’s see. The Battle of Gaugamela This wasn’t just any battle, this was to change the future forever. If you and I exist in the way we do, it is because of this one battle. It was Alexander the great vs Darius, the king of Persia - Alexander’s biggest battle ever.Besides,Darius was using elephants too -creatures Alexander’s men had never seen before. The Tactic As soon as the war started, Alexander did the craziest thing ever. He, along with a small section of his army started galloping on their horses to the extreme right of the battlefield. His remaining army stayed where it was. This move puzzled Darius. He ordered a large chunk of his army to chase Alexander, while his remaining army attacked that part of Alexander’s army that hadn’t fled. Darius remained where he was with a small unit . This is exactly what Alexander wanted. He kept galloping away, with the enemy chasing him. All of a sudden, he turned his horse and started galloping straight towards Darius. His men followed. You see what he did? He removed one part of Darius’ army by making them chase him. The other part was busy fighting with his army unit that hadn’t fled with him. And just when the enemy chasing him got close, he turned his direction and ran towards Darius, with the chasing enemy behind him. Darius stood there, with a not-very-large army unit. He couldn’t believe what just unfolded before his eyes. Alexander was galloping towards him, like a maniac. Darius did the most sensible thing - he fled. And thus ended the Battle of Gaugamela. It wasn’t as smooth as you would imagine, it was brutal, but the mere fact that 60,000 Persian soldiers were killed while only 900 of Alexander’s men died, is hair-raising. Weak spot of the tactic This tactic had one serious weak spot. What if Darius had NOT sent his army unit to chase down the fleeing Alexander and had retained them near him? That would be the end of Alexander. But Alexander was aware of this. He just HAD to take the gamble. Alexander’s conquests left no community, no tribe untouched. He influenced every culture. Had he lost this war, the world wouldn’t be the way it is today.

Antoeni:Una day just type. The attack on Iraq, Libya and Vietnam was from their Presidents and they questioned them selves for that. Putin might have nukes for sure and most of those nukes comes from Ukraine what made you actually think that Ukraine actually relinquish those weapons and not have any connections to it (my theory though) but no body is afraid of Putin cause he has the power in his hand to act first and trust me the response will be his demise. I know most of you don't know the meaning of MAD? |
Odewaleadesoye:Make Putin calm down abeg. This matter don day get out of hand. |
planetx:Oboy waything you want? Nigeria get AIT, Channels, NTA etc. So those are propaganda free channels? Oboy for your info, CNN is own by someone/groups and not the US. So stop associating their shit with the entire country. |
Emmyxclusive:Bro you hit the nail on the head, if they give them those weapons next day we go hear say Boko Haram raid their camp then carry everything. This country needs deliverance.
|
Elvictor:Trash!!! You guys are the ones filling up your minds with trash, nobody or country is a saint even the US made mistakes (from their previous president) and questioned themselves later e.g the Vietnam and Libya shit. If US try this shit too other countries will sanction them. It's as simple as that, with all the so called propagandas you guys are spilling on them they are still not the richest country on earth. |
There were always some little problems that occupied my mind: “Is four magazines really enough or should I have packed a fifth one?” “What happens when the machine gunner gets wounded and I have to take over? I never handled this weapon!” “Soldier X’s knee looks really bad. There's some blood and he’s already limping. Shall I tell him to go back to safety and see a medic?” “What am I doing here?” U.S. soldiers during a combat patrol in Tal Afar, Iraq, 2006. (Photo: US Army) Thanks to these little insecurities, I never had much time to think about the real problems: “What happens if the next artillery shell falls straight on my head? Will I feel anything?” “Will I ever see my family/girlfriend/mother/etc. again?” And, last but not least, the old classic: “What the f**k am I doing here?” There’ll be a point in time in every combat soldier's career when they have this thought. |
I heard this SAS are highly skilled and are the only troops the US marines fear to go against due to their discipline. |
Five heavily armed terrorists attack a busy hotel and business park in the Kenyan capital, one of the group triggers his suicide vest at 14:30. The other 4 terrorists split into teams of two and moved into the hotel, indiscriminately shooting unarmed civilians with assault rifles, throwing grenades, and they slaughter everyone in sight. Enter an unnamed lone British SAS trooper who was stationed nearby, attached to Kenyan special forces in a training capacity. Let's call him Chris. Chris heard gunfire and raced to the scene, when he arrived he opened his emergency battle bag, and wearing jeans, trainers and a fancy shirt, he strapped up for war, equipping himself with his customized Canadian made rifle, silencer and all. Chris enabled all perks and weapon attachments, although he didn't stoop low enough for aim hack, that's only for losers. He quickly established contact with local police and army who were struggling to deal with the chaotic situation, officers from the Kenyan special forces who knew perfectly well that Chris was a veteran counter terrorist operator, who had served in Afghanistan, Syria and Iraq, requested his assistance. Chris contacted the British High commission and reportedly said; “Send me in, I'm here.” “This guy got there quick, he was one of the first there. He had on a mask but it was obvious he was white. We could see him talking to the police and army and they listened to him.” - A survivor of the attack. Given the green light, the veteran wasted no time, and at no thought to his own life or the danger he would face operating alone, he entered the fray. Within minutes the SAS trooper returned carrying a wounded man, and shouting for help, before bravely going back into the maelstrom of cruelty. “This man carried out one of the wounded then went back and did that again. There was a lot of confusion, lots of people running around, but he stood out because he was a foreigner. He was very brave.” - Lucy Njeri, witness. The presence of this highly experienced SAS veteran, his operational guidance, brave actions and cooperation with his Kenyan Special forces colleagues, inspired a quick response. Within no time, the Kenyan Police and Army began moving in and rescuing the survivors. After aiding the wounded and helping survivors to flee, Chris now aware of the vague location of a pair of the murderous AK wielding lunatics, entered the building and started to clear smoke filled rooms, floor by floor, all by himself. WTF, guys, he's going in alone! I shit you not lads, we've got John Wick on our side. Moving through the lower floors, treading on broken glass and passing dead corpses, Chris located two of the terrorists, and getting into a strong position, he peekaboo’d around a wall, and with expert marksmanship dropped one of the pair, his silenced gun barely making a sound. He continued to silently move forwards, clearing rooms as he hunted the second terrorist, he didn't need to search the building for long, because the brave SAS soldier killed the second AK armed terrorist with brutal efficiency. Meanwhile the Kenyan special forces and police had trapped the two remaining terrorists in a building, and after rescuing civilians hiding, they stormed the last two terrorists, killing both. 22 civilians died in the attack and another 27 were wounded. All 5 terrorists were killed, with no losses amongst the security forces. The unnamed SAS soldier, would receive the Conspicuous Gallantry Cross, for his bravery in combat, an award second only to the Victoria Cross. It's believed he served for 18 years. From Quora.

When their push is slow with the current troops they have. For context, Ukrainian troops outnumber the numbers of Russian troops massed at the border before the war? Because most personnel of any army looks like this: Non-combat tasks include mowing the grass Fewer than one in ten soldiers in any army are combat personnel. In modern armies the ratio is closer to one in fifteen. The rest are mechanics, cooks, laundrymen, medics, truck drivers, security personnel, firefighters and more. You have judges, lawyers, criminal investigators, microbiologists, psychotherapists (one word), civil engineers, programmers, PR personnel and so on and on and on. Pick a job in a civilian field. Almost all of them have a military counterpart. This is no different in Russian army. In truth, the 15% or so of the entire Russian army deployed to Ukraine represents approximately 85% of their combat personnel. Only a few small formations are still deployed elsewhere, nearly everyone who is expected to go to combat went to Ukraine. Of course in a desperate WW2-style situation you will use everyone and their dog. Ukraine is certainly sending their cooks and truck drivers to war with rifles and limited training right now, but these men fight for the very survival of their nation. They will be as effective as soldiers with limited training can be. Those same formations would only eat up the logistical apparatus for the invading Russian horde. Russians have enough problems with those as it is. They started running out of fuel and food on day two, which is a national disgrace. |
prophetfire: ![]() I swear, you see while Trump na badass if na Joe North Korea for us am catch cruise. |
Great0ne1:Only fools will think Russia max at 6000. Us maxed at 5000. Us knows Russia has more but trust me deep down under the sun both of these countries have more than that and for fact the Tsar and Satan nukes might not be the deadliest in Russia arsenal and the US have untold stories and unseen stories too. You think they invested so much in space for nothing ?? Think again even NASA trip to the moon too is not for sight seeing. |
ken6488: ![]() The US learnt that from Vietnam war. They thought more numbers will grant them victory but it lead to their demise. I don't blame them though but some of their presidents needs questioning cause the president before refused. When Trump killed Sulemani the Democrats wanted to rain hell on him even the so called CNN finish the dude. Moral Lesson: Don't look down on your enemies There is no such thing as western propaganda just humans in power using it wrongly. |
Caseless:Bro leave that guy every small thing western propaganda while buhari and co day use am do propaganda here |
victorsola:You right but Putin is a tough guy and I don't see him going down easily. |
Caseless:It's called balls. You know the reason Nigeria keeps saying trash and the leaders talking trash? It's because we didn't shed blood for our independence and the national anthem is just a waste, our leaders past never laboured (unlike someone like Mandela). The peace and justice part is a failure. |
fasmukol:US are not afraid of Putin they just don't want any escalation of the issue moreover Putin has issued a nuke threat and the US is wary of that not because they are scared but for their counter parts in Europe. Truth be told Russia might have more nukes on paper and those 6000 are just mere figures they might have more than that at their disposal, the US too is not left out also. |
Omo na to locate pipeline for area like this oo. The next day I go turn importer and exporter of black gold. Finally I don see way to make am, make I fast before bubu go come back from he trip. |
Does he think he is fighting neatly, thanks to Russia's top-secret mobile crematorium? After a Russian artillery battalion was destroyed while attempting to circle Kharkiv and a Russian fighter jet was shot down over Kyiv, people began to characterise Russia’s invasion as a quote “failed Blitzkrieg.” I had a realisation. Russia is using nearly 100 year old Deep operation strategies developed by the Soviet military theorist Vladimir Triandafillov. The strategy is the exact opposite of American and British doctrine of superiority and overwhelming firepower. There are only two main movement differences between the USSR’s reconquest of Ukraine in 1943 and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022: an amphibious invasion force from the South. a more westwardly attack, looping around Kiev to cut it off from Lviv, instead of a purely east to west attack. Unlike how the US and UK do mobile warfare, which is where enemies are suppressed at the line of contact, or flanked from behind to the line of contact, in Russian Deep Operation, the goal is to make the line of contact irrelevant and induce failure in the enemies formations—forcing them to fall back, often to an encircled position. Another difference between this strategy and traditional American or British doctrine, is that Deep Operation seeks to achieve a political goal, instead of a tactical advantage. Instead of war being merely the continuation of politics with other means, war is politics in a more literal sense with no separation. Putin has announced his political goal to the world: to ‘punish’ the quote ‘Nazi’ politicians of Ukraine, who are led by a Jew. However, one problem with this strategy is that Russia currently has 1/10th the number of troops the USSR did in World War II, and the US is not supplying Russia through Lend-Lease with extra trucks, food, and logistic support. I suspect that Deep Operation is so inherently costly that it will require a massive capitalist manufacturing base to support it. Another issue is that technology is a lot more advanced than it was in World War II. The striking distance of aircraft, air defences, and artillery is much further. Russian troops behind enemy lines are at risk of being killed by a lot more moving parts than they were in World War II. Finally, in World War II the countryside mostly supported Soviet troops against the Nazis. However, in Ukraine, most of the countryside is actively resisting Russian troops. Every Russian unit sent in behind enemy lines is susceptible to being completely surrounded and cut off from the logistics train. We are already witnessing Russian mobile infantry units stranded on the side of the road in APCs, completely out of gas. In other words Russia is exposing its troops to extreme risk, rushing in ass-first with undefended artillery and helicopters, to encircle Kyiv and capture or kill public enemy No 1: Volodymyr Zelenskyy. It remains to be seen whether Russia can actually achieve its goals with this much smaller force, against a hostile countryside and armed populace, with its forces exposed on all sides. We also need to keep in mind that Russia is currently deploying 70,000 of its Spetsnaz and professional army and naval infantry forces. Most of that remaining 120,000 troops sitting in Belarus and in Russia are probably barely-trained conscripts and reservists—who the Russian military probably intended to give experience through mopping up the last bits of resistance. Edit: A few comments have argued that Russia is not bombing Ukraine at all, or that they are holding back and only hitting very specific targets—that Russia could eliminate all of Ukraine’s air defenses in a few hours (maybe two hours), but have chosen not to out of the goodness of their hearts, or because they want a less damaged Ukraine to rule over. This is not the case. Without using nuclear warheads, no country on Earth could eliminate Ukraine’s air defenses. In fact, Ukraine still has ample offensive air abilities, including Turkish-made drones—drones which take a lot less training to operate than a fighter jet. Quora.com |
orble:Ogbeni this information is from quora. Countless of people speak similar, I don't support us or Russia but I know when one is a bigger boy. Only their military allocation alone is supposed to do the maths for you. |
Walkee:Bro that's invalid both military never fought against each other. The post says if both goes head to head not with side wars. Not directly as the USA vs the USSR There are answers mentioning the cuban missile crisis, U2 spy plane and even vietnam however I disagree. Cuban missile crisis was *mostly* a standoff and not a real battle. U2 spy plane is just a classic case of spy mission gone bad and as involvement was denied, strong retaliation other than counter-reconnaissance would have caused public defacement. Vietnam along with all other wars in the cold war is a classic case of two bosses sending their “minions" against each other. The Vietnam war was between north and south Vietnam however there were American forces in Vietnam in fact the Americans had such a presence that many saw it as a war between USA and north Vietnam on the side of north vietnam however there were a lot if soldiers and especially resources from the USSR. The same happened with korea and a lot of these wars. So yeah remember that the cold war is an ideological conflict wherein the Capitalist West under the leadership of USA fought against communist East under leadership of Ussr. So the countries in the Western “free world" fought against the communist satellite states to limit the spread of communism and the communist satellite states fought to spread communism. In conclusion no USA and USSR never directly fought as the USA vs the USSR, but they also did in that their soldiers faced each other in the ranks of the military forces representing their respective ideals. Sadr:After una go say Western Propagandas and you day here day do your own propagandas.
|
Walkee:Bro no be Hollywood this na life the US has been fighting a non conventional war which are more difficult unlike the ones Russia has been fighting. The truth is US are superior in military might even the Russians knows that more over we all forgot their nukes and most of their equipments where from USSR. The US have modern and more accurate systems. Nukes out of the equation the US wins easily. Nukes in the equation it will end both civilizations. |
ElValiente:Nigerians we just support one side and argue from there, the US is simply superior in terms or troops and advanced equipments. |
braboy:Oboy you not talking real shit at all, the only thing the Russia's have are those nukes. Do you see the Americans military budget? Do your research. |
ken6488:Bro the only advantage Russia have are those nukes apart from that the war would have been one sided. But I suspect both of them has more than that nuclear capacity mentioned. Both I know both countries would avoid each other. |
Bigchristo:Oboy count the atrocities, na Media bomb Iraq and Libya or na Person order the bombing ?Una just day talk out of point, if you hear a news online your brain go tell you to go verify if it's true before you conclude. The same CNN still cast Trump. Obama and Bush are the ones to be blamed for the attack on Libya and Iraq. Don't blame the whole western region. |
ChngedChnges:Ogbeni go sleep no body support the west una just day say western propaganda blablabla. It's simple us did bad in the pass but that doesn't justify Putin now. Propagandas are everywhere, even CNN used it against Trump in his impeachment. No blame west because your sense no carry you go verify news. |
Metachit:Yes it's from quora, thanks for the info I will start doing that next time. |
Metachit:Your wisdom is special I love your assessment. |
fortune1894:True talk but I feel Us and Russia are hiding their true nuclear capacity. They both have more than what the media is saying, same goes to China and the others. But nukes aside the US will wipe out any force on earth maybe the Great Britain might edge them who knows cause I heard those guys are very deadly. |
