Please I want to apply to Oxford University but I can't pay the application fee. Will it be embarrassing if I ask them to waive it? Will asking influence my profile negatively?
If you can not pay the little application fee, how will you pay the huge tuition and accommodation fees?

You must have access to at least £50,000 investment funds to apply.
That is 19 million Nair.

Hello everyone, I've been following this thread and I must confess that I've learnt a lot thanks to Justwise and other contributors.

However, I didn't come across some questions which apply to my situation and I would appreciate your inputs as I plan to apply for standard visitor's visas for my family.

The main purpose of this trip is for our 3 month old baby spend some time with my wife's family in the UK as he's their first grandchild. We don't have sufficient fund for the trip in one particular account so we would like to combine all our accounts both personal and joint for the application in order to stand a better chance at obtaining the visas. Is it better to transfer all the fund into one account or leave them the way they are and explain in a covering letter? Should we both select co-sponsor in the application? For the cost of the trip and amount available for the trip, should we both input the total cost of the trip as a family in our individual applications or should I input this amount in my application while my wife inputs zero or should we divide the total amount between us and input an amount based on our account balances. I also read somewhere that our applications can be linked, please how is that done and which of the UK visa application sites allows this?

Also, our salaries are never the same in any two months based on the nature of our jobs and in addition, I usually receive a big percentage of my annual salary at the beginning of the year while the rest is spread over the year. Should we take an average of our salaries for the six months we would submit our bank statement as our monthly salaries or should it be an average of our total annual salaries?
Be careful!
If the visa officer sees that you are using most of your savings for one trip you will be refused.
There must be a substantial amount remaining after your trip or they will suspect that you are going to stay in UK.
(Ties to home.)

Hi all,

Am actually new here and seriously need some advice concerning my intended trip to the US. I travelled in 2013 for a conference with a 2years b1/b2 business/conference visa. Afterwards,i renewed it in 2015 through drop-box and they gave me another 2years but i did not travel due to the workload in my company at that time. My visa expired in this month of march 2017 and i decided to renew it to enable me attend this year's conference of which i have been issued another 2years visa. The issue now is that i am pregnant and am suppose to give birth after the conference. so i am planning for the conference and delivery when i travel but at the same time am afraid hearing all manner of things that happens at the US point of entry. What are my chances? Please helppp!
We do not give chances or odds.
Travel while pregnant is a risk. If CBP suspect that you are pregnant they will send you home possibly with a record of fraud.
They WILL suspect that your intention is to give birth in the USA.
Even if you notify US visa office in Nigeria CBP can still be difficult.

If you do intend USA birth then you must make contact with Doctor or hospital and get price quotes.
You must be able to prove funds or payment at POE.

Quick question house. While applying to Exeter,I was required to click a box for either yes or no.it read: Do I require for uni of Exeter to be my immigration sponsor during my study in the UK. What is the right option?? I'm on full scholarship
The correct answer is YES.
In this case they mean sponsor for your tier 4 visa, which is the school.

I lost my international passport, I don't know if I should report to police or NIS.
I have a scanned copy of it.
You must report it to the police and if possible get a record of the report. Then you need to start getting a new one.

Hello guys, I've been seeing here the 'half fees payment' thing before visa application but i still need some clarifications. Please, how about if one pays £3k out of £10k and also shows enough money in parent's account statement to cover the remainder of the tuition + maintenance fee, will visa be denied such a person?

Thanks all
We can not see the future
No one can predict if a visa will be granted whatever the circumstances.
The only way to find out for sure is to apply.

Hello everyone, it's been a while have been following this thread but I still have some questions unanswered yet, My question is, does one stand a chance for a full scholarship throughout ones study period?
You stand a better chance with top grades from your current school.
You should start contacting schools now in the USA and asking them about funding.

No one here can tell if YOU will get funding, only schools can answer that.

Naija passport expires May 17,
Can someone travel to Naija on April 18 (green card holder) from the States and return first week of May(4th or 5th) and not have any problems both ways?
Mind you that scarcity of passport booklets dey now both in Naija and the consulates and embassies. Thanks.
You should get an emergency travel certificate from the Nigerian embassy to travel home with.
International law says that you can return to your home country with an expired passport but the criminals at Nigerian point of entry are likely to want something or they will delay you!
You will not be allowed to board a flight to return to the USA with an expired passport.
Whatever is required you must get a new one if you return to Nigeria!

Hello everyone, pls I need your advice. My husband and I plan to go study in Fall 2017 in the US. We both have our admission letter and we also both got partial scholarship. We are attending the same school in New Jersey. so this means that we will both be applying for F1 VISA INDIVIDUALLY and not F1 and F2 visa. What do you advice we do? shd one person apply for F1 while the other apply for F2? or shd we both apply for F1? Do we apply together for F1? or shd we apply individually? What are our chances of getting student visa since we are both going to study.

Also I had my son 1yr and 4 moths ago in the us. My husband and I did NOT take medicare or is it medicade it is called. We pay monthly for my son bill since we gave birth to him but for the last 5 -6 months we have not been able to meet up monthly payment as I lost my job and my husband office has not been consistent with salary. What are our chances as we plan to go to the us embassy to apply for f1?

I have called the hospital several times to ask for a smaller payment plan as I cant meet the previous naymore but they keep saying that they cant help with a smaller fee.
You will show up as non payers on the system.
Why risk wahalla with visa officers or worse CBP at point of entry!

Make your plans to study in another country, plenty of good schools worldwide.

Also perhaps think of paying your bills before spending money on school!

Not at all... it's a normal item when traveling.
Make very sure that it does not have job stuff or your CV on it!
Also no political material and check facebook groups and contacts.
If they look at it and find such things you can be on the next plain home!

thanks a lot for your response
My last application was made mid sept last year,
Also, yes i still have the plan of getting bsc, during my visit to London i visited some colleges, and still expecting their response.. Aside the easter holiday, have a friend whose graduation is on may, had the mind of going for it then use the opportunity to meet the professors, make enquiries about my course of study etc, then also visit some schools....
# do you think thats enough
Please forget this plan.
Visiting schools in person is something people do not do.
It may well look like a desperate attempt at a visa.
Save your money and avoid complications.
Do your research on line and apply to good schools.
Avoid private colleges and one room schools!

Pls advice me on how to go about it ,and link.

The USA visa site has a lot of information.

Read back here to learn lots.

You will be judged on your strong ties to prove that you will return home.
Then robust finances.
Make a good plan and understand where you want to visit.

MOST IMPORTANT. Only tell the truth in your application.

Nope based on Agent things
Then you are in trouble!
"It was an agent" will get you a long ban.
The policy is that only you are responsible for what was on your application.

Hi experienced folks here. I am due to attend an exam in the U.K in 2months. I intend to stay for just 4days. I have a stable job that pays 300k monthly but the problem is, I only have 500k saved up in my account. I am married and I am not using a sponsor, what I have should be enough for 4days but I want to know how best to package my application.
What are my chances please?
If you are proposing to spend all your savings on a short trip then your chances are poor.

What connection does the exam have with your employment?
Can you get a letter of support from your stable employer?
Will you return to your job, can you prove this?(Letter from employer)

Being married is not much of a tie, Nigerians are known to abandon a family to travel and hussle!
