Good ! saying Okun is not Yoruba Is like saying egba, Ijebu ijesha is not Yoruba. You said they have a language that they speak, if u you understand yoruba very well, you will know what they speak is Yoruba. just like someone speaking Ikale, egba, Ijebu, ijesha, that is how they speak Okun.

Yes. I have lived in the area and has gone to many of their places like egbe, isanlu, kabba, ijumu, amuru, mopa etc. They have their language which even among themselves is still not understood within the different towns in okun land like ijumu cannot understand egbe people when they speak. All of this people in kogi west are called okun people. This okun people has strong cultural affinity with yorubas in the west. They have and speak their local language but also majorly communicate in yoruba very well. Many of them are also proud to associate with yorubas and claim to be but there are some minority of them that believe that they are not yorubas but only culturally yorubas. They are very good people. Personally i know they are more of yorubas. One other tribes like ogori and mangogo in kogi state are also culturally related to yorubas but they are not yorubas. They are influenced by yoruba. I hope you understand. What do you think.

He is not a lagos state indigene but a lagosians. Majority of people incharge of Lagos state are non indigenes from other south west states: Aregbe now osun governor but one time commissioner, tinubu from osun, Ambode from ondo. The igbos even forced themselves to enter lagos state and federal house of assembly courtesy of their domineering attitude and huge population not just waiting for appointments as commissioners as usual. Only about 18% of lagosians are indigenes. They are true pic of what we call "nomansland". He is a kogi man from okun ethnic group in kabba area with culturally affinity to the yorubas. He cant be a lagos indigene or else apc will loose totally.

2. Without a great song, Kanye can't make even his own song popular. Otherwise, why wasnt Kanye able to make other Dbanj's songs which were even produced in GOOD music studio?

3. Producing 1 million songs for Dbanj and other artists that didnt win any award does not take away the fact that they struck their gold in Oliver twist.

4. Like I said before, Kanye may have helped a bit, but the magic of a successful song is first of all; the producer.

And if we may be honest for once, Oliver twist was going to be big with or without Kanye.

1. Brain behind success of a song. is not necessarily producer. a. lot of things come to play when it comes to commercial success. producer is important, the artist is equally important.
2. Kanye can't make his song popular? Let me point this out to you, Rick Ross make Onye the most watched Psquare video. Psquare had bigger hits than Onye, but its the most watched of their video. (If I am not mistaken).
3. Don Jazzy may have produce a million songs, its not a coincidence that the one Kanye appeared on the video is the biggest hit.
4. Kanye didn't help a bit, he is the reason for that international success.

The category D'banj won is all about who've been able to push African music to the rest of the world. And D'banj was able to do this with Oliver Twist of which the brain behind the song was Don Jazzy. So, its only normal and reasonable to dedicate the award to those who made it possible.

Again, the win has little or nothing to do with who is doing better music now. Its a maiden award and therefore had a lot to do with old material/work/songs.

I applaud D'Banj for dedicating it to him, but the truth is that Oliver twist enjoy that success because of Kanye West. Many Nigerians know this but they will not admit. is Oliver twist the first song Don Baba will produce for D'Banj? Or has he not been producing for artists after that? so why haven't those songs have such international success?
D'banj affiliation with Kanye helped him to push his music beyond borders, not Jazzy.
