Technology MarketTop 3 Reasons Most Power Banks Explode by Wikiforum(op): 4:35pm On May 11, 2017
Power Bank in several occasions these life savers have turned to weapons of mass destruction. Here's how a powerbank could have killed my roommate.

It was a cool evening, I just finished talking to a friend on the phone. I was conversing with my roommate outside. A few minutes later he went inside the room to get his phone before I could say Jack Robinson, I heard the sound of an explosion as he fled from our room faster than gala sellers that haven't been paid, flinging the gate open as he fled for his dear life. This happened in a matter of milliseconds or nanoseconds. I was shocked.

This was the culprit :

Power Banks

Different thoughts ran through my mind. Could there be someone in the room? Or did he see a ghost?....There was no power at the moment so it wasn't a socket sparking. Well, I'm not the superstitious kind so I ruled out the possibility of him seeing a ghost. I went outside the gate along with a couple of our lodge mates who were startled by the sound. The reason for his escapade was a powerbank that exploded in the room. He was trying to pick up his phone from the table and the powerbank which was just beside his phone just exploded in front of him. The powerbank in question just costs N1,500.

I tried to understand the different things that could have happened. He could have been injured badly on his right hand or his face would have been burnt, the former would affect him badly since we're writing our first semester exams.

Now the ultimate question is :

Why would a power bank explode all of a sudden?. I decided to make some research and here's what I could come up with.

1.) Wrong Circuit Design:

The internal circuit design of the power bank can also be another likely cause of explosion. For a power bank a good circuit should have

Power protection( a mechanism that ensures that the battery stops charging once it has reached full capacity), Short circuit control and temperature control.
If it doesn't have any of the above features, the chances of explosion is higher.

2.) Poor Battery Quality

Batteries are the most expensive parts of a powerbank. Most of the power banks found in the market are made from either Lithium-ion or Lithium-Polymer batteries, though the lithium-ion is a cheaper option.

Most Manufacturers in a bid to keep prices down tend to use Lithium- ion batteries to save costs. In the worst case scenarios, they go to the extent of using recycled batteries which increases the chances or likeliness of explosion at a later time.

3.) Improper Usage

Exposing power banks to high temperatures or humidity can cause explosions. Overcharging of power banks is wrong. Also spilling water on it or leaving it near a heated area, like under the sun can cause explosions.

Celebrities#bbnaija: Majority Of Those Criticising The Show Are Hypocrites - Bisola by Wikiforum(op): 8:41pm On May 01, 2017
Big Brother Naija 2017 1st runner up and Nigerian-British actress, Bisola Aiyeola has tagged many of those criticizing the show as 'hypocrites'. It can be recalled that while the show was still on, many Nigerians called on NBC to stop the show which according to them was extolling immorality, some filed court cases just to see that the controversial show was halted.

But the mother of one has reacted to the criticisms during a radio interview on SoundCity FM, insinuating that even religious shows get criticised.

#BBNaija: Majority of those criticising the show are hypocrites - Bisola

“A lot of people are hypocrites. Even if Big Brother Naija was not on the air, It wouldn’t change the fact that people still do terrible things in the world,” she said.
“It would not change anything.

“Big Brother taught me a lot. It made me a stronger person. “People who didn’t even watch the show had their own perception of it. You cannot please everybody because even religious shows get criticised.”

Celebrities7 Celebrities Davido Helped To Become Rich & Famous by Wikiforum(op): 10:03am On Mar 28, 2017
Davido might not be a legend yet in Nigerian music but his achievement can’t be overstated.
The 24 year old in a very short time in the music business has been able to put many Nigerian music stars on the map.
Most of those he put on the map have gone on to be megastars of their own and some of them are even his rivals today. Let’s take a look at the 7 music stars Davido brought to limelight!
1. Runtown

Runtown gathered airplay when he released Party Like 1980 but his big break didn’t come until he got a verse from Davido.
The HKN chief laced Runtown’s biggest hit, Gallardo with one of his best verses and the Eric Many artiste has gone on to become a star of his own.
2. Lil Kesh

Olamide signed Lil Kesh, but the man that put him on our playlist is Davido.
Davido remixed Shoki at his peak and his verse is the best on the song. Davido didn’t stop there!
He rooted for Lil Kesh at several award shows, gives him shout out on his social media pages and more.
3. Tekno

Before Tekno got signed to Triple MG, before Duro, before Wash there was Holiday which featured Davido.
Tekno managed to get the attention of people like me with Holiday and made it to big radio stations and more.
Davido deserves all the pride he has right now!
4. Burna Boy

Before Burna Boy became a household name, he featured Davido on a song tagged Trumpet.
Trumpet was the most successful song on Burna Boy’s mixtape Burn Identity 2.
Following the success of Trumpet, Burna Boy went on to release Like To Party and he has been dishing out Hits upon hits ever since.
5. Diamond Platnumz

Tanzanian music powerhouse Diamond Platnumz was popular in his home country but not in Africa. His superstar status came after Davido remixed his hit single Number One.
Diamond got so big he became Davido’s rival.
The relationship of the two right now is unknown but they had a major beef in 2015
6. MC Galaxy

Don’t lie, do you know MC Galaxy before Nek Unek? The answer is probably NO.
Davido managed to get MC Galaxy his first career hit with Nek Unek and ever since their relationship has been a moody type.
Davido reportedly beat up MC Galaxy at a studio last year. May your role models become your rivals. Amen?
7. Humblesmith

Humblesmith is the latest entry to the list.
Humblesmith was relatively unknown to most until he got the blessing of DMW’s boss, Davido.
Davido got downloads and streams for Humblesmith by addressing his baby mama drama on Osinachi remix. Something he could have done on his own song.
Aftermath of Osinachi Remix featuring Davido, Humblesmith has since proved to us that he’s here to say by giving us hits upon hits.
All hail king Davido!

CrimeWife Of Former President Files Suit In Lagos Court To Stop Son’s Wedding by Wikiforum(op): 7:34am On Mar 28, 2017
Mrs Taiwo Obasanjo, wife of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, on Monday filed a suit at an Ikeja High Court, seeking to stop the wedding of her son, Olujonwo Obasanjo, scheduled for May 11.

Wife of former President Files Suit In Lagos Court To Stop Son’s Wedding

Ex-President Obasanjo and the father of the bride, Sir Kessington Adebutu, promoter of Premier Lotto known as “Baba Ijebu” are respondents to the suit.

Mrs Obasanjo, who is the twin sister of Chief Kenny Martins, the former Coordinator of the Police Equipment Fund, is seeking a postponement of the wedding of her son, Olujonwo to Tope Adebutu scheduled for May 11 and May 12.

She wants the wedding to be fixed for a date after June 1.

Olujonwo and Tope had an elaborate introduction on Dec. 17, 2016 with the social media awash with photographs of the event.

Obasanjo, among others, is seeking a court declaration that as the mother of the groom, she had the rights to take part in the deliberations, decisions and activities leading to the forthcoming ceremony.

According to her, wedding invitations have been sent out and she has been excluded from the preparations for the ceremonies.

She said she also received prophesies and warnings from men of God to the effect that Olujonwo, her son who turns 34 on June 1, should not do or be involved in any elaborate celebration before his birthday.

The woman wants the court to compel Adebutu and Obasanjo to shift the wedding to a date after June 1 after she had appealed to Adebutu and Mrs Rosemary Dacosta, the mother of the bride, Tope Adebutu, the bride-to-be as well as Chief Kenny Martins.

Justice Lateefa Okunnu has fixed April 10 for hearing of the suit no. ID/262FPM/2017.

PoliticsFalana Says Nigeria Police Only Parades Poor Suspects, Not Rich Thieves by Wikiforum(op): 7:22am On Mar 28, 2017
Lawyer and human rights activist, Femi Falana has hit the Nigeria Police for always rushing to parade poor men without finding them guilty of any offence.

Human right lawyer Falana Says Nigeria Police only parades poor suspects, not rich thieves

He said the same police would give rich men cover once they went against the law.

Falana, who was reacting to the recent arrest of 20 persons in connection with the Ile-Ife clash and the clampdown on members of the Peace Corps of Nigeria, said, they should sue the federal government for damages.

The lawyer in a statement Sunday evening said the media parade of the suspects by the police infringed their fundamental rights, and that it also violated the principle of presumption of innocence until proved guilty.

He also warned the attorney-general of the federation to caution law enforcement agencies against parading criminal suspects.

He said, “Although the courts have repeatedly cautioned the law enforcement agencies to desist from parading criminal suspects before the media the inspector-general of police, Mr Ibrahim Idris has justified the illegal practice. It was a defence which smacks of official impunity and insensitivity.

CelebritiesOmoni Oboli Face More Trouble As Court Orders The Seizure Of "Okafor’s Law” by Wikiforum(op): 7:05am On Mar 28, 2017
Justice Ibrahim Buba of a Federal High Court in Lagos has issued an Anton Piller order, directing the seizure of a film titled “Okafor’s Law” directed by Nollywood Producer, Omoni Oboli.

Omoni Oboli face more trouble as court orders the seizure of "Okafor’s Law”

The court also issued an interim order, suspending the release and launch of the film, in any movie theatre or cinema house on March 31, pending the determination of a motion on notice before the court.

The judge ordered the seizure of all copies, materials, projections or infringing materials, relating to the subject matter. The orders followed an ex parte application filed by a company, Rancoteur Productions Ltd, on behalf of a Canada based script writer, Jude Idada.

Idada lays claim to the film “Okafor’s Law” as his intellectual property. The plaintiff had filed the suit through Anthony Idigbe, seeking an order, halting the premiere and release of the said “Okafor’s Law”, pending the determination of a copyright infringement suit filed against Oboli.

The court thereafter, fixed March 29 for hearing of the motion on notice. Idada had accused Oboli of copyright infringement on the “Okafor’s Law” movie, adding that she had stolen his story idea for the movie in September 2016.

He alleged that Oboli took the work he had done regarding “Okafor’s Law”, and developed it without giving him due credit.

CrimeExpos:reason Why Murdered Airforce Officer Shomzy, A Mother Of One, Dumped Lover by Wikiforum(op): 9:08am On Mar 26, 2017
Mr. and Mrs. Tolani Oladipupo, parents of the slain aircrafts woman in the Nigerian Air Force, Solape Oladipupo, who was killed by her colleague and lover, Bernard Kalu on March 12, has revealed how the family made frantic effort to prevent the cruel fate that befell their late daughter after they received a prophecy, which warned deceased against engaging in any romantic relationship in her place of work.

Expos:Reason Why murdered Airforce officer Shomzy, a mother of one, dumped lover

Solape who was popularly known as Shomzy was murdered by her obsessed lover over the suspicion of infidelity in Makurdi, Benue State.

Mrs. Oladipupo told Sunday Sun in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State that the family received a prophecy warning the deceased against engaging in any relationship with anybody at her base in Makurdi, as
such relationship could spell doom for her.

According to her, the late Solape who was already dating Kalu, her eventual killer before the prophecy, was said to be working towards extricating herself from the doomed relationship when she was murdered.
“We were given a prophecy in our church to tell her not to ever date anyone where she worked and we told her. That was when she decided to part ways with Kalu. We didn’t know it was going to lead to this.
Even one of her uncles called her to tell her. I think that was how she took the bold step to tell Kalu she wasn’t interested in the relationship anymore. We didn’t know it would result in this.
Her father and I gave her a stern warning not to ever get involved in any romantic relationship with anyone within her base,” she said.
Meanwhile, the slain aircrafts woman was, last Thursday, buried at the cemetery in Ojo Military Barracks, Ojo, Lagos.

Her corpse was flown from the Makurdi Air Force Base to Lagos where family members and friends gathered to pay their last respects.

The deceased’s mother collapsed and fainted as the remains of her daughter was being lowered.

Speaking in an emotion-laden voice shortly after Solape’s remains were interred, the deceased’s father, Mr. Tolani Oladidupo, who described her death as a huge loss said getting justice for the deceased would be a major source of succour for the family.
“Her death is a huge loss to us and we can’t just express how much of pains and agony we share as a family over the death of Solape. You can see that I am just trying to be a man, pacifying my wife and children. I insist that what can provide a kind of succour to us as a family is to see government do something about the case.
“I can say her death is our own sacrifice to the sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We cannot wake her up again and I am not here to trade my late daughter, but the government should do the needful,” he said, insisting on death penalty for his daughter’s killer.
Meanwhile, Sunday Sun reliably gathered that the deceased already has a five year-old daughter. Solape was said to have given birth to a girl, who currently lives with her parents, when she was 16 years old.
Solape's mum told TheSun:
When I received the news of my daughter's death, I became unconscious and fainted immediately. When I was resuscitated, it was still like a dream to me. I still spoke with her the day before she was murdered. I have lost over 70% weight, right now. When we were talking that night, she even said she was going to speak with her daughter, and she did.

You mean she had a child already?

Yes (showing our reporter the child).

What’s the name of her child?

Her name is Bisola Ogunyemi.

And as it is now, how are you taking the loss?

The person who killed my daughter won’t go unpunished. He has said he was going to die too and he should be made to die. In a situation where Kalu’s family hires a lawyer to defend him, I will view it as an attempt to cheat us. I know justice would still prevail.

Did you have any premonition that such a thing would happen?

I have never thought I would lose anyone of them at all. In our church, we were given a prophecy to tell her not to ever date anyone where she worked and we told her. That was when she decided to part ways with Kalu.
We didn’t know it was going to lead to this. Even one of her uncles called her to tell her. I think that was how she took the bold step to tell Kalu she wasn’t interested in the relationship any more. We didn’t know it would result in this.
Her father and I gave her a stern warning not to ever get involved in any romantic relationship with anyone within her base. That was the prophecy we had. Yes, she told me about Kalu and that was why we had to accept one Sola, who was always calling me, although I have never met him.

Would you say you regret allowing your daughter join the military?

I won’t say that. No regret because the people there are humans too. There is no job that doesn’t come with its own risk. The rest there are humans too and some even grew very old on the job and retired. She had got an admission into the Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education before she was recruited into the Nigerian Air Force.

So, you don’t have any regret whatsoever?

No, I don’t have any regret. In fact, I don’t mind if the government can compensate the family by recruiting some of her siblings into the military.

CrimeAngry Jealous Wife Pour Hot Water On Husband’s Penis In Ibadan by Wikiforum(op): 2:54pm On Mar 23, 2017
A middle aged public school teacher in Ibadan, Adeyinka Adelakun, on Thursday, narrated how his wife, Kafayat, poured boiling water on his manhood which seriously injured him.

Adelakun had approached an Idi-Ogungun Customary Court at Agodi in Ibadan seeking the dissolution of his three-year-old marriage to his wife on grounds of threat to life and constant fighting.

He also prayed the court to allow him to have in his custody their two-year –old child so that he could effectively take care of the child.

According to the plaintiff, Kafayat is in the habit of fighting him and threatening him whenever they
have domestic issues to resolve.
“On Feb 27, 2016, she started her trouble as usual and I decided to call her mother on phone to caution her, but Kafayat brought a kettle of hot water from the kitchen and poured it on my genitals and chest.
“The pain was too much, I was rushed to the hospital due to the severe injuries I sustained and I stayed in the hospital for months.
“Even I cannot use my injured manhood for any sexual act till now because it has not healed and I decided to quit the marriage to avoid untimely death.
“I’m afraid of living with a woman that wanted to finish my manhood because she may do more harm if allow her in my life.”
Adelakun presented pictures of his injured genitals as exhibits to prove his case and the court admitted the pictures.

In her defence, Kafayat admitted the allegation but said that it was not intentional and that the hot water mistakenly poured on her husband when he wanted to beat her.

The defendant told the court that she was arrested because of the incident and the matter was resolved later.

Kafayat did not agree with the dissolution, saying she still loved her husband in spite of ill-treatment and lack of care from the plaintiff.

The Court President, Chief Mukaila Balogun, and two assessors, Aare Samotu and Ganiyu Alao, in their unanimous decision, dissolved the marriage.

Balogun said the opinion of the court was that there was no more love between the couple and the parties should go their separate ways to avoid more trouble.

The court further directed that the only child of the union should be in the custody of her mother and ordered the plaintiff to pay N4, 000 as monthly allowance for the upkeep of the child.

“The plaintiff should also pay N12, 000 and N5, 000 to the defendant to rent a new apartment and to pack her belongings respectively,“ the court ruled.

Foreign Affairs#xenophobia ; Nigerians Get Attacked Again In South Africa. by Wikiforum(op): 1:44pm On Mar 18, 2017
Some Nigerian real estate agents in Turffontein, South Africa, have been attacked by local residents who allege that they were hijacking their houses. The timely intervention of the Police however, quelled the tension in the area. Some South Africans alleged that the hijacked homes were either turned to brothels or used for harbouring drug lords...

Meanwhile, some of the victims of the attacks who said the claims were untrue, narrated their plight to Channels Television.

One of the agents explained that their businesses were legitimate and whatever benefits they received were only a result of their hard work.

“They say we are driving nice cars, wearing expensive clothes, getting married to their women – Its by God’s grace, we work hard for it,” one of the victims said.

The attack is happening in the same week that the Nigerian and South African governments are holding talks to stop the attacks on foreign nationals in the country.

Both countries had agreed to set up an early warning unit to look into issues that often bring friction between the citizens.

The Nigerian Government had also called on the South African Government to take decisive and definitive measures to protect its citizens and
other Africans within the country’s borders.

Jobs/VacanciesSome Suspected Fake Recruiters/ Employers Nigeria; How To Detect Fake Companies by Wikiforum(op): 3:23pm On Mar 10, 2017
Fake recruiters and employers cause a lot of pain to job seekers, we have taken time to compile list of fake recruiters reported by our users over time. Below are list of fake and scam recruiters/employers in Nigeria. You should be careful dealing with them, while some are after extorting money from you others claim to be what they are not. Please send us any organization or company you suspect to be scam or fraudlent HERE
How to Identify and Avoid Scam Recruiters
Job Scammers are getting smarter by the day. They continually find ways to send email and SMS invitations of job interviews to unsuspecting job seekers and then later on ask the same jobseekers for all sorts of fees (application fees, processing fees etc) before they can offer the jobs to them. Most times these jobs are non-existent.
To help job seekers never fall prey to fake and rogue recruiters who are out to take their money without any job offer in return here are some sound tips to detect scam recruiters;
– If They Have no Verifiable Online or Offline Address: When you get invited for a job you don't remember applying for be sure to check out the orofile of the recruiting organization and find out much as you can about them. If they have no verifiable web address and asks you to come for the entire in a place that is not their office (maybe a church or school building etc) it is a big sign that they might be fake. Still that is not a sure characteristic of fake recruiters.
– When They Ask for Money: Candidates are never supposed to pay to be interviewed or given a job they are qualified to get. Once you get invited to interview by an agency or recruiter and you go after doing your diligence on them the major thing that should alert you is when they ask for any sort of fee or payment. No matter what they call the fee (processing, application, administrative fee?) it is a big sign that they are out to defraud you. Simply leave.
How to Avoid Falling Victim to Job Scams
Don't Be Desperate for Job
Many times I have encountered job seekers mostly females who tell me they are ready to do anything to get a good job. Sometime ago even one lady I never met before kept calling and offering to meet me in person despite telling her there was no need for that. Such persons are susceptible to being duped. When you appear desperate you becloud your judgment and make yourself an easy target for job scammers.
Conduct Your Background Research
Just as we conduct rigorous checks on all agencies who submit their job vacancies to us you the job seeker should also do your due diligence on the organization behind any job offer before you apply.
Beware of Companies That Invite for Interviews in a Separate Location from Their Office or That Hide Their Address When Inviting You for Interview
Many fake recruiting agencies simply invite candidates to mass interviews in public school buildings or halls and do everything possible to hide their actual address from the candidates. When a recruiter does that it may be a sign that they are not genuine. You can confirm that they are not genuine if they finally ask you for money.
There are so many licensed recruiters around the country but still a few unscrupulous ones go about looking for people to scam. When you apply for a job through NGCareers or get invited to interviews by an employer through our CV Search you can always report any organization that demands for any form of advance fee from you during the process before they will offer you a job. When you report a job scam here we take it seriously and make sure other job seekers don't fall prey to the same prank.
The key is to never appear desperate for a job and never offer anybody money to get a job. If you do these two you will generally be fine.
