BusinessRe: CBN Sets N50,000 As Daily Limit On Contactless Payments by waice6571: 8:54am On Jun 29, 2023
Although the information from the CBN presume everyone that every Nigerian have a fair knowledge of how "Contactless" transaction works. But in reality, it is a new financial terminology to large number of people that have access to internet while others outside this category are still living in the stone age ...

Contactless transactions is not operating in the same technology as your bank app or your magnetic stripped card system. It uses radio frequency identification to interact with paying and receiving parties within a specified radius.
It is a secured means of transaction where your information is encoded and cannot be traced by any other parties including government agencies and Central Bank. (Untraceable Transactions)

Did you now see the reason why the use must be regulated before it becomes generally accepted.

We neither classified them as an "accursed" the only problem with most of them (not all of them) is their inability to treat others with fair respect and dignity that was accorded to them.

Feed them in the morning, before your food settles down in their lungs, they are already throwing slurs at your tribe

They never appreciate other peoples contributions and efforts towards their success. For instance; millions of Hausas and Yorubas stood with Peter Obi in the last general elections, but the Obiduents sees it as only Igbo affairs and achievements.

Which real issue are you talking about? when fear and lack of courage has been embodied in your DNA
If you talk of DNA of people without an iota of courage, I think you should look inward into your tribesmen.

In our recent past ......DJ SWITCH, FALS and Debo MACARONI played major role in struggle against police brutality in Nigeria in the year 2020. The only person that ran away into exile for fear arrest is the only Igbo amongst the three .... Typical of her forefathers.

If you read Major Ademoyega's book, Why We Struck, you will understand that he displayed typical Omluabi nature in that he abhorred killings and preferred the politicians to be arrested.

And let me correct this stereotype of Yorubas as cowards. Historically, the Yorubas have been the bravest soldiers and leaders in Nigeria.

Chief Obafemi Awolowo, for instance, would never have done what Nnamdi Azikiwe and Colonel Emeka Ojukwu did. Azikiwe snuck out of Biafra in 1969 and turned up in Lagos, sitting beside Gowon, and condemned Biafra and Ojukwu. Colonel Ojukwu himself fled Biafra on January 11, 1970.

Awolowo would never do that? Chief Awolowo had the opportunity to leave Nigeria and go into exile when he was accused of treason in 1962. Kwame Nkrumah offered him that option. But he stayed. He fought the case. He was convicted in 1963, went to prison and never begged to be released. He continued to control the Action Group from Calabar prison.

Major General Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi was a guest of Col. Adekunle Fajuyi on July 29, 1966. When Northern troops, led by then Major Theophilus Danjuma, came to arrest Ironsi, he refused to release him. He was told he could replace Ironsi, but he would not budge. He chose to die with his guest! Today, his sacrifice is not appreciated by some of the people who should appreciate it. Instead, some people accuse the Yoruba of betrayal.

Also, when the then US Ambassador to Nigeria, Walter Carrington, told General Obasanjo not to return to Nigeria from Copenhagen because Abacha would arrest him on charges of coup plotting, General Obasanjo instead brought forward his return date. When asked why he returned to Nigeria, he posited that if he returned, Abacha would be less likely to kill those already arrested, especially his friend, Shehu Musa Yar’adua.

How many Nigerians do you know who can behave so honourably?

Major General Tunde Idiagbon was abroad in Mecca when Babangida and Sani Abacha overthrew him and Major General Buhari. But he returned.

Finally, there is the case of MKO Abiola, who returned to reclaim his mandate from Nigeria’s most brutal military dictator ever. He was arrested in 1994. He was offered bail, but refused freedom in exchange for abandoning his mandate. This was a multimillionaire in US Dollars. Yet, Bashorun chose prison over freedom. He did not run away and abandon his people.

The Yoruba are a very tactful and diplomatic people. They tend to be contemplative, rather than impulsive. These are attributes that some people mistake for cowardice or sycophancy. They are people who understand how to stoop to conquer.

No Yoruba leader would abandon his people and side with their opponents during a war or flee and leave them to their fate. Others may behave like that, but not Omo Oduduwa!

Thanks again, and may God bless you.

Adonispco:
Am sorry for my writing pattern; I am in a serious dilemma since January.

I live in a face me I slap you house with just four co-tenants and the landlord.

There is this neighbour of mine that parked in on December 2021, a married man with three kids; two daughters and a son,the eldest daughter should be around 14 years old while the son and the last daughter should be about 4 & 2 years respectively.

We where living in peace although one has to make tolerance a friend for there to be peace.
These my neighbour's eldest daughter to be honest is morally bankrupted, she steals and lies without remorse.

My neighbour's wife always try to cover up her daughter bad behaviours. During christmas time 2022, I noticed a sudden suspicious behaviours from my neighbours wife towards me in particular; she does as if am a diabolic person, as a cool headed guy I focused on my life until on January 21 2023 when I heard the worst words towards my dignity and reputation as a common person;

Fellow nairalanders guess what? My neighbours wife accused me of poisoning his two little kids.

As a cool guy and from what i learnt never to take action when angry, I maintained like its nothing but told our landlord.

My neighbour who is a driver usually travels and can stay there for weeks, so I have to wait for the man of the house to return and hear from him before taking action, so on 29 January he returned, a general yard meeting processed; he was asked to explain more on the accusation from his wife towards me and this was what he said;

"Someone in our yard premises poisoned his children using mirinda and biscuit" that we all are lucky nothing happened to his kids otherwise he will call the police to arrest everybody in our yard.

When asked how he found out that it was someone from our yard and what sickness his children suffered; he said that his children were vomiting blood in the middle of the night, and he went to a spiritual doctor who told him that it was someone from the yard he lives in.

Please Nairalanders what will I do cause I have tried to let go of this heavy accusation but it havent been easy and to make matters worse the once loved innocent easy going guy have become a depressed soul due to the crack on my previous solid reputation.

Please anyone with a good pragmatic solution should help a brother.
I think you should grow up a bit and behave like a matured person. Do you think everyone is gullible and naive like you who found it difficult to read in-between the lines.

You created an untrue storyline without shame... even lazy mods on Nairaland was decieved to move your lies to the front page......

FamilyRe: My Personal Observation About Nigerian "Adults" by waice6571: 4:22pm On May 27, 2023
CuriousCart:
I have noticed that most Nigerians are adults by age only and not thought. 80% of adults lack a clue about their next move and direction.

They usually copy what other successful people around them are doing on the surface.

If a colleague buys a car, they start getting worked up until they also buy a car. If a neighbour opens a shop for his wife they rush to open a shop too. If their friend is into tech, they abandon their budding career and start taking tech courses upandan.

I think the copiers do this because they believe mimicking will make them reach the same goals as the person but they fail to realize that life doesn't work that way because there are many unseen events and efforts that may have led to the copyee's success.

The colleague who bought a car may have been gifted by a sugar daddy or recently lost a parent and inherited the car while you are planning to use your entire savings plus loan.
The neighbour opening a shop may have had 15 years experience in that biz line while you just want to dive into it blindly.
The tech guy may just have the brains for it while you are more likely to succeed at sales.

Finally, when they are done copying and don't achieve the same successful result as the copyee, the next thing is to accuse him/her of using juju and using people's destiny to succeed.

Just do you.
Your observation is good but not all encompassing! I do not understand how you come about your 80% statistical figure but I think you are exaggerating.

Nigerians are innovative dynamic and forward looking people even in the face of obscurities, helplessness and hopelessness yet, we are striving hard to make ends meet.

Why do you think almost everyone want to 'japa' to other countries where things work? We have examples of people who travelled to another economy and after few months or years, someone classified as a lazy bone in Nigeria will be making a legitimate money and living his dreamt life. We all have one story or the other close to us.

You don't expect too much from the citizens of a country where there are no systems to plug into to thrive...... Not everyone will be a business owner in life.

Your line of thought corresponds with Buhari's who called Nigerian youth lazy even when his policies are draining the economy and making life difficult for the citizens.

it's not good to let emotions get the better of you while responding to someone on a forum because what you see is just a text. You may misread a genuine question as mockery because all you see is text. You cannot see the facial expressions of the person who asked it.

I specifically stated that I'm not trying to be insensitive so that no one misunderstands the text. If I asked you in person, I will not need to say that because my tone and facial expressions will give you the proper context.
Dear Johnbull... If you look critically into my choice of words and the manner of expression, you can easily deduce that, I am only responding to your question and not being emotional.

That Christian Atsu got a state burial in his country of birth at age 31 and being among 54,000 who died unexpectedly due to unavoidable natural disaster is sobering and anger inducing enough to ask some questions under the guise of insensitivity.

To you, he is not a hero, but to some, a small god! If the best way to grief his loss is what they have done, that tells us that, his very short live was meaningful and impacts others positively.

Above all, I never wish you evil in my mention, but, just pulling a sarcasms and rhetorics in one sentence.

Canada is a better study option as they have gotten their acts together, UK is still going through a transition and as such, rules aren't set in stone yet
What exactly is my gain if I am creating panic online for people who are willing to, and the financial means to better their lot in life by migrating into a better economy than ours.

People liked to be told exactly what they want to hear and face reality when they might made serious mistakes of their lives.

This is what I do for a living and I still have clients due for submission this week.... I swear, people should calm down on UK Study or skilled worker for now to avoid story that touches the heart.
