Did you just say they got gej out of the way to kill the report?
My question is; was there a clear path to implementing the report by gej if he was voted in?
Yes...some are mere policy formation that can be vetoed by him...some require national assembly attention inform of bills and lastly some are for real constitutional reform. All the reports were grouped under these three...Presidential implementation committee sorted these out...Before he vowed to implement same judiciously... These are facts bro...

That is the problem of the south (SW, SE and SS). They see themselves as being different in their quest for political power at the centre. This is the reason why the whole of the 18 southern states don't have a governors' forum. The north which more ethnic groups and religious diversification drop their differences to wrestle power.
If only you understood the meaning and implication of what you wrote above, you won't have questioned this article...We become too partisan that we end up being smart only by half...

Yes...APGA adopted PDP candidate at presidency but outside that it's real politics and fight back home for other posts...And under Obj, it was hell for Anambra state thank God for a Peter Obi then under APGA...though Obj still made it somewhat unbearable for him...

Same way nobody will ever be President without permission from the South. It's a two way thing so stop playing the victim card.
I wish this was true but not at all...they only need the little spread of 25% in less than 5states from all southern states...It's really pathetic and painful to see oneself playing second fiddle in one's country...

@Whynotthetruth, this is a beautiful, thought-provoking masterpiece you got up there. Ab initio, there was a Southern Nigeria and Northern Nigeria. The Colonialists saw the coming disintegration from Northern Nigeria especially the likely rebellion from Northern minority and as well saw the strong cohesion from Southern Nigeria and something needed to be done. Hence, the story of how Nigeria became an artificial creation of the British by perpetualy creating the Northern Hegemony over us all.

Well...Did Rochas really loot his state dry or these are just some accusations borne out of sentiments? I would want citizens at this moment hold on to the anti-corruption crusade of GMB and ask for an all encompassing probe of everyone who have been in government recently. If Rochas or anyone is found guilty they should be punished accordingly and our monies retrieved. It is something that can be done, it just needs the voice of everyone and not all this ethnic jingo going on here and there. Question is if Goodluck won this elections will we still be asking for all these? It all looks like subtle escape and amnesty for all those who just looted the country dry.
Imo state notwithstanding it's an oil producing state has been banned by CBN from further borrowing because they aren't credit worthy again.... Compare them to their neighbors Anambra that has more development projects with no single debt at all and yet not an oil producing state....Nobody will hold him accountable because he's APC hence ordained saint and his atrocities swept under carpet...

WaffenSS:
Nigeria is geopolitically divided as it fits the narrative of the moment. Sometimes there's just north vs south, sometimes its north, south, and east, and so on.

The military dictators of whom you gripe about have only 3 from the socalled core north. The rest were from the north central (or middle belt, when convenient).

Our political history has always laid the failures of political leadership on the heads of the military rulers, so when democracy came about in 1999 we thought that finally we've got the chance to make things right.

Its 2015 now, and we've been running a democracy for16 years. In those 16 years, the south has ruled for 14years.

14 years is more than enough time to put so many things right.

So the failure of this democracy, these wasted 14 years, these endless series of social, economic, and political problems are rooted in southern misrule.

The perennial whipping boy, the "aboki", should not be held responsible for your perceived woes.

Its now up to you to convince us how GEJ was a blessing to the south (or ss/se, as is the trend now) beyond the morsels of federal appointments you find so insulting.
Yes...South has ruled but like the original post stated, Obj was more of an offshoot of the oligarchs... if you know how they have to set aside all rules to get him to become the flag bearer as against Ekwueme who would have won in that Joe convention... Obj was part of them and cares less about masses insofar he's need and order are met...

He should have left it open in my opinion. He bungled it, let the people speak and decide. Is that not what many of you want and lots have died for? He chose to be a nice guy, after all he's already rich and he doesn't need a republic to become richer. Like someone said here earlier all this talk of restructuring and federalism would have been uncalled for if we had sincere leaders who managed all we are given to develop our region. Our problems are useless leaders. Even if they give us 100% greedy leaders will still corner all and what we will have are richer strong people while the masses will continue to suffer.
I get your point succinctly but fiscal federalism abi regionalism is a more germane way of making the centre less attractive... promoting healthy competition between regions...engaging in comparative advantage biz...and looting will be minimal as your kinsmen won't allow their region go down as nobody will be there to liberate them...like Rochas asking buhari for bailout after looting his state dry...I would rather steal outside and run home than vice versa

Gbawe:
What truth? The "truth" the OP was somehow prevented from telling to GEJ in the five years he was President? Real men who are honorable, brave and upright make decision they live and die by. This is a democracy. Some voted for GEJ and others voted for Buhari. Why can those who voted GEJ not simply accept the loss, wish Nigeria well under Buhari and move on as many of us did in 2011 even when we did not support GEJ who won back then?

Why has this loss of GEJ now suddenly reminded some of "true fiscal federalism" and the need to "regionalize" Nigeria? Sensible Nairalanders should not remain here indulging this dishonest, deceitful and hypocritical crybaby OP and others like him. I personally admire stand-up guys who throw blows and take blows. You bragged before the elections and have now lost. Why not show civility by at least giving Buhari time to show what he can do before the deceitful antics of are rolled out redolent of the behavior of sour losers? Have they given Buhari a chance to lead before they begin talking of "injustice"?

The forum, below, can see the same OP strutting arrogantly in defence of GEJ before the election. The GEJ he is defending below and asking Nigerians to retain in power has never acted as if he is interested in "true fiscal federalism" or the idea of "regionalizing" Nigeria. If anything, GEJ was the poster child of central profligacy/patronage/largesse at the expense of devolving power to other tiers of the federation. Jonathan lived for bloated and wastful central governance with power, wealth and might inordinately concentrated in the centre to the detriment of other tiers of our federation like States. If any of these GEJ supporters were honorable, they would spare us this post-election revisionism which is not only patronising but highly deceitful and amoral. For the sake of brevity, and because I trust well-informed Nairalanders will know what I mean, this Op is the biggest hypocrite on Nairaland because the same GEJ he wanted to carry on leading Nigeria did exactly the opposite of what will deliver all that the OP is now deceitfully claiming he wants for Nigeria.

The essence of 'outing' this hypocrite is that Nairalanders need to know that there exist a category of educated yet hateful and ethnocentric Nigerians who conveniently and deliberately see no evil while their own is in charge. They even hankered passionately for the ultra-corrupt and totally inept GEJ to remain President, never mind he was only succeeding at turning Nigeria into Somalia fast. They never put all these demands before GEJ in 5 years yet they suddenly remember the 'injustice' of Nigeria now that GEJ has been voted out.

They then patronisingly think they can hide behind the usual rhetoric of "true fiscal federalism" and "regionalism" when it is obvious to intelligent folks that these dishonorable posters are merely bitter losers who had no problem with all that GEJ stood for yesterday even when that is the opposite of what they claim to want today. Yeye, and hypocrisy, dey smell. The OP asks below what GEJ is not addressing. Yet we know, in five years as President, that GEJ certainly did not address all he demands here. Nonetheless he supported GEJ unquestioningly. This reveals that the likes of the OP, despite their pretensions to erudition, are nothing but clannish element perpetually devoted to their ethnic affiliation than to developmental political ideology.

1)I read your thesis with joy. so I won't indulge you in insults like you did to me on your post.

2)I stand by my words on buhari and Jonathan.

3)Fight for fiscal federalism was rife under Jonathan even by Tinubu. But when Jonathan listened like he always does through Confab, Tinubu and APC backed out because they were insincere about this drive before now.

4)Confab against northern agitation achieved quasi restructuring. Whose implementation Jonathan vowed to ensure. Part of reason why he's wanted out.

5)I saw your post lamenting how unwise SE/SS are for not supporting SW speakership drive for vengeance. How much support are you giving to SE/SS for regionalism?...

6)You need to know when to drop cloak partisanship...

Why did Jonathan, a prominent son of the south, the president of the federal republic of Nigeria convene a national conference and gave an irrevocable standing order not to touch the very questions which his people have been fighting and died for?
Nothing was sacrosanct there except self determination as espoused by indivisibility of Nigeria...Restructuring wasn't cancelled out but was fought vehemently by North... though some quasi-restructuring was finally agreed...
