I tell people always that these celebs are not as rich as people assume. I could remember few months back when a picture of his house had three vehicles in it,said to be his. The question is,did the four rides have accident at the same time? No! If they are very true to themselves, this boy could just get a hold of any of the other rides instead of taking cabs around. I think the generality of media hypes is really affecting them all and to be sincere it'll be so hard for them to come out and downgrade themselves contrary to public believe as a result of hypes they get. In fact, their mata taya me! |
The fact that a certain celeb is rich/wealthy doesn't make such celeb a giver. Don't forget also that some people, not just celebs alone, are silent givers. Some of the most renowned celebs would have donated without wanting their names mentioned. Besides,Ruggedman should not expect anyone to forcefully donate to OJB. They all have their reasons why they should and shouldn't. Against all odds,OJB shall survive! |
Recently, everything about this one is always in opposite to the true existence of humanity...May God help her! |

Tonto Dikeh is never a mile away from controversy. And this time around, she has not released a new single and uploaded a semi-unclad picture, nay! The Nollywood actress, sensationally claimed via Twitter, that her first s*xual experience, was with foremost music producer, Don Jazzy. “I got disvirgined by @DONJAZZY i think this a lil bit Too Much info,” she wrote. Don Jazzy, who was online at the time, chose to respond with humour. He wrote: “lol me dat im still a V,” (‘V’ meaning virgin). A lot of fans were amused and shocked at the same time and reacted differently. Some did not believe it, stating clearly that Tonto was still on her attention-seeking mission. But it might just be true, as Don Jazzy, once dated the actress and admitted it sometime back.

Workers build a wall in a garden at former president Nelson Mandela's home in Qunu. The gravesite at Nelson Mandela’s homestead in Qunu in the Eastern Cape, where the icon who is in a critical condition in hospital is expected to be buried, is being prepared to accommodate “thousands and thousands of people”. That’s according to the construction supervisor at the site, Eric Bosman, representing Durbanville construction firm Haw & Inglis, who yesterday gave The Sunday Independent’s sister paper Weekend Argus some insight into the work being done there. Speaking at the site, he confirmed it was being prepared for Madiba’s burial. Twenty construction vehicles, including 10 trucks and various bulldozers, were working there non-stop yesterday. Bosman said they were creating the first temporary road to the site, built off the N2 highway and leading to the gravesite, which was expected to be completed by the end of the day. “We started it (temporary road) two weeks ago and we’re finishing it today. It’s in preparation for the burial. This will allow mourners to drive to the site with ease. There will be space for everybody,” said Bosman. The gravesite is situated on a high hill, the closest one to Madiba’s large peach-coloured homestead, which is adjacent to the N2 highway in Qunu. Bosman said the site could accommodate an enormous number of people, since there were vast open fields around Mandela’s homestead. He said a section of the temporary road would be used by buses, while another section would be utilised by taxis and bakkies. “He will be buried here,” he said, pointing to crop of aloes just below the top of the hill. “The minibuses will come out there. And that one is for the buses,” he gesticulated as he pointed to the areas to be designated as drop-off zones for what is expected to be one of the biggest funerals to be seen in South Africa. Bosman also pointed to a section far below the gravesite, and closer to Mandela’s homestead, where he said a “big tent” would be erected. Two weeks ago Weekend Argus reported there was division over where Madiba should be buried – some felt he should not be buried at his homestead, but rather at the Mandela family burial site, situated on the opposite side of the N2 highway from Mandela’s homestead. However, Bosman was adamant yesterday Mandela would be buried at his homestead. Meanwhile, the area is wall-to-wall with journalists, photographers and camera people, who have flocked to the area as Mandela lies critical in hospital. A few weeks ago only two or three media organisations were in Qunu, but that number has jumped to about 20 in the past week. Most were firmly entrenched outside the Mandela homestead on Thursday and Friday, although there was very little action to see. Everyone rushed to Mthatha, about 35km away, on Friday when news of the family feud over the burials of three of Mandela’s children broke. The court action has pitted 16 members of the Mandela family against Mandela’s grandson Mandla Mandela, who is alleged to have moved the remains to Mvezo, where he is chief. Neither Mandla nor other members of the family were at the Mthatha High Court however, so for the news teams, it was literally back to the drawing board.

If you are reading this and you have not registered your phone line(s), it may just be almost late. In fact, you need not wonder why you may neither receive nor complete any calls from today. This is because the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, says the collation, harmonisation and authentication of the subscriber’s identification modules, SIMs card registration it embarked upon in conjunction with all the telecom operators in Nigeria, since 2011, ends today, and those whose numbers were not captured will be disconnected. For the past two years, the industry regulator (NCC) has embarked on a massive campaign, sensitizing telephone subscribers on the need to register their phones to enable a proper record of subscribers in the country, effective monitoring of telecommunications activities and cut down on phone-related crimes. The regulator also made it clear that after a six-month period which expires on September 2011, those who did not register their lines stood the risk of losing them by deactivation. However, following the panic, tension and anxiety as the exercise came to an end, the Commission allowed a grace period by asking people who had not registered to go to their operators to do so while it was collating, harmonising and authenticating the data already gathered. The harmonisation and authentication exercise have taken over one year and the NCC, a few months back, declared that on June 30, 2013, all unregistered lines would be deactivated. Tension in the industry is at its height. This also reflects the growing nature of Nigerian telecom industry and the intrigues which heralded the exercise, March 2011 when it was flagged off. As at Thursday, about 27 million SIMs out of the 164 million connected lines and 119 million active were said to be still unregistered. MTN Nigeria, according to figures from the NCC has 52 million subscribers; Globacom, 24.3 million; Airtel, 24.1 million; and Etisalat, 15.1 million. How it all beganIn the wake of unending security challenges facing the country, it became expedient that measures needed to be taken. In 2009, the then Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, Engr Ernest Ndukwe, opted for SIM registration as one of the measures. SIM registration is a standard practice in almost all economies of the world for its ability to check phone crimes and, in Nigeria, such crimes, including death threats via text messages and kidnappings, were becoming common. A meeting between the regulator, operators and other stakeholders were held where government mandated the operators to start registering subscribers. However, it was learnt that the operators expressed inability to do a good job in less than three years, prompting the agreement that they should register new entrants while the regulator finds way of registering existing subscribers. The operators later went on registration of both the new and old subscribers. The action infuriated the regulator. Then the regulator under the current EVC, Dr Eugene Juwah, presented a budget of N6.1 billion for the exercise. The budget caused some stir at the National Assembly and the telecom sector and created different camps that engaged in claims of whether the bill was justified or not. Eventually, on February 14, 2011, the exercise began. Campaign Subscribers initially were reluctant to adapt to the new directive and it became clear that something needed to lure them into the exercise. The operators introduced different packages. Globacom for instance offered reward packages including a guaranteed 30 minutes free airtime (10) minutes per month for 3 months, all expense-paid trip to Manchester or Dubai to 60 registered customers (20 per month for 3 months) and N20,000 airtime to 300 lucky winners(100 per month for 3 months). Meanwhile the company has made over 17 millionaires in the N1m category of the promo. Etisalat Nigeria introduced 9ja Free Credit Promo, designed to reward new and existing subscribers who register or have registered their SIM cards. The promo gives a 30 per cent bonus credit to call any network. With consistent text messages ardio jingles and TV commercials, Airtel lured subscribers to register their SIM cards and win a gift. Other operators like Visafone opted for the direct marketing strategy including road shows. MTN Nigeria embarked on the billionaire promo tagged the BIG Reward programme. Improved turn-out Confirming improved turnout of customers at the SIM registration centres since the launch of the Big Reward, MTN General Manager, Consumer Marketing, Kola Oyeyemi, said,. “That is the overriding objective of the BIG Reward programme; getting subscribers to register so that we can have a credible database of telephone users for our country. When we have such a database, government can better plan the economy and the people will be the better for it.” Subscribers ask for extension Meanwhile, the National Association of Telecommunications Subscribers of Nigeria (NATCOMS) has reportedly appealed to the NCC to extend the deadline by another three months to give every subscriber a fair consideration. The body said several factors have all conspired to prevent many subscribers from complying adequately to the deadline. In a letter to NCC, entitled, “Appeal to NCC for 3-Month One-Way Final Warning on SIM Registration”, NATCOMS alleged that several agents carrying out the SIM registration process employed some sharp practices that discouraged subscribers from registering. According to part of the letter,: “In the last two to three weeks, reports, issues and concerns reaching us are as follows: 1. During the SIM registration exercise, some umbrella SIM registration agents were not collecting the full details needed because of the rush by the agents to register as many subscribers so as get paid big. 2. Some umbrella SIM registration agents, during the active registration period and even now are asking subscribers to pay N100; a situation that discouraged subscribers. 3. Some umbrella SIM registration agents, even when they are agents of a particular network operator, collect other operators SIM cards for registration in order to shore up the number of SIM cards they register daily.” 4. Some umbrella SIM registration agents copy their daily registered subscribers and give to their colleagues in business as some form of ‘help’ In view of the submissions above, a lot of subscribers will be locked out due to no fault of theirs as they think they have registered their SIM cards. Against the backdrop of the above and in order to ensure that every subscriber is given fair consideration, we are appealing to the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to give subscribers a 3-Month One-Way final warning extension on SIM cards registration. (i.e. subscribers to be able to receive calls). But Director, Public Affairs, NCC, Mr Tony Ojobo, at the weekend, stated that “there will be no extension after this deadline”. He added: “SIM registration has been on for two years now and, on June 30, all unregistered SIMs will be disconnected”.

All the op narrated here were exactly what I had in mind some 4yrs ago @ approximately age 30. |
In a recent interview, former member of the Chocolate City crew opened up about his reasons for leaving the label and what his plans are. Excerpts: On why he left the label - My debut album was not released properly. Songs were leaked even after they promised that they were safe. And then there was my single, which was poorly released. I think I deserve an explanation why the release was messed up. That already is a breach. You took my song, edited it and released it behind my back; very unfair. It's something I don't want to talk about but there's news everywhere that I am smoking weed and people are saying I don't get shows because of that. On weed-smoking- Yes, but for God's sake, I have not done anything to mess up the contract. What else do you think anybody would say just to make me look bad? It's like giving a dog a bad name so you can hang it. They needed to come up with something. Like I said before, a lot of artistes are doing songs about weed and I have not even done a song on weed before. On how Choc Boys affected his project- We were supposed to record a Choc Boy album in 2012, which I could not agree to because I had my own album in the works. But it's even worse than that because nobody ever called me up. Whenever they had Choc Boy meetings I was never there. I heard stuff from my other mates on the record label and I am like 'when did you have that meeting?' So, it's easy now for them to come out and say I am still a Choc Boy. However, I was never treated like one! On his new plans- Chocolate City says I can't go anywhere but they will have to sue me to enforce that and we will meet in court. On who his new management will be- This is music business. By the time you shop for a few weeks, you'll find a manager and a publicist. The songs always come first so if I don't have an album in the works, what do I need a manager and publicist for. On his current relationship with Chocolate City crew- We have a very cordial relationship, funny enough. We talk on phone and we even exchange visits. When I got my new car four months ago, I drove to Miss place and said 'come take a look at my car.' When we meet at events we still talk. On his personal relationship- Yes, I am in a relationship. But no plans for marriage right now. I met the lady in my life at a birthday party. What struck me about her was that she was tall and beautiful. The attraction was her height. Who no go like fine girl? I like the way she carries herself and the way she treats me. On marriage plans- (Laughs) I am 27-years-old so I am still thinking of roaming around a little more before settling down.

1. Not emptying your bladder early: Maintaining a full bladder for a long time is a quick way of causing bladder damage. That the urine stays in the bladder for a long time can cause the bacteria breeding in urine to multiply quickly. Once the urine refluxes back to ureter and kidneys, the bacteria can result in kidney infections, then urinary tract infection, and then nephritis, even Uremia.http://www.stayinghealthyplus.com/2013/01/10-common-habits-that-damage-kidneys.html This message might be of immense benefits to you, and to someone close to you. Once upon a time, everything we ate was organic and it managed to produce healthy Nigerians whose dietary intake was not corrupted by all today's modern additives. Having said that, were diets back in those days as balanced as they are today? We eat all kinds of junk today and to top it up, drugs of all sorts have crept into our intake. Yesterday was the 2013 International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking and to prove how healthy he still is, 67-year-old Abdullahi Kurma lifted six bags of cement. Top marks to Abdullahi from Gombe, whose message to Nigeria's youth was that you can get by without drugs and if you do, you can grow to be as strong as me, even in your old age. The question is, how many Nigerians are this healthy today? http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=390179237758438&set=a.220003301442700.43914.184759784967052&type=1&relevant_count=1

President Goodluck Jonathan has assured Nigerians and the international community of the protection of human rights and safety of innocent citizens as his administration deploys the military against terrorists in the country. Jonathan in a letter to President of United States (U.S.), Barack Obama, said: “Nigeria is unwaveringly committed to successfully prosecuting the fight against the scourge of terrorism in all its ramifications in our country.” According to him, in combating terrorism, the country’s law enforcement agents have been strictly instructed to adhere to “clearly defined” rules of engagement. “They are not to engage in acts that may have the effect of compromising the human rights and safety of innocent citizens in the areas of operation,” he said. He expressed appreciation to the U.S. government for its “evident” solidarity and support in Nigeria’s “committed” fight against terrorism as depicted by the heinous atrocities being committed by the fundamentalist Islamic terrorist group, Ahlul Sunna li daawa wal Jihad (Boko Haram) in the north eastern part of the country. Jonathan re-affirmed that Nigeria is in sync with the U.S. in “the belief that an act of terrorism against any nation or group is an attack against our common humanity and imust be resolutely resisted by all legitimate means. I fully acknowledge your committed steadfast support for us and other nations which have come under terrorist attack over the years. I look forward to even closer co-operation between our two nations in the fight against this global menace,” Jonathan stated.

Hey fellow nairalanders,I found out these tips on the net while trying to help a sister-in-law who's seriously in need and I decided to share with those in need of the tips here on NL as well. 1. Make Love Often: Your odds of getting pregnant are best when you make love 1 to 2 days before you ovulate. But cycles vary in length, and some women are irregular or have miscalculated their cycle. Sperm can survive in a woman's body for up to 5 days. To hedge your bet, make love frequently starting 3 days before ovulation and continuing for 2 to 3 days after you think you've ovulated. 2. Lie Low After Sex: Give sperm a chance to swim upstream before going to the bathroom. Stay in bed for at least a few minutes after intercourse. 3. Create a Sperm-Friendly Environment: Avoid honeypot sprays, scented tampons, artificial lubricants, and douching. They can alter the normal acidity of the honeypot. 4. Know When You Ovulate: Chart your basal body temperature and your cervical mucus. You might also use an over-the-counter ovulation predictor kit (OPK) to check for hormonal changes in your urine before ovulation. 5. Stress Management: Try yoga, meditation, or long walks to reduce stress. Research indicates that stress can interfere with getting pregnant. No need to quit your job or change your life. Simple acts such as exercising, writing in a journal, or holding hands with your spouse can lower stress. 6. Maintain A Healthy Weight: Studies show that weighing too little — or weighing too much — can disrupt ovulation and may also affect production of key reproductive hormones. A healthy BMI is between 18.5 and 24.9. 7. Trying for a Boy or a Girl? There's no sure, natural way to choose the sex of your baby. But male sperm swim and expire faster than female sperm. To aim for a boy, have intercourse about 12 hours before you ovulate — or as close to ovulation as possible — so the male sperm will be there when the egg drops. To aim for a girl, have intercourse several days before ovulation, so more female sperm will be around when the egg drops. Still, experts say your odds are 50-50 unless you use a sperm-sorting technique, followed by artificial insemination......More http://www.tundeola.com/2013/06/top-7-tips-to-boost-your-chances-of.html

1. Think of your body as the vehicle to your dreams, honor it,respect it,fuel it. 2. Create a list of all the things your body lets you do. Read it and add to it often. 3. Become aware of what your body can do each day. Remember it is the instrument of your life, not just an ornament. 4. Create a list of people you admire: people who have contributed to your life, your community, or the world. Consider whether their appearance was important to their success and accomplishments. 5. Walk with your head held high, supported by pride and confidence in yourself as a person. 6. Don’t let your weight or shape keep you from activities that you enjoy. 7. Wear comfortable clothes that you like, that express your personal style, and that feel good to your body. 8. Count your blessings, not your blemishes. 9. Think about all the things you could accomplish with the time and energy you currently spend worrying about your body and appearance. Try one! 10. Be your body’s friend and supporter, not its enemy. Consider this: your skin replaces itself once a month, your stomach lining every five days, your liver every six weeks, and your skeleton every three months. Your body is extraordinary–begin to respect and appreciate it. 11. Every morning when you wake up, thank your body for resting and rejuvenating itself so you can enjoy the day. 12. Every evening when you go to bed, tell your body how much you appreciate what it has allowed you to do throughout the day. 13. Find a method of exercise that you enjoy and do it regularly. Don’t exercise to lose weight or to fight your body. Do it to make your body healthy and strong and because it makes you feel good. Exercise for the Three F’s: Fun, Fitness, and Friendship. 14. Think back to a time in your life when you felt good about your body. Tell yourself you can feel like that again, even in this body at this age. 15. Keep a list of 10 positive things about yourself–without mentioning your appearance. Add to it! 16. Put a sign on each of your mirrors saying, “I’m beautiful inside and out.” 17. Choose to find the beauty in the world and in yourself. 18. Start saying to yourself, “Life is too short to waste my time hating my body this way.” 19. Eat when you are hungry. Rest when you are tired. 20. Surround yourself with people that remind you of your inner strength and beauty |

Money is so important in a man's life that man put his blood, sweat and tears into making it. To be honest, even during courtship of a man and woman money plays a great role. But the question is,of what good is it for someone to lie about being wealthy when he/she is not, just to woe the opposite sex? This is common amongst guys of nowadays. As for the ladies the common lies they say is either their parents or uncles are wealthy when they are not, just to get a man attracted to themselves. Besides money issue, some guys/ladies are perfect at cheating on their partners. Some guys will go to the extend of going intimate with their partner's friend, sister etc. The ladies do these also. Perhaps, these are done for the fun of it. But the question is(in assumption),after discovering your partner lied about being rich or cheated heavily on you, which would hurt you more? |
It took me a long time to write a comment on this topic because first,I tried to get my facts right. That bridge's not constructed with tax-payers money,it's based on concession. It's a contract between LASG and LCC. People can actually read more about it. Besides, let's not forget that even in the US there are High Class,Middle Class and even Low Class people. The people using that bridge are even making a freer flow of traffic on the alternative route for those who don't want to pay toll. We have to be realistic especially when it comes to infrastructural development. So far I have gathered that most comments here are based on partisanism, tribalism, grief and what have you. We don't need all that. We all can't be right all the time, instead we can learn from other people's posts and weigh them. Just like someone narrated earlier developments are on-going in some States too,not only in Lagos. Let's not deceive ourselves,we know good governance when we see it and we know the other also but it will be depressing to discourage a good-doer. With time,I am sure the toll charges will be seen to as debates are still going on about it in Lagos State House Of Assembly. God Bless Nigeria! |

The recently-pardoned former Bayelsa State governor Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, is to forfeit his Rockville, Maryland, home to the US government following the approval of a federal judge of the Justice Department’s forfeiture order. Valued at $700,000 an order to seize the house was executed on Friday after US district judge Roger Titus granted the Justice Department’s motion for default judgement against the property. According to prosecutors, Alamieyeseigha’s assets were the proceeds of corruption. This forfeiture is part of a fledgling Justice Department initiative dedicated to seeking out assets in the US linked to high-level foreign corruption. Last year, a federal district judge in Massachusetts granted a motion for default judgment and civil forfeiture on a $401,931 Massachusetts brokerage fund that was said to belong to Alamieyeseigha. Will his assets in Nigeria be so seized? |
