frank317: Ur problem is that u are trying to see atheism from ur own point if view and u just believe morality must come from what ever creator u think created this world. Nope, you have never interrogated atheism logical conclusions, just like most ankle-deep atheists. That's all I'm helping you do Matter is none moral? What ever that means. How we came to this world has nothing to do with morality. Having moral is how we have chosen to be long after we came here. And you can also choose your own morality seeing morality is a CHOICE! Any one who has conscience can be moral. U erroneously think atheist don't have conscience just becasue they don't believe in a creator? That's actually lame. Conscience? What is conscience? Care explaining what that is? Why to do think subscribing to a belief is a logical basis for morality? How can u say atheists lack logical basis for morality. Perhaps u have a different view of what morality is. Because there simply is no OBJECTIVE basis for picking something over the other as being moral or immoral It's just simple.. If john slaps me, and i feel pain, I as human will instantly know that if I slap another, he will feel pain. This how empathy is developed. Knowing what others feel in a certain situations. It needs no creator to understand. You are missing the point; human beings can CHOOSE not to empathize. Empathy is conditioning. Just like suicide. Human beings are the ONLY known animals which deliberately rise against all instincts and inflict lethal harm on themselves. Humans can rise above ANY conditioning. Why should they not? Who said humans must not minimize pain? The bottom line is we just cannot help acting like humans. Our personality is built on our inherited traits plus our socialization process... It has nothing to do with any man made creator concept. None of this is cast in steel. You are socialized to shun eating human flesh. But you can still explore human delicacies. You are socialized not to sleep with animals, you can still hump a donkey. In short, there is no any sensible reason why not |

Ravi comes to the task with unique credentials. Himself a former atheist, Ravi personally knows the bankruptcy of living as if there is no God, and thus he is impervious to the false allure of athe- ism being promoted by this new breed of spiritual iconoclasts.
As an insightful and accomplished philosopher, Ravi is able to systematically dismantle the feeble case for skepticism built by Harris. And as an astute theologian, he is equipped to dispel the false- hoods and misinterpretations of Scripture that fuel Harris’s disdain for Christianity.
With relentless logic, an impressive grasp of the relevant literature, a deep understanding of world religions, and an unerring sense of grace and convic- tion, Ravi manages to unveil the embarrassing im- potency of Harris’s arguments. |

Oluwaseytiano: Extracts from an article THERE’S far too much strife in the world today. Terrorism plagues the Middle East, terror raids increase at home, the royal commission into disturbing sexual abuse is ongoing and debate rages about wearing the burqa in public. And what is the basis of many of these problems? Religion. Specifically, the fact that almost all religious movements think they are (a) always correct, and (b) struggle to coexist peacefully with rival faiths. Given that these issues don’t appear to be going away, perhaps it’s time we gave atheism a try. Atheism has much going for it that religion does not. For a start, it does not presume a supernatural being whose existence can never be proved. Most of the time when someone says they believe something to be true, objective verification is required. If I laid claim to the title of “Fastest man on Earth”, for example, the Guinness World Records wouldn’t simply replace Usain Bolt’s name with mine in the 100m sprint category. I’d have to turn up at an athletics track and test my speed (what there is of it these days) against the stopwatch. And Mr Bolt would remain the champion until someone genuinely faster than him appeared. So why is religion treated so differently? Why do we pay special attention to various groups of priests and people who claim to know both life’s higher truths and the identity of the One True God? Why do religions receive tax breaks not available to others? And irrespective of how silly a religion’s belief systems are, why do we need special anti-discrimination laws to penalise those who refuse to respect such nonsense? Much of what appears in holy books like the Bible, the Torah and the Koran is thousands of years old. These texts are a mixture of history, rules for living when law was generally capricious and primitive beliefs from an age when science was dimly grasped. I don’t know about you, but I have no desire to exist as people did when Jesus was born. There was no modern medicine back then. Sanitation was poor, people lived short lives, women routinely died in childbirth and stars were thought to be pinpricks in the sky through which God’s holy light shone. It makes little sense for 21st-century societies to respect belief systems concocted under such circumstances. Yet to this day people still fight each other and demand special recognition for their own set of religious principles. Not that long ago, accepted wisdom held that the Earth was flat. We now know this to be untrue, and anyone who states otherwise is treated as a fool. But if flat-earthism was treated like religion, we’d still be teaching it in school. Another problem religions have is that most disagree with each other. Christians say that Jesus was God’s main prophet, while Muslims bestow that honour on Mohammed. Meanwhile, Jews argue the true Messiah is yet to appear. Atheism isn’t a belief system in itself. All it says is that those who proclaim the existence of a god or gods should provide some proof to back up their claim. In the absence of such proof, and combined with so many competing religious ideas, it’s prudent to assume there is no god and get on with life. A world run by atheists wouldn’t necessarily be free from conflict, because aside from religion there are plenty of reasons people fight: land, water, food and differing political ideologies have all been responsible for wars in the past. Religious conflicts are particularly difficult, however, because they’re almost impossible to solve. The lack of evidence to prove one system over another means that followers of one religion rarely admit to others they might be wrong. Instead, spiritual differences fester unresolved for hundreds of years. Because we live in a democracy, religion neither should nor could be banned. But to avoid trouble we must reduce the elevated status it presently occupies in civil society. First, unless they are undertaking valuable charitable works, religions should be stripped of the various tax breaks they enjoy. This means, among other things, that churches should pay land tax to state governments — just as do most other property owners. Second, there should not be any official religion in a country like Australia, whose inhabitants believe in many different things. Because our head of state, Queen Elizabeth II, also leads the Church of England, we’ll soon need to perform some constitutional tinkering. Third, no politician or witness in court should swear on a holy book to either do a good job or tell the truth. If someone’s word is suspect, then no grasping of an ancient tome will increase their trustworthiness. If people must swear on something, then they should do so to the Commonwealth of Australia. This is an entity that, after all, means a great deal to millions of people who possess very different spiritual beliefs. Finally, stop placing the opinions of religious leaders above those of (presumably) lesser beings. Just because someone has advanced through a male-dominated hierarchy via interpretation of the scriptures, they shouldn’t have a public platform from which to lecture others. Religion should be treated as a private affair people are free to join or leave as they please. It should not be regarded as a font of wisdom and should be subject to the same analysis and criticisms as other beliefs. Atheists don’t know the secrets of the universe. But they accept that research and science are better ways of discovering such matters than obscure texts in very old books. Before you dismiss me as small-minded, the moment a Christian, Muslim or Jew presents me with proof of God, I’ll convert to religion. Until then I’ll remain a sceptical nonbeliever. NOBODY can stand unpunctuated post, not even yourself...totally atrocious to our sensibilities |

frank317: No... Like I said earlier, an occurance of suicide is an indication that there is something wrong with the environment. I wouldn't advise anyone to commit suicide, becasue it sends a negative message of hopelessness. It also creates a vacuum, its somewhat selfish too. But the cause of a suicidal act can never be over looked. One wouldn't just got commit suicide if he is happy, would he?
Lol... U seriously think people commit suicide becasue they can? Where did u get that. People commit suicide becasue of something undesirable and unbearable happening to them. I care becasue of all the above mentioned.
I have never heard that suicide could be for fun... Pain, discomfort, delusion, are usually the cause of suicide. Without pain, the world will be a different place. We wouldn't have this discussion. This is my honest position. I am yet to understand how suicide can be without pain, so I cannot answer that question.
Glad u know this. If one's pain is so unbearable that he fails to care about how others feel, it shows it shows something is missing in that environment. They lack the empathy to care about how others feel, that's a problem of its own and I am not comfortable with it...
No one is an island... It is selfish to avoid pain only to cause pain to others. It's like saying if one feels hungry (pain) its okay for him to steal from others (hurting others) to feel satisfied (avoid pain). However some people lack the empathy to understand how others feel when they steal from them. Just as some people lack the empathy to understand how others feel when they create a vauume in other's life. Morality is avoiding pain both for u and for concerned others, not just avoiding pain. Empathy drives morality.
Ok Thank you sir for attempting to explain your position. I'm trying to look at life as an atheist. It is a product of chance, time plus matter. Matter is non-moral, non-reasoning.... Morals and reason are a facade. An atheist may be moral, but they lack ANY logical basis for morality. They can't explain they subscribe to a belief and not the other. This is why you are so much persuaded suicide is 'wrong'. You know it is 'wrong' because it is caused by and causes pain. But who said humans MUST minimize pain? |

frank317: There is nothing special about me or another mass of flesh.I just hate pain and I will avod it if I can. If the death of my sister will make me feel sad I will stop it if I can. You have avoided my question It is true nobody likes pain, but my question is, is pain to others your only incentive against suicide? Are u looking for answers based on hypothetical world? Is that why u are here. The reality is: death causes pain to anyone affected, either directly or indirectly and we, as humans act based in that. Besides pain leads to suicide... If there was no pain do u think I am u would be discussing about suicide? Not necessarily. Some commit suicide just because they can. And I'm not questioning the motives of suicide victims, I'm wondering why you care Pain (in every way u see it) or discomfort causes suicide and suicide causes pain. If u eliminate pain in this world we would have a totalluly different world. Are planing on creating ur own world. Don't ask me irrelevant questions of u have no point. Not necessarily, some discomfort may cause suicide but not all. Your postulate is basically suicide for fun, and without pain to nobody is cool. Is this what you are saying? Suicide can be an escape from pain. Did you know that? We have a suicide victim cornered and in deep pain. Then there is the pain of grief of those they leave behind if at all. Should they care about others before themselves? Atheists feel pain bro... We feel unhappy, sad and all that...and in the bid to avoid pain, morality is created. All humans feel pain. Morality is pain avoidance attempt in short, isn't it? Suicide as well is a pain avoidance mechanism But it is highly subjective you must admit Unfortunately u theists, when slapped, will first, rush to go look into ur holy book and read to find out if ur God concept wrote in his letter that u should feel pain when slapped before actually knowing if it is wrong or if another will feel pain when u slap him.. This is how ur own morality is built... Based on what is written in a book. No wonder ya all feel it's right that Abraham should attempt killing his son. U think its moral for Abraham to kill his son in response to a voice in his head? Let's stick to atheism for now. Needless digression won't help |

Kayelyon: People should please stop comparing our dear MoG to Benny Hinn. The reason I gave Benny Hinn is because I was replying to somebody who quoted him as an example of 'all is not lost'. Once again, the fundamental difference between Hinn and Oyaks (funny I used to see Oyaks as a Hinn copycat once upon a time) is that Benny Hinn was NEVER divorced in the first place. Separated couple getting back together is very different from divorced couple getting together. Oyaks can only get back together with Anita vide a fresh marriage. This should dispel the hopes of their fans who still fantasize about a reunion You think its easy for a MAN OF GOD to be ACCOUNTABLE TO ONE WOMAN IN MARRIAGE? I have no idea what you mean but I hope you are no delusion that pastors' spouses are the most stressed. I can think of several other careers that stretch marital bonds to the max. Think of the military for instance Even God himself had to tell Abraham to listen to Sarah when She demanded the sack of Hagar(the other woman!). After all ministry is different from marriage. It takes a level of meekness to still honour a wife in your life knowing that you are a man of God. No it doesn't. One has to constantly remind themselves that to the wife,M they are FIRST husbands, and pastors or MoGs secondly. When you get it in reverse, and you start speaking to your spouse in tongues, there will be trouble. Success in marriage and ministry are not mutually exclusive. The difference however is that the whole world is clearly watching & have the God given sense to identify men of integrity and humility. When a leader is completely surrounded by sycophants, there is trouble o. How can you practically divorce a woman for years & perpetually refuse her from coming to be with you & NO ONE COULD INTERVENE IN THE CHURCH. SYCOPHANTS!!! Agreed! It helps to remain accountable to a few regardless of your stature in spirituality. I've heard TB Joshua say that he has no friends because he is too busy or something. If you ever deluded yourself that you are too spiritual to listen to man,my ou are setting yourself for epic fail Now they are everywhere calling the woman all sorts. A successful marriage takes two, and a failed one takes two. That's my belief as a married man. I can't take credit for my successful marriage but heap blame on her when it fails. Thats hypocrisy! Leaders are busy programming the mind of their sheep. INSTEAD OF WORKING ON THEIR INTEGRITY. Lolz...... It is in his interest that She hasnt made public her proof of his infidelity. She has tried! Settle her and let her be. God will take care of her. She was first HIS DAUGHTER b4 a man married her. God will take care of her! Wise words. I've heard there are serious negotiations, buying her silence. Then there is another bit. If they split marital property, a lid will be opened on Oyaks wealth, which into date is a mystery |

If my friend will kill himself and I will be sad becasue of his absence then its my responsibility to help him not kill himself so that I will not be sad. All animals are averse to pain. So you mean if somebody's death would not cause any 'pain' then suicide is an option? To be sincere... I know of only a life with pain. Pain, surprisingly has its function (both negative and positive). In a bid to avoid pain we make our selves feel better. Don't u like feeling good? Do u like pain? Meaning if suicide caused no pain it is a perfect option? Honestly I have no idea how human morality would have been without pain. How we would act in a painless world is beyond my imagination. Honestly I have no idea why an atheist would give a damn about abstract human constructs which are hopelessly subjective as morality |

Masturbation is not forbidden but we know it is attended by lustful thoughts, and we know fornication and adultery means more than the very act. It was amplified by Christ to cover thoughts. An activity that ministers lust remains a sin regardless of the frequency it is committed. Talking of frequency, how often should your wife sleep with another man before you conclude she has committed adultery? Back to whether something is backed by a verse, would you eat human flesh? |

Gombs: Hello bro!.. i see you never seem to stop calling preachers names... majorly because they don't subscribe to your kind of Christianity. In avoidance of doubts, let me put these two in context.
Jesus said John 16:8 New King James Version (NKJV)
8 And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
get other translations for simpler rendering.
Joseph Prince made a bold statement in his book:
“The bottom line is that the Holy Spirit never convicts you of your sins. He NEVER comes to point out your faults. I challenge you to find a scripture in the Bible that tells you that the Holy Spirit has come to convict you of your sins. You won’t find any.” (Page 134-135, Destined to Reign)
Joseph and Jesus are saying the same thing, For the Holy Spirit DOES NOT convicts Christians of their sins, for that wasn't one of His job description as seen John 14:26 AMP
But the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will help you remember everything that I have told you.
Pastor Prince even made it better for you Ola, He challenged you to find a scripture that says otherwise... until then, I and the hosts of Heaven will just be watching you in utter dismay. Gombs Gombs The verse you quoted does not support you at all. Please define CONVICT THE WORLD OF SIN per John 16:8 |

Unfortunately, most purveyors of eternal security NEVER consider these verses when you show them. One even went ahead to claim some NT books/parts is not for us all in a bid to embrace this man's teaching!!! Wh n Jesus spoke of blasphemy of Holy Spirit, it was in context of ASCRIBING genuine work of the Spirit by Him to Satan. So if a Spirit led minister is dismissed as demon possessed, the Spirit is blasphemed |

Scholar8200: Many describe grace as unmerited favour but I am yet to find this definition impliedly or expressedly stated in the Bible!(IF YOU HAVE PLS SHOW US)
I fear this definition of grace being unmerited favour laid the foundation of people seeing it as God's ticket enabling us travel the broad way and enter through the strait gate!
To others, Grace is forgiveness of sins nothing more! Yes it includes but is not limited to forgiveness
If that was the case then why was Jesus being a task master when after forgiving the woman caught in adultery He told her to go and sin no more? Were His Words not Spirit and Life by which the woman was to be empowered for victory after forgiveness?
Why didnt He say," daughter, I know you are weak;any time you commit adultery just remind the Father of today and ask Him for forgiveness!!!
Grace is illustrated in:
1. God strengthening our hands such that we are enabled to break a bow of steel; Psalm 18:34 2. Enabling us to walk on water while we set our minds on Him (faith) 3. God Dwelling in us and walking in us 4. God working in us that which is well pleasing in His sight 5. Grace is God asking Moses to divide the red sea by stretching out his rod and when Moses complies God sent forth a blast to do the dividing etc 6. Grace is God transforming a raving terrorist-like Saul and making him an apostle whose heart was so saturated with love that he wished God would banish him to hell if only that will lead to the salvation of his main persecutors - the Jews!
What then is Grace? Grace transcends forgiveness to an entitlement to partake of the Divine nature (2 Peter 1:3,4)
Grace is God's power working in us that which is well pleasing in His sight through our faith enabling us to live soberly, righteously and godly in this present world. It is defined as the Spirit quickening us such that, inspite of human frailty, we are empowered to live in holiness!
Romans 8:11
3 according as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
2Peter 1:3,4
But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. Romans 8:11
The quickening here is not resurrection or healing but the work of the Spirit Who also mortifies the carnal nature vs 13.
While we are not saved by works but faith, Grace that comes in through faith manifests itself by works hence the Epistles commence with the revelation of salvation and ends with practical works of faith expected from those who profess faith lest they be deceived!
Besides, unlike the I-serve-you-you-bless-me mindset prevalent today, true service to God is only possible by His Grace tantamount to His Power and he that serves by this Provision does not pray or approach God with an air of entitlement but retains humility!
28 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear Hebrews 12:28
Now let's consider facts about Grace.
Facts about Grace: 1. Grace can be received in vain by the receiver; 2 Corinth 6:1
2. Frustrated by the receiver; Galatians 2:21
3. Fallen from by he that once received it? Galatians 5:4
4. Turned to lasciviousness and an occasion to serve the flesh if careful heed is not taken; Jude 4
5. Grace works in tandem with our wills and willingness? Meaning grace will only enable to the degree to which we want to go 1 Corinth 15:10
6. Grace only becomes effectual in our lives when we believe on Him Romans 5:2 hence the need to hold fast and continue in the faith.
7. Actions that contradict the grace received by faith we possess are evidences that we are no longer in the faith 2 Corinth 13:5 no matter what affirmations, emotions and feelings we experience.
8. Grace goes beyond forgiveness of sins to empowerment to live victorious lives Titus 2:11-13 and that if this aspect of grace is missing, we may profess grace but we deceive ourselves and turn God's grace into lasciviousness !
9. Sequel to (8.), if we have no earnest hunger and thirst after righteousness and purity, and only rejoice in the forgiveness aspect of grace then we have a form of godliness while denying the power thereof: a recipe for becoming reprobates in the long run like the Church in Sardis Revelation 3:1-5!
10. He that truly received grace will hunger for more John 1:16; absence of this means the person has reverted back to what he was before encountering grace 2 Peter 1:9-11
11. Grace is provided as a free Gift never to be withdrawn; however each individual must access this grace by faith and since faith is not permanent till we get to Heaven, we must take heed and be watchful lest we draw back or fall from faith! How about a simple WORD STUDY of the very word GRACE. Start with Greek, then move to Septuagint and see the corresponding Hebrew Word for Grace This is more sensible and than quoting dozens of unrelated verses |

I believe we have the responsibility to live happily in a community where pain is reduced to its nearest minimum.
We are here to help each other and understand that the decision we make might affect the life of others especially when these decisions are selfish and irrational.
If a father commits suicide he leaves his wife loveless and children orphans... I would there advise him not to and together as humans we try to resplolve the problem that is leading to suicide.
Everyone loves life, whatever may cause one to take his precious life must be checked. A society where people kill themselves easily is a sign that something is wrong with that society. Death is something everyone fears. It's am uncertainty that's a mystery to man. For one to willing opt for this uncertainty is only a sign that he must be very uncomfortable in life. This is why we owe each other the responsibility of making each other comfortable.
We owe our life just as we have the responsibility to make this world a better place. We owe our life that's why we must ensure we are happy all the time and not destroy it. Love, responsibility, 'precious life', 'better place' WHO CARES? WHY? And does it mean that if there was no 'pain' in the world occasioned by our suicide then it is a perfect option? |

donnie: Didn't Benny Hinn remarry? One two one two, they mention Benny Hinn. Those who encouraged Pastor Anita to seek for divorce probably mentioned Benny Hinn's wife. No be so o. Pastor Chris is Pastor Chris, Benny Hinn is Benny Hinn (two distinct men of God with different callings before God) and The Word remains the same. Benny Hinn never remarried; he just reunited with his separated wife who was in the process of filing for a divorce. What I mean is no amount of faith or prayers can undo the historicity of their divorce. If the prayers were to work, it'd have been before the divorce was decreed. Henceforth should the prayers 'work', it'd be Oyaks remarrying his FORMER WIFE. |

donnie: Too early to rejoice bro. . . He is still excercising his faith. And I believe with him for a miracle. Who is rejoicing? Whatever happens now, they'd have to REMARRY because they are legally divorced. Even if they REMARRIED, they'd still be divorcees remarried. Point is, NOTHING can happen henceforth that erases the historical fact of their divorce. Benny Hinn never divorced, he separated from wifey but they got back. PS I also believe in miracles, but no miracle can erase history |
