deevick246: I was refused today by the V0 at counter 6 (Lagos). This is how it went down:
I was not praying for the VO because he was spending a lot of time with applicants and he rejected a lot of applicants.
VO: the sighed me as I was walking across to him. Good morning, pass me your documents pls.
ME: good morning sir, here they are
VO: ok can you bring up your case...
ME: I was like na which one be bring up your case again. I asked him to repeat himself and he said it again. So I got it that he want me to tell him what I am here for. Na so I start by saying, I am going to study Masters in Public Administration at ..... University, then defined Public Administration as a disciplined which broadly deals with good governance, human relations and the society at large and also focuses on the implementation of government policies, programmes and activities for the betterment of the citizens. I choose to study masters in PA because I have a keen interest in good governance in Nigeria.
V0: ok, why this school?
ME: because the university offers excellence career preparation in public administration which a real world learning experience.
VO: Have u travel out of Nigeria before?
ME: no, there has not been a need to.
VO: ok, are u married?
ME: No.
VO: where do u work?
ME: I told him.
VO: who is paying for your fees.
ME: my dad.
VO: what does not dad do?
ME: he is a building contractor and a estate developer.
VO: did you write the GRE?
ME: No, the university does not require it for admission into this programme.
VO: I'm sorry I can not issue you the visa at this time....bla bla

Lesson: I know surely that I was refused on the grounds of GRE. Its painful tho, because the V0 was just looking at me and typing seriously and me maintained eye contacts all through.
Advice: please everyone going as a graduate student should endeavour to write either the GRE or GMAT, even if your school does not require it for admission purpose, like mine did not and plus that I had a $2000 partial scholarship, so I was thinking the GRE won't be an issue since its not part of the admission requirements.

At this point, I want to congratulate everyone who got their visas and those yet to go for their interview, I beg make una no dey entertain unnecessary fear, that interview is not as difficult as it has been projected. Its basically a conversation between 2 people ( you and the VO). Be yourself.
I sincerely appreciate king1_00, Freeman_lxy, leadzeal, djunit, walex57, samuel4U and everyone on this thread.
Its not over yet, until I get my visa lol
GOD! Guy i'm yet to believe it...didn't u get a waiver letter or email from ur school...my guy pls don't give up, u will get it and fall 2012 isn't complete without deevick on board....

Here is my story and I need to know what ‎Ɣøû think and advice
I had my interview this М̣̣̥̇̊Ό̲̣̣̣̥Я̩̥̊И̣̣̣̥Ȋ̝̊̅̄И̣̣̣̥G̲̣̣̣̥ at the lagos embassy was interviewed by window 1 a white guy. Interview lasted like 6-7mins asked questions which I answered then he collected my passport, tore the pickup slip and gave M̶̲̥̅ε̲̣̣̣̥ a white form. Told M̶̲̥̅ε̲̣̣̣̥ to pick up my visa on friday and was advicing M̶̲̥̅ε̲̣̣̣̥ to travel early. When I was J̲̣̣̣U̶̲̥̅̊§τ̲̅ abt to leave I think something came up on his screen and he said he might need to collect the form, return my passport held on to my DS-160 and gave M̶̲̥̅ε̲̣̣̣̥ the GREEN PICKUP ticket. Told M̶̲̥̅ε̲̣̣̣̥ dia is a check they still need to run that its most probably nothing bt they have to D̶̲̥̅̊o it.that I should mail my school and inform them I might report late.he said D̶̲̥̅̊ε̲̣̣̣̥γ̲̣̣̥ will contact M̶̲̥̅ε̲̣̣̣̥ via email or phone that they have to carry out additional administrative check/processing
My questions are:
Has anyone held of this before?
What D̶̲̥̅̊o u think might be the Ish?
How long will I have to wait for this process?
What are my chances?
Please advice[/quote]My personal person...lemme be the first to congratulate you....don't worry you don get the visa...so far the green ticket is with you and you got a form 221g...it make take a lil while but you'll get it...congrats bro...i don tell you before nah...

lanrypaddy: Thanks a lot bro Fø̲̣̣я̅ Ʊя̲̅ pieces of advice and information. I have already mailed the school Fø̲̣̣я̅ that GRE request and the Graduate addmission officer has sent M̶̲̥̅ƺ a mail which states that †̥ whom it may concern, GRE Ȋ̝̊̅§ not required by the school, hence, •̸№ need Fø̲̣̣я̅ GRE waiver and that TOEFL Ȋ̝̊̅§ also not needed Fø̲̣̣я̅ student from Nigeria. Zone 2 Zone: This is how the interview went.

I got to the embassy around 6.00am and my interview is schedule for 8.00am
when it is 8.00am appointment time, we were called in for the interview.
At the entrance, I was sent back to go and make a payment of balance of 3,300 naira of my Visa application fee. This really affect my moral cos the cash I have on me wasn`t up to the amount requested for. To make things worst the nearest ATM machine at Area 3 for those who know ABJ very well. At last, I have the cash and paid to them at the Embassy.

The white guy in window 8 interview me.

VO Good morning?
ME still walking toward the window, still not compose

ME Howdy?
VO Am fine & U?

ME Good.

VO Pass me your Doc.
Me Ok Sir

VO He was checking very page of my Passport from the beginning to the end, he also check from the back to the front as well,
taking him up to 1 minute 50 seconds to throw the first question.
VO Know traveling history?

ME Yes

VO WHY?

ME No reason for it.

VO what is the purpose of your trip to the US?

ME To study CE at ***** state university located at P*******

VO Can I see your WAEC result?

ME I gave him the result, he then the place the result under ultra violent light to check if it is fake or not

VO why CE?
ME Am willing to shift my expertise from S&G to CE to suite family business.

VO why the university?
ME the university is consistently in the top 15 US universities offering Engineering on it investment per student on Libraries, computer facilities, language learning facilities, .......

VO cut in, Do you need Libraries to study?
ME I said something but I can really remember what I told him, but it something like NO.

VO How many other universities do you apply to?
ME 4 schools

VO Name them?
ME memorial university of newfoundland canada
california state university
Howard university
university of lagos

VO how much is your tuition fee?
ME 24,000 US dollar or there about.

VO Who is going to pay all this 24,000 US dollar
ME My dad
at this moment he has already place my international passport alongside other international passport collected for the day. I was very happy at the moment

VO what does your dad do?
ME He is a chief superintendent of police and he also owns a small scale business.

At the point he was looking at his computer, he also look at me and then remove my passport from the other ones.
I was praying with my mind my cos I know something has went wrong.

VO Your dad business is not doing fine at the moment, am going to denial you on the bases of funding your education in the US,
you can reapply when you have adaquate funding.

The time frame for the interview is about 13 minute.
On that day, they were all denying everybody including family pple.
using the word "small scale" ended your case...otherwise you would have been approvesd...a VO can easily calculate with his brains how far a small scale business can go in Nigeria...you should have said your dad has a personal/family business alongside his profession and he's left to ask what and what and how big his business is....propagate the enormous business and wealth of your parents even if dem no get shishi....

lanrypaddy: Hello to you all,
Please friends kindly help me out because I have scheduled my US Visa interview at Lagos embassy here in Nigeria and I want to know my possibilities of getting Visa. My details is as follows:
I am a graduate of University of Ilorin here in Nigeria, I graduated with B.Sc. in Plant Biology second class upper and undergraduate percentage is 76.2%. I graduated in October 2010 and did NYSC till october 2011. Since then I have been applying to institutions(local and abroad) for my masters.I gained admission into Obafemi Awolowo University (M.Sc. Botany), University of East London (M.Sc. Bioscience)and another conditional offer in UK university. My Uncle who has been living in US for long told me to apply to CCSU which is in the country he lives about 45min drive from his house in Connecticut. I applied to the school and I was given admission in May 2012 and now I get CCSU Form I-20 with major in M.Sc. Biology/ General Bioscience. I did TOEFL and scored 78/120 but my school inform me that I do not need GRE for admission. My mother is my sponsor and she has sufficient funding in her bank account. On M̶̲̥̅Ɣ sevis online receipt, M̶̲̥̅Ɣ uncle's address Ȋ̝̊̅§ on it because he paid Fø̲̣̣я̅ M̶̲̥̅ƺ when I told him I couldn't pay the fee here in Nigeria. Hope the VO won't query M̶̲̥̅ƺ much on this and what can I say if asked?
Can anybody kindly tell me how my VI might look like and my possibilities of getting VISA despite low TOEFL score, no GRE, my Uncle living in US(though I have planned to deny knowing his whereabout in the US but I will just say I have Uncle over there if asked). What are the possible questions I might be ask by the VO and what should my response be like? What are the documents I should take along with me and how should I appear at the Lagos embassy on the day?
If I were ask that how many institution did I applied to? can I tell the VO about the local and UK institutions wont it have any bad effect as I applied to only CCSU in US and 2 in UK. please friends kindly help me out because my interview is fast approaching by early next month (August).
Expecting to hear from you soon. Thanks.
Guy...i'm also a graduate of unilorin and i went for my interview some weeks ago...we'll there's nothing wrong with your profile here and i can say you're good to go...just have your confidence...i also got admission into a UK school and another institution in Nigeria and i must tell you it was a strong point 'cos it shows you're a serious student and not desperate...if asked why you chose CCSU just tell the VO that was the school that offered you admission in the area of your interest...know your area of interest and about the school and you're good to go...your mum being your sponsor is also a great point on your side...don't bother about the sevis receipt, they understand that nigerians cannot pay from here...the address on mine was cotonou cos that was where i paid...if asked how many universities you appled to...tell the VO that CCSU, the two schools in UK and OAU in ife...that'll do...there's no need to panic or lie ok...the VO may not even to see a single document...if you can write to the school to get you a waiver letter on your GRE, please do and if you cannot...just go with your confidence...wish you all the best and come share your testimony also...cheers

THEN THE VO ASK ME WHY AM I GOING FOR UNDERGRADUATE AND SWITCHING FIELD ENTIRELY FROM AGRICULTURE EDUCATION TO BIOTECH, PLEASE I NEED ANSWER OOOOOOOO

VO :WHY ARE U GOING FOR UNDERGRADUATE AND SWITCHING FIELD ENTIRELY FROM AGRICULTURE EDUCATION TO BIOTECH

WHAT ABOUT THIS ANSWER:NIGERIA IS REVISITING AGRICULTURE AND WANT TO INVEST A HUGE RESOURCE ON IT, BIOTECH IS ANOTHER FIELD BUT IT HAS AN APPLICATION TO AGRICULTURE, THAT IS WHAT AM REALLY INTERESTED IN, I WANT TO HELP TO IMPROVE THE AGRICULTURAL SECTOR, STUDYING THIS COURSE WILL HELP NIGERIA IN TERM OF IMPROVING THE SEE AND LIVES OF OUR FARM ANIMAL TO PRODUCE GOOD YIELD AND ALSO FIGHT AGAINST RESISTANCE

PLEASE I THINK THIS IS WELL CONSTRUCTED?

PLEASE HELP TO IMPROVE IT FOR ME.
Well I don't know much about agric or biotech either...but i know the VO has no right to deny you based on what you wanna study...Just try as much as possible to show you have a genuine reason for choosing such course and the school....know more technical terms about biotech...firstly define biotech and use the definition to link it to why u wanna study biotech and it's prospects in Nigeria for you...all the best buddy.
