Politics / Re: Bbc2 Welcome To Lagos! by Waxxy(m): 10:57pm On Apr 16, 2010 |
@kobojunkie, i believe it would work, MAkoko is a floating city itself. Those guys live and enjoy life on bamboo-stilted bungalows on the Lagos lagoon better than some of us on the mainland. They catch, farm and eat the freshest fish available, that works well with a few shots of freshly distilled Ogogoro in the cool of the day. |
Politics / Re: Bbc2 Welcome To Lagos! by Waxxy(m): 10:46pm On Apr 16, 2010 |
i loved it so much, everyone at work that saw it had nothing but sincere praise for the resilient and hardworking Lagosians. I can't wait for the Makoko episode. Makoko is a riverine ghetto i am priviledged to know its nooks and crannies very well because a few under priviledged classmates of mine from secondary school lived there. Most of these guys outperformed me despite my seemingly superior primary education and incessant private after-school tuition. most of them are now graduates working in major companies in Lagos. Makoko will not be very different from the dumpsite scenario from what i know and from the little snippet ive seen. people wanting to see lekki and VGC should keep thier fingers crossed, maybe next year, lol |
Travel / Re: Please Help Me Find My Nigerian Father 'ken Sijuade' by Waxxy(m): 11:19pm On Mar 05, 2010 |
Michelle, If you are able to establish the fact that Ken is from the Sijuwade Royal family (ask your mum if he ever mentioned this to her), then i think you should contact Chief Dele Momodu. He is the publisher of Nigeria/Africa's largest glossy (Ovation Magazine, google it) and he is very close to the Sijuwade's. Well, he is close to anyone that matters in NIGERIA. I guess you can find him on facebook or through his magazine. If you are able to get his attention, I can bet you that he'll only make one phone call and your problem would be solved. |
Celebrities / Re: Dating Dan Foster: Linda Ikeji Was Miserable by Waxxy(m): 10:59pm On Mar 05, 2010 |
The girl said she was miserable in the relationship, she didnt say she was abused or anything. maybe he was miserable too, they obviously didnt fit. Punch is just trying to make a mountain out of a molehill |
Travel / Re: Please Help Me Find My Nigerian Father 'ken Sijuade' by Waxxy(m): 10:33pm On Mar 05, 2010 |
@poster, You claim your dad is supposedly from Ife, in Nigeria. Well, your surname Sijuwade (Ken probably ignored the W, its permitted) is the same as that of the ruling royal family of ILE-IFE in present OSUN State of Nigeria. Google Oba Okunade Sijuwade, the present royal. If you can narrow down your search to the royal family, i think you will make good headway. Godspeed PS: Be very careful of scammers, Nigerians will generally help you with an emotioal issue as yours without demanding a penny. Dont be tempted to offer any financial gratification. |
Romance / Re: My Roommates Boyfriend by Waxxy(m): 10:20pm On Mar 05, 2010 |
Abeg jo, me and ma Chic's (complicated) roomy cotch for hours gisting when i go visiting, we're from the same endz in Lagos and we get along so much i think my girl sometymz just leaves us to reminisce about our chilhood (She's a Nigerian girl but from the east), one time we even got some nice Rose and finger foods and lay drinking on her bed for hours and yea, she wus in her PJ's. we both knew our partners would not be convinced if they had opened the door on us at that moment, but we just chilled and had a good time with a pure mind. She has a fantastic boyfriend and i'm happy for her, but theyre some things you can talk to another guy about that you probably wont tell your bf. vice versa. were both crazy about our partners and know what we want. The fact is that there's no sexual attraction whatsoever (at least not from me). I would think it depends on your maturity, if you dont have any skeletons i your wardrobe, carry go jo PS: i speak from UK angle, dont try it in Naija o |

The great laurette refered to them as "power prosti.tutes", that was way back in 1972. I can't seem to find a better definition for the Dele Momodus, the Jerry Ganas and the segun Adeniyis of this world. (The Man Died, 1972) How in the world can a man who boasts of being a June 12 faithful, sought Asylum in the UK for being connected with the June 12 struggle now claim to have "instant" personal contact with anything related to the Babangidas!!! Was it all a drama, was he a double agent all the while, does he realize he further incriminates himself with boastful name dropping, is he in denial? I could go on. Dele the douche bag should wake up and smell the coffee, this is the generation Y, no longer do we just take your word for it, we investigate, analyze, critique and refer you to past acts and statements no matter who you think you are. I await his announcement as Yaradua's new backside-kisser, thats if Umoru awakes from vegetative state. If for one thing only, I thank the rasclaat for resigning, it was long overdue |

Politics / Re: Dele Momodu Replies Nairalanders! by Waxxy(m): 11:24pm On Sep 03, 2009 |
The minute Dele Momodu & his supporters realize that you cannot befriend the oppressor and the oppressed at the same time, the better. No one here has condemned Ovation!, it is simply a soft sell that celebrates Africans both at home and in the diaspora, good job. Ovation has featured many great minds and credible people on its pages; but it has also glamourized the most corrupt of politicians in Africa, with whom Mr Momodu is good friends. All said, no one has a problem with this. But when the publisher of such a magazine, a friend to the same thieves who readily plunder our resources decides to speak against corruption in the dailies, then we have a problem. Added to that, he seems to confuse himself in his own column. The guy should just stick to his day job |

this thread never die!!!! Gabry:lwkmd i personally hate pet names like darling, honey, sweetheart soulmate etc. i prefer if a girl calls me my name but in a personalised way that is unique to me alone or by one of my other name by which no one (except mum/ Granny) calls me. so i do (did) the same for her. no fakish, annoying pet names 1 Like |

Politics / Re: Dele Momodu Vs Nigerian Youths. by Waxxy(m): 12:49am On Aug 31, 2009 |
Dele momodu is playing smart, the subject of discourse here is that he has been a "praise singer" for criminals and corupt politicians over time. He does not qualify to call himself a people activist or a protege of Awo/MKO because he wines and dines with those responsible for Nigeria's many problems We have all suffered/ still suffering. so that pathetic nadeco/london story is not convincing enough. He neds to renounce this crooks publicly and make concerted effort to show that he is now on the side of the masses, if he truly is and not just seeking cheap popularity. I now have reasons to believe those who think he may be courting political office, that is the only time when people start to talk as if they give a toss about the plight of the masses Concerning CBN's Sanusi, we are watcing carefully Mr Momodu. we will judge him sometime soon, just as we are judging you now. you be assured of that. MORE POWER TO THE ELBOWS OF NIGERIAN YOUTHS |

@rokiatu, thank you for clearing things up @oyinda, u confuse me u were jst saying that i was wrong, now you agree with rokiatu A nice guy doesnt reek of tetoterone, never talk of sex all the time, and all those things that you alluded to in your first post, the statistics never get it right What you described earlier are the xteristics of a blatant player (the type that always get caught), not a cheat or a smooth operator |

Romance / Re: Your Bf Lets His Friends Hears Your Teleconversation All The Time! Why? by Waxxy(m): 11:54am On Aug 30, 2009 |
im not too worried about your boyfriend, the focus is on you. its now obvious that his boys know your business, what you have to do is to keep them at bay, especially the ones not in a commited rltp. Never tell your man that his friend(s) is hitting on you, he wont believe you, until he realizes it himself. best friends are like brothers, he probably listens to him more than he does to you anyway. you just make sure the guy can never get through to you, and trust me he will try. the easiest way he might use to get to you is to tell you things your man is not telling you (present or past secrets) that you may or may not have suspected. Believe whatever he tells you, its the truth, but give him the impression that you are not bothered, he will spill more. Deal with it like a matured person, dont break down or confront your man angrily, even if youre truly mad him. PS: He was not any other guy. he was my best friend. still is!!! Don't be shocked, its all about maturity |
