Rivers State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has called on Rivers people and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to resist the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) from manipulating and rigging the 2015 general elections in the state.

Amaechi stated this Friday during the joint graduation of students of University of Ibadan and Pioneer graduands of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education held at Rumuolumeni, in Port Harcourt.
He also expressed fears that if the PDP is allowed to rig and manipulate the election and President Jonathan is voted into office in 2015, poverty and underdevelopment will crumble the state.

According to him, “Now that, you are graduates, you are now eligible voters that can use your voters’ card to change society. Ask yourselves this question that I have always asked Rivers people. What have we (Rivers people) done to President Jonathan that he has refused to bring any project to Rivers State. We had to fight them before they could do the East-West road. I had to abuse the federal government and they abused me back, before they could do the work you now see on that road. Our President, from the South-South have taken our oil wells from Soku in Rivers State to Bayelsa State. What about the 41 oil wells in Etche that was given to Abia State? Is the President or his wife from Abia State? Why do they want us to suffer? If President Jonathan comes back to power in 2015, Rivers State economy will crash”, Amaechi said.

The State Chief Executive frowned at the consistent shortfall in oil revenue and the negative impact it has created to frustrate innocent Nigerians and urged the graduands to question the inconsistencies of the federal government.

“Graduands like you have the opportunity to ask the federal government to explain what they are doing with our money. Since September this year, federal government have not been able to pay any state from the federal allocation. They said, they don’t have money. [/b]This is the first time that our President is emerging as the 6th richest person in Africa”, Amaechi said.[b]





Amaechi equally tasks the graduands to register as eligible voters ahead of the 2015 general elections.He further blamed the failure of the Rumuolumeni road construction project to an indigene of the area and described Nyesom Wike as a Minister who was incompetent.

“I told the people of Rumuolumneni that we have awarded N1.5 billion for their internal roads and have also paid the indigenous contractor who is from the area the sum of N700 million. We said, Rivers money for Rivers people, because they don’t have capital. This man took the contract and gave it to a man who now wants to be governor. This man that is been backed by the Mrs Jonathan gave N250 million to the indigenous contractor and disappeared with N450 million without constructing the road. And this is the man who wants to be governor, with billboards screaming the concept of New Vision. What kind of vision is that for a thief? They have been thieves for too long so it cannot be new vision. The only thing that is new is that he has industrialized stealing. The former Minister of State for Education in a radio interview said, he ‘shedded tears’. Everyone knows there’s no word like that. ”

Governor Amaechi also reminded the graduands on the role his administration played to stop militancy in the state and further assured that the Rumuolumeni and Rumpirikon roads will be completed.

“Remember, when I became governor, I fought militancy. Right there where you built a new house, there used to be a hole where they pass into the river and escape. The security report reached me and I came here and chased the militants away. I asked them to fence the school premises and block that hole. I have to protect you because, it is my responsibility. Some of the militants went to Lagos, Ivory Coast, Ghana etc. Today, they are back because the wife of the President brought them back to protest against me. I refused to give them money in Abuja because, if I do that, I won’t be able to carry out any development project or finish the road from Rumuolumeni to Rumuepirikom. The quarrel between me and the wife of the President is because she said I should bring your money, Rivers people money and share with her”, Amaechi explained.





Amaechi also stated his administration’s commitment to promote teacher education as a veritable tool for educational development.

“However, achieving quality education would be a mirage if teacher education, as a sub-sector, is not given deserved attention. Indeed, the success of an educational enterprise depends to a large extent on the availability of quality teachers in our schools. The Ignatius Ajuru University before it was upgraded to a University was established for the primary purpose of training teachers. It is expected to produce highly qualified teachers to teach school subjects at all levels of education; produce high-calibre scholars that would promote the growth and development of sound educational system and generally enhance the improvement of teaching standards. You can only meet these expectations by showing a high level of dedication and commitment to your career by demonstrating a high sense of responsibility in carrying out this important duty”, Amaechi said.

Truly, human isnt treating its environment (earth) well. But I still think it is unfair to attribute climate change to man's existience. As i earlier stated, the climate has always been changing and it will continue to change (with or without man).Even before man, the earth environment has gone through a period of excessive warming, which is quite warmer than what we "believe" to be withnessing, also, ice age, the earth has aswell had a much more rise in her sea level, etc.

About the ban on CFCs. It was just immidiately after the CFC ban that the so called scientists come up with the issue of CO2 being a potent GHG. I still but womder why CO2 is considered a pollutant and O2 isnt. Isnt that also being unfair to the plants if we reduce what they their life depends on?

Climate change in my opinion is real but overhyped (not that bad as it's made to seem via media). When the normal yearly weather pattern is inconsistent with the years before or after a particular year then the climate has changed.
I do however, have a problem with the way scientists say 'we have used up the earth's water resources in a year, meant to last 10 years' or 'we have drained in 2 years the vital minerals needed to sustain the earth from collapsing in year 2067' etc! Story! I believe for a fact that the population of the world is too much for a few to control, hence the need for population control via scientific and man made measures as climate change, disease, wars, poverty, famine, hunger etc.
In a nut shell, some selfish individuals and top organizations are ripping and phyphoning 'naturist' and earth lovers huge sums through believing the world is coming to an end via global warming.

My friend, you need to feel how elated I am today. I am happy because many nairalanders despite diverse opinions and political inclinations, have deemed it worthwhile to jettison sentiments in overwhelmingly praising the president for these gestures. My instinct always tells me GEJ is a good man and a good president. There are some qualities in him that endears him to me every time. Like I have always said, Jonathan has his shortcomings as a human born of flesh, so do all of us as mortals. What matters most is whether our buts outweighs merits or vice versa. In the case of the president, his good sides far surpasses any negatives and that's a fact. I have seen so many presidents in Nigeria and other parts of the world, GEJ's humility and tolerance is second to non. Aside this, the nation needs a Godfearing leader in this trying moment of our history as a nation and GEJ fits the bill.

Couldn't have put it better Sir! Going through the pages of the thread and seeing an objective assessment from diverse platforms commending the president is new to me. Knowing the opposition figures and their "pull down the goverment of the day' attitude, one would think they would outrighly play the "hate" card in this timely and lovely gesture. If they be further unresolvable conflict in the African continent that could lead to a break up of a country or more, these troops would be quick to secure Washington vast interests in the African region. No surprise the U.S is sending in troops (Africom) knowing the wanton destruction by wars and proxy wars that looms around Africa. A new form of colonization via force using "terrorism" to make loop holes in sovereign nations they invade round the globe.
Gradually the 'masters' of the world are achieving their aims and objectives to reclaim Africa from the rising 'super' powers (China & Russia) that are threatning years of American and imperialist oppression and ownership of Africa.

Exactly my thoughts with the example you laid down there. Do note that it is not just Nigeria and Africa alone that would feel the effects. Other countries who have rebels would also partake in the use of the suplied arms to terrorize their various goverments. The arms released in syria are still in circulation today and more is on the way.

@ chanchit I haven't actually said Nigeria would be fighting against syria or for syria. What I had laid down is the effects and after effects of a war spring up in syria. There is a high possiblity that after the war stock piles of arms would be available for Nigeria to effect a slipt up as predicited by the C.I.A into a predominantly muslim north and a southern Christain side based on religious grounds.

The USA bombing syira without the support of the U.K and any other country would be a dire cirsumstance. If the syrians actually carry out their threat which is highly possible (to bomb the stated countries in the article) then this even would lead to a massive chaos within the middle east which would then spread into the african continent through large supplies of arms of both U.S and russia siding either sides of the war. This has always been their practise(Western nations) in most wars round the world. A case study can be drawn on that of libya which is still very fresh in our memorise (those into politics and foreign affairs) how the outflow of arms into other african countries supplied by the U.S. France et al and all the NATO sign up countires, empowered various rebelious and militias groups that sprang up in mali, congo and Nigeria just to mention a few. The U.S just has to be Wise and not go into this alone or better still use more effective diplomatic channels to end the conflict. But their economic,political and strategic intrest would let them humble themseleves. All this had bee planned lo ng ago. Because their involvement it might just be the begining of their down fall.
