Twin sisters believed to be Amsterdam’s oldest prostitutes have retired after more than 50 years each in the sex trade. Louise and Martine Fokkens, 70, have finally decided they are too old for the business after claiming to have slept with 355,000 men between them in a combined 100-year career. Louise, a mother of four, has said her arthritis now makes some sexual positions ‘too painful’. And mother-of-three Martine admits she is finding it hard to attract new punters – except one elderly man who still comes for his weekly sado-maschism session. She said: ‘I couldn’t give him up. He’s been coming to me for so long it’s like going to church on a Sunday.’ The pair were the subject of a documentary film last year called Meet the Fokkens, and have now written a book about their combined 100-years of sexual exploits called The Ladies of Amsterdam. Both women – who usually dress in identical red clothes – became prostitutes before the age of 20 to survive financially after escaping violent relationships. They now look back on the ‘golden years’ of the profession before the Netherlands legalised prostitution and the sex trade was invaded by ‘eastern European mafia’. Louise said: ‘It is very different now. We used to sit in the windows with clothes on. Today they are totally unclad. ‘There are few Dutch women and no sense of community these days.’ Martine added: ‘The legalisation of brothels in 2000 has not improved prostitutes’ lives. ‘There is no point working just for tax. That is why the girls are working from the internet and from home – you are less likely to be spotted by the taxman. ‘It is better for the pimps and the foreigners, but not for the Dutch girls.’ Martine and Louise said they now hoped to be able to live off their earnings from the book and film rights. Pukkah: Unfortunately, Mr Nta is right. The laws are there but the will is lacking.Seconded! |
gregtochi: Mr Nta, you were appointed ICPC boss to fight corruption. What have you done to that effect? You have all the laws on ground, the financial mobilisation in form of allocation to your agency, what are you doing to justify the tax payers money you are collecting as salary and other benefits? Or do yuo want me to come and do your job for you?Brother,it's not that easy for him o especially when the likes of attorney-general and presidency are nt showing complete readiness and support to stop financial crimes. |
The ICPC boss says that while Nigeria has laws to fight corruption, the will for execution of such laws is lacking. The Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, Ekpo Nta, said on Tuesday that Nigeria is not short of relevant laws to combat corruption. Mr. Nta said the major challenge is the will to execute the laws. The ICPC chairman, who delivered a lecture at the flag-off ceremony for the 50th anniversary of the Department of Political Science, University of Ibadan, identified the scourge as the fastest growing evil in the country. “There had been corrupt practices decree, War Against Indiscipline, MAMSA, NOA, Foreign Exchange Decree, Money Laundry Decree, EFCC and ICPC Acts, Fiscal responsibility 2010, etc. We have more than enough laws that will stamp corruption out of our system but the problem is implementation. Implementing our laws is the problem,” he said. The ICPC boss defined corruption as abuse of trust and political power for private gains, insisting that except all Nigerians join hands together in the fight against corruption; it will continue to thrive in the country. Delivering the lecture, entitled “Combating corruption in Nigeria: Prospect, Challenges and Strategies”, he decried the art of plagiarism among lecturers, as well as falsification of records, sexual harassment, cultism, extortion, and false representation during accreditation in Nigerian universities. Mr. Nta also disclosed that the commission depends majorly on information from petitions forwarded to it by members of the public for prosecution of suspects, adding that they have engaged in massive enlightenment campaign to sensitize the public on the evil of corruption to the society. Earlier, Head of Department of Political Science, Osisioma Nwolise, had declared that corruption is wasting Nigeria’s resources and sentencing a large number of the citizenry to the harsh side of life. He said corruption has reached the level that requires surgical operation. “It has adopted a dimension at which it should be declared as crime against humanity and treated as such. “Some loot our money and still spit on our faces and attend ceremonies in pride and pomposity. People who should bury their faces in shame talk so loudly and with so much impunity that they deafen the ears of our collective conscience”, Mr. Nwolise said. http://premiumtimesng.com/news/119996-nigeria-lacks-will-to-fight-corruption-says-icpc-boss.html

South Africa's consul-general in China has been recalled after he was allegedly found wandering the streets unclad. Lassy Chiwayo, a veteran politician who spent time in prison with Nelson Mandela, has had his contract in Shanghai terminated and is back in Pretoria. The South African foreign office says he was recalled due to 'health reasons', but several newspapers have reported that Mr Chiwayo was found wandering unclad near his home three months ago. According to Sunday World, his unclad walks were a regular occurrence. Quote A source said: 'He would disappear for days without trace and he would be found walking around unclad.'Mr Chiwayo was also reported to have assaulted South Africa's Bheki Langa at an official function in Beijing. The 44-year-old has denied he was recalled saying it is 'general practice' for envoys to be reassigned. He dismissed the unclad wandering stories and insisted his relationship with Dr Langa was 'healthy and cordial'. 'All that you are saying is news to me,' he told the Sunday World. 'I don't have any health challenges that need intervention from the department.' It is the latest in a series of misfortunes to hit Mr Chiwayo, an engaged father-of-three. Last month, a fire gutted his home in Nelspruit in a suspected arson attack which destroyed a Porsche, a quad bike and £22,000-worth of Persian rugs.

The man described as a spokesman for Osama Bin Laden has pleaded not guilty in New York to charges he helped plot the 9/11 attacks on the US. Sulaiman Abu Ghaith, 47, was turned over to US officials in Jordan within the last week after being deported from Turkey. Mr Abu Ghaith who is a Kuwait preacher is Bin Laden's son-in-law. The decision to try him in civilian court has received stern criticism by Republicans. They argue Mr Abu Ghaith should be sent to the US detention centre at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to face a military tribunal. World Football governing body FIFA has written to the Nigerian Football Association over recent reports that lesbians are now banned from playing football there. According to a statement by Dilichukwu Onyedinma, chair of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL). "Any player associated with it will be disqualified." Please be honest to give an answer! A girl of 24 mistakenly sent an sms to her father saying: Sweetheart,I don't want to abort this pregnancy because it may damage my womb and don't forget this will be the 17th pregnancy I will abort for you. Don't worry I'm preparing my parent's food,I will poison them so we can acquire their properties and live fine. Love you dear! Question: what will you do if you were her father ? |
