JeffreyJamez:And you want to compare Nigeria to those countries economically? You want to compare unemployment rates in Nigeria to theirs? Mind you, people in those countries know what they are doing and are self-disciplined. I was recently conducting Google keyword research, and I was surprised at the number of US searches for "How to overcome smartphone addiction". Now, those are self-disciplined people who know how to check themselves when they are taking things too far (and that's why many people in America are still not using smartphones). Are Nigerians like that? |
Good post with solid points. But if this post should gain more prominence, you'll get lots of bashing from those who want everyone to keep wallowing in a mire of unchecked liberalism. |
This addiction to social media is ruining everything. And it's bad for even the economy as a whole. When paid employees spend more time on social media rather than concentrate on the job they are paid for, their productivity reduces, the employer records less progress and profits than expected. The ultimate result? Employers are forced to lay off employees just to stay afloat. Now, before some skunks read shitty meanings into my words, I've not said social media addiction is the only reason for increased loss of jobs due to dwindling fortunes of employers. But it sure is one of the contributing factors. In addition, Nigerians would be better off if only they can cut down on the hours spent on "slaying", "calling out", "reacting", "shading", "trolling", "bashing", and doing all sorts on social media. If only they could channel that time into brainstorming for innovative business ideas that can better their fortunes, that would not only grant them financial independence but also create jobs and improve the economy. |
Jesusloveyou:@pneme, can you see the above? |
pneme:What did I prove? That few among other Muslims who have spoken against terrorism got killed. Yes, that's just to debunk the myth that the silence by other muslims is due to their support. (It's out of caution). Try to read between lines and comprehend well before commenting. |
pneme:Cool. You can also take your hatred for Islam elsewhere. Enjoy your coffee and let me be. |
pneme:The few Muslims who spoke against terrorism in the north, what became of them? They were killed! Sheikh Ja'far and Albani Zaria and few others, I mean, or you've not been following the news? So, you expect more to speak and get sacrificed? Call them (those who aren't saying anything publicly) cowards. I call them smart people. The so called brave people who have spoken out and gotten killed, the truth they spoke out is now supporting their families financially, right? |
pneme:LOL at "getting angry and about to explode". People like you just like to portray yourself as "know-it-all". I didn't know you have a fibre optics visual sensor. If you can really see me getting angry, tell me what the color of my shirt is. Kidding, anyway. My point is, never jump to conclusions based on assumptions. As for your saying that I made up what I claimed I saw, well, you're free to believe what you like or not. I don't have to waste my time trying to convince you with further details. Enjoy your "cup of coffee". |
pneme:And someone here can't draw a line between conservative and being extremist. Anyway, I can see where you're coming from. |
DonDiego:Good suggestion, but direct it to the right authorities. |
pneme:Don't be myopic! And you have no right to tell me stop my sentence without completing it. I had some Christian ladies in my class in the university who never shook hands with guys. If you've not met such, that's not my problem, but a deficit in your level of exposure. From your comment, I can deduce that you're a Christian, and that's why you were quick to say what I said about conservative Christians was nonsense. Well, there's nothing as true as reality. I've seen them and knew them for years. Not many, though. And we never saw them as radical Christians. Leave anyone to practice his or her religion to whatever extent he or she likes. That's my own. If you're not the religious type, that's your choice. For those who are religious, that's their choice as well. Enough of all these rantings as if the man has committed a crime. |
woodmood:You get it. I'm just weak for Nigerian youths. |
DonDiego:Conservative people who are truly sincere to their religion will never bend any rules because of political appointments or whatever. And they're present in every religion -- Islam, Christianity, Judaism, etc. Until the constitution outlaws such people, people like you can only rant on. |
ZombiePUNISHER:And one more thing? Do you visit most government agencies and offices during Christmas? Do you see heavily decorated they are with Christmas trees and other decorations? Is the same done during Muslim celebrations? No! Even hospitals like LUTH where I work do the same. Is LUTH is a christian hospital? So, if you have to attack at all, attack both religions, not just the one you hate or are aware of. As for Nigeria being a secular country, that's a widely generated fallacy. A check your dictionary for the meaning of "secular". A secular country does not recognize religious holidays. Rather, Nigeria is a multi-religious country. |
ZombiePUNISHER:So, because he is a Muslim, he has to renounce his religion or religious values because he took a political appointment. Please tell that shit to the dogs! Bring a part of the constitution that makes what he did wrong. If there’s none, then stay off my mention! |
His choice. So, what? I know conservative Muslims who don't shake hands with non-related members of the opposite sex. I've also met conservative christians who don't do it. So, why should people make a big deal out of nothing? It's quite funny how Nigerians prefer to search for the next person to criticize and vent their frustrations on rather than engage in activities that would better their own lives. |
seunmarytemi:And you think a public forum is the right place to reveal a very private and personal health challenge like yours? Your best bet is to visit a seasoned gynecologist to get yourself assessed and treated well for any impending or established pathologies. |
Julius2214:Based on my experience of Google keyword research, more than 90 percent of Google users in Nigeria use the word "Nigeria" and "Nigerian" in their search queries. So, from an SEO standpoint, "Nigerian" is better. As for Google reckoning with the name "Naija", well it only takes it as a synonym for "Nigeria". And that's why a Google search including "Naija" would return many results with "Nigeria" included, but it doesn't happen the other way round. |
LionDeLeo:This is very true. If you encounter some real dullards in NYSC camp, you'll lose hope in this country. |
If you really love yourself (or that person close to you who has high BP), you'll rather stay with medical anti-hypertensives that have been proven to work. A man presented at our accident and emergency in LUTH few months back after he came down with stroke. You know why? He stopped using the drugs doctors prescribed for him few days before then just because one "caring" friend introduced a potent herbal anti-hypertensive concoction to him. Note that his drugs have been working well for him before then, but he wanted to cut corners. With N5,000 or less per month, you'll be able to get anti-hypertensive drugs that will improve the patient's quality of life. If you think that's too much, then wait until the person experiences the complications. As for the man I was talking about, he left LUTH after 4 weeks with an unbalanced gait (which may or may not improve over time) and after paying hundreds of thousands of naira in hospital bills. Once again, if you really love yourself (or that person close to you who has high BP), stick with the drugs, and everything would be fine. |
GreatHercules:My post contained tips clear enough to help any smart person come up with a brilliant answer. There's no one hard-and-fast answer; any answer can be brilliant provided it focuses on buyer benefits (not features), gives convincing reasons to favour the product over other similar ones, and contains no shitty fluff or hype. You get it now? |
I can categorically tell you that your answer was far from brilliant! And if anyone gets hired with that kind of answer, then the interviewer doesn't know what to look out for. As far as marketing is concerned, everything you have to tell the potential buyer is useless if you don't place emphasis on user benefits. That is, answer the question subconsciously running through the potential buyer's mind, and that is, "What will this product do for me?" or "Why should I favour this product over the ones I'm already using?" The response above placed no emphasis on user benefits. It only talked about the features of the pen, which the potential buyer won't convert to features on their own. And the OP added that some units were shipped to Elon Musk. How does that help the potential buyer? And within the response, you embedded much more hype and fluff than one would expect to hear from someone trying to sell something as trivial as a pen. You tried too hard to make a pen look more important than it really is. |
Oluwamarc:To start with, what do you imply by "literary website"? |
Ajewealth123:The kidney is a delicate organ. Before signs of kidney damage would manifest at all, over 60 percent of kidney function is gone -- in most cases. So, it's usually not the patient's fault. The key is to avoid things that damage the kidney such as indiscriminate use of drugs, etc. Yes, something would still kill you, but it's better if it's not something avoidable. Those suffering terminal illnesses caused by their own ignorance or negligence would agree that nothing kills faster than horrible regret over what cannot be rectified. |
Someday, some time, it would be my turn. And someday, some time, it would be your turn. |
Good riddance to bad stupidity. Falsehood has several versions, but the truth never changes. |
Cool. |
Online business (blogging, freelancing, affiliate marketing, etc.) ... Started after being trained properly by those who are REALLY making money online, not the empty barrels you see everywhere. |
Waiting for some people to blame this on Buhari. |
If this is true, then I'd say: Good riddance to very useless nonsense. |
JayJohnson:You don't have to go haywire over an unserious comment. Even non-Muslims everywhere know that Muslims greet by saying "Assalaamu 'alaykum" (may peace be upon you). |
