Business › Re: What's Happening To Shoprite At Ikeja City Mall? by Walai(m): 4:44pm On Sep 04, 2025
They are our clients that relocated between 2015 - 2024. 50 is even a fair estimate for PH alone. Owerri, Warri and the baba of them all is Lagos.
They all Japa to Western countries majorly US, Canada, Australia, some to Germany and Switzerland for different reasons. Infact I know a US MIT trained Engr working in a major oil company then that was kidnapped twice in 6 months that left Nigeria with his family immediately.
If you have been in Nigeria, you should know what has been happening since 2015 and why they are leaving.

Gerrard59:
I'm genuinely curious, these people that left Port Harcourt, where did the majority flee to? Those that left Lagos, to where please?

Why are they running? huh

So you mean to tell me that the 1900 naira bread the poor can only offer is what drives a multimillion dollar business? Like seriously?
The upper middle class are mostly the Industrialists, Business men, Civil Servants in Managerial positions in govt offices and staff of MNC's in the oil, finance and services sectors.
The lower Middle class are mid level civil servants, Artisans and SME's entrepreneurs.
For a large scale FMCG business to survive in any area, the upper middle class is highly needed. They buy things in bulk because of their purchasing power.
The lower middle class hardly buy things in bulk and they mostly patronize local markets that are much cheaper.
Can a school principal or staff of Ministry of Agriculture for example spend 800k in one sitting just to stock up on food and groceries?

I understand this is a faceless forum but some of us are seasoned professionals in our fields and speak from experience.

seborrhic:
What makes Shop rite an upper middle class biz?
It's either you don't know what an upper middle class biz is or you are one of those that read textbooks and want to apply it to anything you come across.
A shop that all cadres of people visited because of it's considerate prices and it's uniqueness and ambience.
The truth is that cost of transportation and drastically curtailed purchasing power across board has dealth a blow on super stores like that.
Now you must either have a car to go shopping there or your biz or work path is along any of the locations,so you can easily branch to get some stuff.
Previously people of lower class could just take a cheap bus fare just to go to Shoprite to buy even just bread or hang around for the fun of it.
They can't now because it doesn't make any sense to spend 2-3k on transportation just to buy a 1900 bread.

Due to the nature of my business, I can confirm at least 50 upper middle class families with huge purchasing power I did business with that left Port Harcourt alone. The ones in Lagos is countless.
ShopRite is an upper middle class business. They left and there's no one to buy. The iPhone girls and broke boys only go there to snap pictures and look for clients to hook up with.
Politics › Re: 'Lagos Is A No Man's Land': Don't Misinterpret What I Said - Bwala by Walai(m): 3:06pm On Sep 03, 2025
Even though I am against the thuggery and toutism style Tinubu is using to rule Lagos, I support Yoruba people to crucify anybody calling Lagos a no mans land.
You lots should respect your host and go back to develop your region if you don't like Lagos, however, every Nigerian have every right to live anywhere in Nigeria be it Sokoto or Enugu and should not be discriminated in anyway.
Politics › Re: How Akunyili Fought The Cabal, And Installed Jonathan As President(Video) by Walai(m): 5:50am On Sep 03, 2025
Shes an amazon. Fearless and brave . While the cabals were trying to impersonate Yar'adua with probably a body double to continue running the Presidency, she came out openly and blew the cover, this motivated the Senate to invoke the doctrine of necessity and swear in GEJ.
It will take another 300 years before Nigeria will ever have somebody like her. If at all we will still have a country by then.
Politics › What Changed Among Hausa/fulani English Speakers? by Walai(op): 9:33pm On Sep 02, 2025
I was listening to a BBC documentary about Northern regional government and all the persons interviewed spoke pure clean English that sounded exactly British infact even students in Northern Universities interviewed spoke pure British English.
But today, the case is different when you listen to Educated Northerners speak. What changed?
As a matter of fact, the Northern tongue is more suited for pure undiluted English speaking than the thick southern tongue.
Education › Re: FG Introduces Nationwide Criminal Record Screening Of Teachers by Walai(m): 8:24pm On Sep 02, 2025
I visited a police station to have an extract of a robbery report I made a week earlier for insurance purposes. To my surprise, a female constable typed the report for me from their police log with hunch back computer.
Our police stations are under funded. Bashing them for collecting money before they render any service is unfair sometimes.

SmartPolician:
The last time I visited a police station, I didn't see a computer. Does it mean we have an analogue police?

Nigeria Police should have a database (like WAEC) where people can buy scratch cards to get the criminal records of all Nigerians, including the president's.

In fact, there should be interministerial collaborations among the judiciary, interior, defence and police affairs to maintain the database of all Nigerians who have a criminal past.

As early as 2023, once I come back from outside work after 3 weeks away from home. I will use the work bonus payment alone to shutdown the local market, freezer fully stuffed, my car and generator tanks filled to the brim and for the one week I will spend at home, I will flex all week generator on 24/7 with just savings from feeding and bonus yet my salary will not be touched but if I should live that kind of life now, both the savings from feeding, bonus and the entire salary will be gone in one week.
This man really messed up the little joy Nigerians dey get seriously

The greatest crime a woman can commit against a man is not murder, it is bringing in another man's child without the man knowing their by extinguishing the man's bloodline.

If you married her a non virgin, do DNA test first before you even touch the child she bore for you.
If she's a single mother, run like your life depends on it.
