blacnewton: Visa Approved! 6.30am Transcript.
So I stayed in one of the hotels mentioned here: Semi Ramis on Hawley Street, Obalende. Room is ₦4.5k with A/C
Couldn't sleep, was just singing praises and asking God for favor (I need to stress this part)
Left the hotel around 4.30am, dropped my phone with the hotel receptionist.
Got to Walter Carrington around 4.45am. I was the first person there. I just started gisting with the MOPOL Officers there.
The whole process started around 6am
I was the second on the queue. The lady in front of me went to a white lady, while the Chinese guy called me.
VO: Pass me your i-20 and Intl Passport (no good morning orishirishi) I passed the docs.
VO: How did you get to know about the school?
Me: My cousin, who is an alumna of the school strongly recommend it and I also checked collegefutureboard and common app to see if the school meets my career goals.
VO: You are 24, why are you just going for your BSC?
Me: Upon graduation from Sec School in 2008, I did an OND in computer science for two years and a compulsory one year internship where I worked as a Data Entry Personnel. Then I went ahead to do an HND in the same course for two years. I later enrolled in computer school for a year and took my SAT in between.
VO: Why are there so many inconsistencies in your story? You just kept skipping programs, you didn't finish any. How am I sure you are going to finish your program?
Me: I did finish. Diplomas are not longer than 2 years and I did two before I went to Computer school?
VO: What's the name of the computer school?
Me: *I just went blank*
VO: What's the name of the computer school?
Me: The computer school is in Lagos.
VO: What is your major?
Me: Information Technology.
VO: How sure am I that you will come back? What will you be doing after the program?
Me: I intend working in a top tech company in Nigeria as a world class software developer, because we have just a few software developers in the country and I want to bridge that gap by becoming a solution provider.
VO: Be honest with me. Did you work at all? Just be honest.
Me: Yes I did, but they were volunteer jobs and I wasn't paid for those gigs so I didn't include it on my DS 160.
VO: Enjoy your stay in the US.
Me: What??
VO: I said Enjoy your stay in the US.
I really benefited from all the transcripts dropped here. At some point I wanted to scream "any Nairalander in the house?" but fear no gree me.
Please and Please try to do a mock interviews before your appointment.
Pray too biko. I was just favored by God today. My voice just dey shake.
Special thanks to @texrem and @Adewotired. Congrats but you should have said the truth there because God is watching you ooo. No mind me just kidding oo |

boykas: Okay... Let me try to explain to you.. In 2011 I got an admission to Dickinson state University and was denied 4 consecutive times and to be honest with you I was discouraged and since then I never go back to school cuz I lost everything in traveling..
During those period I did my SAT which cost me 50,000 then, I still have the result including the SEVIS fees I paid.
I know how to convince the Vo if they ask me what have I been doing since then.. But I can't get admission for the past one month now.. Have been trying to get it but it seems difficult.. If you can help me with the procedure.. I will be happy thanks I got confused with your post, you said you got admitted with a school before but delayed in 2011 but now you finding it difficult to get admission and get admitted to a school If I may ask, how do you get the admission in 2011 because the same pattern even though there is slight changes. I guess something is wrong somewhere with you. |

PabloTrinity: Dear all, please I have a challenge, someone in the US paid for my SEVIS fee on Wednesday via mail (money order). I have been tracking it and recently got notification (yesterday) that it has been delivered. I understand Saturday is a non working day for SEVP, however my interview is for Wednesday ( i.e 3 days time). I am a bit scared that the processing of the SEVIS fee might take long and may not be out by Tuesday. As such, I will like to know how long it will take (the money order having been delivered), before I am able to go online to check status and print confirmation. Will it be online on or before Tuesday? Assuming it is not, how flexible is the cancellation and rescheduling process? Can I cancel and still reschedule for this week or will only a longer date be made available to me?
I will appreciate your feedback.
Thank you. Don't be scared and if payment quickly clear on Monday then receipt will be online. Why don't you use WU if I may ask and why MO ? |

opemide007: My passport was taken from me by a woman @the 1st desk this morning I got to Lagos yesterday @ around 8pm, took a bus to Obalende and trekked to Igbosere/Lewis street to get a cheap hotel. Fortunately I got one @ Harley Street for 3.5k(Semi-Ramis Hotel),the room was with AC. Fast forward to this morning....woke up around 4am.....i was out of the hotel by 4:45am...took a bike to Bonny camp for 0.2k Got to the embassy around 5.05am. The CGI guy came to sort the 6:30am and I was the first on the queue!
I was screened to the CGI table but alas my name wasn't on the manifest, I sha lost my first position(I knew God knew about it)...I was later sorted into the power house. My fingerprint scanned and I assumed my position on the queue to be interviewed. The woman that took my fingerprint scan later switched her position for the interview section which and I happened by favour to be on her desk
VO: Tell me about the program Me: I'll be going to WIU to have my MSc in Health Sciences with Conc in Health education and prevention. I'll be focusing my study on cancer education and prevention to reduce cancer mortality in Nigeria. VO: why WIU? Me: WIU is the best midwestern university and i'll also be privileged to work with erudite researchers in the field of oncology care to have a great insight into my field of study VO: who'll be sponsoring your study? Me: my father The woman just gave me the white paper and seized my passport.
Twas God that did it...I found favour, mercy and kindness.
Thanks to everyone on this trend especially Madam Lagosismyhome and Sir Akins2016, both gave a good critique of my transcripts. I won't forget Texrem too who helped with mock interview. God bless you all.
I'm always available to help others too. Thanks You are funny, she didn't sieze your passport and don't you know that it's inside you passport they will stamp your visa? Abi you think say nah white paper or print out letter on US embassy letter head paper be the visa Don't worry you will get your passport back new week and expect mail or text message from them. |

PabloTrinity: Yes it belongs to my mum and there is a sponsorship letter to that effect on the business name letter head, I also have the bank statement. Walspring I am not in any way surprised that the business name is on the 1-20. I submitted a corporate account. But someone had an argument with me today that corporate accounts are not acceptable, thus my enquiries. Since everything belongs to your mum then to me you are good to go. |

deeMarc: Lol...typical Nigerian, always stand aside to castigate and point out our problems but never do anything to salvage the situation. Funny how you listed all those things above without mentioning that their young able bodied men like you didn't leave the country then for a greener pasture and at the same time hoping those left behind would be busy inventing electricity, oil, nuclear energy and automobiles. Why didn't you leave America for Nigeria after your studies to contribute your own quota to the country? Were you born in America? What have you done to help Nigeria be a better country like the country you are in? You once posted here that you've both American and British citizenship,so I'm asking you this, while those people were developing their country, were they looking for other nationals citenzenship here and there. I see you as someone who has this holier than thou attitude, egocentric and ... Don't come here to be the type of Nigerians that rant online while enjoying the comfort of America. If you're so pained and so bothered about Nigeria, there's nothing stopping you from booking the next available flight to Nigeria and let's build the nation together to be a better place for us all to dwell in, since our leaders have failed us,keep failing us and will always fail us . You said majority of what I thought when I posted about Pharisee and scribe characteristics in early hours to today. |
