What are the massive infrastructures in surulere?

You think fashola has performed better than the other 35 governors? I think you need to leave lagos and visit other states.Visit enugu and akwa ibom, there may be others, but these are two states I have visited recently. Rate this so called performance with the revenue he collects then we can say he has perfomed or not.this is a man that collects federal allocation and he also has an internally generated revenue of more than 20billion monthly, tell me what this man has done in lagos state.someone was talking about him doing some roads in surulere, yes that is correct.he was maintaining old roads.tell me one new road he has built in lagos state from 1970 till date , apart from the lekki road which lagosians are made to pay toll for? BRT, why didnt he put a sustainable plan to maintain the BRT buses , they are more or less like molue.this is someone who refused to provide information to an ngo/cso when they sought to find out how the funds of lagos state are being managed.someone who couldn't domesticate the FOI Act, in Lagos state.u call him transparent and the best performing? Cluelessness has just been elevated to another level

People are blinded by sentiments for not knowing that anything the Nigerian Biggest Landlord - NBL acquires, they, their families, their generations, etc cannot benefit from it. These people don't give a hoot about you else they wouldn't have mortgaged Lagos state into their private purse.

OP, the truth is that of all you've listed, people in my area have not benefited from this administration. But them sabi give us bill make we pay land use charge. We pay the land use charge yet we provide our own security, build our own roads, water own na worst (since 1999), no jobs by the state except for private own coys, LASU 1000% school fees increment, etc.

The government provided amenities to serve only a selected few. Most of what he built or commissioned were around the areas where it will benefit him, NBL, and the rich. Go to Apapa, Okoko, Mushin, Aguda, Satellite Town, Ajegunle, Orile, etc, then you will weep for Lagos state condition and the gullible supporters of this poor administration.

The media has been used as a tool to influence our thoughts, judgement and way of life. Most times, when u look through comments made by people in various social platform, they tend to give an impression that Governor fashola of lagos state has performed exceedingly well.sometimes some rate him as the best governor in nigeria.lets pause for a second, and lets rate this performance.Being public officer, we should access him based on health sector, employment, infastructural development, security, provision of services.let's start with infastructural development, can anyone show me a new road that has been built in lagos state apart from the lekki/epe express road from 1970 till date? even this lekkki/epe road people are made to pay toll on this road? A road built with loan from the world bank.note this is a state that collects over 20b as internally generated revenue.lets look at water, which part of lagos still has public water running from the taps?on health, how many new health centres/hospitals are adequately equiped to take care of emergencies? A month ago, a friend was returning home from work, he was shot by armed robbers, he was rushed to the lagos government teaching hospital, they didn't have his blood typeto enable them do a ttransfusion. How can a performing governor not provide a functional blood bank in the state owned teaching hospital? This is a state that prides itself as the centre of excellence and wants to be a mega city by 2020.suffice it to say the patient died.let's look at housing, how many houses have the lagos state government built to accomodate medium and low income earners?what about employment? How many people have the lagos state government employment? If the private sector leaves lagos today, what plans does the lagos state governor under fashola have to create employment and boost the economy? Is the clearing of hoodlums at oshodi and planting of flowers on the road enough to say he has performed.if u ask me, I would tell u this, as compared to the resources he has, he didn't do anything.so the question is this, is fasholas performance not a media hype or is there something someone wants to tell us?
angelsing...kindly come and talk here...counter this poster if he's wrong...

Honestly, these countries have different reasons why they are against Nigeria.

Of the lot, the US hatred is the most visible. Honestly, they won't want a nation of potentially over 200 million people be on the opposing side with the likes of china, Russia etc in a World War III that seems more inevitable as the years run by.

What we are seeing is a pre-war staging, Africa would be very involved in this brewing war where population and size will matter.
Population and Size? Can you explain more plzzzhuh

You will never find a link as our press won't report it. What you will find in the news is Chadian troops recapturing a town called damasak.

Chadian troops tried to take the town of damasak but they were seriously beaten back by Boko haram.

As of today, the Nigerian military (God bless them abundantly) are fighting really hard to take this town which your press have reported to have been recaptured by Chadian army.

Here is a link about the ongoing NA onslaught on damasak:

Does this mean chad are liars? Are chad bokoharam as suggested by a nairalander? So the chadian incomptent army has been decieving us all along. This country has been dishing out propaganda no wonder they left to cammeron

No matter what happens our millitary will crush both boko haram and chadian forces if they are backing that evil sect.
Remember, it was the same Chad through their President that sold us a dummy about boko haram cease fire which federal government accepted but it ended up being a fluck which allowed boko haram to regroup and reequip themselves...and start decimating innocents again...

Take patriotism away, and the nation's soul has fled.
EDWARD MARK DEEMS, Holy Days and Holida

Patriotism is not endlessly bragging that out country is the best; rather it is wanting one's country to be the best that it can be and helping it to be that best, which is a very different matter. ROBERT STAM & ELLA SHOHAT, Flagging Patriotism

No patriotism is genuine that is merely partisan or provincial. WILLIAM RAINEY HARPER, The Biblical World, vol. 54

A real patriot is the fellow who gets a parking ticket and rejoices that the system works. BILL VAUGHAN, Forbes Magazine, vol. 146

Patriotism is the opposite of selfish individualism.
DAVID EHRENFELD, Becoming Good Ancestor

Patriotism is the intelligent appreciation that one's own welfare is inseparably connected with the general welfare and that to prosper personally one must intelligently do his utmost to maintain the general prosperity.
JULIUS STERLING MORTON, The Conservative , vol. 1

Patriotism is easy to understand.... It means looking out for yourself by looking out for your country. CALVIN COOLIDGE, The Price of Freedom

It was Mark Twain who opined that; “ Patriotism is supporting your country all the time and your government when it deserves it". Mark Twain

While EMMA GOLDMAN, Anarchism and Other Essays went further to say; "Patriotism assumes that our globe is divided into little spots, each one surrounded by an iron gate. Those who have had the fortune of being born on some particular spot, consider themselves better, nobler, grander, more intelligent than the living beings inhabiting any other spot. It is, therefore, the duty of everyone living on that chosen spot to fight, kill, and die in the attempt to impose his superiority upon all the others".

Actually, so many authors, patriots, and scholars have written so much treatise on the topic; PATRIOTISM. This word is so easy to scream from the roof tops especially by our politicians but so hard to practice in reality, by same group. Why is this so? The reason isn't far fetched as most politicians except for the exceptional few who are the REAL PATRIOTS, can afford to sacrifice their selfish motive for the common good of the nation and the masses. They are ready to sacrifice NOTHING for the nation even when the country is bleeding.

It was . WILLIAM H. BURNHAM, New Outlook, vol. 90, who said; "The essence of patriotism is the sacrifice of personal interest to public welfare". But this dictum isn't acceptable to our politicians in Nigeria of today, as the allure of power is just much for them to control.

"Patriotism is a lively sense of collective responsibility. Nationalism is a silly cock crowing on its own dunghill and calling for larger spurs and brighter beaks. RICHARD ALDINGTON, The Colonel's Daughter.

Unfortunately, a country like Nigeria invaded by extremists have her leaders pitched against one another throwing away call of nationalism and patriotism to her motherland. They claim to be elites who are widely travelled learning nothing except digital looting of treasury and power contest at the detriment of national development.

Patriotism is one of the unalterable facts of man's nature. It is a virtue if you like it, and a vice if you don't like it.
MAX EASTMAN, "What Shall We Do With Patriotism.

Opposition in Nigeria as represented by All Progressive Congress(APC) with her presidential candidate; Muhammad Buhari, seem to have forgotten that we need a country first, before any leader can exist to reign. Their kind of politicising and failing to support ruling government even in times of insurgency signifies unpatriotic citizens who value selfish interest to national interest. The high level hypocrisy exhibited by APC shows a group who are more interested in grabbing power than in having a safe country. To them the fight of insurgency is that of President Jonathan alone while their duty is to ridicule him and by extension the military, whenever the insurgents causes havoc and see if they can probably set the masses against him. They seem not to differentiate between constructive and destructive criticism.

Painfully they fail to admit that; "Patriotism is the admission that people who share a land, a place, and a history have a special obligation to that place and to each other". DAVID EHRENFELD, Becoming Good Ancestors.

Muhammad Buhari;APC presidential candidate; who coincidentally is a former head of state and a retired military officer, by his position has unhindered access to ruling President Jonathan privately and also, through the council of state, a forum which is an assemblage of past leaders, legislators, and jurists. But he rather preferred to keep his "magic wand" to aid in fighting and defeating the insurgency in his pocket, unless he is elected president then maybe these plans will be utilized in the fight. By his stance; curiously again one is forced to ask if there is any plan at all or just an empty boast because at one point in his campaign, he promised to invite other military officers to map out a plan to fight the insurgency if elected into power. He is yet to give any constructive plan or suggestion in the fight against boko haram. So many are the contradicting and conflicting statements he has made so far in his stance for and against boko haram that it is hard to actually place where he stands or his assured view of insurgency in Nigeria as represented by boko haram.

Suffice to say that APC and her candidate for presidency; Muhammad Buhari need to re-examine themselves and see what exactly they represent and possibly seek out ways of being more patriotic citizens. While learning that power is transient but history will always keep record of her benevolent children with their deeds against their names.
