Perfectbeing: Buhari could've tried to lead the North out of Nigeria after losing 3 elections, the last one being so badly rigged that the winner, Umar Musa Yaradua, all but admitted it... lol Rigging or no rigging the incompetent bigot that was Buhari would have lost woefully. He was rejected by the good Nigerian people multiple times until BAT decided to repackage him for his personal ambition. PBAT current reversal of all his poverty policies is evidence of PMB's title as the Failure in Chief It would have been better if Buhari left the rest of us in peace lol PS: Who is calling for a coup? |

FreeStuffsNG: It's a possibility. The only issue is that if PDP pairs a NW with SW, APC may have a rethink except they want to risk it. Politics is a game of number and that's why NW and SW candidates are top on the places parties love to choose their candidates.
A NE (Shettima) pairing with Wike/Akpabio/Umahi by APC can not stand against a Kwankwaso(NW) paired with Seyi Makinde (SW) by PDP o That is why if APC wants to retain power after 2031, it must get its VP from SW or just forget about winning.
Based on this political reality, the winning pairing for APC will be a Shettima and Fashola (BRF) pair in 2031. Lol okay oh |

Politics › Re: Fuel Sells For N560 Per Litre In My Area by wegevv: 12:24pm On Jul 28, 2023 |
nairalanda1: Simple.
Part of the subsidy payments went to the people who transport the petrol, what was called 'bridging costs'.
The aim of the cost was to keep prices equal across the country. And yes, it cost a lot of money (and yes, some people used it to make fake claims , but I am getting ahead of myself).
Once the subsidy was removed, so went the bridging costs payments. As a result, price of transporting fuel is factored into the cost of fuel, which is why fuel is 560 in Lagos, and 700 in Ilorin, and 615 in Abuja.
One way we could reduce transport costs....FIX THE RAILWAYS. Thanks for explaining To the others that implied OP was lying; shame on you all lol |

Politics › Re: Tribunal: The Difference Between “Rerun” And “Runoff” Election. by wegevv: 2:36pm On Jul 27, 2023 |
Penguin2: Since the idea of a possible rerun of the presidential election started getting muted in the public space, the contribution and comments of a lot of people, especially here on Nairaland, has betrayed their deficient knowledge of the difference between rerun and runoff elections. That’s why I considered it necessary to make the clarification between what the two provisions mean.
What is a Rerun Election?
Rerun election means to conduct the election all over again. It means the first one was invalid and a new one should be done that should cure whatever anomaly observed in the first one.
In a rerun election, all political parties and candidates who participate in the first are allowed to contest again except any candidate disqualified by the tribunal.
Take note that this is what Atiku and Peter Obi are asking of the Tribunal in the event that neither of them is declared outright winner of the polls. They also seek the disqualification of Tinubu which would make it impossible for him to take part in a possible rerun.
What is a Runoff Election?
Straight to the point, a runoff election is conducted between two candidates. This is usually done when no candidate satisfies all the requirements necessary to be declared the outright winner after the first ballot.
According to Nigerian Constitution, when it comes to the presidential election, a runoff election should be declared between the candidate with highest number of votes cast (simple majority) but failed to get the spread, and the candidate that won the most state.
To bring the above into perspective, supposing there was to be a runoff election after the Presidential election in February, it would have been between Tinubu (who won simple majority) and either of Obi or Atiku (it would have problematic because they both won 12 states each. But I think the constitution made further provision in case of such scenario).
Now, take note that none of the petitioners are asking the Tribunal for a runoff election. This is because the Tribunal has no power to order a runoff election. What the Tribunal can do is to either return a new winner or invalidate the entire election and order a rerun with all candidates participating; except anyone is disqualified.
Only INEC has the power to determine or call for a runoff election, not the courts.
So, I hope this cures the ignorance of the people who have held erroneous understanding of what rerun means, with some going to the extent of suggesting the two candidates that would make the rerun.
Nlfpmod Mynd44
I think this might be helpful to educate a lot of people who don’t understand the differences between these two concepts. Nicely explained but one question: If, for example, the tribunal rules that 25% is required in FCT but dismisses all other prayers won’t they in effect be calling for a runoff? |

grandstar: This is what Peter Obi's followers fail to realize!
They think rigging won him the election.
What eventually clinched him victory was the Muslim Muslim ticket. Had he chosen a Northern Christian, he'd be braying like Peter Obi today.
His victory wasn't even spectacular. He simply had the best spread amongst the candidates. I supported Obi hard and post-election I realise that Tinubu could have won the election anyway (likely on a second ballot) without rigging. Not sure why he himself wasn’t confident in his abilities to do so lol But where is Kwankwaso? Kwankwaso is the man best positioned to lead a united opposition against Tinubu in 2027 if he doesn’t perform. Kwankwaso wasn’t mentioned in the OP yet the person praising Tinubu as a genius inserted his name there. Is there some other inside information you guys have? Not attacking just curious lol EDIT: Okay looks like rumours are afloat that Kwankwaso is indeed on the list. Hadn’t seen that |

jmoore: I have always said that government can run a business very well. But some Nigerians have been deceived by most of their leaders that government can't run a business. The real truth why government in Nigeria cannot run a business is because of massive corruption. It is this corruption that makes them not to provide good healthcare, security, etc for their citizens. A government that can't run a business will also fail in governance. Saudi Arabia has shown that a government can run a business. Majority of refineries in Saudi are owned by the government. Some will tell you that it is not a capitalist country. What they don't know is that in a capitalist country like USA, the largest refinery is Motiva refinery in Texas. Guess who owns it? Saudi Arabia government owns it. It’s not just Nigeria though. Even in the UK and USA, the government is usually inefficient at running things compared to private companies |

WorldRichest: 2027 settled. Tinubu na bastard politician. Tinubu does not like El-Rufai, Kwankwaso or Wike, but he will make them Ministers for the sake of 2027 elections, and in case any mad judiciary orders a rerun. With the above three in Tinubu's camp, is there any need for 2027 Presidential election or another rerun now? The result is already on our table.
If we do not study this man in our educational institution curriculum before he joins our ancestors, we will regret it decades and centuries later.

Like Peter Obi, Falz knows that the pain being felt now was directly caused by APC's incompetent President Buhari with his economic illiterate policies.
Anyone following closely realises that this pain was bound to come. PMB left us in a hellhole and it was going to hurt bad pulling us out of it. Maybe it didn't have to hit this fast or this harsh but it was coming.
Ultimately, ending fuel subsidy is good and unifying the naira rate is needed. Let those that supported Buhari and his policies of national poverty go and protest ❤️ |

Politics › Re: "IMF is Evil, Obi is a Mole, PBAT under pressure" -Farooq's Cognitive Dissonance by wegevv(op): 10:38pm On Jul 26, 2023 |
BoldBrainz: First off, Tinubu has no clear-cut political ideology that can be considered dynamic enough to be categorised as being a socialist or a capitalist. He's just a man who is result oriented and can "hang a neck" while in the pursuit of loyalty. These are more likely traits you pick up in the course of dealing in a lifestyle such as he had while in the Chicago trade world.
If you read Mario Puzo's "The Godfather", you'll better relate to Tinubu's personality than studying him politically. He only imbibes the concepts of capitalism and socialism when they best suit his narrative and perceived style of "societal dominance", which is almost always mistaken for governance.
Secondly, what support he got from the North was again, a resultant offspring of the loyalty he showed to their son in 2015, channelling his resources and wherewithal to help enthrone Buhari despite his previous failed attempts at the Presidency. That was primarily why Northern governors felt the compulsion to put a united foot down in drumming his endorsement to the Northern powers that be, because Tinubu had a debt hanging over their heads. He was there for Buhari, it was time the North returned the favour. The man as earlier stated, has an in-depth grasp of the concept of loyalty. And the North hardly breaks a promise or ignores a debt owed. The religion aspect was just a spicing on the recipe. I still feel you're criticising his character more than his ideology but you make a fair point in that you need a certain level of uprightness to be able to stick to any ideology. If you're right then we shouldn't be surprised to see him go back on these policies especially out of loyalty to his northern cabal. Maybe that is what forced 8k palliatives. And to your second point, I can't really argue with it. It certainly feels that way when you listen to what El Rufai etc said before and after the election. These people felt they owed it to Tinubu. And if BAT doesn't care an iota about ideology then it would make sense why they are in alliance but removing subsidy and allowing the markets dictate the naira rate at the same time certainly points to capitalists leanings. It will be interesting to see how this plays out in the coming months and years |
