The Chairman of Yobe state committee on special empowerment programme, Engr. Kati Machina has said that, government of Yobe state spent well over N2, 365,920,000 as payment of allowances for beneficiaries of the special empowerment programme in the state, covering the period between November, 2012 and October, 2014.

Kati was addressing a gathering in Damaturu, the Yobe state capital during the occasion of the presentation of Yobe state merit and productivity awards and conferment on the Yobe state governor, the title of Garkuwan Matasa by beneficiaries of special empowerment programme on Thursday in Damaturu, the Yobe state capital.

The chairman said, the far reaching impact of the programme has not only improved the living standards of the beneficiaries, but also contributed in curtailing youth restiveness in the state.

He said, the occasion marked the maiden edition of the conferment of Yobe state merit and productivity awards to deserving elder statesmen, retired and serving civil servants, individuals and Organisations drawn from different trade groups taking place in the state.

“A function like this has always received the full support of the citizens and this is demonstrated by the presence in our midst of calibre of people from all segments of our society. The people are aware that, two years ago, governor Geidam approved the formation and appointment of a high powered committee on special empowerment programme under the chairmanship of Alhaji Abubakar Lawan Yunusari.

” This committee was given terms of reference to advise government on how best to engage the services of Diploma Holders in the state, determining those that require special skill acquisition for self employment, resettlement tools and financial support among others.” He said.

Kati also stated that when the committee swung into action, it made some appreciable progress in discharging its assignment. According to him, the then chairman was appointed chairman of the state House of Assemble Service Commission and the leadership of the committee was vested on him.

He said, from the inception of the programme to date, the state government had created job opportunities for 6,575 beneficiaries. ” out of this number, 3,424 were given short term induction course by the National Teachers Institute, and being conversant with the methodology of etching ,they are engaged to teach in Primary and Junior secondary schools across the state,” he said.

Few days ago, it was speculated that top Ghanaian actress, Juliet Ibrahim wore fake hip pads to the 4syte Music Video Awards, which held on Friday, November 14, 2014, at the Accra International Conference Centre in Ghana.

Kim and family travelled to Thailand earlier this year on vacation, when she met a 13 year old orphan who she bonded with. Kim felt the connection between she and the girl and she was looking forward to adopt the girl. The girl gave Kim a bracelet as a gift.

After trying her best to adopt the kid, unfortunately, the girl said No.

Kim talked about it on her reality show, she said:

‘When you meet someone that you really connect to like this, you can’t help but think like how you could change their life. And I think that looking into adoption would be amazing.I literally cannot stop thinking about her. I told Kanye, I was like, honestly, this girl is so sweet and so cute, like, I would honestly adopt her.’

Kim claimed that the reason why she was unable to adpot the kid was due to Thailand strict laws.

Kim got busted! According to Mailonline, it’s been learnt that the girl called Pink actually said NO.

‘When I found out she wanted to adopt me, I was shaking. I was so excited. It would be such a change of life for me. When she came here, it seemed as if I was the first one she looked at and smiled at. We had a connection straight away. I think she is really pretty and she has a very nice personality.’

Pink’s mum who gave her up to orphange because she was unable to take care of the kid said:

‘I was very proud when I heard that this famous lady wanted to adopt Pink but at the same time I didn’t want her to go away with the Kardashian family. She is only young and I would miss her very much,’

Pink makes an exhausting 100-mile round journey by bus every day with two other girls to attend the province’s top government school after the three of them passing a demanding entrance exam. She gets up at 5am and returns home at around 6 pm.

civil war is ranked 5th.

A new global study by the London-based Institute for Economics and Peace has ranked Nigeria fourth on the Global Terrorism Index (GTI) for 2013, primarily arising from terrorist attacks carried out by
Boko Haram in northern Nigeria.
Nigeria is ranked below Iraq with 2,492 attacks that killed more than 6,300 people, Afghanistan and Pakistan, which ranked first, second and third, respectively, while
Syria, now driven by a devastating civil war, is ranked fifth.

The institute, in the report released on Tuesday, said the number of people killed in terror attacks worldwide jumped more than
60 per cent last year to a record high of nearly 18,000 and the figure could rise further in 2014 due to an escalation of conflict in the Middle East and Nigeria.
Over 80 per cent of the lives lost to terrorist activities occurred only in five countries – Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nigeria and Syria – in 2013, the report added.

Four Islamist groups operating in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Nigeria were responsible for two thirds of the 2013 attacks and the vast majority of the deaths
occurred in those countries, the report said. There were 303 terrorism incidents catalogued for Nigeria, with 1,826 fatalities and 457 injuries, figures bound to be eclipsed
judging by the ferocity of 2014 attacks by Boko Haram. The cost of the insurgency to the national economy was estimated at $28.48 billion, with Nigeria also ranked 151 out of 162 nations in the Global Peace Index.
