assuming i want to the buy the 1 acre (A14) allotted to me, what will be the cost implication , also, is it mandatory that i use the land for farming or i can use it for something else like lawn tennis court any day i decide to do so
No cost implications I mean you aren't paying a dime for the land for 1 year.
It exclusively for crop farming.

Agriculture is a money spinner.

I have chosen an area of agric that returns at least 100% investment on land and crops annually by the 3rd year and continuously.

Most busineses drown because of excessive overhead costs. Yes, revenue comes in but costs eat it up. Agriculture is non taxable and only one other business I have seen isn't taxable too.

All your income is profit. Yes profit !

Thank God for the little eye opener since 1 month I have been drawing up business estimates.
Hello there, if you have anything you think can help the youth i beg just split it out.

Your best bet is to go and visit an experienced plantain farmer and get all the facts, I doubt if u can win youwin with online facts.
He need more than experience farmers because he has to write a business plan with 3years cash flow projection. How many farmers knows that.

So far, av keenly followed experts in agribiz on nairaland and av been opportuned to meet some. I want to apply for YOUWIN 2014 but I need some advice.

I plan to apply for a grant for PLANTAIN FARMING. Please I need your advice before I do so.
1: how profitable is it?
2: how many Ha. Can 10 million establish?
3: how many staff can one employ to run a farm of that size?

4: what other value chains in plantain farming can one integrate with the farm?
5: which state is most preferable to invest in plantain: Ogun, Oyo or Osun state?

Please guys, help me out with These questions. I applied For YOUWIN 3 last year. But I failed to consult experts before i did. I was not even selected for the first stage. Please help me and God bless your efforts.
Sorry for replying late.
Have being so busy with our new intiative.

Now let take it one after the other.
I pray that your expectations shall not be cut short. Amen
You can't apply for the maximum amount 10 million involved in Youwin.
Have been involved in youwin from day 1 and I stand to be corrected nobody in this country has ever got the 10million. If you know anyone then come out and show the prove even the last set are yet to get money.

Now to you question.
1. Plantain is highly lucrative
2. For a standard farm minus land about 8acres which will translate to almost 20,000 plantain.
3. Staff is not about no but productivity. Plus security 4-7.
4. You can reduce the farm size and invest in processing your plantain into plantain flour, then have a lot of snails in the plantain farm using natural breeding methodology.
5. A lot of things are involved when it comes to farm land purchase. If you intend to sell your produce looking at proximity to major market Ogun is better.
But in case you want to process you can stay in rote area which will translate to cheap land, labour and electricity.

@ dyt and world1, well done. Would have joined the thread earlier but I am just entering town from the farm. A lot of people have been calling me to confirm if this is true. So here is the answer

It's

TRUE.
This is purely to contribute and help serious people launch themselves as agropreneurs.
Free 50 acres of land, free training and mentoring, ready markets etc.
Everyone interested need to appreciate world1 for not being selfish. I offered him 10 acres for free, he told me he's donating it with other packages and persuaded me to give additional 40 acres.
Now its done, it wouldnt have happened without his selfless mind.
@ world1, you are 1 in a million.
Thanks so much let join hands together to make Nigeria a better place.

Can you imagine someone called and said he thougt I have interior motives about the project I told him I actually have exterior motives grin grin

There are 5 crops you put there
Please do elaborate on each
I know you don't do much of epistles but it will be well appreciated so the students can know what amount to have to own a farm.

And after the 1yr, when the student have produce, do you still get them buyers or they source for buyers themselves?
Am sorry I can't be doing that right here some kids on this forum will only concentrate on the amout quoted and turn it to debate agribusiness is not for babys it requires money and expertise moreover this opportunity is for those few that applied.
since the 2 major component of faming which is Land and How to plant is Free. The remaining part are cheap and simple. You can join the group on whatsapp.

Like I said earlier we have readymade market for these 5crops. We have buyers that need them in large quantity and of excellent quality that why we created this opportunity.
WABI Centre is a farmers hub were buyers will be getting fresh supply in desire quantity.

Dyt:
Are you giving out free seeds and suckers?
If NO, how much do these seeds costs?

And could you please give total estimate of the amount students will need to set up the farm.

Thanks for your time
No everything can't be free. Each participant will fund his/her project from planting to harvesting.

Cost of seed depend on which crop you intend to plant.
Please let be specific so choose your intending crop fist then I can give the cost analysis

nice one. after one year, what happens? The beneficiaries are expected to have made enough to establish themselves? or how does it go? is this the first of this kind of programme? op my questions aint much
No your questiona are really great.

After 1year we believed you should be able to stand on your own in order for us to help other set of farmers.

If you like you can decide to retain your existing farm land by buying it from WABI.

This is the first of its kind. We are already talking to all stakeholders in agriculture including the government of Oyo, Osun and Kwara to join hand with us by sending participants.
