temi4fash:Hi temi4fash, Let me first begin by saying that the gift of tongues has within it diverse manifestations; you can pray in tongues, sing in tongues, prophesy in tongues and so forth. I have also heard of ministers who have preached in tongues! 1 Corinthians 14:15-17 (KJV) What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. 16 Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest? 17 For thou verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified. From this verse alone we see 1. Prayer 2. Sing 3. Thanksgiving All in tongues. Paul was categorical that uninterpteted tongues had no place in public worship. The reasons for this are, first it causes disharmony seeing you can't understand each other, and secondly, it only benefits/edifies the Gifted whereas all should be edified. 1 Corinthians 14:18-19 (KJV) I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all: 19 Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue. 1 Corithians 14:27-28 (KJV) If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret. 28 But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God. In other words, if whatever you are manifesting is not understood by all, keep it to yourself. Many ministers flout this and I have heard elaborate arguments about why such clear instructions are not so. The commonest is that only one type of tongues should never be used publicly if uninterpteted. They then go on and claim that this particular type is the prophetic, where the tongue speaker receives a word for the people in tongues and nobody can interpret. I insist this is hard to find in scriptures There are only tongues or the gift of tongues, and I believe this rule that Paul's principle is that of communication. If you can't communicate to fellow brethren and unbelievers in tongues, please keep it to yourself. But as a Pentecostal( one who believes in spiritual gifts) for a while, I find this argument weak or baseless and it is just an attempt to explain away why you don't follow some scriptures. As I said, this culture is so ingrained in us that some believers literally think you are demon possessed for believing it. What can you do? A few options you may explore; 1. Leave that fellowship 2. Ignore it 3. Raise it with the pastor or somebody close to him. I'd discourage you from leaving church merely on the back of such a doctrine. I'd also discourage you from ignoring it. The third option is the best. But don't be aggressive because the pastor may take offense. |
ngobaby23:My sister, our dearest sister Anas09/analice107 is best placed to offer you counsel on how to go about sexual purity as a young lady. But what I can say is, it is definitely not the will of God that we engage in activities in our dreams that are sinful. God regards homosexuality as depravity so why would you go about it in the sleep? There is Balm in Gilead and you will be freed of this in Jesus name. Secondly, don't be ashamed. I know some things are just embarrassing but we are all here to stand with one another. If there are some things you wish to share privately, you can exchange emails with her. I vouch for her because I have 'seen' her faith, her testimony and I trust her counsel on this. Finally, the most important thing about forsaking sin is hating it. There is very little incentive to depart from something you don't find abhorrent. So I trust you are halfway there since you have demonstrated your desire to depart from these things. Please hang on and try and go through the entire thread. I know it will take days to do that but there are some gems here that you definitely need in your walk of faith. Stay blessed beloved sister |
I will mention something on the gift of tongues; 1. Tongues simply means languages 2. In NT the term when referring to spiritual gifts as per Acts and 1 Corinthians means a supernatural ability to communicate or vocalize in an unlearned language 3. Tongues of angels therefore means languages of angels. The phrase is found in 1 Corinthians 13:1 (KJV) Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. 4. I can't find scriptural support for claiming that one tongue is superior to the other 5. I agree with Anas09 that there are fake tongues. Fake in that the speaker fakes it deliberately or they are genuine but inspired by anything but the Holy Spirit. 6. One of the most ignored portion of scripture is where Paul forbids uninterpteted tongues from public worship. 1 Cor 13-14 7. The word gibberish when used with regard to tongues is usually in a demeaning fashion. Please remember that ANY language that you can't understand sounds gibberish. If you don't believe it, try and listen to Chinese arguing in Mandarin. This means we should not be quick to adjudge tongues as fake simply because they don't sound like a language. 8. For tongue speakers, please follow Paul's counsel and pray for interpretation. Although praying in tongues is beneficial as it edifies you, it has a better use when interpreted. Many of us Pentecostals simply settle for the gift. We are so focused on the gift that we never bother to move beyond it to interpretation. 9. Paul equates interpreted tongues to prophecy. It could be that if you understood the very things you are saying in tongues, you would find solution to your prayers! Or they could amplify your understanding of scriptures for after all you are speaking mysteries. 10. There is a controversy over whether ALL believers should speak in tongues or not. I believe given the immense value of the gift especially to prayerlife , it should be pursued by all. But it is wrong to look down on anybody who does not speak in tongues. 11. Operating in spiritual gifts is not a measure of spiritual maturity. The Gifted therefore should watch out against pride. First, it is a gift, and secondly, from scriptures, new born babes received the gifts right in their spiritual infancy. 12. Finally, all who have been gifted in tongues do quench the Spirit when they fail to exercise the gift by say praying and interceding for others The idea that demons can't hear tongues so tongues are 'safer' I find it odd. The reason is first, demons were angels at some point so they would understand the tongues of angels. Secondly, the tongue you speak in may be just another language from the nethermost corner of the earth, and I think demons are multilingual. Thirdly, there are many prayers recorded in the scriptures and the fact that they are recorded implies they were prayed in a language that could be understood. Demons don't hinder prayers because they understand what you prayed is my point. It is mostly through preying on our weaknesses, our carnality, flesh, sins and so forth. I also believe one can pray in a natural language and demons would not hear a thing even if they are right there. The reason being that God can make them dumb if that is necessary Selah! PS I avoided quoting many scriptures for brevity sake but I can stand by every point I have made and demonstrate the same from scriptures |
TB Joshua killed 116 and he is still breathing |
Danki: Danki: Danki: Danki:Danki, It is quite hard to reply to you because at times you sound contradictory. For one you have magnified your dreams above any mortal, pastor, prophet or members here. This means whatever counsel you receive here that contradicts your interpretation of your dreams, you are going to trash it. So why are you asking anybody here what you should do is beyond me. You'll follow your dreams which you have figured can't be from nobody else apart from Holy Spirit. Yet here you are asking for counsel So, should you start ignoring your dreams? Seems like your authority is derived from dreams and NOTHING ELSE. Here is my advice; Try and dream about whether you should start ignoring them or not. The problem is, will you ignore this dream directing you to ignore or not ignore other dreams? |
KingEbukasBlog:There is nothing such as a partial rapture, either you are Christ's or not |
KingEbukasBlog:Sir, I agree with what you are saying. What I'm saying is it takes 2 in a marriage. If one party is determined to exit, you can't stop them yet after you are divorced, it won't matter who left and who was determined to stay. This is why I'm less judgemental on divorcees. In other words, divorce which God hates is not an individual sin but corporate and as such it is almost unfair to blame divorcees for their predicament. Having said that, I strongly believe that the success or failure of a union is never entirely a single spouse's efforts; it takes both |
KingEbukasBlog:I agree mr King, but you will agree with me that most of what it takes to restore a broken relationship requires BOTH of the spouses? Now imagine you have one who wants in and the other wants out. I don't think divorce is justified, but I'd not be quick to blame one of the spouses for a problem that's well beyond their reach |
Busybody2:Gboliwe is a lady? **faints*** Well, she has a lot to share, just that she is shy |
Annunaki:M0ron, you are digressing. Give me evidence of microbes on meteors. |
Gombs:If among others Jesus came to exorcise poverty from our midst, then He failed flat because there has never been any appreciable difference in material well being of Christians and non-Christians since Pentecost to date, nowhere....not even in the most rabidly confused believers of this nonsense such as CEC NB:Poverty is caused and sustained by ignorance? No amount of information will ever rid the world and especially Christians of poverty and immunize them from it. Some believers will be poor, others won't, some heathens will be poor, others won't . Poverty is not terminal and men can and have risen above and out of it but there is no past of principles nor faith level that extinguishes poverty 100%....this false certainty is the utopia I'm talking of Did you read what I wrote about a church Jesus spoke to, He acknowledged their poverty and even said "though you're rich".Poor materially, rich spiritually. Laodecia was rich materially, poor spiritually |
nynbrada:The reason I said that is so that you may appreciate that I'm at a divorce risk as anybody else and I can't mock those whose marriages have failed My brother it is higly obtainable.Since you claim that the utopia is a reality, care to show me some objective evidence of the same? Do Christians live longer, healthier and happier lives over non-Christians? No amount of faith can wipe away totally the uncertainty that accompanies being clothed in flesh and blood There is poverty in Christ, or else Jesus was eggregiously decieved when he said "the poor you shall always with you"Not just because Jesus said so, but because it is a fact of life Who said there is no divorce in Christ?Well, God hates divorce, so one would think he would cushion his servants from the vagaries of divorce. But lo and behold, He does not! How much more sicknesses which He has nowhere indicated that He hates! Thats your own personal conclusion and judgement. What if in the eyes of God the opposite happens to be the case.Because we would still blame God for giving his servant a woman hell bent on doing what He hates! Either way, divorce is an indictment against this utopia And to say it takes two to build and destroy a marriage, is highly axiomatic and may not necessary be truth.True one can destroy the other, just as germs can get to your body and wreck God's perfection! Question is, why does God let it happen to His servants? If we blame humans for letting themselves sick and remaining sick, why can't we blame Oyakhilome for letting his marriage break? Pheeeww!!One can cast away stubborn demons which want the exact opposite of what you want, what's the big deal with commanding the marriage to be healed inJesus' name? Mind you i have a little knowledge of the history of their divorce. And through out the whole saga, i never picthed my tent with any party,....finally i also believe there might be ligth at the end of the tunnel on this issue. And you need not have followed it for long nor sided with either, divorce is an indictment against the certainty and control Word of Faith purveyors pretend to have over circumstances I beg to differ here. The problem with you here is that you are exalting your personal experience and those you are seeing around above the word of God.That's the popular rejoinder every time you run into reality. Is it possible what you call 'word of God' is nothing than wishful thinking on your part? It's well proven that people believe whatever they have purposed to believe. We all wish for long life, happiness, health......so naturally, we will overwork our imagination seeing these in the scriptures My brother just so you know, i cannot die, it is impossican't! not until i have finished the work of ministry that the Lord has bestowed upon me.Great claims or professions. Peter vowed he would die with Christ.....Jesus instead prayed that his faith would withstand. I pray to live longer, I can't claim I will. In any case, how can I tell that you will not die suddenly or by sickness? Wait till you die so I come back and check against what you said? I notice you include a clever way out of sudden death; your assignment. So those who die suddenly or by sickness are either ignorant of some truth or their assignment is finished! You die suddenly and there is a ready excuse, you die anyway other than suddenly and you still have an excuse. Either way your claims can't be disproved! My bro, i have not said one may not fall sick ooo!, but to think i'll now fall to drug for my healing? Taaaar! forget am.Very true. But faith does not ride present life of ALL uncertainties contrary to the wild claims of WOFers and PF purveyors. Here it is not your own faith that is being called into question.I have read him. He was neither a WOFer nor a PG purveyor. WOFers and PGers succumb to the very things they spent their lives denying. The roots of WOF and PG are not Wigglesworth but New Thought movement |
nynbrada:There are no claims there, at least as far as I can see, just observations of this PG phenomena and its absurdities If you follow her write-up carefully, you will understand that she is just exalting her own personal experience over the word of God.No she is not exalting her experiences. She is raising an oft-ignored aspect of our faith;we don't ALWAYS have our way regardless of our piety, devotion, righteousness and so forth.....contrary to the marketed claims of PG The only place i do not agree is when preachers or Christians start saying stuff like we cannot be sick, then be sure i will not agree on this position. Her point is, there are no such guarantees, no formulas that work 100% of the times. The only guarantee in Christ is eternal life. Otherwise, it is very insulting blaming the sick and the dying for FAILURE to execute some particular principle. Also know that from her claims she researched into the history of faith healing and prosperity. And as result was priviledged to met and work with those pioneer of faith. The WOF and PG phenomena is what she studied...its historicity. She was not looking for healing nor personal relationships with these, she is an academic. From the study, she came up with nuggets such as the association of the movement with the late 19th century NewThought wave. Ever wondered how something lies dormant for 18 centuries of Christianity and the suddenly becomes a fad? Read her dissertation with an open mind, criticize later. Criticizing something you've never read is ignorance Moreso, the claim that the prosperity and faith healing message started from E.W Kenyon under a metaphysical influence is a lie from the pit of hell.It is no lie, she has proof...objective proof for each of her claims. I love facts The only thing that has happened is progression in revelation.I have read these books by these. Healing did not start with the New Thought.....New thought simply got married into Christianity. Please read her books. How come the same cliches we hear thrown around like 'I am an overcomer' were also used in this movement? Somebody copied the other |
Annunaki:There are no microbes on no meteorite...stop digressing |
analice107:Powerful dearest, But something about marriage, it has two parties and they may not share the same zeal and determination to hang on together. |
The prosperity gospel tries to solve the riddle of human suffering. It is an explanation for the problem of evil. It provides an answer to the question: Why me? For years I sat with prosperity churchgoers and asked them about how they drew conclusions about the good and the bad in their lives. Does God want you to get that promotion? Tell me what it’s like to believe in healing from that hospital bed. What do you hear God saying when it all falls apart? The prosperity gospel popularized a Christian explanation for why some people make it and some do not. They revolutionized prayer as an instrument for getting God always to say “yes.” It offers people a guarantee: Follow these rules, and God will reward you, heal you, restore you. It’s also distressingly similar to the popular cartoon emojis for the iPhone, the ones that show you images of yourself in various poses. One of the standard cartoons shows me holding a #blessed sign. My world is conspiring to make me believe that I am special, that I am the exception whose character will save me from the grisly predictions and the CT scans in my inbox. I am blessed. The prosperity gospel holds to this illusion of control until the very end. If a believer gets sick and dies, shame compounds the grief. Those who are loved and lost are just that — those who have lost the test of faith. In my work, I have heard countless stories of refusing to acknowledge that the end had finally come. An emaciated man was pushed about a megachurch in a wheelchair as churchgoers declared that he was already healed. A woman danced around her sister’s deathbed shouting to horrified family members that the body can yet live. There is no graceful death, no ars moriendi, in the prosperity gospel. There are only jarring disappointments after fevered attempts to deny its inevitability. The prosperity gospel has taken a religion based on the contemplation of a dying man and stripped it of its call to surrender all. Perhaps worse, it has replaced Christian faith with the most painful forms of certainty. The movement has perfected a rarefied form of America’s addiction to self-rule, which denies much of our humanity: our fragile bodies, our finitude, our need to stare down our deaths (at least once in a while) and be filled with dread and wonder. At some point, we must say to ourselves, I’m going to need to let go. Source |
Annunaki:I don't have to school you on how each and every claim of microbes on meteorites has been debunked , Google is your enemy seeing you are married to arrogant ignorance |
nynbrada, You need to understand the roots of prosperity gospel and word of faith movement, and I can't think of any better place to start than Kate Bowler's dissertation. She took 12 years researching into it.. Here http://dukespace.lib.duke.edu/dspace/bitstream/handle/10161/2297/D_Bowler_Catherine_a_201005.pdf?sequence=1 |
analice107:Hello Anas09, He is getting blessed just as I am from this thread. How are you doing dearest? |
Gboliwe:You are quite idle |
Gboliwe:The most pressing |
ifenes:Neanderthal, This is where you run to your orphanage because this is adult stuff |
Annunaki:You have NOTHING to share in the first place. There has NEVER been no 'microbial life' on meteors, just wild unverified claims. |
Gboliwe:What's your problem? |
The Satanists should apologize for all the lives lost when while they rejected contraceptives |
Annunaki:Go slow on psychedelic mushrooms. When and where did they pick microbial life on a meteorite? It's just a matter of time that more complex life forms are found and the life forms don't have to be carbon based as we have on earth.Nope, life outside earth is a fantasy dream away |
ifenes:Serial buffoon, There is NOTHING outside earth that can sustain ANY life |
nynbrada:I'm married and a candidate for divorce btw. It is a well known fact, that there are no couple that have not had a fair share of its own joy and pains as far as reationship is concerned. My point is to critique the health-wealth-happiness utopia peddled by Oyakhilome as being at a Christian's reach. If there is no poverty in Christ, there equally is no divorce in Him. But the peddler of no-poverty-in-Christ has a failed marriage! Why did it fail, is it some principles he failed to practice or what? Mind you he did'nt sue for the divorce. The wife did and of course she is entitled to her right.Nonsense, the point remains, both couples are to blame for a failed marriage just as they are responsible for a successful one. So I've no idea why you really have to sink this low and besmirch Anita and paint Oyaks as a saint. Moreso, don't swallow hook, line and sinker every thing the fift estate had dished out concerning his divorce saga. Trust them to have embellished it with many unfounded and concorted lines. The theory that there is no poverty in Christ is a HERESY and a fantasy that is betrayed by his own life of a failed marriage or he preaches one thing and practices the other Please get this, pastor Chris is a genuine man of God, though some of his teachings may seem controversial or downright unscriptural. He is peddling an illusion that wealth is just some scriptures, faith and principles away. The fact is, poverty like diseases and poor relationships are a fact of life. You will have each of those one way or the other regardless of what principles and faith you possess and practice At times some of these percieved theological blunders are not deliberately designed to steer the children of God away from the truth but rather they happen to be his own mistakes and fallibility as human.Very good of you So for the Op i'll like to know your personal take on it with scriptural position rather than attack the messenger.I'm not attacking the messenger, just illustrating his folly. Poverty, wealth, health, illness, happiness, sadness are all INEVITABLE as long as we are in this tabernacle. The countless and expensive formulas developed to avoid these end up disappointing many. This is not to mean that we should not attempt to overcome, but rather we should not be escapist. Some Christians are no will die poor regardless of their faith, principles and attempts to escape it. Same with health. I was discussing with a friend and I asked her why Christians get sick. She said it is in their power to rise above any sickness and to be disease free and they only fall sick because they allow themselves to. This thinking has no empirical proof nor scriptural basis. This is fantasy thinking. Sometimes it takes nothing but death to rouse these daydreamers out of their fantasies. That moment when you have to resort to medicine, or bury a faithful believer who firmly believed they would be healed is the turning point. Little wonder all the most rabid Word of Faith purveyors succumb to sicknesses. Their medicine somewhat does not work on them |
Annunaki:Because there is no way any non-earth like planet can sustain life. It is IMPOSSIBLE. |
KingEbukasBlog:I think one thing we need to remind ourselves daily instead of waiting for death to rattle us is the fact that, as long as we are in this tent, death, pain, aging are inevitable. This is what makes a believer look forward to resurrection, our blessed hope. The mistake of attempting to live out resurrection lifestyle in the present physical bodies is what breeds all these epic disappointments |
sonOfLucifer:Thank you, I'm fine. Did you get Lara Croft Go? |

You don craze finish I should have handed over my room keys at yabaleft when I got discharged

Scientists have already confirmed with 100% certainty that microbial life exists outside this planet. This was confirmed from samples of meteorites that landed on earth.
