A Nigerian Photographer has expressed her views on church wedding, in her words

"Church wedding is not compulsory ooo. It's fine if you do it if you love the glamour and the whole experience of a church wedding. It is not a sin to do church wedding. In fact, it is an opportunity to have your brother's and sisters in church celebrate a great day in your life.

Now, it is also not a sin to not do church wedding. It was not commanded by God. No Apostle mentioned it. Jesus did not recommended it. It's just one of those things the church decided to start doing.
It means that if you do not like the drama around Church weddings, you may opt out. If you do not have the financial strength, you may drop it. Don't make life harder on yourself.

That established, the bible fully acknowledges a marriage between a man and his wife in the presence of family, friends and well wishers. The pastor may be invited to join them and pray for them. Also, the marriage needs to be registered at the Registry with the government and that's all to give it legal backing.

Don't kill yourself over what God did not send you. Do what you can do and move on. What the Bible disapproves is cohabitation and sexual relations outside marriage."

This is not funny

So at Flavours Concert In Enugu yesterday, it was alleged that over 20 girls were raped, and some experienced rape in the presence of their boyfriends. A twitter user by name @Naturize9 took to her handle to blast organizers for not providing adequate security.

According to her tweet above ; she stated that the concert was a failure and would never return to Enugu. She further stated that the rapist came in with  condoms and knife like claws which they use in tearing apart jeans trousers of ladies.

NYSC 2018 Service Year is a dream for every Nigerian student who recently graduated, it doesn’t matter which batch you are mobilized, either NYSC 2018 Batch A , B, or C. As a young graduate, adequate preparation would preparation your mind for the 3 weeks NYSC Camp. Therefore, it’s a must that you should empower yourself with information about NYSC 2018 Service Year that will prevent the unforeseen and enable you make informed decisions. Wakabobo.com has decided to highlight and discuss in detail necessary requirements and all to expect as a Potential Nigerian NYSC 2018 Service Year Candidate.



So lets quickly discuss some if not all requirements for a successful camping exercise irrespective of your posted location in the country

 

 LAUNDRY,TOILETS & BATHROOMS FACILITIES

In about 95% of the NYSC Camps in Nigeria, there exist no standard laundry or toilet facilities. You might have to create a laundry timing for yourself and also watch out for your items so they don’t get stolen.  If you are coming from an AJEBUTTER Life, you have to equip yourself properly “do not expect the best”.  Most camps if not all do not have good toilets and bathrooms. Some people have to bath outside , some in the bush.  Often times you might need to wake up early to use the facility or better still wake up early and bath outside, it might save you a lot more. (Infections, etc.)

 


SECURITY

In Your stay as a  2018 Service Year Corp Member, your Safety  should be your priority right from the first minute you step into camp till after you step out of camp. You don’t know the kind of human beings you would mix up with. Just try as much as possible to have a  kind of safe lock for your bags. Most importantly you don’t have to show off or flaunt what you have then you are calling the petty thieves to come collect what they want. Note that nothing is too small to be stolen o!.






Be very careful with your belongings… For example, don’t leave your phone or purse on your bed and turn away for a minute. Don’t get me wrong, the camp is pretty safe. But some cases of theft were reported in my hostel as well as others. There are no locks on hostel doors so everyone including non-corpers (e.g. women who hawk goods) have access to these hostels. So, ensure you up your skills in keeping your things safe always and don’t start trusting anyone soon.

 


HAVE ENOUGH CASH FOR SPENDING.

Your NYSC 2018 Service Year is not complete without having enough money at hand . You pay to charge phones, pay to wash , some pay to eat (mammi). pay to even use clean toilets. So just try o and have enough cash. But having experienced being broke (you might not get an ATM to withdraw money), I’ll say please bring pocket money… But also learn to budget. Don’t spend extravagantly… Be very frugal in your spending. Don’t buy everything you see… Also don’t allow camp photographers take pictures of you randomly- of course unless it is part of your plan. Be kind to others but also ensure you are not careless with your spending.



KITCHEN FOOD

I never ate camp food for once ,i only used my kitchen card to collect bread once. It all depends on you ,Some corpers are ‘allergic’ to eating from camp kitchen so they end up spending a huge part of their pocket-money in ‘Mami market.’  The government paid loads to ensure you have three square meal per day. Don’t miss the opportunity to use your meal ticket. Okay, they don’t cook the best meal. But trust me, it is not that bad. You can complement what the kitchen  provide with fruits from Mammi market.






BE SOCIAL

Make friends , no one is an island . Camp is an opportunity for you to make friends .Camp life is pretty stressful. Being around the right people or having the right people around you will help you stay sane. But don’t be too desperate about making friends that you land in the wrong company. Try to have fun… and relax. Don’t complain too much. Moaning and depressing murmurings will leave you exhausted. Avoid depressing conversations if possible.



 

EXPECT THE WORST

Do not got to camp expecting everything to be as you planned or have been told. Things change . So the best advice i can give you is just to expect the worst.






MAMMY MARKET

Almighty Mammy market is the happening place in camp. It is the spot where things are sold on camp. And yes, things are very expensive there. The traders/retailers there blame the inflation in the market on camp officials. They say they were charged mercilessly for their rented space. So corpers bear the burden. To avoid being exploited in this market, try as much as you can to come with  all the things you need . The traders know that you don’t have any other choice than o buy it there. In mammy is where you have different canteens and restaurants and bars. Some corpers resume their early in the morning and close with them at night sef .lol. Its just the happening place in camp There is no camp without mammy market.




RELIGIOUS ACTIVITIES

In every camp there are various worship groups but the only recognized ones by the NYSC officials are the NCCF (National christian corpers fellowship) and MCAN (Muslim corpers association of Nigeria) . There are also Winners christian fellowship , Catholic fellowship , Believers world and even deeper life fellowship.  Actually due to the various activities in camp one may even not attend there religious activities but that’s no excuse o.There are also other activities competing for attention. Not to forget how tiring waking up early for all those activities can be. But try to maintain a healthy time for devotion. Attend the (NCCF), Catholic or Muslim fellowship where applicable… Don’t neglect your faith. Fellowship with brethren revitalizes.






 

BE ACTIVE

During Your NYSC 2018 Service Year do not just go to camp and warm he bench or beds ,participate in events and activities in your various platoons where possible. There game teams like football, volleyball etc. for both male and female. There are also other competitions like miss nysc, other beauty pageants, Mr macho , Mr nysc, drama presentations , talent hunts and much more .

Try as much as you can to be active on camp… Volunteer to serve in the different groups- Nigeria red  cross, OBS, man o’ war, etc. When in your platoon, also try as much as you can to participate in the group activities.

All the team dynamics is part of the learning process. Active participation is not necessarily to get cheap recognition… Or massage your ego. It is just that there is no need to tiptoe through camp… You won’t have the experience twice.

Some of the seminars are annoying or a time-waster but try as much as you can not to stay idle…listen up anyway. Maximize all learning avenues. Check out items you should not forget while preparing for camp below.






 ITEMS YOU SHOULD NOT FORGET TO NYSC CAMP

Lastly, I want you to quickly go through the necessary items you should not forget while packing your bags for a successful camping exercise.

Authentic Student ID Card – (Original and photocopies)
2.Certificate /Statement of Result from your School (Original and 6 Photocopies) in addition if you are a Medical Doctor, Pharmacist or an Optometrist you will be expected to bring along original of your registration certificate with the Nigerian Medical Council, Pharmacist Board or Optometrist Registration Council and evidence of completion of housemanship or internship.

NYSC Call-up letter (Original and 6 photocopies)
Recent Passport Photograph – WHITE BACKGROUND (24 copies)
Compulsory medical certificate from a government or military hospital showing health status.
Going to camp with the above listed documents and items will get you through your registration at the orientation camp, up to the point of collection of mattress and your NYSC KIT. The NYSC kit consists of: 2 round neck loosely fitted white T-shirts, 2 pair of white shorts, One NYSC crested vest, a pair of NYSC khaki (Jacket, Belt and trousers), a crested NYSC cap, a pair of Jungle boots, a pair of NYSC white tennis shoes.

However here’s a list of 10 survival kits during the three weeks.

ROUND-NECKED WHITE T-SHIRTS : This is an essential outfit worn everyday in camp throughout your 3 weeks .
WHITE SHORTS: NYSC would give 2 pairs of shorts you may need extra 4pairs so as not to be stranded because you wouldn’t be able to wash daily.
PLAIN WHITE TENNIS SHOES/ WHITE SOCKS: It’s advisable you get one pair of rubber to save yourself from stress alongside leather tennis shoes.
CEREALS/PROVISIONS: Essential for those who would not like camp food with cup, plate, water bottle(useful on parade ground or long hours lectures)
TOILETRIES: antiseptics, insecticides, towel, sanitary pads, this is essential to keep you from infections and skin reactions.
MOSQUITO NET: Take along with a rope to tie it to your bunk to avoid malaria.
CASH: Atleast 25,000 with your ATM card ,there are lots of things that take up money in camp like food, charging of phones, e.t.c
WAIST POUCH: Very essential, it serves as your bank and locker for important items. Things like phones, money, ID card, keys, ATM cards e.t.c
TORCHLIGHT OR RECHARGEABLE LAMPS: In preparation for morning drills at 5am and at night after lights out.
PADLOCKS: please lock your boxes and bags to avoid regrets. People who lost things to theives due to carelessness
OTHERS: bed sheets, Pillow Cases,Pillow, Power bank, pain relief drugs
