For Russia, selecting the Su-30SM for the Syrian operation is a logical choice. The aircraft can carry a hefty payload and it has excellent range. Moreover, it offers the flexibility to carry out air-to-air and air-to-ground missions. That means it doesn’t need a separate fighter escort. Further, the aircraft has a second crewmember, which is helpful for complex missions. That’s why the U.S. Air Force’s F-15E Strike Eagle and the U.S. Navy’s F/A-18F Super Hornet, which are in many respects the Su-30SM’s direct analogues, have two aviators onboard.

While the Russian deployment is significant in shoring up the Assad regime, in the unlikely event of a confrontation with U.S forces, a handful of Su-30s would not last long against the overwhelming odds they would face. U.S. forces in the region have a host of advanced fighters available to them—the most potent of which is the Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor. Moreover, the U.S. forces in the region far outnumber the Russian forces.

While the Su-30SM is a very capable fourth generation fighter, it stands no chance against the Raptor—especially in a beyond visual range engagement. Purely on hardware terms, the Raptor has an advantage on every metric except range and payload. The F-22’s combination of stealth and sensors means that the Russian aircraft would likely be destroyed before they had any idea they were being targeted. During regular training exercises in the United States, a group of four F-22s will have to practice against as many as twenty “enemy” aircraft in order to get any useful training accomplished.

Russia is a super power immediate she took over after the disintegration of USSR; America and the west have always played this down by placing various propagandas on medias all over the world, A case is the recent United States CIA report that claim several Russian cruise missiles crashed and as such they didn't hit the intended targets but they later claimed 4 crashed.

The Russians denied this report and stated that all 26 fired cruise missiles did hit their targets and that the United States should back their claim up with pictures of where they crashed, but up till date the United States couldn't provide any picture.

The United States military is overrated while Russia's military is underrated; this is evidence in the report of Russian General going to the United States embassy in Iraq and telling them to get out of RUAF way: they violated Turkey a NATO partner airspace several times, they overshadowed american predator drones 3 times ( meaning they can shoot it down if it comes near their airbase.

Just 2 days ago, American fighter jet had to run away into turkey due to an approaching Russian fighter. The United States know how powerful Russia is because Russia is the only country in the world who have the capability to effectively deliver a nuclear weapon in the united States in less than 30minutes, no other country can do such.

Please note that due yo the above, the united States have to keep building bases abroad and then deploy air defences there so as to try to reduce Russia capability of hitting the United States, like they are forming all kind of alliances with lots of countries because no single country can defeat Russia the grandson of the red army in a war

I hold much respect for the Russians. Their latest technology in weaponry, precision when targeting their enemies and fast combat.

Point is, The US navy have moved far beyond hitting static targets with cruise missiles and have successfully tested synthetically guided Tomahawk missiles that can hit moving targets, alter its course toward the moving target after receiving position updates from surveillance aircraft/drones. The only area Russia can even dream to compete with the US navy is with submarines. Most Russian naval surface ships are old soviet legacy relics. They are modernizing however i will give them that.

S300 is a fascinating piece of technology but USAF wont even break a sweat penetrating it. There are advanced Miniature Air-Launched Decoys that can render it obsolete if it is integrated with Joint Standoff Weapons like AGM-154 and advanced Anti-Radiation missiles. A comprehensive USAF Iron Hand operation will amaze you.
