Stephansmily: I hate it when I come here and see you guys always comparing dentistry to medicine and surgery and trying to pit doctors and aspirants in both fields against each other.
From your write up, you acknowledged the fact that dentistry is a branch of medicine yet was still oblivious of the fact that they are called doctors too seeing the way you only used the term to refer to those who studied medicine and surgery. He receives a pay Cheque same as MDs? and doesn’t know that dentists go on strike too .
We can convince aspirants to apply for either medicine and surgery or dentistry without bringing in unnecessary comparisons between both fields. You've said it all ma'am. I think the dude is quite insecure and still unsure of the path to chose...I sense fear of not being able to get Medicine. Zeeknow3245, I think by this time, you should have been able to come to a concrete decision. This back and forth of yours would do you more harm than good. If you're feeling uncertain about your chances, come out plain and people would help you get it right. So many persons didn't get Medicine at the first trial...Being one of those persons isn't something to be ashamed about. You've succeeded in mentioning all Health-related courses but still unsatisfied... Pick one and be Firm. |

Zeeknow3245: U said that you are in 100 level abi? Come on don't spill rubbish you are a pre-med student not a medical student yet. Don't complain they switched your course to biochemistry or Anatomy. Even Ebsu medicine is safer than UYO. I prefer to go to a school with 75 quota and above than going for one with 50. We must be watchful. Although I pray you will scale through You should focus on your post utme and get into school o. This your plenty plenty information about all Nigerian Medical schools would do your no good. It's His choice not yours. |

Zeeknow3245: Yep I will choose chemistry anyday over biochemistry. Lol Do you know chemistry is harder than biochemistry and With a bit of chemistry, biochemistry will be a childs play. Besides chemists work virtually every. From pharmaceuticals,to cosmetics,to brewry to ..... A foundation of chemistry will make you know biochem. Besides Biochem is much of a waste in naija. Recall there is, organic, analytic, industrial chemistry. Have you done either or them? |

Pocohontasboo: lol and explain me how UI is more attractive than Uniben Lol... I personally liked the school Sha so I'm a bit biased towards it but "likeness" isn't enough. Then in my sec school,UI was The School. So it came naturally... But UniBen had my state as catchment and I wasn't willing to throw that away. Medicine and Dentistry is fine in any of the accredited Schools. |
Education › Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by Xandre: 10:25pm On Jun 16, 2020 |
Pocohontasboo: You made a lot of sense, Uniben admitted 140 students last session, I think this number should include DE. But UI admitted 168 students, so you may not actually be wrong to say UNIBEN is more deadly than UI. Take your time to pick a School. If you're from South-South,you have catchment to fall back to if you eventually do not meet up with the merit cut off in UniBen. Same cannot be said of UI...A few decimals off the cut off and you're almost left with nothing. UniBen quota is now 150 so you have a great chance if you can just do fairly well in the putme. Meanwhile UI is pretty attractive |
