He was slim , dark in complexion, bald headed and a goatee with a personal style screaming I'm a Lagos boy , the Igbo dude was broad, light, tall and very macho ! with his cassava buldging from his brown chinos
So we were at a child dedication in Houston, to cut the long story short a tribal war began !
One thing I've noticed as a Yoruba person is that Igbo people are extremely kind with a warm heart but I think they have low tolerance to certain humour.
So the Yoruba dude has had a few drinks and started calling some Igbo people Biafra. We were all just looking at him except for one guy who told him to stop that nonsense.
Yoruba Guy: Who's talking nonsense ? Guy respect yourself
Igbo Guy: Call one more person Biafra here and see wetin go happen now
Yoruba Guy: My Guy relax na joke these are my guys we work for same place, na private joke.
Igbo Guy: I don't care, Say Biafra one more time we will take it outside (Face frowned & Eyes have turned red)
Yoruba Guy: Biafra, Biafra Biafra! Whoever wan relocate to Biafra make them go oo , shoo . (Yoruba people laughed lol)
Igbo Guy: (Bent down like say he wants to komole but grabbed a bottle & broke it waving it at Ade's face ranting viciously)
And so the fight started ! Meanwhile, I overheard some Igbo guys whispering Chisom go kill that guy , as I heared that I felt pity for my tribesman lol I dint know when I fled to the toilet area to call the police as they are always in town. By the time I got back to the fight scene it had turned bloody & now a group fight ! Blood everywhere, men holding their faces with blood gushing down their cheeks, kids screaming etc
It was a total chaos
As I looked up I saw Chisom held the head of Ade and used his own head to knock Ade's head ! Ade just collapsed on the floor like a log of wood, he had fainted but the fight continued!!!.
The police arrived and restored order thankfully.
Everybody was terrified, then some Igbo women and Yoruba women had started arguing too in one corner like they want to beat themselves :/
This was when I knew that we have a deep tribal problem as Nigerians !
Will we ever resolve this issue ? Only God knows.
