Memphisx: Pls I subscribed for the 6gb plan with the code *440*016# but got only 2gb and only1500 was taken of d 3k. Could dis b due to my previous subscription of 2gb which expired but i never sent stop autorenew?
I currently have 1.5gb left of the 2gb. If i send stop autorenew and load another 1500 to make up 3k and try d code again' will d 6gb b added to d 1.5gb left?
Ur answers are highly appreciated
you need to send deactivate to 440 to end your current BIS although it wont wipe your data and load another 1500 to make up the 3k and the text bbum3 to 440 to get 6GB that will be added to your current 1.5GB

Glennfizzllé: I personally love BB, I'm currently using Touch 1 and am lovin it, I haven't used an android extensively but I knw they are quite advanced, but still I don't see how android is better than a BB, to me , It doesn't matter how many apps can run on it, considering the fact that I have several apps on my BB which I hardly ever use. I'm yet to see reasons why I shud leave BB and use some android. Hope someone can take time to break it down for me.
your hunch is correct...there are hundreds of thousands of apps on the Google Play and Apple Store for basically everything you could possibly want to do but the truth of the matter is that any one human being wont use more than 20 apps consistently to do everything they want to do

those hundreds of thousands of apps available to the android and iPhone ecosystem are therefore different iterations of the same thing.....there are a lot of advantages in that since you have virtually unlimited app options and you wont ever get stuck if you are unhappy with the quality you are getting from one developer, you will easily find an alternative

if Blackberry serves the purpose for you, by all means stay with BB and you can now improve your BB experience by upgrading to the all new Blackberry 10 platform that has completely bridged the capability gap between the legacy BB platform and the Android/iOS platforms with raw processing power and sleek OS....videos/music/games/social/IM etc are all a breeze

Z10/Q10 and Q5 are the currently available hardware on that platform with Z30 coming soon

moonraker: SOrry whats your definition of more mature OS. Cos last time i checked, IOS and some android phones still have that problem. I dont have a
blackberry, neither do i use one but i can relate to that problem. my guess is, first things first, those devices or Oses in question havent been
configured for the nigerian market and by configured, i mean properly tested on the networks before use.

In developed countries such as the US, UK or Japan, before any smartphone is offer by a Service provider, torture test etc has to be carried out. these operators just dont carry out these tests for carrying out sake, they have to check network compatibility etc.

In Japan, there are three main operators here. AU by KDDI, Softbank and Docomo. Two of those providers presently offer the iphone while docomo doesnt. This is because the 3G or LTE band to which the iphone operates doesnt support the docomo network. How did we come about this information you might ask? The same testing i have been talking about. The same testing that MTN and Co have refused to do. Until the operators put their houses in order, that problem you speak off will remain.

my 2yen
i agree with you that the networks here don't do product testing but you have to also understand that testing cost money and if a business is not compelled to improve customer experience especially if that initiative will cost them money, they won't do it....so it might be easy to point the finger at the networks but the underlying problem is the REGULATORS aka Govt

in developed economies, the govt stipulates minimum standards and competition pushes the customer satisfaction envelope making it mandatory for networks to ensure their customer's user experience is a good as possible otherwise they will face massive litigations, class action lawsuits and govt penalties.

Nigeria on the other hand is a jungle and anything goes
PhonesRe: Blackberry 10 Devices Home: Z10, Q10 Etc by walcolm(op): 7:10am On Sep 09, 2013
hi deevah,

the problem is a two-pronged problem...on the one hand, the BB10 OS is a completely new OS, it has some teething problems and on the other, the Nigerian telephony system is a bit unorganized as opposed to what you have in developed countries

what then happens is this, when you save a number with this format +234-8XX-XXXXXXX, any text message you receive will show the name of the contact but when you receive a call from that contact, the name does not show.....but when you save your contact with the local format 080XXXXXXXX, when you get a call, the name shows but when you receive a text, the name does not show

more matured mobile OS platforms have been able to resolve that problem and i expect t will be resolved soon on the BB10 OS

vozkini: Walcolm, am still waiting for your response on the airtel subscription.
See my post below

walcolm: For airtel, the one I consider most cost effective is their 2+1 unlimited bis plan that gives you 6gb for just 3k and lasts for 3 months

anitank: Yes dear. What's the APN for GLO pls. The one I have there is blackberry.net which I think is the right one like u mentioned earlier
The apn you have is the right one. Glo bis on bb10 devices in Lagos, abuja and ph tends to be problematic. Data fluctuates in ph and you occasionally get that message

The solution is to turn off the network for a few seconds and turn it back on or switch to 2G if you are in Lagos or abuja

Ufranklin92: U need to set up apn to internet.ng.airtel.com if u are using airtel....it happened to me tooo
that's correct...if you are using Airtel...the default apn setting is internet for airtel so you need to manually edit it since a new upgrade essentially wipes your previous settings if you don't do a restore after the upgrade

vozkini: Na waooo too much stories on this bb10 devices and upgrade. I hope they will survive this issues. Cos it's frustrating
which operating system doesnt have stories and issues? answer...NONE

whatever issue the guy is having has nothing to do with the platform...something must have caused a defect in the upgrade process or the downloaded file had a problem or something and all those are human factor which should not be blamed on the platform

vozkini: @walcolm,
For long I have being using blackberry Internet services on Glo networks and have really enjoy their services. But sometime 3 months ago, I stop using their network before I got upgraded to Q10 and now decided to try them again. To my dismay, I have being experiencing frequent data fluctuations. It will come and go at intervals especially when you desire to make use of the data services. I also discovered that they restricted their blackberry service to only 3G and 2G. Whereas when I inserted another network in my Q10 I was able to detect 4G,3G, 2G and LTE. I wonder why Glo could be doing that while granting excess megabytes. I called their customer service and complained about this their frequent data fluctuations. They were never like this before.
Yeah I have been using glo bis for quite a while too and I liked the 3gb data allowance. The reason they are having this challenge now is because they are blocking androids from using their bis and partially blocking BlackBerry 10 to force us to use the expensive dedicated plan.

I currently use my airtel BIS on my GS3 but I might make the switch to airtel on my z10 too if glo continues like this

Which specific applications have you tried to find ?

You must set up a payment system to use with your BlackBerry ID and to do that you just need to swipe down from the top while you're in BlackBerry world, tap settings and you should see "payment options" follow the steps to setup

vozkini: @Walcolm,
What gykes experience before his phone started working with Glo, I experience same when I first subscribed though I didn't subscribe with comonth but I subscribe BB10 Mid month at the cost of 1400. I was allocated 2GIG. But I have exhausted the data. I think I have less than 500MB now with me. My question is, if I exhausted the remaining one, can I be able to subscribe say Glo absolute plan that cost 1500 to get 3GIG cos I want to be receiving 3G networks on my phone. I prefer absolute plan to comonth. Please advice.
YES YOU CAN!
