Can I get a full explanation about the reason why the bread and wine aren't eaten during the Lord's evening meal; especially with reference to the old and new covenant? That is, its origin in the Hebrew scriptures (israel as a nation of priest) down to the Greek Scriptures (the new covenant). How and why it was changed. Thank you and May Jehovah see your efforts! Riofidelio: NO! Jesus was a perfect person, though He served as a prophet and God simultaneously like Moses according to the scriptures.Remember His conception as in pregnancy was through the Holy Spirit and not through intercourse like every other person, so Jesus is sinless. In fact He's greater than Moses in many ways (1) He lived in heaven before. Proverbs 8:22-31 (2) He is the one through whom every single WORD of God comes.John 1:1(3) Unlike Moses He never made a single mistake(sin) because He's perfect. The similarities are what i mentioned to explain why He WAS God at a certain time just as imperfect Moses also WAS God at a certain time. Seriously Jesus is greater than anyone who ever walked on this Earth! Adam is our dead father who brought sin and death upon all humans but Jesus is our ever living father through whom we're going to gain everlasting life!(Everlasting Father Isaiah 9:6)Both Adam and Jesus are the only two human Sons of God. Luke 3:38 because they were both made perfect without sin but while Jesus maintained His perfectness Adam lost his own! |

Riofidelio: brocab i know you're taught the miserable Trinity mystery, and those who championed this teaching agreed that it's not what they can explain but God's word is not like that otherwise God won't ask US through HIS Son to go and teach what we can't explain. Trinity is incomprehensible as it's having no root in God's word. Jesus was God because He performed so many mighty works before observers just like Moses was God before Pharaoh, notice that John 1:1 referred to our LIVING Master Lord and King in this way "the word was God" meaning while He was present with them they can all feel the presence and the mighty hand of God (Emmanuel) but as soon as He returned to heaven He sat at the right hand of the one who sent Him so He's not presently serving in that office anymore! The Holy Spirit came and many of Jesus' followers were looked upon as God just because of the presence of the Holy Spirit with them.So th Word WAS! WAS!! God just as Moses WAS God at a point in time. John cleared it by saying "the word WAS (not IS) God" Jesus is alive now in heaven it won't be appropriate to for an Apostle to refer to a living person by saying "the word was God" while He is alive.God bless you! May Jehovah bless your ways for this insight. This write-up in particular made my night/touched my heart. I am Happy at it! |

1st Cor. 13:13. Now, however, these three remain: faith, hope, love; but the greatest of these is love. Read from chapter 12 onwards to 13 verse 13. It never said powerful works or miracles shall remain or continue to exist. Now kindly tell me why you guys can't raise the dead? Why you guys can't turn water to wine, command tsunamis, hurricanes or rains causing floodings to stop? Christ miracles wasn't selective, he cured everyone who he met that had infirmities. Dey there dey deceive yourself! Hairyrapunzel: That's what Jesus Christ said in the Bible. You can't change it. If you like o let your governing body interpret their own rubbish. It doesn't change Jesus words.
Bring the verse that said it's only love, faith and hope that shall remain and performing miracles will cease. I guess it's only your magazines that will write this. I am waiting for that verse o. Or are you afraid to say there is no verse in the Bible that says such?
Lol. You think you can use verses out of context? In that case, persecution and hatred has ended since only love, faith and hope are remaining. Lol |

Until your pastors raise the dead then I'll believe the power to do miracles isn't a foregone thing. After all, the apostles did raise the dead. Hairyrapunzel:
You still could not show the passage where Jesus said the miracles where for two purposes and that its only the first century Christians he gave that power.
You don't know the overall message of the Bible. You will use just one verse amongst 42verses to justify your non biblical beliefs and when they ask you for verses to support your claim you begin to talk past point.
I am waiting for the passage. Except there is no passage stating such. If there isn't then you people are not Christ followers.
And BTW you can't change the fact that Jesus said his followers will heal the sick, cast out demons and raise the dead.
If you say that everyone hating a particular Christian sect signifies that they are the true followers of Christ then you also have to agree that performing miracles by that sect should identify them as Christ followers because Jesus said so himself. They go hand in hand read the whole Matthew 10 and see for yourself. You want to justify the deductions based on assumptions made by your leaders. You can't twist the Bible whenever it suits you. You can't change the bibles stance on certain things.
Show me Bible passage now you no gree instead you they tell me god used few people in order for you to understand the Bible. You know this because The few men told you that you can only understand the Bible using them (few men). I don't subscribe to living in bondage. |

OLAADEGBU: Within the Year
Alerted by the so-called Christmas star, an unknown number of magi from the East (perhaps Persia4) made their way to Herod's palace in Jerusalem to inquire of the Christ child (Matthew 2:1–4).
Contrary to popular opinion, the star was probably not a typical event in the heavens (e.g., supernova, planetary alignment, comet, etc.) Instead, it was truly a miraculous and special star (Matthew 2:2, 7, 9–11). That star was manipulated by the wicked one. That's why it directed the magi to the palace of king Herod's (this was to alert him) and after that it moved on to the location of Jesus' birthplace. God intervened when he instructed the magi through a dream asking that they never return to Herod's. Besides, God in the hebrew scriptures warned his people not to observe the stars for foretelling purposes. Little wonder the wicked one could subtly deceive the magi by their study of the celestial bodies. |

Olifiz: The Truth About Christmas
DO YOU care about spiritual truth? If so, then perhaps you have asked these questions: (1) Was Jesus actually born on December 25? (2) Who were the “wise men,” and were they really three in number? (3) What sort of “star” led them to Jesus? (4) What does Santa Claus have to do with Jesus and his birth? (5) How does God view the Christmas custom of giving gifts or, to be more precise, exchanging gifts?
Let us now consider these questions in the light of the Bible and historical facts.
(1) Was Jesus Born on December 25?
The custom: According to tradition, Jesus’ birth took place on December 25 and is celebrated on that date. “Christmas,” says the Encyclopedia of Religion, means “‘Christ’s Mass,’ that is, the mass celebrating the feast of Christ’s nativity,” or birth.
Its roots: “The establishment of December 25 evolved not from biblical precedent,” says The Christmas Encyclopedia, “but from pagan Roman festivals held at year’s end,” about the time of the winter solstice in the Northern Hemisphere. Those festivals included the Saturnalia, in honor of Saturn, god of agriculture, “and the combined festivals of two sun gods, the Roman Sol and the Persian Mithra,” says the same encyclopedia. Both birthdays were celebrated on December 25, the winter solstice according to the Julian calendar.
Those pagan festivals began to be “Christianized” in the year 350, when Pope Julius I declared December 25 to be Christ’s birthday. “The Nativity gradually absorbed or supplanted all other solstice rites,” says the Encyclopedia of Religion. “Solar imagery came increasingly to be used to portray the risen Christ (who was also called Sol Invictus), and the old solar disk . . . became the halo of Christian saints.”
What the Bible says: The Bible does not give Jesus’ birth date. But we can safely conclude that he was not born on December 25. How so? The Bible tells us that when Jesus was born, shepherds were “living out of doors” tending their flocks at night in the vicinity of Bethlehem. (Luke 2:cool The cold, rainy season usually began in October, and shepherds—especially in the colder highlands, such as those around Bethlehem—brought their sheep into protected shelters at night. The coldest weather, sometimes accompanied by snow, occurred in December.*
Significantly, the early Christians, many of whom had accompanied Jesus in his ministry, never celebrated his birth on any date. Rather, in harmony with his command, they commemorated only his death. (Luke 22:17-20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26) Still, some may say, ‘Does the pagan connection really matter?’ The answer? It does to God. “The true worshipers will worship the Father with spirit and truth,” said Jesus Christ.—John 4:23.
(2) The “Wise Men”—How Many? Who Were They?
The custom: Guided by a “star” from the east, three “wise men” are portrayed as presenting gifts to Jesus in a manger in a stable. Sometimes shepherds are also shown as being present.
Its roots: Aside from the brief account in the Bible, “everything written about the Wise Men stems principally from legend,” says The Christmas Encyclopedia.
What the Bible says: The Bible does not say how many “wise men” visited Jesus. There may have been two, or there may have been three, four, or more. Although termed “wise men” in some Bible translations, the original-language word is magoi, which means astrologers or sorcerers—professions that the Bible says are “detestable to Jehovah.” (Deuteronomy 18:10-12) By virtue of their long journey from the East, the astrologers did not arrive in time to visit Jesus in the stable. Rather, after perhaps months of travel, they “went into the house” where Jesus was staying. There they saw “the young child with Mary its mother.”—Matthew 2:11.
(3) What Sort of Star Led the Astrologers?
Clues are provided by what the star actually did. For one thing, it did not lead the men directly to Bethlehem, but to Jerusalem, where their inquiries about Jesus reached the ears of King Herod. Herod then “secretly summoned the astrologers,” who told him about the newborn “king of the Jews.” Herod then said: “Make a careful search for the young child, and when you have found it report back to me.” Herod’s interest in Jesus, however, was anything but noble. Rather, this proud and ruthless ruler was resolved to put Jesus to death!—Matthew 2:1-8, 16.
Interestingly, the “star” now led the astrologers south to Bethlehem. There “it came to a stop” above the house where Jesus was.—Matthew 2:9, 10.
Clearly this was no ordinary star! And why would God, who had used angels to inform humble shepherds of Jesus’ birth, now employ a star to guide pagan astrologers—first to Jesus’ enemy and then to the child himself? The only reasonable conclusion is that the star was a sinister device of Satan, who is capable of such manifestations. (2 Thessalonians 2:9, 10) Ironically, an ornament called the star of Bethlehem is usually seen at the very top of the Christmas tree.
(4) What Does Santa Claus Have to Do With Jesus and His Birth?
The custom: In many lands, Santa Claus is viewed as the one who brings children gifts.* Children often write to Santa, asking for presents, which, according to tradition, elves help him to make at his North Pole headquarters.
Its roots: According to the popular view, the Santa Claus myth owes its origin to Saint Nicholas, Archbishop of Myra in Asia Minor, now Turkey. “Virtually everything written about St. Nicholas is based on legends,” says The Christmas Encyclopedia. The designation “Santa Claus” may owe its origin to the word Sinterklaas, a corruption of the Dutch terms for “Saint Nicholas.” Historically and Biblically, Santa Claus has nothing in common with Jesus Christ.
What the Bible says: “Now that you have put away falsehood, speak truth each one of you with his neighbor.” Our closest ‘neighbors’ are our family members. (Ephesians 4:25) The Bible also says that we should “love truth,” “speaking the truth in [our] heart.” (Zechariah 8:19; Psalm 15:2) True, telling children that Santa (or the Christ child) is the bearer of presents at Christmas may seem to be innocent fun, but is it right or wise to deceive little children, even if one’s intentions are not bad? Do you not find it ironic that an occasion that is supposedly meant to honor Jesus becomes a time to deceive children?
(5) How Does God View Christmas Gift-Giving and Merrymaking?
The custom: Christmas giving is unusual in that it largely involves an exchange of gifts, and the Christmas season is marked by partying, feasting, and drinking.
Its roots: Ancient Roman Saturnalian festivities began on December 17 and concluded on the 24th, when gifts were exchanged. Homes and streets were noisy with banqueting, heavy drinking, and riotous behavior. The Saturnalia was followed by an event celebrating the first day of January. This was also observed by a festival, usually lasting about three days. The Saturnalia and the first day of January likely formed one festive occasion.
What the Bible says: Joy and generosity characterize true worship. “Be joyful, you righteous ones; and cry out joyfully,” the Bible says. (Psalm 32:11) Such joy is often associated with generosity. (Proverbs 11:25) “There is more happiness in giving than there is in receiving,” said Jesus Christ. (Acts 20:35) He also said: “Practice giving,” or make it a regular part of your life.—Luke 6:38.
Such giving has little in common with ritualized giving or giving that is compelled, perhaps by social custom. Describing the true spirit of generosity, the Bible states: “Each person should give as he has decided for himself; there should be no reluctance, no sense of compulsion; God loves a cheerful giver.” (2 Corinthians 9:7, The New English Bible) Those who heed these excellent Bible principles give because their generous heart impels them to do so, which can be at any time of the year. To be sure, this kind of giving has God’s blessing, and it is never burdensome.
A Counterfeit!
When examined in the light of the Bible, virtually every facet of Christmas is either pagan in origin or a distortion of the Bible accounts. Hence, Christmas customs are Christian in name only. How did this come about? Centuries after the death of Christ, many false teachers arose, just as the Bible had foretold. (2 Timothy 4:3, 4) Those unprincipled men were more interested in making Christianity fashionable to the pagan masses than they were in teaching truth. Hence, they gradually adopted popular pagan religious festivals and labeled them “Christian.”
Such “false teachers,” the Bible warned, “will exploit you with counterfeit words. But as for them, the judgment from of old is not moving slowly, and the destruction of them is not slumbering.” (2 Peter 2:1-3)
SOW WEEDS, REAP WEEDS
At one time, church authorities fought “tooth and nail against [the] relics of heathenism,” says the book Christmas Customs and Traditions—Their History and Significance. But in time, church leaders became more eager to fill pews than teach truth. Hence, they began to “wink at” those pagan practices. Later they embraced them.
‘What you sow you reap,’ the Bible says. (Galatians 6:7) After sowing their fields with the seeds of paganism, the churches should not be surprised that “weeds” proliferate. A celebration allegedly honoring the birth of Jesus becomes an excuse for drunkenness and revelry, the shopping mall becomes more popular than the church, families go deeply into debt buying presents, and children confuse myth with reality and Santa Claus with Jesus Christ. Yes, for good reason, God said: “Quit touching the unclean thing.”—2 Corinthians 6:17. Let me add something quite similar of which those who give in to the "Christmas celebration" can understand. While Moses was up on the mountain receiving God’s laws, the people were getting anxious down on the plain. Moses spent forty days (Exodus 24:18) up on the mountain with God, and by the end of that time, the people were beginning to think Moses had died or left them. The people urged Aaron, their temporary leader, to make gods for them to follow. Since they were accustomed to having visual representations of gods, this was the natural (but sinful) result of their thinking. Aaron took their gold earrings, which they had brought from Egypt, and melted them down to make a golden idol. The idol he crafted for them was a calf, but Aaron maintained the name of the Lord in connection with it (Exodus 32:5). He was merging the pagan practices they were familiar with and the worship of the God they were just beginning to be re-acquainted with. Aaron called the people together and told them that the golden calf was the god who delivered them from Egypt. The people offered sacrifices and then engaged in pagan rituals, including orgies (Exodus 32:25) to worship this new god. Why did Aaron do this? Scripture doesn’t give us the full answer, but we can put certain clues together and get a fairly good picture. First, the people’s long familiarity with idol worship would incline them to follow that method in the absence of clear direction otherwise. It is likely that the people had not yet received the commands against idol worship, since Moses was yet to come down with the tablets of the law. Second, they were already in the habit of merging their beliefs with those of the people around them, a practice that would continue to plague them throughout the kingdom years. Third, Aaron was faced with an unruly crowd that placed a demand on him. The solution of making an idol and calling it by God's name seemed fairly reasonable. Why did he choose a calf/bull? His lame excuse to Moses—“It just came out of the fire like this!” Exodus 32:24)—was just a feeble attempt to dodge blame. He fashioned it with a graving tool (Exodus 32:4) and took great care to form it that way. Some have tried to show that the bull represented one of the gods of Egypt, but that doesn’t fit the text, because Aaron called a feast to the Lord (Yahweh) and said that it was the god(s) which brought them out of the land of Egypt. The bull was a symbol of strength and fertility, and the people were already familiar with bull gods from Egypt. Bulls were also typical animals of sacrifice, so to use their image as a symbol of the god being worshiped was a natural connection. Aaron’s bull was a mixture of the powerful God who delivered the people through mighty works and the pagan methods of worship that were borrowed from the people around them. Even though there are reasonable explanations for why Aaron and the people began to worship the golden calf, those explanations do not excuse the sin. God certainly held the people accountable for their corruption (Exodus 32:7–10) and was ready to destroy them for their sin. Moses’ personal intercession on behalf of his people saved them. Moses indicated that Aaron at least should have known that his actions were sinful (Exodus 32:21) and didn’t let him off the hook. As with any other sin, the punishment is death, and the only proper response is repentance. Moses called for those who were on the Lord’s side to come stand with him (Exodus 32:26). The Levites stood with him and were commanded to go through the camp and kill anyone who persisted in the idolatry. Three thousand men were killed that day. The above is all about religious syncretism (blending religious practices). As Christians we should not mix our beliefs with that of the world (we are not a part of the world) no matter how sweet our reason may sound. We do not borrow ideas like we have some churches do; ritualistic repetition of prayers, masquerades in religious ceremonies etc. |

Of course, those proselytes did not serve in the inner courtyard, where the priests performed their duties. And members of the great crowd are not in the inner courtyard of Jehovah’s great spiritual temple, which courtyard represents the condition of perfect, righteous human sonship of the members of Jehovah’s “holy priesthood” while they are on earth. (1 Peter 2:5)
The (above) excerpt of the watchtower write up was simply stating that during the times of the apostles and the existence of the temple priests, members of the great crowd were not allowed in the inner courtyard of Jehovah's Temple. But in John's message they are.
Only a humble and trustworthy person would admit his errors and even publicly print such for all to see and refer to (the Bible also holds records of men after God's heart who recorded their folly for posterity to learn from).
The truth about tithing is being exposed but would those denomination concerned accept their error and make public their change?
It takes one who loves God to do that. |

The watchtower did admit that they worshipped in the temple or sanctuary. Read below, the final paragraph from the excerpt of the watchtower magazine you referred to!
"Of course, those proselytes did not serve in the inner courtyard, where the priests performed their duties. And members of the great crowd are not in the inner courtyard of Jehovah’s great spiritual temple, which courtyard represents the condition of perfect, righteous human sonship of the members of Jehovah’s “holy priesthood” while they are on earth. (1 Peter 2:5)
But as the heavenly elder said to John, the great crowd really is in the temple, not outside the temple area in a kind of spiritual Court of the Gentiles. What a privilege that is! And how it highlights the need for each one to maintain spiritual and moral purity at all times!"

In all of these people, I did not see a self righteous Pharisee. Thank you
Please read your bible and tell me if I'm wrong. Thank you. Thank you sooooooo much for imputing knowledge unto the op's folly. They don't read the scriptures and even when they don't, they still refuse those who do to tell them the truth. The truth is what Freeze Spoke and that's why it is being heard. The truth is known when spoken and never hides for long. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Is The Deeper Life Bible Church A Cult ? by xaggar(m): 12:26pm On Dec 16, 2017 |
Ranchhoddas: You always type like a robotic computer programme.
But on this topic you have spoken like a human being and have taken time to address his points. This means you were really affected by the OP. It also means there is some truth in what the OP has said.
That you think every member must know how to spell your pastor's name further buttresses his claims about the cultic nature of your organization. At last we now know that Ola Adegbu (OLAADEGBU) is a deeper life member. Reading your reference to his comment, I felt he was seriously pained by it. Now he knows how it feels when Jehovah's witnesses are criticized by his "cult claims" on them. |
