Seems dry season is likely going to be late this year, the weather report still predicting a lot of rainfall in days ahead.
People in flood plains need to evacuate to higher ground until it is certain we have entered dry season and I expect it may be as late as mid-November to beginning of December this year.

PoliticsRe: Insecurity In Southeast Criminality, Not Biafra Agitation – DSS by worksmart(m): 3:57am On Oct 14, 2023
The DSS statement is correct.
The insecurity in the SE cannot possibly be from true Biafra agitation, as true Biafra agitation groups have been marginalised and intimidated almost out of existence by IPOB.

Indeed the criminal and terrorist organisation that calls itself IPOB is responsible for the insecurity but they try to justify their criminality and terrorism by hiding behind their insincere claim to be agitating for Biafra.

I believe this is what the DSS statemant is eluding to, and it is 100% correct.

Buhari gave Igbos powerful ministries, he could have given Igbos less powerful ones if he wanted, e.g. Women, Art & Culture, Tourism etc.

Other than ministers, he gave Igbos Chief Justice of Nigeria, Head of Service, CBN governor or do you want him to give everything to Igbos? There are 200+ other tribes haba!

Abeg , give credit where it is due , Buhari was fair.

Now if you want accuse Tinubu of marginalising Igbos , I would fully agree with you.
SoNature:
What Buhari gave to South East was mostly ministerial appointments. Every state must have a minister. Buhari didn't have a choice. Away from ministeries, the rest of the appointments were mostly for the North and South West.
PoliticsRe: Tinubu Appoints Ola Olukoyede As New EFCC Chairman, Hammajoda As Secretary by worksmart(m): 1:13pm On Oct 12, 2023
Leave Buhari name out of it , he re-confirmed Emefiele as CBN governor and appointed an Igbo as head of service. What about the powerful ministries he gave to SE and SS? Transportation, Trade and Investment, Labour and Employment, Foreign Affairs, Health, Niger-Delta, Environment, Science and Technology, Petroleum Resources (Minster of State).
Don't forget he also appointed an Acting CJN that was Igbo.
What about his appointments to SW?
Solid Minerals and Steel, Health, Power, works and Housing, Head of Service, Chief of Defence staff, Chief Justice of Nigeria, Transport, Niger Delta

Buhari was reasonably fair
SoNature:
Jonathan was a Nigerian president and that's how sane people run a government in a diverse society. Buhari's and Tinubu's styles are nonsensical and divisive.

The bigotry of my fellow Igbos against our fellow Igbos is shocking and embarrassing. Those shouting misplaced priorities are so hypocritical; They were not shouting that before Umahi began his massive infrastructural transformation of the state.

Even if the airport remains idle the airport has been built and is not going anywhere , so it can still become useful in the future. What Umahi was doing was not to only build for the capacity of Ebonyi of today, but to also build for Ebonyi of tomorrow . A truely visionary governor.

Imagine my own Anambra state that is suffering infrastructural decay and looking like a glorified village , is the one some of whose residents are criticizing Ebonyi state for building a gigantic world class international airport.

Meanwhile our Anambra state is turning to mud with our useless governor Soludo unable to even complete a single road rehabilitation projects since becoming the governor almost two years ago.

What Umahi has built is only the third world-class international airport in the country and President Buhari before he left office had already agreed that FG would concession the airport.

So those crying can continue to cry, but personally I believe that Engr Umahi who built it deserves praise for not only giving alaigbo it's first world class international airport, but also giving Nigeria our long overdue new world class international airport.

Those wailing from Anambra should look into themselves to find out why they are crying about mega project development in Ebonyi and not the pathetic state of infrastructural decay in our own Anambra.

Still it wasn't Buhari or his minister of state that made that comment about subsidy . NNPC is independent and can call the price hike subsidy removal if they wish. Many news agency can also call the price hike subsidy removal, but the key point is Buhari himself never described it as subsidy removal.

You now have you official warning from NEMA
Do not delay a moment longer evacuate to higher ground immediate you don't want to wake up in the flood by then it would be too late to do so.

Remember by the time you see in the tiniest flood it may be already too late as the flood in getting to you may have already fully submerged or washed away your route to higher ground.

Start using permanent marker to write Identification info on the skin of family members (especially babies and infants in the unfortunate event that the flood carries them away.
Leave for higher ground now, before it gets to this!

You are clearly misunderstanding me . Tinubu is an unmitigated disaster and criminal. How Nigeria allowed such a person to even contest for the office of the president is what I see as astonishing and a testament to how flawed we are as a country.
aviara:
You are a good example of the problem of Nigeria. You leave the problem facing the country and demand that our leaders take proactive steps to profer solution or resign if they don't have the solution. You are busy casting blames at others.

Managing an economy effectively is never done by propaganda or ethnic politics and sentiments. Macro economics works by scientific mix of fiscal and monetary policies taking various factors into consideration at the appropriate timing.

It was a major error for President Tinubu to have announced the end of subsidy at the time he did without first putting in place certain cushioning measures. It was also a fatal error to float the naira almost at the same time with subsidy removal knowing that Nigeria is a highly import dependant country. I never believed that a day will ever come when the naira will exchange one dollar at over N1000.

Floods Loom in Anambra, Delta, Bayelsa, Kogi, Six Others as Cameroonian Dam Releases Water

*NEMA urges states along rivers Niger and Benue to activate emergency response plans

Kuni Tyessi in Abuja

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has alerted Nigerians to expect floods as Cameroonian authorities release water from the Lagdo Dam.
The agency noted that nine states could be affected by the recent release of water from the dam, which is expected to last till the end of this month.
This was disclosed yesterday by the Director General of NEMA, Mustapha Ahmed, during an emergency meeting where he gave an update on the release of water from Lagdo Dam and the consequential flooding of communities along the banks of River Niger and River Benue.

The states that may be affected are: Adamawa, Taraba, Benue, Nasarawa, Kogi, Anambra, Edo, Delta, and Bayelsa states.
Ahmed said the recent release of water by the dam has led to the displacement of 48,100 persons in 13 states of the federation and could lead to the destruction of crops and other infrastructure.

He added that since August 14 when the dam was opened, 28 deaths have been recorded and 159,157 persons have been affected.
The NEMA DG called on all heads of State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to cushion the effects of the disaster.
He said: “NEMA has been alerted on sudden increased inundation of riparian communities and farmlands along the banks of River Niger in Adamawa, Taraba and Benue states in the past 48 hours.

“The sudden situation is attributed to the rapid release of waters from Lagdo Dam in the Republic of Cameroon and has resulted in the displacement of several inhabitants of the affected communities.
“Furthermore, croplands and valuable infrastructure are at risk of getting washed away by the flood waters. Situation reports from Adamawa State confirm the upsurge of flood waters along the flood plains of River Benue.

“The situation is expected to be replicated in downstream states of Taraba, Benue, Nasarawa, Kogi, Anambra, Edo, Delta and Bayelsa as the River Benue joins River Niger and flows to the Atlantic Ocean through the Niger Delta.”
The agency cautioned authorities of state and local governments along rivers Niger and Benue basin areas to immediately activate their emergency response plans to avert potential damage and losses that will arise due to the flooding of communities.

“I want to use this opportunity to alert authorities of state and local governments along rivers Niger and Benue basin areas to immediately activate their emergency response plans to avert potential damage and losses that will arise due to inundation of communities by flood waters,” he said.
NEMA promised to give further updates as it expects to receive updates from the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA), NIMET, NEMA Operations Office in Yola Adamawa state, and from State Emergency Agencies of the frontline states.

On the number of those that have been affected so far by flood this year, he said: “The NEMA situation room dashboard indicates that this year’s flood scenario has affected 159,157 persons, resulted in the loss of 28 persons and the displacement of 48,168 individuals in 13 states across Nigeria.”

If a country isn't work why do you ipob say the only solution is to break it up?
How does breaking up a country suddenly make the country to work better? Where are the case evidence in world history undecided ?
lawani:
Let us say Naira in circulation when Buhari was there was only two trillion naira in total. It has definitely increased to around three trillion naira by printing and that is why the dollar is now changing at one thousand naira currently from around seven hundred naira. This was happening even when the President was not a crook using the id of a woman to operate. How much more now?. So the only way out is for statebgo ernments to generate their own revenue as is the case in Lagos, so that there will be less need for printing money by the FG. However they can still print solely for the purpose of stealing the funds. They do that all the time. Emefiele said in court that he was releasing 500 billion naira per month illegally to a woman as directed by Buhari. So it is what it is. The best actually is a break up of the country
PoliticsRe: PENGASSAN Confirms Return Of Fuel Subsidy Under Tinubu by worksmart(m): 4:43pm On Oct 08, 2023
It was Vanguard news that chose to call the price hike subsidy removal, nowhere in that story did they indicate that Buhari called the price hike subsidy removal

My challenge to you is that you can never find anytime in history that any govt has ever announced that they are subsidizing fuel. That should help you understand that fuel has never been subsidized.
Raregem9000:
Na waooo. You sure say you dey this country? https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.vanguardngr.com/2016/05/breaking-fg-removes-subsidy-petrol-to-sell-for-145ltr/amp/
PoliticsRe: PENGASSAN Confirms Return Of Fuel Subsidy Under Tinubu by worksmart(m): 3:17pm On Oct 08, 2023
Stop lying Buhari never called that subsidy removal and never made any such announcement. Buhari always insisted that fuel was never subsidized, so increasing fuel price to N145 was a price hike (which is all it was) but not called subsidy removal because you cannot remove something that was never there.
Raregem9000:
Subsidy can never go in Nigeria. Lol. President Buhari removed subsidy in 2016, where he jacked up the price of PMS from N87 he inherited in 2015 to N145 and declared subsidy gone but today we're still talking about same subsidy.
PoliticsRe: PENGASSAN Confirms Return Of Fuel Subsidy Under Tinubu by worksmart(m): 3:11pm On Oct 08, 2023
Tell me where a govt has ever announced that they are selling fuel a price lower than it costs them to produce because that is the meaning of subsidy.
nairalanda1:
Subsidy has always been there.

If there was no subsidy really, by now fuel would be costing between N800-1000 or more. (Niger republic has fuel at N1000 and Ghana is almost at N900 PER liter. No subsidy, working refineries in both countries). In 2015, June, for example,if there was no subsidy, fuel would have been over N130 per liter instead of the N87. In 2012, January, fuel would have been above N100 instead of the N65 it was there.

There always has been a subsidy. The hoax is the corruption inherent in the thing. Free government money promotes a lot of evil.
