HealthRe: Intense Arguments With My Fiancé Regarding My Fitness Regime by WinterDreary(op): 12:05am On Sep 10, 2024
Datguy00:
Seriously u are disturbing urself
Too much of everything is bad .
Rest days are very important in exercise/work out regime.
Thanks for your opinion. I understand working out twice a day may not look immediately attractive to many people, but there are those who do it. I take one rest day a week and I also enjoy the exercise itself. Intrinsincally, I don't think it is bad to work out 6 times a week, as long as I get enough rest.
HealthIntense Arguments With My Fiancé Regarding My Fitness Regime by WinterDreary(op): 11:35pm On Sep 09, 2024
I would like to ask the opinions of experienced individuals here about an issue I’m going through.
I work out a lot, burning a lot of calories per day. Typically, I work out two times a day, one session in the morning and one session in the evening. There is a gym at my workplace, so it is easy for me to wake up early, go to the office, do some workouts, shower and then resume work. Sometimes, I head back to the same gym before leaving work. Otherwise, when I get home I use the treadmill inside my room. After several months of gyming I have gone from around 75kg to 62kg. My height is around 5’ 8”. I eat healthy, but mostly eat twice a day because my schedule is just full until lunch and I always eat to my fill.
The problem now is that my fiancé has a big issue with my working out. It is something we argue too frequently about. The funny thing is that she also works out, though she only works out twice a week. But she thinks I’m doing too much with my routine. She disagrees with my goal weight of 60kg, because she thinks it’s not a suitable weight for my height. According to her, my intense routine is only preparing me for organ damage, cancer, loss of bone density etc. I shouldn’t be working out that hard.
Then, when I try to convince her that everything is okay. I feel good. I’m happy with my routine. She thinks it’s misplaced. We have discussed how the indicators point to a good BMI for me, but she argues that BMI is not a good indicator to use. I agree with this. I know BMI alone is not sufficient. But what else is there to go with? When I ask this, I get no definite response from her, and it just leads us into more and more arguments where the other party feels they are not being heard. It leads into intense arguments where she thinks she needs to constantly prove her points when we talk.
I have tried all I can to convince her that everything is okay with my routine. I honestly don’t see what’s wrong. I have tried to point her to academic papers that surveyed people of my age range, height, and weight who have a high fitness level, but this hardly works. She just feels I’m not listening to her. I don’t know what else to do. I am at the point where I’m actually now doubting my own understanding of my physical shape.
I’m just wanting to know if there are better ways to convince her. Perhaps also, I’m the one in the wrong here and I’m pushing too hard with my fitness regime. I would like to understand the perspective of others.

I got an interview with statistics canada as Data science fellow. Anyone knows anybody at this institution who I can consult for guidance? Or anyone with experience on what this interview could entail? I have a fair idea already, only I want some more info. Thanks.
I got this role, btw. I'll be happy to offer guidance strictly by email to others who may need one on stuff like this. This was a data science fellow role with statistics Canada and has elements of statistical modelling, machine learning, and data science.

There is no one rule fits all. You need to prepare for StatsCan interviews. It is usually in between hard and easy depending on who is interviewing. Some hiring managers might just want to know if you have people skills while others might just go technical.

Go on glassdoor, indeed, Reddit for Canada public servants, rfd interviews for government workers; there are plenty reviews there about the general public service process, if you dig further you might see something for statscan.

Good luck !
Thanks. This helps, though I've already consulted these sites you mentioned. Was just hoping for a more personal interaction with another candidate or an insider. Thanks still.

Did anybody get the invite to write the online exam for the Data Science Fellow position at Statistics Canada? I'd love to talk to anyone who may have gotten an invite to write this exam. It's urgent. Thanks.

Hello,
Does anyone know if I get interview waiver for a US visa, if I had my original expired US visa from Nigeria and not originally in Canada? I'm applying at the embassy in Calgary

Hi all,

Trying to renew my Nigerian passport. but it looks like appointments are all booked into May. I really need a passport before end of April for travel. Is there a chance the embassy attends to people who didn't book on that specific day? I'm thinkin of just going to Ottawa and seeing if they'll attend to me this April. However, my appointment is for May. Don't know much about how things work there. Is this possible?

I got an opportunity to work in South Korea for at least the next 5 years, which means I'll be leaving Canada. I still don't know how the vacation will be structured and whether it will allow me spend enough time in Canada to renew my PR. For now, I have only stayed approx 2 years in Canada in the past 4 years, but should be leaving for South Korea in the next couple of months. How can one handle a situation like this so that they can still renew their PR? Maybe it's better to turn such an offer down? I heard if I get married to a Canadian I can live anywhere while my PR counts towards citizenship. Is this correct?

If the robbers don't get you in Nigeria, the doctors will, or the nurses, or the government. Something is just waiting to get you and to deal with you. That's how it works.

I'm trying to get new medicated glasses in Toronto, but I'm getting quote of around $490 at Hakem Optical. Anyone knows where I can get better deals? I don't want to pay more than $200-250

I quoted in the request that I was happy to pay. I am actually more comfortable paying double of what an airbnb would charge for him to stay with a Nigerian for that first week.
I never stated that it was free

Thanks anyways. I will try to look for an airbnb for him.
Sadly, I don't live in Calgary. I'd have offered to pick him up and probably house him without your paying. If he has to come to Edmonton until end of August, let me know.

I’m not pained. I only had to be blunt because people like you can’t handle the truth and resort to attacking people/being rude. I wouldn’t attack anyone if they didn’t attack me first. Stop the stupid micro aggression. You can’t respond to me in an insulting tone and then cry that I’m bitter when I respond back. If the truth is bitterness, then So be it. Like I said, Canada doesn’t owe you anything.

And where did I mention that I wasn’t also an aspiring immigrant? Y’all really act like you know everything. Once someone states the truth, y’all like to assume they have developed superiority complex because they’re finally a PR or citizen. You need to look within yourselves, maybe you just have inferiority complex. As for me, even a Canadian citizen would never be able to intimidate me. Y’all stay playing victim. I live in Canada doesn’t mean I’m a PR or Citizen. So when I say Canada doesn’t owe you shit, I’m talking to my self also. It’s a bitter pill I’ve had to swallow. You better accept it instead of calling people bitter. Foreigners really are never a priority in most countries. Maybe it might shock you to know that I also have an application that’s been processing for monthssssssssss. Maybe I’m just more understanding because I’m in here already and can see firsthand how bad things really are in terms of the pandemic.

Anyways Na you sabi. I’m not responding to you anymore. Wish you luck too. May you also find happiness, maybe you’d finally develop balls to handle the truth. P.S you can continue crying all you want on the thread and on Twitter please, It’s really not that deep to me. Are you happy now? I hope your crying gets your application approved ASAP. Lmaooo sorry to all of you that are getting offfended by the truth. I don’t have strength to argue again. Sorry, you can insult the government and IRCC all you want please. Thanks
You probably don't know that the default move for most Nigerians when they are not getting their way is to rant and complain. For a country that has seen its citizen disappointed for several years, hand-wringing/folding and complaints from a distance are often the typical reactions. No one attempts to understand that, on the contrary, this is a system that works and everybody's application WILL eventually be attended to.

Bon! Tu y es arrivé. Tu es à quel niveau?
