While being frugal is good in government, a country like Nigeria with decayed or non-existent infrastructure clearly needed & needs investment, upgrade, improvement, whatever.

In criticising GEJ's money management/investment in capital projects, he should have focused on whether we got value for our money. With facts and analogies from all over the world. To condemn the investments in favour of saving is epic fail.

How can one condemn building new Fed universities when some Nigerians are paying huge tuition fees studying in Ghana, some of the schools housed in portakabins?
Or the airports that were falling apart? Or railway?

Failure to invest over 40 years is what prompted GEJ's spending.

Poverty level in Nigeria has risen from 54% to 71%, youth unemployment from 9% to 50%, recurrent expenditure from 62% to 86%, national debt from $26bn to $70bn, whilst GDP growth has dropped from 11% to 6%, and excess crude account has dropped from $20bn to $2bn, petrol has risen from 65 to 87 temporarily (97), $1 has risen from N158 to N210.Nigerians want change. We demand accountability. We want a government that is ready to fight for the masses.

Really the writer is in the manufacturing sector? a big player in the pharmaceutical industry...for you to even ask question about him means you didn't read the article because he gave examples of benefits enjoyed by manufacturers like him in that sector, which is the first of its kind since history of naija...multiplier effect of their activities will help your family in the aspects you listed above...

All those achievements were made possible by one thing....the rise in oil prices during this time.

If oil prices had been below $50 per barrel for the last five years.....none of the ''great strides'' would have happened.

And the excellent policies that yielded and are still yielding results like industrial revolution master plan, auto policy, agricultural revolution plan, local content initiative etc were because of oil boom money too
