CoolUsername: Nope, evolution is still going on very slowly as we speak.
Have you seen how new breeds of dogs are formed over time by artificial selection. That's evolution.
Have you seen the way drugs like Amalar and Quinine stopped being effective against malaria? That's the malaria parasite evolving before our very eyes.
So, no evolution hasn't stopped at all.
Don't be a m0ron, SPECIATION is not evolution. Evolution is ADDITION of genetic information not REARRANGEMENT or LOSS of pre-existing information. This is why we don't look at albinos as evidence of evolution
This is a dumb question and johnydon22 is right on the money according to evolution, humans and monkeys share a common ancestor.
Now, morphologically chimps are the closest you can get to humans and this was the origin of the theory of common ancestor. But this is total bullshiet. Here is why; monkeys branched off our common ancestors 25 million years ago while chimps only bolted 6 million years ago. This theory if true would mean we are have more genetic similarity between chimps and humans than between monkeys and humans, right? Wrong! We share about 93% genes with Rhesus monkey no different from the chimps.
So genetic similarity does not tell you anything as such, how you interpret that information depends on your presumptions. If you are into Darwinism, higher DNA similarity will point to a COMMON ANCESTOR but to me a creationist, they point to a COMMON DESIGNER.
I believe in tact and balance. The book of Hebrews severally warns against backsliding but at the same time encourages the immediate subjects as being well founded meaning they are not about to fall. Check;
Hebrews 10:35-39 (KJV) Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. 36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. 37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. 38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. 39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
So while the risk of falling away is real, one's life should not be dominated by fear of falling so much that they are afraid of confessing their confidence in the Lord.
Sometimes back I took a trip with some brethren and on our way back I was throwing some names and asking them if they still remember them. These are ministers of renown who have somewhat faded but are still in ministry. We were discussing why some stars simply fade with passage of time as if their best days are behind them. I certainly don't believe God can light up a fire and then pour water on it. My opinion of these men and women of Faith is they somewhat compromised and like Samson they woke up one day only to realize their strength had left them.
There is another risk almost as devastating as backsliding; compromising or growing lukewarm. I believe this is more common than outright backsliding. So we easily focus on backsliding but ignore our own lukewarmness. This risk is real in my life. I have experienced it. If you keep on reminiscing the good old days when you were fiery or more fiery for God, you need to wake up.
plappville: This man is well known all over the world. This week He was discussed in a French radio station. Exactly what they were saying. That man now replace the prophecy of pastors to that of the Bible. I was surprised when I heard his name and voice on the radio..
Dearest, I'm dead serious. Start by recording all your experiences without any regard to order so that when it comes to writing a book, you'll be spoilt for choice
I've heard of recruits profiled from their FB, China is just taking it a notch higher. The around it? Get 'clean and compliant' social media handles and then the real ones. I have fake FB, Twitter,Instagram accounts. There is virtually nothing on the internet that points to yours truly
analice107: HahahahahahahahaHHHa. This Midas Touch geared me towards one miracle like that enh. I bought the book but won't read all of it. One morning before I went out, I just picked it and opened a page where he gave a testimony of how he asked God for money, but God responded by saying He(GOD), didn't have any money in heaven. That all the money was on earth. He was told what to say to get what he wanted, he did and got the money. It's was very funny. So I got up and did exactly what he (Hagin) did and the money came. I was scared to ask for too much, I just said I want 50,thousand naira every week. I put my Angel to work by telling him to go and get it, and rebuke Satan to take his hands off my money. I left and went about my business. Like joke, a small contract I was running after for months was given to me without pressure again, another I never even asked for was given to me. One of it, I make 67,thousand naira weekly and the other from 50 to 70k on intervals. But 67k is constant. I just keep doing what I read from that book. It works brethren. HahahahahahahahaHHHa.
Anas09, Please write a book! Chronicle all your testimonies and experience and I can promise I will buy the first ten copies, read them all separately before giving out nine. Please dearest do it for the glory of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
dazzle101: Naa, doesn't work with me. I like to call a spade exactly what it is. But really,if we must go into this: yes! Anyone that claims supposedly or is believed to be a man/woman of God, it's not deemed wise to say just about anything against them. You never know who really has the anointing or not n to this I quote again 'Leave judgement to God' it's not our place to cast aspersions lest we incur some inexplicable inexplicable.
Vooks dear, we can go on n on but abeg that's not the way.
Let's keep this thread for its intended purpose.
Shallom to you and to all.
Beloved dazzle101, I'm not asking it to work with you, am saying Brown ministers paranoia and I experienced it as so did countless others. You are saying this is untrue. What to do, keep on repeating the same thing over and over? We move on and agree to disagree or in other words, respect our opinions as far as Brown is concerned.
'Judge Not' is a gag I never suffer gladly. As it were you have already JUDGED my comments on Brown as WRONG yet you won't suffer me to point out to her wrongs lest I suffer 'inexplicable inexplicable'. That's what I call funny. 'Judge not' is archaic Christian superstition aka blackmail that hardly moves me. Desist from invoking it on me while judging me because that is plain hypocrisy. If you should 'judge not' then reserve your opinion on everyone is what I mean
I didn't disagree with the fact that Rebecca's works are questionable but rather with ur assertion that it makes true believers who ardently follow her teaching paranoid. That was the basis of my grouse with you.
Pete's sake, Rebecca's books spells fear for the reader and because the spirit of God doesn't teach fear nor give us fear then we know such tales that invoke that should be questioned and disregarded.
To this end I hope my stance is clear. No its not my place to judge the woman in question cos we never know but to judge anyone or their works.
Thank you dear brethren for your contributions, very much appreciated...
Remained blessed!
Let's agree to disagree on this
The other thing that amuses me, the 'judge not' card is flashed when some names are named. It's a code word for ' don't speak bad things about somebody who is widely believed to be a servant of God'
In it, he decried the excesses of prosperity gospel, something he readily admits he was guilty of. Check your church's bookshop and you can bet you won't find it yet you have all of Hagin's . Looks like few love correction.
Back to the subject. There is such a thing as abuse of spiritual gifts, and I think among others we should look at how even the noble most gift can and has been abused.
I can think of a few; 1. DEPENDANCE The one operating in a particular gift ends up cherishing and enjoying being called on every so often. They would deliberately avoid training others independence.
2. CHARGING I'm sure we all know somebody or we ourselves have had to part with some money to receive a prophecy or dream interpretation. They may call it prophet's gift bla bla but the point is clear; without cash you get nothing. I know one right here in NL who gives general prophecies but charges US $100 for 'specific prophecies'
3. HAUGHTINESS Let's be honest, operation of some gifts can dazzle. This can easily get to the head of the one operating in it that they forget they are gifts of grace, unearned and meant to benefit others. We must have noted how some Gifted are exceptionally honored. Paul says only elders are worthy of double honor- 1 Tim 5:17 This means congregation leaders/pastors and not the peculiarly gifted
4. FAKING One may for instance go beyond the manifestation and fake it. Could be a fake prophecy, word of Knowledge, tongues and so forth. I have never understood the pressure to impress with a gift. So you once stood and the power of God was so strong that half the church was slain? Next time it don't happen you start pushing guys. One minister once said that when the congregation pressure the pastor for a 'word', he sure will manufacture one. Recall Aaron pressured to make a God for the Israelites?
5. NEGLECTING THE CHRISTIAN WALK This may be closely related with #3. Just because you have a special and rare gifting, you tend to ignore everything else. One gifted with healing may neglect prayer and scripture devotion. It is so easy to mistake the gifts for spiritual maturity. We all need to know that gifts or no gifting, we are work in progress
6. CONTROLLING & DOMINEERING OTHERS Most believers will honor the gift in the gifted. The Gifted are easily tempted to turn this honor into some license for dominating others and subjecting others to their whims
Please add others or amplify or correct what I just said
dazzle101: Dear Vooks I have agreed with your submission as well but for your very last statement.
Do not make unverifiable assertions. I have followed a certain post where you condemn the woman writer without much ado. Sorry but not everyone would share in your sentiments and that's life for you.
Kindly, do not rub off nada on me because I had stated earlier I read about the laying of hands n consequences there of from one of Brown's books. Maybe for you that was the result but do not make bold to lay a claim that is presumptuous in totality.
We are all here to read n learn perhaps no man is an island, just God remains the centre of all for the wise may claim to know, but they know nought!!!
I read Brown's books, saw Devils everywhere before I sobered up thankfully. I have also witnessed this in others, so you can say I speak from personal as well as empirical experiences.
If you had read scriptures, there was caution over laying on of hands long before Brown happened upon this earth
1 Timothy 5:22 (ESV) 22 Do not be hasty in the laying on of hands, nor take part in the sins of others; keep yourself pure.
That said, I agree we are all here (on earth,NL....) to learn. I just find it decidedly odd that this reminder had to come after I raised something you obviously disagree with.
Dont be afraid of negative impartation of foul spirit, a child of God cannot receive such even at our weak moment. reason being that light and darkness cant mixed together. As a child of a Living God we have the Holy Spirit in us occupying our soul, spirit, mind and body, hence no matter how a devil pastor try it wont work, its either he see the light in you and restrain OR he tried and nothing work. the worst can be you physically knowing that their is a clash but will not affect you.
This is my believed though, if am wrong, others will correct me.
GoodMuyis, I also lean towards this. I think transference of spirits takes more than laying on of hands. You don't want somebody laying hands on you and all the while you are wondering whether you will receive a gift of God or demons. I mean we should guard against paranoia.
Rebecca Brown books followed to their logical conclusion reduce believers to paranoid freaks
JAZES: Prophet Temitope Joshua is one of Nigeria’s clergymen renown for his predictions and miracles.
His daughter, Sarah Joshua, who was recently called to bar, granted an interview with Encomium Magazine where she revealed some things about her father.
After being called to bar in Abuja, Nigeria’s federal capital, Sarah was also listed among those who will be called to bar in New York in January, 2016.
I am grateful to God, my family and friends who have been of help to me. I am humbled and privileged to have succeeded. Thus, I am very happy.
How does it feel being the first daughter of Prophet T.B Joshua?
I am privileged and fortunate to be the daughter of such a humble and great man of God called TB Joshua.
He is someone I look up to because my father is a man of God and he has been able to guide me every time I need him.
I am too happy, so humble to be his daughter. He has been a good guide.
Thus I can’t afford to disappoint him and God because to whom much is given, much is expected. And I love him.
How will you describe him, is he a good father?
He is a true example of humility. I have seen so many attributes in him that is worthy to emulate.
He is the best father everybody can pray to have. I am not just saying that because he is my father but because it’s the truth.
Also, it’s not what I think about him or what people think about him that count but what God says about him.
Some people do not understand him. They even have wrong impression about him, what’s your take on that?
That’s why I said he is a true man of God and it’s not what people say that count but what God says.
Everybody has the right to air his opinion but God’s opinion counts most.
sonOfLucifer: Hi bro, how's work? Still stuck on Netflix?
Hi my negro, Been trying to take my two online buzinezz to the next level....haven't succeeded as such yet so I'm shelving them from Monday till mid Feb. got more productive things to burn my time on.
Netflix rocks. Did I tell you I discovered you can get full content by tunneling? So I got tunnelbear, $3'99 and you get NetFlix on steroids. Watched a few flicks, documentaries the best being Broke about how pro-athletes go broke.....watched some UFO shiet. UFOlogy is a bloody religion, not sure why it pretends to be science.....can't bring meself to watch no series since Breaking Bad....the suspense will last my lifetime bro. All tv series look crappier than Nollywood's finest
Movie menu for Friday; 1. Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels 2. The Departed 3. The Heat 4. The Sting (1973)
Sarassin: What a pompous windbag. Shame your religion breeds little more than invertebrate foo.ls like you. What's your problem? did you run out of fellow believers to scare and chastise? Just wind your neck in and go your merry way. I don't have your time.
Listen up kid, Your infantile tantrums are amusing at best but I'm more interested in testing that garbage you have been feeding on else you are not worth my while.
Candour: Its because the G.O/HQ see the branch Churches as well......branches of a conglomerate with a mandate to raise funds for the HQ. Hence no thought for the hardship these small branches go through in the process. Its the same way banks pressurize their branches to churn out profits.
Also on the mega status of these churches, how else does the G.O show he has a direct line to God if not by the size of his 'flock'? Ego is important in this business bro...
Anglicans, Catholics etc see the headquarters bear a lot of burden for the smaller less buoyant branches and its so commonsensical that I wonder how it escapes our famous G.O's.
Giving in the bible is meant to be from the buoyant to the needy and less privileged.
Very true my broda...ego compels them more than nothing else; mega-structures,jets and so forth. Pushing struggling churches I think is twice as bad where the mother church does little to help them with nothing as they get established
There is no such thing as spiritual abuse. This is the same spirit spiri crap that the abusers use to mentally exploit the sheep.
What we are discussing here is plain old financial fraud, short and simple.
Remove your sand filled head from the sand and call a spade a spade.
Spiritual abuse , my asxx.
My Negro, There is something called spiritual abuse which of course means abuse of the authority by a spiritual leader. This is no spiri spiri sir, just plain old manipulation and excessive and unhealthy control of congregants. I had a thread about it here, make time and go through the book. The problem is bigger than church expenditure. How do they get the money in the first place?
Rose2014: Well said my brother. That was the same kind of issue I had with RCCG. And it had to do with church building collection too I'm one person that understand the principle of giving. If we have a project, you don't need to preach before I make my own little contribution. I'm naturally not a stingy person so it's easy for me to help out in my own capacity. But I have a BIG problem when the sermon begins to sound like people are being blackmailed to give for all kinds of things. For example, That you gave money for building is not enough if you didn't give for pastor's birthday or you didn't give offering or you missed tithe or you didn't contribute for a visiting pastor. All the different giving mutually exclusive Imagine being told in church that the reason people are having a certain problem is because they didn't give in church. For example, your car broke down because you didn't pay tithe, or put differently, if you pay tithe, your car won't break down.smh. It has gotten to the point that if you have N50,000 tithe and you see a person needs N50,000 to start/save his life, you're not allowed to save that life with that 50K cos it's fit the church. Whatever happens to Mathew 24:45 "Then the King will answer, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for Me.'" I thought I had heard it all until one day a visiting pastor came. He was trying to get donations especially from men(women are always easy to convince) and was telling the church that if a man needs his wife to conceive and he's not paying tithe, he's wasting his time. I just felt my sensibility has bn insulted enough Each day we're told how we now live under grace but when it comes to giving, we must go back to Old Testament and emphasize it.
And why sending such a high percentage to headquarters when a project is ongoing thereby putting members under constant but avoidable pressure?
However it's almost everywhere these days. I was watching a pastor on TV saying that if you're poor and in debt, bring whatever u have left(literarily) and sow into his ministry if you want a turnaround. Can u believe that?
Don't blame the pastors or the church itself, blame the fanatical members.
Good morning to you
There is widespread spiritual abuse in the body of Christ. The best cure against these atrocities which may be consciously or unconsciously perpetrated is the Word of God. If you are firmly grounded in the word of God, you won't be carried away by every wind of doctrine.
For instance, one should with scriptures refute the teaching that not tithing earns you a curse. One also needs a good grip of History, Christian History that is. You can interrogate a doctrine and find it is no older than 50 years and was totally unheard of for over 1900 years of Christendom.
I asked the OP what he was doing about it apart from opening threads on NL. Does he intend to depart from his faith because he is grossly offended? Or has he already left the faith? Offenders will truly come from all corners. It's a matter of when not if. One needs to guard their hearts against taking offenses
"As a rule, a christian must not attempt this unless it is initiated by the Holy Spirit"
I had a nearly somewhat out of body experience without seeing it coming.
Early morning say abt 15 past 7, just after reading through certain scriptures n the bible and asking the Holy Spirit to guide n teach me through the word. After I was done, I decided to lay down awhile. I drifted n before I could say jack see the lights so bright and the fan going sooo high. I was about wondering what that was about when allova sudden I kinda realise I'm moving on upwards into some kinda clear void with bright colours everywhere up there. Was moving up so fast I could even feel my physical feet were in speed motion, I'm tryna reckon what's happening and immediately I realise I'm seeing really clearly but then it's not with my two physical eyes but some very big bright eye, actually bigger than my normal physical eyes n wayyyyy brighter. At the realisation of the thot that for the first time I might be having an out of body experience and having full knowledge of it, I became afraid and try to stop this occurrence by forcing my physical body to wake up. But the spirit man already involved refuses the physical to wake up. The body however takes precedence and forces itself up,unsure of what was happening or where the spirit was headed for. Immediately I wake up and I'm aghast n wondering ;God what was that about just now? I don't remember wanting such an experience so why did it happen and where was I even headed for? These were questions left in my head n for the rest of the day I experienced the worst headache ever. I tried to go back to sleep countless times to ease the headache that had defiled all workings of the pcm I took to no avail. Of course I do have some little knowledge of astral travelling n stuff cos of my exposure to the rampa books but I know trying the astral travelling wasn't in my agenda, the fear of it alone cudnt have made me delve, this however brings me back to the reason for this post, why did I have that experience, was it from God or otherwise? Cos I know just as u explained above that it is not our place to be overly inquisitive of such things as astral travel save of course it's inspired by the Holy Spirit.
Sorry for the missive and bless u as u help a sister decipher this out.
Thanks
P:S- wrote in a hurry, apologies for any mistypes
Thank you beloved siz. As Pentecostalism was hitting Western countries in the 20th century, Eastern Mysticism was also making inroads. From the West both of these came to Africa. So one does not need to study Asian and Indian books, we have far too many purveyors of Westernized Eastern religions like Lampa and Depak Chopra.
Eastern Mysticism is at its base antiChristian. See while in Christianity we have fallen man, weak man who needs God(Jesus) to condescend to his level to save him, Eastern mysticism is all about a strong man, it's about tapping into some latent power in man. In short, Eastern religions are inward looking while Christianity is outward looking.
A culture that has not encountered Christianity or Judaism is not going to turn to God. They are lost regardless of how innocent they practice their religion. This was Paul's encounter on Mar's Hill. It's why God drove away the inhabitants of Canaan. It's also why African religions are incompatible with Christianity.
Back to your experience. THIRD EYE is certainly not Christian. This rules out your experience as being of God. Secondly, even the instances we see in the scriptures what we may call out of body experiences, they are totally spiritual, they have a goal, usually to receive revelation from God. They are not just wild spiritual tourism.
What to do? First, discard eastern mysticism and New Age literature. In Acts 19:19, they burned very expensive magic books after they met Christ.
Secondly, do not practice those exercises they teach there, transcendental meditation, Yoga, acupuncture and so forth.
Thirdly, you need to pray and fast and ask God to sever any ties you may have created through these books and exercises.
Finally, should such experiences visit upon you, you need to take your position as a believer. You have authority. Resist them in the mighty name of Jesus Christ
One thing that is clear to me is even in our sleep we are still Christians. So we should not participate in ungodly stuff just because it is in a dream. And if we do, the first thing after waking up is renouncing them.
VomeSchakleton: Is that what you tell yourself when you go to bed? Is that what you think justifies your joke of a religion? Christians love? Looool! This world has always been shiit, bad things happen, it's just the way the world is designed. Long before Christianity and long before islam. Your christians have killed more people than these so called muslims ever will, I didn't pull it out of the air, it's a fact! Look around the world! You can agree satanic beings are at the helm of affairs, in such instances who do you think will be villianised? It's no biggie, Muslims accept this, the prophet (pbuh) professed this. Life, death. Is death not better? People are going crazy in pursuit of temporary wealth when true wealth lies in salvation and to me nothing Truely offers salvation than a pure death. But ofcourse this is what your pastors tell you. Muslims breed hatred that's why they die. So sometimes it even pleases you because you think it justifies why one could possible read that book of yours and conclude it isn't just one big joke! Maybe you believe African Americans are bad and kill each other because they breed hatred! Where do you think the root of their problem lies? Do you think God made them the way they are like the media would want you to believe? Sometimes it's hard to blame these arabs even though I condemn their actions. Their lands are pillaged and their women's raped. Drone strikes don't discriminate, young or old, guilty or innocent. We why won't the innocent turn guilty after you've orphaned him, hurt him, decapitated him. Most of them have nothing to lose.
I don't want your replies, I'm not new here, I'm very familiar with truthman2012, Malvisguy212 Parisbookaddict true2god and all these hypocrites, I know they do not search for truth but their aim is to insult, so I've given up on these souls, I literally stopped checking this section because sometimes seeing the sort of madness these people spew makes me weep, if only they knew. So no dear stranger, I do not want replies. I may be a little ashamed of my rants earlier, not that they don't deserve it bit this isn't how a Muslim is supposed to act. At a point I decided engaging in these discussions where fruitless, but his question was pretty straightforward and I thought a simple answer would put this to rest, I forgot the sort of num skulls I was dealing with. You can read my comments, my intentions were nothing but pure in the beginning.
So don't you come here trying to villianise me, I have just about had enough of you christians and your double standards and selective morality. In case you're wondering this isn't a new topic, this is a topic that has been created and debunked by muslims before when we used to give a fvck, but they brought it up again, because they're sleek self loathing destructive liars who instead of finding solace in their religion relish stirring up hatred and pointing fingers at others.
I realise now my earlier decision to ignore these topics was the best one. But just a word to the Op and his gang of confused nincompoops, this is useless. You're not hurting anyone's faith but yours, as a matter of fact, bar the insults all this does is strengthen my faith in the one true Religion. Islam has been here long before you were born and it will remain, strong and growing long after you are gone which is a lot more than I can say about your religion, these are facts.
I have never been more proud to call myself a Muslim than I am right now, at this moment and I hope this feeling grows tomorrow. We muslims refuse to abandon our faith. We muslims refuse conformity if it means living with the rules of men over that of our creator, we refuse to accept that which our creator forbade. We refuse to embrace political correctness if it means embracing the laws of satan and his order.
My silence continues. Alhamdulillah.
[/size] Idiot, no more shooting yourself in the foot by mocking virgin birth by Daughter of Imran.
Once again, real heroes are fighting kaffir in Somalia,Iraq,Syria and Yemen not blabbering on Nairaland. You are a coward who can't even comprehend your moronic religion
Sarassin: There is nothing pseudo-scientific about past life regression therapy as a tool, for amongst other things healing.
You really make me laugh, and who died and designated you grand inquisitor of Nairaland pages? I suggest past life regression therapy for you, very likely in a previous incarnation you were a religious inquisitor, you could do with some healing.
Whatever gives you the impression I have any interest in indulging you? “wants to test my abilities” What a clown.
bashbabe2: Do not stoop low to thier level. You have given them proof but no matter what proof you show they won't be satisfied. what they are good at is insults and abuse and cursing which they have managed to drag you into. Just calm down and end the insult.
Bro, Nobody in their right mind can ever stoop to his level of insults. We are by far too civilized and highly evolved to do that
Now, Whenever you idiotic worshippers of camel piss drinking sexual perv called Mo mock Virgin birth and claim that Mary was sodomized by Holy Spirit, remember you are shooting your own hooves because your filthy Quran records virgin birth. If Holy Spirit raped Mary then Issa's father is jibreel. How does this sit with you? Bloody braindead m0rons
This is the lesson I have effectively drilled down the thick and empty skull of VomeSchakleton. You appear to be slightly more intelligent than him so pass in this message to him. Case closed!
Truthman2012, Profuse apologies for derailing your thread, I felt like this lesson had to be delivered to these unthinking Neanderthals. Please carry on with your quest for LOVE from the primitive book of hatred and violence
Sarassin: There is nothing demonic about people retaining memories pre-birth and particularly of previous lives. There is presently a burgeoning industry in past-life regression conducted under deep hypnosis whereby people have been able to recall verifiable details of past life events, there are those who can recall such events without the aid of hypnotherapy.
That belongs to the realm of pseudoscience bro. Eastern mysticism under a thin veneer of science. Zero evidence of the same btw.
Remote viewing is palpably distinct from Astral Projection, I will not go into subtleties as one must not upset the religious folk on these pages, suffice to say that in one procedure if done properly, the etheric plasma is involved and in the other not so. There are no demons involved in the process but a novice practitioner can be subjected to buffeting from lower elemental entities.
New Age horse manure per excellence
What else, Sirius, Nibiru and what have you
Since you pass yourself as somewhat knowledgeable in these New Age and Eastern mysticism, what is your specialty? I want to test your abilities right here
