See bah, I am Middle Belt by blood and my uncles fought this war on the Nigerian side which I still regret till today. Unfortunately because of the fact that I always stand for the truth, I have been labeled Igbo here thats by the way. If I am a war time military leader and my subordinates are discussing ceasefire with my enemies, in military terms, I will charge them for attempted coup and any unbiased person that understands military way of doing things will understand what I am saying. There are many sources bro, read all accts of the war you know and you will discover a consistent fact, Banjo initiated cease fire without Ojukwu knowing about it. Zincfingers: Kindly furnish us with this report only you had access to . Was he the leader of the Biafran government? In hindsight , the cantankerous coward Ojukwu should have opted for the so called cease fire if it was indeed offered . Poor guy later ran away in the middle of the night leaving Effiong to surrender unconditionally |

Not true bro, from all accounts of the war both the ones I have read and interviews of veterans on both sides, Victor Banjo opened up ceasefire talks with officials of Nigerian/British foreign agency without Ojukwu's authorization. Considering the nature of the situation, if you were Ojukwu you would have done the same. Those British foreign service guys are deadly as seen in their operations in conflicts around Africa. They can promise protection to them and ask them to handover Ojukwu. Infact a former Nigerian retired Senior Civil servant in Gowons govt. from Ibadan echoed this exactly the way I said it on his interview on radio Nigeria during the 15th Jan. Armed forces remembrance day last year. Factcheck0001: It's just like giving a dog a bad name just to hang it, Victor banjo wasn't killed cos of this bit for the fact he refused to advance to Yoruba land as dictated by ojukwu.
U have even forgotten that few months ago ojukwu letter to Victor banjo surface online where ojukwu told Victor banjo that his assignment is to capture Yoruba land and he ojukwu will appoint military administrators that will oversee things till they will figure out where Victor will b fixed.
That letter made Victor banjo regained his sense and he was killed |

Our reasoning level get capacity. You have given your judgement based on your petite sense of reasoning laced with ideological brain washing. Those whose reasoning capacity can process what I am saying have already gotten the message. Stop lamenting 9jatriot: I do not know what metrics you use in your own assessment, but if you consider Obi a good governor then I can imagine that your metrics must be very low quality.
With respect to the dead man, he was not close to being among the best governor in his time, not first 15 even.
Obi is best compared with Orji, Bello and Orthom. He was better than Mbadinaju at least no doubt. |

It's not in my nature to reply agbado miscreants but I have to do this for the interest of nairaland guests and for public enlightenment. I have been privileged to have access to government houses and important government officials and I can tell you for free that Yar'adua is the best and most honest governor Nigeria have ever produced. I witnessed Mbadinuju, Ngige and Peter Obi tenure in Anambra and whether you like it or not, PO is the best governor comparable only to Yar'adua. Believe whatever you want to believe but FYI, I witnessed live the swearing in of OBJ in 1999 at Eagle square. I'm no kid Basic123: This your narratives about your saviour Peter OBI has been debunked several times by his successors and the debt management office I don't know about yaradua Sha 9jatriot: Yar Adua better than Donald Duke?? I know you did that just to insert another failure Obi into the discussion. Obi is in the same category as Ortom, Bello and Orji.
Yar Adua was no where close to top 15 in his time, he may not have been known to be corrupt but nothing else. Some argue that he was mostly sick during his tenure and may have impacted his performance, but Obi was not sick so no excuse for poor performance. And please this is not about Obi, do not insert him into this discuss. |

Its OBJ thing, if its PDP thing Atiku would have had his way. Are you aware that as of 2002-2005, Atiku had all Northern PDP caucus and state Chairmen in his pocket? Then again, if its PDP thing, Odili would have had his way to VP with Yar'adua. We Nigerians underate OBJ because of petty politics. He is in the level of Nelson Mandela in my estimation. Apart from him, which other Nigerian President have been able to pull American President to Nigeria? Not once, twice Jeezuzpick: Besides, Yar'Adua was from North Central as against Atiku from North East.
I'm not sure it was so much an OBJ thing as it was a PDP thing. Of course, one will not discount what you said about their (OBJ and Atiku's) falling out. You're very correct about that.
As for me, I just can't help thinking an Atiku presidency would be a disaster for Nigeria. |
Politics › Re: Obasanjo: I'm Getting Closer To Departure Lounge by Walai(m): 3:38pm On Aug 25, 2025 |
Yar'adua was the best Governor and best Presidential material of his time. He is the only Governor apart from PO that saved and handed over huge money to his successor with zero debt. Go and check his records in Katsina state. If Yar'adua contests Presidential election today, I will vote for him. 9jatriot: Pairing Yar Adua and GEJ was his greatest undoing in terms of a successor plan but then what were his options? Odili was one of the hopeful, but to me not a good choice, Donald Duke was another hopeful, but being from the South, replacing another southerner was not going to work and Obj knew that.
Next was Atiku but he had fallen out of favor so Obj was not going to support him. I cannot remember who the nortrhers that were in conntensions were but for some weird reason, he went to recruit Yar Adua who was not even nursing any ambition and not particularly impressive as a governor. of Katstina state. |

When you guys hype Tinubu, I keep wondering whether it's the same person that lost a state he governed for eight years and the whole of South to an unknown party even when he is the flag bearer of the ruling party. The North saved Tinubus ass because they are afraid of Obi whose agenda they are not sure of. Stop this annoying hyping, Tinubus is nobody in politics, he is just another money bag who bribes to have his way. yemmit90: Nothing like that will happen if he pick one of them again, especially if the person is more influential than Shettima . Politics is a game of numbers, you don't deal with someone who cannot command large numbers of votes as expected. For instance, Obi would've won that election if he had picked an influential Northerner who can bring 3 millions votes in 2023 presidential election.
Tinubu is not just a politician but field marshal in the game of politics. His judgment, whether he retain Shettima or not will always lead to his victory as incumbent. |

Now, I came across an organic crate of egg for $16.99, 30 medium sized eggs in a crate. Now, I remembered I spoke with a friend in Lagos last week who priced a similar crate of egg at 6000Naira, Yes ! you heard me right! 6000Naira! Folks in Nigeria do not know how good they have it Living in Nigeria so next time you complain about Nigeria, remember a fresh organic crate of egg goes for N6000 and things are way cheaper in Nigeria compared to the western countries.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has inaugurated a 110-member Organising Committee to oversee preparations for its 2025 elective national convention scheduled for November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The inauguration, announced in a statement on Monday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, follows the resolution of the National Executive Committee (NEC) to convene the convention as part of efforts to strengthen internal democracy and reposition the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the statement, the committee will be responsible for coordinating logistics, ensuring compliance with party guidelines, and delivering a smooth convention. The committee is chaired by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, with Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State serving as Deputy Chairman, Kabir Tanimu Turaki, SAN, as Deputy Chairman II, Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State as Secretary, and Senator Adolphus Wabara representing the Board of Trustees as Chairman.
Other prominent members include former Vice President Atiku Abubakar; former Senate Presidents Bukola Saraki, David Mark, and Anyim Pius Anyim; serving and former governors such as Bala Mohammed, Ifeanyi Okowa, Samuel Ortom, Nyesom Wike, Udom Emmanuel, and Ibrahim Dankwambo; as well as party stalwarts like Olusegun Mimiko, Liyel Imoke, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, and Uche Secondus.
The PDP described the committee as a blend of experienced leaders and emerging voices tasked with ensuring a credible and transparent convention that reflects the will of party members.
The 2025 national convention in Ibadan is expected to be a decisive moment for the PDP, as the party prepares to elect new national officers and set the tone for its strategies going into the 2027 general elections.
