The FRCN lacks statutory powers to carry out any investigation! It's the same way they went ahead to levy Eko Hotel before they were taken to court. If GEJ had evidence of financial impropriety against Sanusi, why didn't he use EFCC? I'm struggling hard not to call you and the OP idiots.

The Financial Reporting Council (FRC) of Nigeria is a federal government agency established by the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria Act, No. 6, 2011. It is a federal government Parastatal under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment.

The FRC is responsible for, among other things, developing and publishing accounting and financial reporting standards to be observed in the preparation of financial statements of public entities in Nigeria; and for related matters.

The Council’s main objects, as defined in the FRC Act, are to:

protect investors and other stakeholders interest
give guidance on issues relating to financial reporting and corporate governance to professional, institutional and regulatory bodies in Nigeria
ensure good corporate governance practices in the public and private sectors of the Nigerian economy
ensure accuracy and reliability of financial reports and corporate disclosures, pursuant to the various laws and regulations currently in existence in Nigeria
harmonise activities of relevant professional and regulatory bodies as relating to corporate governance and financial reporting.
promote the highest standards among auditors and other professionals engaged in the financial reporting process.
enhance the credibility of financial reporting; and
improve the quality of accountancy and audit services, actuarial, valuation and corporate governance standards.
Let me show you how you're the bigger foooool and idioooot here...

Is efcc not a federal agency too?...ollodo

I sought to see where all you were listing as their duties will state that they have no legal backing to do what they are doing...mpama like u...

Did the court injunction say that frcn didn't have legal backing rather they said its witch hunt...Now why won't subsequent probe be seen as witch hunt toohuh...onuku

That you rushed to court to stop probe. does it make you innocent?... what are you hiding?...what don't you want us to see and hear?...ewu

Why has sanusi being submitting his annual reports to frcn if you think they have no legal backing...anumanu

Reply me with insults again and I will let you see that I won't "struggle" to insult you more...afoanu like u

If you have paid attention to some of my posts on these boards, you would find several that highlight some of Sanusi's failings.
Blind solidarity is not my thing, so I never shriek from exposing unseemly conduct where this can be proved.

@OP on the other hand is someone who does not understand that principles are indivisible - my point cheesy
You cannot divide your principles by half or a quarter, on the basis of some spurious logic - "Superior information modifies ones conviction and shape position".

Pray tell what superior information he has presented here, which has not been previously debated on these same pages...
I don't actually get your point at all...because in all you never answered my question...
I don't know you and I am not here to make friends par say but to rob minds on cogent issues...I am not here to discuss persons either...

“Sanusi submitting himself to the probe panel by FRCN over allegation of financial recklessness will be like a cockroach finding itsself in the midst of fowls,” he said.
I just laugh at the partisanship of most of us which beclouds sense of reasoning...NNPC would be probed too and people would be indicted but be sure that such court injunctions would arise...Nothing would happen...Nobody gets punished...everybody goes home to enjoy their loot...Believe me, since this is what citizens desire, see how these guys will keep procuring the services of smart and intelligent lawyers....Nigerians are simply smart by half.....What makes you think buhari probe isn't about same reason?...lawyers will use this case as exhibit in court to prosecute their case against government...yes, they would tell same stories of witchhunt by government and court will grant their plea...let's watch how it plays out....this is democracy not military...

Are you saying that it is wrong for GMB to want to follow through on the PWC report (and similar ones) which was commissioned by GEJ himself?
Not at all bro...I want him to probe NNPC and all her subsidiaries as well as force PIB passage as this will reduce legal leap holes and avenues of leakage and looting...

I also want him to not single out NNPC because more looting is on through CBN of which Sanusi stopped its investigation... How can CBN alone report payment of over 38billion to printing and minting company while the general turnover of the company from business with all their clients including CBN is about 29billionhuh...And we are not bordered...Is shagari/ekwueme saga about to start again?... who knows who's next?...maybe you who's encouraging it and laughing today....selective justice should be fought...all animals must be equal...no Napoleon here plzzzz

Your action abuse of executive power, court tells FG

BY LUKMAN OLABIYI A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, yesterday affirmed the claim of the suspended Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Sanusi Lamido Sanusi that the planned investigation by the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN) is to execute a witch-hunt against him.

Ruling in a fundamental rights enforcement suit filed by Sanusi against his planned probe by FRCN, Justice John Tsoho said the FRCN’s action was in bad faith, besides being an abuse of executive power.

“Sanusi submitting himself to the probe panel by FRCN over allegation of financial recklessness will be like a cockroach finding itsself in the midst of fowls,” he said.

The court therefore restrained FRCN from investigating the plaintiff and also granted all the reliefs sought by Sanusi.

In the suit, the suspended former CBN governor alleged that apart from the fact that the principle of fair hearing was ignored in the planned investigation by FRCN, he had been nailed already even before the commencement of the investigation against him.

Sanusi denied the allegation in the briefing note to President Goodluck Jonathan by the FRCN that he supervised the writing off of a N40 billion debt owed the defunct Intercontinental Bank by former Kwara State governor, Bukola Saraki.

Saraki, now a senator, had allegedly secured the loan from Intercontinental Bank through his company, Joy Petroleum Limited.

The loan was said to have been written off during the tenure of Lai Alabi as managing director of Intercontinental Bank.

Alabi was appointed as the helmsman of the bank by Sanusi after he sacked its former managing director, Erastus Akingbola.

Sanusi also denied that he did not follow due process in writing off another N3.8 billion loan in favour of Heritage Bank, successor to the defunct Societie Generale Bank of Nigeria (SGBN), a bank that had strong link with the Saraki family.

Rather, Sanusi said it was the CBN board that approved the write-off of the loan as forbearance to Heritage Bank on December 17, 2010, as part of the process of facilitating the resumption of the bank as a regional bank.

Sanusi’s lawyer, Kola Awodein (SAN), argued during the trial that the FRCN lacked the powers to look into the books of CBN under Sanusi, as the investigation was against the principles of natural justice.

Awodein said: “The FRCN and the executive secretary who are to conduct the investigation have already shown that they have decided the issues by the statements they made about Sanusi being financially reckless. For instance, my lord, the FRCN executive secretary, in the concluding part of the briefing note to the president said and I quote: ‘It is important for Mr. President to take action fast before Sanusi resigns to foreclose investigation, and also so that the opposition will not accuse the president of allowing such financial recklessness to be perpetrated by the CBN governor under his watch.”

However, the FRCN counsel, Adesegun Ajibola (SAN), while responding to Sanusi’s allegations, urged the court to discountenance the allegations raised by Sanusi.

He said the court was not an administrative tribunal, and that the allegations ought to have been raised as Sanusi’s defence during the FRCN probe.

http://sunnewsonline.com/new/?p=63254
This court injunction means corruption can NEVER stop in Nigeria...because any corrupt official will go all out to obtain such court injunction to stop the course of justice... Do we really want good governance and end to corruption or we just want an end to people we hate for reasons known to us alonehuh?

Resisted by who?? By you?? Please you're nothing but a joker.

I hate when people try to justify what people have done by saying "oh they're not the only thieves" Is money from NNPC missing or not?? Is there evidence of misappropriation of funds from NNPC or not?? Answer those questions first. As they have shown thieves have been ruling us, you guys too should also expose other thieves, nothing wrong with that.

This idea that because they're not the only ones stealing means we should all keep quiet is very stupid and dangerous. Please any evidence against Sanusi should be presented to us in form of an audit as well. Let them probe his tenure as governor. Let your voices be loud, do not rest until you achieve it. You saying we should overlook NNPC because the whistleblower too is a thief is very senseless

P.S.

Reading your defense again on why thieves shouldn't be called thieves because there are other thieves, you mentioned a federal high court dismissed Sanusi's case, keyword FEDERAL. Writing Osinbajo's name in bold doesn't stop it from being a federal court, this is at a time Osinbajo didn't have any federal powers. Technically he still doesn't as I write have any federal powers.
Let me take you on bro because you portend a great danger to human race with this mindset of yours...

1)Unless you lack comprehension, barcanista called for comprehensive approach to probe not selective probe as buhari did in 1984...Why is solely obsessed with NNPC with Sanusi while ignoring subversion of justice for Nigeria by also exhuming the case of Sanusi?...or he just wants to get at those who sanctioned Sanusi?...Probe all and let all the offenders rot in jail...don't be selective...

2)Yes money is missing both in NNPC and CBN. probe all of them and let them rot in jail. NNPC is led by southerners while CBN is led by northerners. Don't pick one. Pick all...That's equity and justice... remember Shagari/Ekwueme saga....is this a repeathuh

3)Evidence is there against Sanusi but he ran to court to stop probe and investigation. But he wants others probed but not himself....where's justice and equity?...

4)Osibanjo helped to subvert the course of justice here. Yes, once you have money to procure smart and intelligent lawyers. They will let you off the worst of crime and trash out all evidence against you. That's what Sanusi used Osibanjo and co to achieve. How can Osibanjo have the moral probity to tell us to fight corruption when he uses his intelligence to subvert justice against corrupt officials.

Maybe when this selective Justice is used against you personally then you will appreciate this call today....thanks

BEFORE THE SPIRIT OF ORUBEBE DIES...

Any close observer of the polity post-election would have seen more the actual reason for "get Jonathan out of the way election". From the comments of Danjuma, to the rants of Junaid Mohammed, Shamshudeen to that of Sen. Dansadau etc and people will still come here to tell me about how Jonathan was voted out due to non-performance. Since when did we become so averse to non-performing leaders of which Jonathan doesn't fit the list.

Nzeogwu & co believed due to post election crisis in SW, that they can rescue ONE Nigeria, but they plunged the eastern part into paying 'debts' unending.

Ironsi believed in ONE Nigeria, and his blood was used to wash the streets.

Isaac Boro screamed and cried for same injustice but was muscled out.

Saro Wiwa came to the stage but his blood was used to entertain the oligarchs.

Ojukwu decided to challenge the anomaly engendered by barefaced rape of our sanctity to life and association but was confronted with more blood on our streets and made a fugitive in his supposed fatherland.

Yes, subsequently we were subjected to the background after the gift of 20pounds as punishment for "no victor; no vanquished". Some of our people were used as baits to whittle down the genuine demands and general wellbeing of majority by giving them crumbs called political appointments. While NigerDelta were brainwashed through series of well oiled propaganda to see the Igbos as their enemies and root cause of their problem. While the alien term SS came into being to highlight the divide always.

SouthWest were made heroes of their fellow southern brothers woes; but unfortunately were eaten by same tiger they fed. Awolowo was stampeded even to death. And Abiola who had national appeal was not allowed to be. Finally, he became a story and a sentence in the past amidst laughter from the lords of Nigeria.

Obasanjo thrived with the hides and shadow of late Shehu Yar'adua. He is cat with nine lives. He had his bread buttered by the gods but choose to dine with devil and became lord of demons. Blood of the innocent especially from the creeks cries around him for vengeance.

And now, came Jonathan not an Igbo but from a background feeling the pangs of pain and marginalization like Igbo. He gave so much to pacify these internal colonialists and oligarchs at the expense of developing his region but was rejected, framed as corrupt notwithstanding the reputable; "Transparency International" verdict vindicating him. He was humiliated out of office.

In all, Jonathan didn't just lose. We lost too. It may not be easy to see any Southerner(easterner) rise to that post in the near future without some radical breakthrough. Forget the noise and empty rhetorics of people like Rochas Okorocha and co. Boys talk; men act.

North by the smart machinery instituted by Prof. Attahiru Jega would always determine and decide who rules Nigeria notwithstanding the voting pattern down South. Irrespective of South's discontent with government in power; unless North decide otherwise the government MUST persist.

What slavery is more than this?...Read the dailies and cry for the future because these people we term "aboki" ruled my grandfather, my father and now myself. When will it all end with all the sycophants, "sabos", and seeming half smart people we have.

The cries and shrills of Elder Godsday Orubebe in that INEC hall echoes in my heart...

I already tried to draw his attention to this issue but he hasn't really understood. Derivation is for the development of a region, not for the citizens to use to drink snapps and wine. Royalties paid to people who oil is developed on the lands is quite different from paying a single region half of the revenue. Furthermore, in most countries practicing resource control that I know, no one group of people lay claim to a land, there is equal rights among every citizen including not being referenced as visitor in any land. He seems not to realize that this whole resource control issue is a selfish ambition of some paymasters
What's the status quo with regard to resource control in Nigeria before the discovery of oil in NDhuh

@poster, yours is ethnocentric view point, not helpful in moving Nigeria forward if you think another civil war will help your case.

Have you been to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iran, Iraq, UK, Norway, Russia, Venezuela etc., these countries produce oil but no one tribe claims any ownership. Rather, the resources are federal governments', which they use judiciously to develop their countries.

It is only in Nigeria, a country blessed with all kinds of resources, not just oil, that successive governments have let the people down by looting national treasury, including oil money, instead of developing the entire country as in those other oil-producing countries referred to above.

It is also only in Nigeria that you have this ridiculous bigotry and tribal claim to oil ownership of land that belongs to the Federal Government by virtue of the Constitution. Where this is denied, you want to split the country! How far can you go? Don't forget, each state has its own ambition to be self-governing but are you going to split the country into 33 countries? Whose right is more equal than the others?

I admit the region and in particular, the Ogoni tribe have been dealt harshly and inhumanely by late Abacha but that will be child's play under Biafra. The way forward is for Nigerians to demand better government and accountability how our resources are spent
No boss you missed it all...let me just drop something here...
1)Under Biafra most constituent states has oil regardless of volume.

2)There's no way or any Oita of evidence that it will be worse off under Biafra rather all available evidence point to increased progress and healthy competition...

3)Before the discovery of oil; Nigeria used 50% resource control for groundnut from north, cocoa from SW etc but with oil they refused 50% derivation. so who's cheating who?...who's lying here?...who's being mischievous?...

4)Do any body share in the environmental degradation and hazard of these locals?...so why deny them the gain too?...

5)Different states aren't fighting for autonomy plz...so there's no need for your 33states theory here...

6)History of Nigeria has been the story of ethnic supremacy and intimidation by the north picking up different allies as situation dictates...

7)Remember the massacre recently in Odi & Zakibiam by Obasanjo. What's these peoples crime if not their cry for justice and equity....

let's be sincere plzzzzz
