It reminded me why 90% of Nigerian technocrats fail when given an Executive responsibility.

The fellow says he has been thinking of the subsidy problem for 11 yrs and yet he came to the weakest and laziest conclusion of "remove the subsidy".

The same subsidy that Buhari denied existed before he got there and since he got to the throne he has removed it thrice. Lol.

The fellow even mentioned that petrol will rise to N500 and moved on as if that means very little.

At N500 a litre most Nigerians will have to walk to work as they will be unable to afford public transport.

At N500 a litre inflation that Nigerians are crying about now will spiral out of control as 70% of small businesses use a petrol generator so their costs will likely double at the minimum.

Diesel is already N900 a litre. It will be close to N2000 by then. Forcing most large commercial vehicles off the roads.

The cost of transporting foodstuff from the hinterland to the cities will go off the charts.

All of this will happen with the Naira falling everyday, with the govt not generating enough income AND with the politicians stealing like they always do.

Therefore a perfect storm to the greatest economic collapse of the 21st century as a country with 90m extremely poor people becomes a country with 190m extremely poor people.

Greece and Venezuela will be child's play compared to what will happen here.

This is why I called this poster a rather unimaginative fellow. After 11 yrs of thinking about a problem he came up with the same solution that the most incompetent and corrupt govt ever in the history of this country also came up with.

Nigeria does not have a subsidy problem but a corruption problem. Those figures that NNPC gives as our consumption are 50X higher than the real thing.

They include all the petrol smuggled into our neighbours AND petrol that was NEVER imported.

It doesn't stop there. Nobody audits the figures that this govt claims it pays as subsidy. So after NNPC drops it's fake figures. The govt inflates it again and claims it's paying subsidy on that amount.

The fraud that was NNPC took on a whole new dimension when Buhari took over as Minister of Petroleum.

His kinsmen made NNPC the most corrupt govt organisation in the world.

Now they have privatised it so that the corruption can continue under the next govt.

The moment a new govt cleans the dirty Petroleum Ministry and the NNPC, we will see reasonable figures AND that is the only time you can make an informed decision about the subsidy.

Never forget, every working economy on earth provides some type of subsidies for its citizens.

UK, UAE, Germany, US and Canada.
