Education / Re: Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife In Pictures (Old/ Construction site Pix) by WIMUNR(m): 8:23pm On Dec 12, 2013
@eddieo, thanks bro for those wonderful pix of ABU. I already stated on the ABU thread that we don't make much noise. Just imagine how you single handedly dealt with the OAU noisemakers.

My major problem with them, especially @Olubenger is that they have refused to come up with any pics to back up their claim of OAU being the most beautiful campus. They're all saying the pics @op posted are not a true reflection of the school's true state. I pray them to please do a more decent job than the OP (that's if there's any way to better what I am seeing already).

Even the much publicised pics by Okija juju do little to establish their assertions when compared to the beautiful scenery of ABU.

Let's hold to the subject of beauty and structure and not drift into Academic excellence, except that's the only thing OAU has to offer.

I hope this puts to bed the debate that has gone on for days now about which of the two schools is better in terms of beauty, structure and aesthetics.

@Eddieo, thanks once again for bringing back those memories of that great citadel of learning (waiting for my gift too o). I'm so glad I will be going to Z town during my leave, will catch a glimpse of that beauty once again.

Haters, make una no vex o.... #teamabusites.....naturally ahead of U.

Peace out!!!

@ Kogistan,

Please let's stop posting all these pictures already, You wan make boys port comot for their schools. As you must have noticed, some are already beefing.

@ Uceee, these are real pictures and recent pics. Infact, those pics are not even neat enough. You need to have seen the school when Prof. Mahdi was still the VC, you will know that what you are seeing now is not neat enough.

Chartey:
Kongo? U wicked o. But honestly, Kongo is also beautiful o. Na even ABUTH Shika be d final killer. You can't just argue the fact that it's the most beautiful teaching hospital.

Lols!!! I just decided to put in some exaggeration. But we've not seen all the universities in Nigeria. I'm sure we will find one which Kongo is bigger than.

I intentionally left Shika out of the picture, else this thread would have been closed by now.
Education / Re: Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, (Pictures) by WIMUNR(m): 2:22pm On Dec 08, 2013
@OP, your head they there!!!

I rep ABU always, we are naturally ahead. We don't make any effort to shine, it just happens.

I have noticed that ABUsites seldom join words / issues with other alma maters, it's simply because we know where we are coming from.

That's why I laugh when some other universities are claiming levels, see someone trying to compare ABU's aesthetic beauty with Ife's, guy, u don lost already. Come to ABU and see, I promise your testimony will change. Most of these other universities can't even measure to our Kongo campus sef.

We are the biggest, the best and we are always leading the pack.

I don't know the basis on which ptdf arrived at their groupings for the Part B.
How will you categorise environment and remote sensing under Environment and safety engineering. To make matters worse, there was no single question related to remote sensing for that particular group.
Thank God for some general and secondary school basic science, I may not have been able to answer any question whatsoever.

Thank God all the same, cos this race is not to the swift, neither is this battle to the strong.......it's all about time and chance, being in the right place @ the right time. What will be, will be.

I don't want to say the gunnerz will win treble this season before Wenger (aka Gum) says "a top four finish is like a trophy as well".

I just hope Arsenal can disappoint me by winning a trophy this season (even if it's Capital One Cup) if not, I go PORT o.

Olarewajub:

Body Language
1. You must never scratch your body in public.
So what should I do when I get a hitch? Dance or dip my body in a pool of water?? angry

3. You can't crack your hand or neck in public. If you must do so, go to the rest room.
I crack my hands regularly (infact just did), what crime is it to do so? For the fact that you can't doesn't mean others shouldn't
4. You don't clean your face with an hankerchief, but rather you use a face towel.
So what's the use of the handkerchief then? For decoration

Dinning Setting
1. Your fork must be on your left hand.
Even when I am not using the table knife undecided Abeggi, i am right handed jare, cannot punish myself cos of Oyibo culture

All these rules of how to behave self angry.... the ultimate rule for me is moderation in whatever one does, either in the public or in your closet.

Religion / Re: What Is Assumption Of Mary by WIMUNR(m): 11:28am On Aug 16, 2013
italo: We Catholics also wonder how the Church has survived all the hatred, envy and persecution fron the biggest and most powerful human institutions in the world.

Then we hear Jesus whisper those words again:

"The gates of hades shall not prevail against you."

"I will be with you until the end of the age."

And our hearts are relaxed.

What is this biggest and most powerful institution in the world? Can you tell me which other institution controls more than 2 Billion people in the world? Which other institution has been deceiving folks for ages under the guise of religion just so they can get them to do whatever they want?
Are you sure it is Jesus whispering that to you or your "Queen Mary"?

superior1:

Catholic Church is the epitome of hatred, persecution, paganism and demonism. It is obvious you are not familiar with Church history, how can you say Catholic Church is being persecuted, are they not Chief persecutor of scientists and everyone who doesn't buy into their heretic doctrines?

Wake up and smell the coffee, it is time you flee the religion of dead bones and marianism.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: How Long After NYSC Did You Get A Job? by WIMUNR(m): 12:13am On Aug 16, 2013
In my case, I stayed almost 6 months @ home post NYSC submitting applications, writing aptitude tests and attending interviews.
6 months down the line, I took up teaching @ a Secondary school just to avoid asking parents for recharge card money and other miscellaneous.
10 months after NYSC, I got an offer and worked as a CCR with a telecoms company (with peanuts pay).
However, just 3 months afterwards, God favoured me with a better offer from a top consulting firm, where I've been working for almost 2 years now (boiz still searching for better pay o.....oil & Gas tinnz).

Trust me, those months of waiting (albeit short in my case, compared to some others here) were like hell, the endless prayers, the tears, the frustration..... I just thank God always for where I am now and for where he is taking me.

I also pray for all those still waiting that God will soon grant them their heart desires and cause them to smile. May God provide great jobs that will eclipse those months and years of waiting in Jesus Name.

Sometimes I wonder how almost 2 billion people are held in the bondage of CATHOLICSM!!!
Vatican City, well done o, you guys are damn good. Less than a thousand peeps (most of them 'oldies') effectively and effortlessly enslaving such a large population of people scattered around the world.
The vatican understanding that a physical god appeals better to man, coupled with the threat posed by the early CHRISTIANS, decided to adopt a form of christianity that has so much pagan dimension to it....talk abt the statutes, the crucifix, the festivals and other hidden clues.

The bitter truth is that catholics are not Christians, they are just "Pagans clothed in christianity".
I pray they find true salvation though.

Sometimes I imagine the number of petitions and prayers wasting on Mary's remains wherever it is. It's no better than praying through Sango or Amadioha.

Hmmmmn......... CCR tinnzz cheesy

@OP, great piece there, completely reminiscent of my time as a CCR with MTN call center in Jos. The CCR job is quite an interesting one, no dull moments at all cool. The down side to it however is the paltry take home at the end of the Month cry.
Trust me, you will converse with different personalities from the completely ignorant to the utterly insane cool.

Keep up the good work OP. **your moniker though lipsrsealed**
Romance / Re: My Girlfriend Wants Access To My Scholarship Money. by WIMUNR(m): 7:36pm On Aug 02, 2013
The Op being a prankster is not the issue here, great lessons can still be learnt from opinions and suggestions made.
I feel Wislet nailed it with her suggestion (though she's one BLUNT chick *phew*), Uche as well offered great advice.
Op, you should realise that most ladies prefer and respect a man that is proactive, takes initiative and stand by his decision (not being overtly stubborn though).
Give her your PIN and other bank details and watch her respect for you go south. She will simply take you for a sissy afterwards.
She myt be smart, intelligent and a genius......., but you never mentioned that she's an investment Banker or financial analyst.
To reiterate what well meaning peeps have said, what you need to do is always seek her advice before spending or investing the money and keep her in the know.
I personally don't subscribe to using her mobile number for receiving bank alerts, it's too risky (what if someone fiddles with her phone and gets to know ur worth).
Your relationship should be built on trust, she should trust you enough to spend the money wisely, she no be ya mama o (abi she be Police?)

@Naptu2, I must commend your efforts at enlightening the mostly ignorant bunch on Nairaland (even though most of them will choose to remain in the dark or selective light over this issue). I believe most Nigerians just want to associate themselves with a course, my problem with that is they do so with obvious and appalling ignorance.
I've read many articles both anti and pro the voting to retain the clause. I've also read some balanced articles on the issue at hand. We will sure do ourselves much good if we can read with an objective mind. Furthermore, at this point, I expect all the twitter and social media activist to apologize to Nigerians for the misinformation (though I know pride won't allow them do that) and re-direct their energy to a more holistic approach to improve the well-being of the Nigerian child (not just the girl child).
To my fellow Nigerians, please learn to verify, enlighten yourself and have a personal opinion (not feeding off some other person's) before hitting that retweet/broadcast button or before joining the #hashtag# trend.

I don talk my own smiley

Literature / Re: Cross River And Ssce Fraud: My Nysc Experience by WIMUNR(m): 12:28am On May 18, 2013
Going through the Poster's account reminded me of my service year in Cross River as well, Obubra Local Govt. back in 2009/10.

It's common practise in most parts of the state. The students pay huge sums of money as "Admin fee", which will be used to arrange the answers and sort invigillators.

It's a very lucrative business there. WAEC officials hustle to get posted to schools with larger population of students cos the larger the number, the more "gain" they make.
In my PPA then, subjects like mathematics and other subjects requiring calculations were solved on the board for the Students to copy, while the answers for other subjects are dictated to the students. It gets more annoying when the students still ask for the spelling of simple words while answers are being dictated to them.

Teachers that have children taking the exams will ensure their kids get a duplicate of the written down answers, so they can get the answers faster and more accurately.

I seriously weep for this country whenever I think of the future. Who will teach my Children :

Politics / Re: CPC Statement On Buhari's 2015 Candidacy by WIMUNR(m): 8:08pm On Apr 14, 2012
I just hope CPC has learnt her lesson from the last election and form a formiddable partnership with ACN early enough, and put in place a solid political structure that will give those organized looters (pdp) a run for their money.
I would also suggest they groom another candidate with less controversies as Buhari to give them better acceptance. If they can put this in place before next year, then I don't see pdp coming into power again, if not, we will be singing the same tune by 2015

Politics / Re: Lagos State To Legalize Voluntary Cremation Of Corpses by WIMUNR(m): 2:17pm On Apr 11, 2012
What is the big deal about cremation anyway? The body is dead, the spirit gone....either burying or cremation, it doesn't change the fate of the dead person. Those saying it goes against religion, was Jesus not buried in a tomb, why don't we go about carving out tombs just to bury the dead then? Some folks are just so glued to an opinion and refuse to move on!
