rudedough: I see you're bent on taking home a trophy after the discuss instead of being reasonable and constructive in your contributions.

To answer your question in context of this debate, NO!!! The cost of living does not affect the standard of Banana, Titus fish, Bread and Cigarette. High taxes affect the prices of commodities in the market rather.

Now go grab your trophy. You Win!!!! Enough of the back and forth argument already. Good luck.
happy new year to you smiley

Krucifax: I'm not even sure how to respond to this. How you from where you are could possibly be arguing with me on this point is beyond comprehension. I'm not sure if i sure should inform you or just ignore you to be honest. But for the sake of other people who are genuinely interested in this matter i would say this, please look at the websites below. They are some of the best ones for job seekers. Go and check hom much people get paid in the U.K.

p.s The only people who tend to make "salaries" £100k + are C.E.Os or very senior executives of big companies. Investment bankers basic salaries are about half that but can top it easily with bonuses "when" they do well.

that's what i'm telling you apparently most are fallacy they are just being advertised how many people get the job only few whites get the job smiley

lol you've started behaving like the white people by monopolizing and dishing out false information on internet so people won't know what's going on. is it not what they publish you will believe just as the way the moderators on nairaland works, go to job center and see lots of people applying with all this figure you put on here being advertised yet only few get the job.....FACT.... i mean one out of fifty.

EBK2: I disagree with you. In this type of issue, our personal experience is irrelevant rather we should just look at the bigger picture. Name any profession,I will gladly chose to practice it in UK than Nigeria. However, It easy to set up business in Nigeria than UK but that is because UK is an advanced economy.
Your husband, like most Nigerians value certificate more than experience and having right personality and attitude which doesn't cut it with UK labour market. MSC means nothing to me when I am interviewing candidates for a role. Attitude, personality, skill set rank higher than qualification. An average Nigerian lists his/her qualification on CV first before experience. I don't know what your hubby studied but the market place in UK and London is unique. It is service oriented. If you don't study the right stuff and gain experience, you will struggle, like your hubby. I know of many nigerian friends earning way over £100k and no connection involved...just the right skills. most bank CEOs I know in Nigeria earn on average £200k excluding outside deals. If you live in London, you got to aim banking, law, accountancy and IT. Others areas may not earn you much except public sector jobs like Doctor etc. another problem is many are not informed. Many Nigeria guys are just with the wrong clicks that add little or no value to their lives.
The way of life in this country is unique like most countries and there are a lot of Nigerians that find it extremely difficult to understand and adjust to life in the UK. They therefore moan and want to go back to Nigeria. But once you do, work on yourself (not just academically), opportunities will be pursuing you. It doesn't come easily or overnight though.
There are other life considerations other than how much money you make at month end. I love Nigeria and love to visit but always looking fwd to leaving. Everyone in Nigeria is suffering(Rich and poor alike).
Those that are doing well just take consolation in the fact that they are doing better than their 'neighbours'. But in the right scheme of things and compared to experiences from other countries I have been to (and I have been to many around the globe), everyone in Nigeria is suffering physically and mentally due to structural problems associated with Nigerian society, and this includes the very wealthy
what's this one saying... CRAP... try and contribute positively by redefining all what you've just typed here. have you ever had £20,000 in cash which the OP is about investing in Uk not to talk of £100,000, do you really know the CBN interset rate compare to Bank of England ...know you don't.. stop comparing the majority in England that lives on social services to those in Nigeria which money works harder for them.. do you know how many people that commit suicide because they couldn't afford tv licence, so funny i bet you don't even pay that smiley

TravelRe: Is It Advisable To Settle In The United Kingdom After Studies by wayforward: 10:28pm On Dec 30, 2013
bet365enemy: @OP
I'll tell u my story and I'll make it short. Like many Nigerians of my age range, I'm ambitious and wanted to study in the UK. I came to the UK only to find out that my supposed school was a private school owned by a Pakistani, no football court, library and the basics a school should have, "dissapointed" was an understatement. Due to the people I move with, they enlightened me how the UK system works, now I'm married to a British citizen and going to a way better school at the expense of their government. (though I'll pay it back bit by bit later on when I'm on a good pay) and work wise, yes I have work permit but don't think you would be able to send money home if you are married to a British citizen (seems the easiest way to get citizenship) they know how much you are earning and expect you to put it on the table at the end of the month, basically you spend each other's salary together.
On my bid to find extra income which my wife won't know about. I stumbled on football betting, today I can tell you I've made enough to build me a decent house, buy me a good car, and have a decent business back home while I'm still going to school and a British citizenship as a plus.
Bottom line is, do not let anyone/anything put you off. If you believe you can, with God by your side and your self determined spirit, You will succeed.
Wish u good luck.
SMH at the bolded part is that the best advise you can give?

POSIBILITY: I will also advise the OP not to come to UK since his intention is to settle in UK after study. Please RUN to Cannana. These are my reasons:

1. UK Post-study work visa (PSWV) which gave 95% of those that settled in UK the opportunity to secure professional jobs has been cancelled. You will get between one to three years automatic PSWV in Cannada depending on the duration of your course.

2. UK Highly Skilled Migrant Programme (HSMP) has also been scrapped. Federal and Provincial noninee HSMP is still available in cannada though not automatic but if you meet certain conditions, you will get it. Please research further on this.

3. Even if you want to marry 'oyinbo' to regularize your stay in UK after study, the rules have been tightened as well. I don't know much about their marriage rule in Cannada, but I presume it cannot be as hard UK marriage rule.

Moreover, for your information, without a valid visa with right to work in all the first world countries, you are better off in your home country.

Just to let you know,I came to UK to study Msc Finance with similar intentions like yours but the realities on ground are better imagined than experienced. So I am already packing my bags and baggages to return home.

Only If could turn back the hand of the clock, I would genlty stay back in Naija or move to Cannada.

My two cents.
good one bro but people should please stop advising anyone to try other western world, Canada, USA or whatsoever if you or your household don't have enough funds in balance after your study abroad and if you are gathering money like the OP to study abroad then you are on your own.

Mr Knowitall: An investment that will give a good return in one year is not really that impressive. A good investment has longevity,

stability, and predictability. Can Nigeria offer all these consistently at a satisfactory level?
Business people dont look short term.
Education is subject to business isn't it, so how can one find all the grammar and consistency you just mention above in 1 year in UK especially when you are not a citizen smiley
TravelRe: Is It Advisable To Settle In The United Kingdom After Studies by wayforward: 4:51pm On Dec 30, 2013
Mr Knowitall: I fail to see the blind advice you are referring too, this was my advice to him

^^^^^^
I told him staying in the U.k without papers is not ideal, am i wrong? Then I told him to at least go to school there then

deal with the rest later. Where is the blind advice? But why do you think that if he stays in Nigeria he will automatically succeed?
Right, will tell you what you need to know firstly automatic success is not guaranteed anywhere in the world so you use or work based on the information you have. secondly Nigerian's population is a big resources on it's own either you are into buying and selling you still have your own customer, i think you can expand this on your own. lastly the reasoning should be, what and which country can one invest £20,000 and get a good return under 1 year.
TravelRe: Is It Advisable To Settle In The United Kingdom After Studies by wayforward: 4:27pm On Dec 30, 2013
Mr Knowitall: I understand, but why do you think your advice will yield an automatic success for him?
Depending on what you regard as Success.
TravelRe: Is It Advisable To Settle In The United Kingdom After Studies by wayforward: 4:21pm On Dec 30, 2013
Mr Knowitall: Am confused; how did you get anywhere in my post that i expect God to come down and rescue me in the U.K?

I know enough about this issue to know more than you my friend.
But you type as if you have little knowledge about this, how can you advise someone blindly by advising them to go UK and struggle even without concrete foundation and no assurance of visa after graduation.
TravelRe: Is It Advisable To Settle In The United Kingdom After Studies by wayforward: 4:09pm On Dec 30, 2013
Mr Knowitall: Dont give up on going to U.K just because of people on Nairaland. Some of them probably went there to do 419.

You have nothing to loose.
my advice is the OP should invest his £20.000 tuition + living exp on business rather than going broke again after 1 year in UK and visa eventually expired smiley

Ugosample: Hello house, please i need your opinion on this issue, especially those settled there already. I'm an undergraduate student due to graduate SOON. ASUU strike has disorganised things but we have to keep moving... I've been shopping for schools in the UK, picked one, analysed the fees and i, with the support of my family are raising funds for a post graduate degree in finance. Things are going fine with respect to raising the funds. But to be honest, i intend settling in the Uk after my studies and starting a new life there. Please house. Is this advisable? What are the potential challenges i may face be it immigration, money or unemployment problems? Please i need your opinion. Thank you.
there are job everywhere in uk depending on where and what you studied, but the best possible solution is when you finished an undergraduate degree course and not Msc that is when you are almost 100% assured to secure a job after maximum of six month, do your research.
TravelRe: Is It Advisable To Settle In The United Kingdom After Studies by wayforward: 3:45pm On Dec 30, 2013
Mr Knowitall: This is why I tell people to take the risk because it will most likely payoff. You have people here always telling everyone stay

in Nigeria, that there are no jobs in the U.k, U.S, and Nigerians are suffering there and blah blah blah. I believe those people

have peasant mentality. They are the same people that believe that God will come down and take the risk for them

and give them the rewards, peasants.
you are chatting bullocks by mentioning God, will that your God come down to rescue you in UK, i guess you know very little about this issue so my candid advise is for you to keep quiet
