CelebritiesWhere Is Eedris Abdulkareem? by waleadex(op): 7:50am On May 13, 2013
Eedris Abdulkareem, born Eedris Turayo Abdulkareem Ajenifuja, is a Nigerian hip hop artist.

Born to a polygamous family in Kano, Nigeria, his father was from Ijesha, Osun State, and his mother was from Ogun State. Raised in Kano, he adopted Kano State as his state of origin. His father resides in Lagos, while his mother continues to reside in Kano. According to interviews, his decision to drop his patronymic surname has nothing to do with dislike for his father, but merely reflects his fondness for the name "Eedris Abdulkareem." His name, Abdulkareem, means "Servant of the generous God".

Where has this guy been, afterall Obasanjo is no longer our President? grin

I used to be familiar with most of these Nollywood guys especially the yoruba ones. What they do sometimes gives me a great concern but I guess they have their lives to live just like the rest of us who are not in the limelight. I remember discussing with one of the ladies about the *shi.ts* they do that go on to the web. She said that whatever they post on the web is majorly viewed by their facebook friends, and of course their facebook friends will always applaud them no matter how bad their posts are. When I later told her about Nairaland and how intelligent Nairalanders are,the way members criticise and applaud worthy people, she became cautious and promised never to posts stuffs that can deter her image.
90% of them are so fake that they won't ever be real!!!
Christianity EtcHow Well Do You Know Your Bible Or Quran? by waleadex(op):
It's amazing how most people prefer reading novels, bulletins etc to reading a Bible or Quran. To know God is to be familiar with those scriptural books. Going to church or mosque alone is not enough to know God and what He wants from us but to learn from holy books that describe God,His creatures,His prophets, etc. Many times, when people have problems they fall for the tricks/scam/gimmicks of some fake spiritualists because they believe they get solutions from them as they are seemed to know God more. I am human and that makes me to have tendency of having my own shortcomings or predicaments or problems but the Quran has tremendously helped me in getting less worried. To be honest here,I am not an extremist,I practise Islam as moderate as possible and so I know exactly how to talk to God for solutions when in problems. That I know through my familiarity with Quran, even with Bible. My best friend is a xtian and he does same. I have asked so many people in the past why they think God enjoys happiness in not answering their prayers;different answers were tendered. Some said their past sins could be the cause and others said maybe God didn't just give open ears to their prayers. I told them God hears all prayers people say onto Him but He won't answer all. I later gave them a very good example of God-answering-prayer by describing it with a father-son-request. It goes thus : A boy of 6yrs begging his father to allow him drive his father's Bentley always won't have the request granted until he's ripe of the age to do so. My believe is that everything for everyone is pre-ordained by God and where one is not pleased with what comes his/her way, prayer does it. Fellow Nairalanders,I will like you to share how well you know your Bible or Quran with us.
PoliticsRe: South-East Governors Meet Over 2015 by waleadex(m): 3:35pm On May 12, 2013
I want to believe that leadership @ the presidency is meant to be rotated from zone to zone.If I'm right why are the Igbos being excluded? As a yoruba man, personally I feel bad that the east is been cheated. This is the time for them to come together and get this seat this time. Who knows if the angel that will make Nigeria a better place is from that region! But wait,is it that they have weak political will?Or,is there sabotage somewhere?Or,has it been that they don't have a more intelligent, vast and articulate candidate to represent them?Since Nigeria belongs to us all,we shouldn't embrace segregation but "power rotation" as it were.
Goodluck to the east this time!

HealthHelpful Tips For A Good Night’s Sleep Without Pills. by waleadex(op): 7:38am On May 10, 2013
Few months back I usually was not finding it so easy to sleep at nights. I visited my doctor and went online also to find solution to the problem. The results of my findings really worked for me. Here are the tips :

- Stick to a schedule : Sticking to a schedule allows your body to set its internal rhythm so you can get up at the time you want, consistently, every single day. Also, make sure you try to keep the same schedule on weekends too, otherwise the next morning, you’d wake later and feel overly tired.
Sleep only at night. Avoid daytime sleep if possible. Daytime naps steal hours from nighttime slumber. Limit daytime sleep to 20-minute, power naps.

-Exercise: It’s actually known to help you sleep better. Your body uses the sleep period to recover its muscles and joints that have been exercised. Twenty to thirty minutes of exercise every day can help you sleep, but be sure to exercise in the morning or afternoon. Exercise stimulates the body and aerobic activity before bedtime may make falling asleep more difficult.

-Taking a hot shower or bath before bed helps bring on sleep because they can relax tense muscles.

-Avoid eating just before bed : Give yourself at least 2 hours from when you eat to when you sleep. This allows for digestion to happen (or at least start) well before you go to sleep so your body can rest well during the night, rather than churning away your food.

-Avoid caffeine: It keeps you awake and that’s now what you want for a good nights sleep. We all know that.

-Read a fiction book: It takes you to a whole new world if you really get into it. And then take some time to ponder over the book as you fall asleep. I find as I read more and more, regardless of the book, I get more tired at night and so find it easier to fall asleep. Different for others?
Have the room slightly cooler. I prefer this to a hot room. I prefer to turn off the heat and allow the coolness to circulate in and out of the windows. If I get cold, I wear warmer clothes. It also saves on the bills as you’re not going to require the heat all night long.

-Sleep in silence: I find sleeping with no music or TV on more easy and restful. I guess others are different, but sleep with no distractions is best for a clearer mind.

-Avoid alcohol before bedtime: It’s a depressant; although it may make it easier to fall asleep, it causes you to wake up during the night. As alcohol is digested your body goes into withdrawal from the alcohol, causing nighttime awakenings and often nightmares for some people.

Thanks for reading and have a wonderful weekend!

Nigeria's chief of air staff Air Mashal Alex Badeh has already visited their families. Ayuba was from Gombe State, while Benjamin was from Benue State.

CrimeWoman Illegally Detained For Failing To Service N17,000 Loan!(picture) by waleadex(op): 7:54am On May 03, 2013
Nigeria is a country where the bizarre happens on a daily basis. Just when you think you have heard it all, something takes place that blows your head away.

Yesterday, news broke of this poor housewife, Rose Abbey being locked up in a micro finance bank called B C Cash in Ipaja, Lagos State, over her inability to service the N17,000 loan she borrowed from them. Apparently she was abducted, beaten up and locked in a room at the bank at 170/172, Ipaja Road, Baruwa, Ipaja till the following day without allowing her access to her family.

She was expected to pay N2,000 weekly to the bank but she failed to do so, which led to her alleged detention. Mrs Abbey eventually regained her freedom after her friend paid the N2,000.

The good news is that since her release, the police at Gowon Estate have arrested the manager of the bank, Mrs Princess Adesua and two other staff for illegally detaining the woman. Now, who has ever heard of a bank "arresting" a customer before?

Has this ever happened anywhere else on the planet before?

CrimeFBI Adds First-ever Woman (african-american) To Most Wanted Terrorist List by waleadex(op): 7:21am On May 03, 2013
The FBI has made the fugitive member of a black militant group convicted of murdering a U.S. state trooper, now living in Cuba, the first woman on its list of most wanted terrorists.
The reward for the capture and return of Joanne Chesimard, now living as Assata Shakur, was doubled to $2 million on Thursday, the 40th anniversary of the bloody gun battle.

"She continues to flaunt her freedom in the face of this horrific crime," New Jersey State Police Superintendent Col. Rick Fuentes said at a news conference.
The U.S. Justice Department has offered a $1 million reward for information leading to her capture. The additional money is being put up by the state of New Jersey.

Chesimard, a member of the violent Black Liberation Army, was convicted of the 1973 murder of Werner Foerster during a traffic stop. The BLA was responsible for killing more than a dozen police officers in the 1970s and '80s, said agent Aaron Ford of the FBI's Newark division.
According to Fuentes, Foerster and his partner stopped a car carrying Chesimard and two others for a broken tail light. When the troopers approached the car, a gunfight ensued and both troopers were injured. Chesimard then took Foerster's gun and shot him twice in the head as he lay on the ground.

She was convicted in 1977 but escaped from prison in November 1979 with the help of accomplices. She spent the next few years living in safe houses before surfacing in Cuba in 1984, Fuentes said.
In Cuba, Chesimard has continued to espouse her anti-U.S. views in speeches advocating "revolution and terrorism" and may have connections to other international terrorist organizations, Ford said.
Chesimard is believed to be one of dozens of U.S. fugitives living in Cuba, many of them one-time members of militant groups. Cuba doesn't haven an extradition agreement with the U.S. because of the chilly relations between the two countries over the last five decades, but the climate appears to be slowly changing.
In recent years, Cuba has deported some fugitives back to the U.S., including one man convicted of mail fraud and another sought on child badography charges. This month, the country returned a Florida couple accused in a custody dispute of kidnapping their two children and sailing to Cuba.
Undated file photo provided by the New Jersey State Police
The Cuban government had no immediate comment on Thursday's announcement. This week, the State Department said it has no plans to remove Cuba from a list of state sponsors of terrorism that also includes Iran, Syria and Sudan. Cuba has denied links to terrorism.

isale_gan2: In France:

Christiane Taubira or Christiane Taubira-Delannon (French pronunciation: [kʁis.tjan to.bi.ʁa] ; born 2 February 1952, Cayenne, French Guiana) is a French politician who on 15 May 2012, was appointed Minister of Justice of France in the new Ayrault government under President François Hollande.

https://www.blackpast.org/files/blackpast_images/Christiane_Taubira__Public_Domain_.jpg

She studied at Pantheon-Assas University.[1]

Having served as president of her party Walwari, Taubira from 1993 served as a deputy at the French National Assembly, and was re-elected in 1997. Non-affiliated in 1993, she then voted for the investiture of the conservative Edouard Balladur cabinet of ministers in 1993. In 1994, she became a Member of the European Parliament (MEP),[2][3] being the fourth on the Énergie Radicale list led by Bernard Tapie. In June 1997, she then joined the Socialist Party (PS), and then-Prime Minister Lionel Jospin (PS) commissioned her for a report on gold search in Guiana.

Christiane Taubira was the driving force behind a 21 May 2001 law that recognises the Atlantic slave trade and slavery as a crime against humanity. In 2002, she was a Left Radical Party (PRG) candidate for the presidency, although she did not belong to the party. She gained 2.32% of the votes. After 2002, she became vice-president of the Left Radical Party. She was elected again as deputy on 16 June 2002, and joined the socialist group in the Assembly.

Member of European parliament: 1994-1999. Elected in 1994.

Member of the National Assembly of France for French Guiana (1st constituency): 1993-2012. Elected in 1993, reelected in 1997, 2002, 2007.

Regional councillor of French Guiana: Since 2010.

Her book ("Slavery explained to my daughter" ) has been criticized by editorialist Eric Zemmour for accusing only the white people of colonization.

Nominated Minister of Justice in the Jean-Marc Ayrault government following the victory of François Hollande at the 2012 Presidential election, she was supposed to work with Junior Minister Delphine Batho. However, their relationship quickly deteriorated and they never were able to share responsibilities. After the June 2012 Legislative elections, Delphine Batho was nominated Minister of Ecology to replace Nicole Bricq, leaving Christiane Taubira in charge of the Ministry.

Foreign AffairsMeet Italy's First Female Black Cabinet Minister. by waleadex(op): 10:06am On May 02, 2013
Cecile Kyenge, 48, has become Italy's first black cabinet minister in a sure sign that the rest of Europe is slowly catching up with Britain and France. Her appointment has been hailed as a giant step forward for racial integration in a country that has long been ill at ease with its growing immigrant classes.

However, Kyenge's appointment is not welcome by everyone. One politician from a party that not long ago ruled in a coalition derided what he called Italy's new ‘bonga bonga government.’

On Wednesday, amid increasing revulsion over the reaction, the government authorised an investigation into neo-fascist websites whose members called Kyenge Congolese monkey and other epithets. Kyenge was born in Congo and moved to Italy three decades ago to study medicine. An eye surgeon, she lives in Modena with her Italian husband and two children.

She was active in local center-left politics before winning a seat in the lower Chamber of Deputies in February elections. Premier Enrico Letta tapped Kyenge to be minister of integration in his hybrid center-left and center-right government that won its second vote of confidence on Tuesday.

FamilyRe: How Well Do You Know Your Children? by waleadex(m): 10:30pm On Apr 29, 2013
Honestly,as a man who is very busy I can say categorically that I know my kids well enough for now and I pray they never fail me. My first daughter who is 15yrs(through with O'Level) is my best friend in the family. The twin girls who are 12yrs (in JSS3) are not too friendly as their sister but I still know pretty much about them. Sometime in January, the girls told me they wanted to join facebook but I declined. Politely they asked why and I told them the usual vices involved at such tender ages. As for my only son who is 2.5yrs,he attends his mum's school (our school grin ) and I am still learning much about him though he's so inquisitive. However, knowing your kids well depends on some factors :
-How busy parents are
-Nature of kid(s)
-Societal influence (environment)
-Resources availability
-Father-Mother relationship and
-Readiness of parents to knowing their kids etc.
As madam always says, may God help us all.(Amen)
