The target of this crackdown is really the Mexicans. But if it comes to the worst, I trust Nigerians. Before the authorities take a step, they're already two ahead!

typical:

In Nigeria, it's got to be men.
In UK, women cheat more in marriages (I believe) than men.
Not sure about in America

You're damn right. I'll just add that in the U.S, its the women who cheat more.

or better still, try reinstalling windows and avoid doing activites that likely caused your pc to get this virus.
Computers / Re: Trojan.w32.looksky Infected My System. Need Help Pls by wed123(m): 10:55pm On Oct 14, 2007
Follow the steps below exactly in the order I have written:

Step #1

Download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your Desktop.

Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

NOTE: If the tool fails to launch from the Desktop, move SmitfraudFix.exe directly to the root of the system drive (usually Csmiley, and launch from there.

NOTE: process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

Step #2

Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) and save it to your Desktop.
Close all other windows before proceeding.
Double-click on dss.exe and follow the prompts.
When it has finished, dss will open two Notepads main.txt and extra.txt -- please copy (CTRL+A and then CTRL+C) and paste (CTRL+V) the contents of main.txt and extra.txt in your next reply.

In your next post please include the following reports:
SmitfraudFix report
dss scan reports main.txt and extra.txt

, oh, by the way, the dude that lost the penalty kick on 90 minutes should be flogged! Did someone not tell him it wasnt a goal kick?
Sports / Re: Match Against Mexico by wed123(m): 10:17pm On Oct 14, 2007
You're better off not watching it. Could have done something better with 90 minutes of my life. Taiwo is finished. Mikel looked like he had flu. Utaka now plays like he's a "big boy" (cos he's captain?), the coach is obviously a confused man. I cant score any player 3 out of 10 . Probably the Nigeria's worst game in recent times.

samix:

yeah we all know that the two educational systems are incomparable but nevertheless is it what all the money we are made to pay for it, because in my school you're xpected to do much of the work on your own though am a postgraduate student but i think the money we pay is just for the facilities and the certificate excluding the teachings u tend to get from a university in nigeria. Anyway the money is worth it if it will put you ahead of your colleagues back in nigeria init?

Right on, Samix. The way I look at it is to consider the net present value of one's educational costs. And so if all my expenditures will guarantee that I stay right on top of the pack of my colleagues, then that's the way to go.

Frankly though, I believe the fees for international students is overpriced. Consider that intl. students have to pay any where from 4 to 10 times the fees payable by local students (for the same program).

My experience has been as good as can be: a right balance of high academic standards and a very conducive environment. The best of it all? - I got a good job even before I wrote my final exams as several companies constantly came to the school to hire new grads.

Would I pay for my education here if I had to? Of course. However, my opinion may not accurately reflect what other students here feel, because my situation is a bit different. I got a scholarship that covered just about all of my expenses.

Vicjustice, I know what you're talking about so I would'nt get offended. But make no mistakes: I'm neither an agent, nor the benefactor. I'm just a former beneficiary (of the program) hoping to reach out to help serious and interested candidates. To qualify for the schorlarship, a candidate requires the recommendation/nomination of a former beneficiary. My findings indicate that there are very few Nigerians who know about this, and much less, who have been beneficiaries. And that's where I come in. To be sure, my help is absolutely free.Sometimes I'm at pains seeing nationals of other countries benefitting from this program, while Nigerians are still in the dark.

But I have elected to operate this way for a couple of reasons:

1) The first time I made this public, I was inundated with requests from both the most serious and cynic of people; as well as people who have no idea of what to do with their lives in the first place. Case in point: one of the few seemingly serious candidates got here and asbsconded. The result? My reputable got a bad beating.

2) I beleive that any genuinely interested candidate should be able to go the extra mile in seeking information. If any one is looking for ready made infor, posted right on nairaland for all (including idiots) to see and blemish, let the person simply walk on by. And if any interested person can not shoot me an email, well, goodluck.

I get your point, butopia, and you’re very right.

I’m pretty sure that this issue worsens with each passing generation. Could it be inbred? perhaps. Could it be socially induced? most likely. Now, is it any surprise that close to 80% of African-American children are born out of wedlock?. That’s 8 in 10 blacks kids born out of marriage! undecided

For one, poor job prospects among African-American men might help explain the seeming “incompatibility” problem, hence entrenched relationships is not seen as an option.

Again, the "love-vendor mentality" of rappers such as Nelly and 50 Cent, send a message to young black men that it's cool to be a thug, and a “player”, and that expressing your emotions or respecting women is unmanly.
Education / Re: Nigerians Studying Abroad by wed123(m): 5:28pm On Oct 14, 2007
I took an undergradute computer class back there and ended the class without even seeing a real computer. But my niece here uses computers and she's only in elementary school. That pretty much sums up the difference.
Career / Re: A Masters Degree Or Another B.sc by wed123(m): 4:57pm On Oct 14, 2007
I would go for a new undergraduate degree. But make sure that the new program is one that you know you will enjoy and also one that offers good (future) job prospects. I imagine that by now you would have figured out what led to your earning a third class. So I expect that you will work on correcting this.

Also, you got to be careful about studying “computing”. If you’re going to study computing, be sure to major in a concentration for “tomorrow”. Several “IT” people are going to be caught in a trap from this mad rush for IT programs because a lot of the IT fields are in their twilight. I am a software engineer and an MBA and I known what I’m saying. The world is moving towards the knowledge worker and I’m sure you don’t want to Lodite. Good luck in your career!

Romance / Re: I Cheated On My Husband, I Regret It Can I Tell Him? by wed123(m): 3:38am On Oct 14, 2007
@poster

A lot of those advicing you to confess have either never been in this sitaution or are underestimating the seriousness of the issue.

Here's what you may not know: the fastest/most guaranteed way to end your relationship or marraige to a guy is to "confess" to infidelity. Trust me. And like someone said earlier on, we (men) are never quite able to handle this - "nice" or "bad" guy - it cuts across.

O.k, let's just say 1 out of a million guys would live with this. But this odd guy will most likely be sufering from some kind of complex or is "living" with the sitaution just so he can have a defence for misbehaving in the future.

Did you do a very wrong thing? Yes. Do wish you'd never done that? you bet. But the most important thing is to rid yourself of the guilt. Seek forgiveness from God, forgive yourself, then think of it as a mistake that will inadvertently perk up your marriage; take something positive out of this. It's already happened but at least, now you know where/how you need to be touched, the most pleasant positions, the right speed/strenght of the thrusts etc (no puns intended) for more enjoyable sex. How about working to help inprove your husband in this aspect?
Travel / Re: Urgent? Does The American Embassy Recognise Scanned Copies Of Invition Letter. by wed123(m): 2:13am On Oct 14, 2007
Listen Dantecmu,

First time I applied for a visa (student) I naively went with an expired bank statement. Someone spotted this right there at the embassy grounds, and fellow "applicants" completely wrote me off. Guess what? I still got the visa while most of those guys who did not fancy my chances ended up being denied.

My point is: at times like this, when you've tried your best, let God take control of the rest. The ultimate decision is made by God. Just ask God to take cahrge and to put the right words in you mouth. My prayers are with you.
Travel / Re: Urgent? Does The American Embassy Recognise Scanned Copies Of Invition Letter. by wed123(m): 3:39am On Oct 13, 2007
Dantecmu, do not present the scanned copies of those documents. Instead, by all means, let your uncle fax them. Trust me on this. Their (embassy officials') general impression is that such "scanned" documents can be easily "created" at home. On the other hand, the fax number on the document would give them greater confidence that the document did in fact originate from overseas. Do let us know how it goes. Goodluck!
