@ Odowetalu: You can take pre-reqs for Pet. Eng at a CC. For a bachelors degree in the State of Texas, all Freshman and Sophmores take the same classes at any College till your Junor year when you start specific degree related courses. I took the same classes at HCC as someone going for Chem. Eng, for instance. Keep your CC admission and apply to UH. When you get here, transfer your 1-20 back to the CC.

Yeah, you may be correct to a point, it's okay to discuss some other things outside visa at times, but it becomes disturbing when it's now an everyday issue to always talk about "other stuff" not related to visa, I know we want to keep the thread lively and on but i personally feel we have chased away so many prospective visa applicants due to the way we answer them when they ask questions and we decide to neglect them and discuss our own "issues"...I have also said some jokes or said stuff not related to visas but I don't do it everyday, some people are scared now that if they ask a question, they will be insulted or talked to out of anger and disgust so they have just decided to keep mute and read whatever they can grab from the thread...we can joke or derail a bit but not all the time...

We all came to the USA to live the America dream and to stay in the USA legally, what happens if after your education you can't land a job with a degree that is not "sellable". I personally don't see anything wrong if you study the environment you find yourself in to determine what is in vogue or selling that can put food on your table or a roof on your head - A wise man would do that.

Well you may be correct to a point, but one thing i've come to realize is that, the US government aren't silly and know what they want, foreign students are the ones holding up the economy of this country to the level it is presently, not just any foreign student but foreign students in STEM majors particularly...you can hardly find "Americans" studying engineering courses, and of course after graduation, the companies here would require the services of such people to be able to run effectively and meet their goals, moreover foreign students are rugged and reliable considering the places most of them came from...and yeah healthcare is equally good but like someone said, what are the prospects of getting a job after you study healthcare or an oil and gas related course, it's not automatic, you still have to fight for your space in the job arena, and i think it applies to most courses....let's refrain from confusing people, and that you don't get a job in the USA doesn't mean you wouldn't get in any other country, you have an international degree which makes you a perfect match for many countries worldwide, I have a friend who schooled in the UK for his masters in Mech Engineering and now works in UAE for Schlumberger...follow your route is my own ooo..."cos changing because someone said so might just be the mistake you were ever gonna make in your life.

Na waa ooo...me i don dey tire for this thread...why must everything be about tension, if you can help someone's inquiry then do that without saying anything offensive, if you cannot then just keep mute!....this applies to those in Nigeria seeking their visas as well as those here in the US who have their visas....if someone is confused about making a decision, if you can give the person an advice without insults, that's good, but if you know you must add insults, then just skip the question and let someone else answer it, some of us were in their shoes while we were seeking visas, only if you could go back to see the kinda questions you were asking those that were here when you weren't and was still an applicant, you wouldn't answer the way you are presently....and for those still back home,don't also come and ask questions or say statements that may brew tension...this thread is for "visa inquiries" not "school application inquiries"...so it is expected that you only ask visa or standardized tests related questions and not what school or course to pick, and now i think that's what's finally taking over this thread which defeats the original purpose of this thread...

I booked my appointment since 24 November 2012 & I chose the only available date which was 26/12/2012 & was confirmed by an email sent to my inbox.
On another ocassion, I received another email stating that my appointment date is 27/12/2012.
Again on December 12 at 4;58 PM, I received a third email stating that my appointment has been rescheduled to January O4, 2013 upon embassy request and that I should log in back into my account to check the details for the new appointment confirmation sent to me.
Then I reported to fellow nairalanders & I was urged to contact them which I did through email & phone call though I could not get through phone . Hence I still considered 04 Jan. to be Ok for me. They did not reply my email until last week Tuesaday (exactly 4 businessday because of break).
Last Friday I received a call from embassy affirming that my appointment is this friday 04/12/2013.

Now, I logged in to my email & I saw another email from embassy stating that my appointment has been rescheduled to next weekend & that they are sorry for any inconveniencies they may have caused me.
House, Since November 24 this is what I have been living for & This is another story.
Please I invite all the GURUS in the House to help me out of this matter.
Honestly, I am DUMBFOUNDED, Speechless indeed a day to my year of Divine Favour
I do not really know what is happening.
The resumption date on my I-20 is no later than January 14, 2013. In short, I would not have finished the processing before the last day of resumption.

Take my comment as read. I was trying to figure out why the VO laughed. Okay? Starting all over as a freshman is what I find improper and presumed that the VO could have as well because its costs you more money and more years. Do you ride a bicycle from Lag to Abj when you can ride a bus or fly to your destination faster? That's my reasoning behind the comment that someone else could not grasp. Unless you have no certifications/diploma/degree you can try again this semester giving solid examples that explain how productively you've been working towards the Automotive degree.

When you say automobile, most people would immediately think Michigan because of its auto industry. If you don't try again this semester, apply to stellar Colleges like Michigan State (MSU) for the same degree or Mech. Eng elsewhere. PS: The automotive degree is popular with schools like Everest and co ... technical schools. When you come in for a bachelors in the US, your major is unofficial and you're not allowed to declare officially till the 1st semester your junior year. Meaning: You can switch your degree plan as soon as you step foot in the college. My older sis went from a Diploma in Accounting at UniAbuja -> One semester at Texas A&M Accounting -> changed her mind to UT Austin for BS Nursing then MS Nursing. It was fast. If its easier to get a visa with Mech. Eng, go for it. All the best.
