Yoruba language is fast becoming Nigeria's most popular language... Funny enough Osimhen & Oshoala are Lagos-bred indigenes of Edo State but the way they both speak Yoruba language is second to none cheesy

The Yoruba land is gifted not just for its own people, but for the acceptance of others. I hope politicians and die-hard tribalists won't tear us apart as Nigerians.

God bless Nigeria.
Nice

Nigeria is one very fine country... it's just the politicians and religion extremists that are ruining the country for hypocritical and selfish reasons

I give it to the north.
Most of their roads are Very good.... within and outside the city. Dual/double lanes everywhere and less potholes

Although I know that the federal allocation is unfairly and highly given to northern states that contribute little to nothing to the federal government

Even the structures... buildings... roads... facilities in the universities and higher institutions of learning in the north are far better than what you find in the south, east and West.

Sports / Mesut Ozil 'suspended Indefinitely' From Fenerbahce Squad by xoftxoul: 4:33pm On Mar 24, 2022
Mesut Özil has been suspended with immediate effect by Fenerbahce, with the Turkish club sanctioning the former Arsenal man along with Turkish international Ozan Tufan.

Fenerbahce released a statement announcing that the 33-year-old had been suspended, which read: "Our Football A Team players Mesut Özil and Ozan Tufan have been excluded from the squad as per the decision taken. It is announced to the public."

Özil involved in a verbal altercation with the interim manager.
As reported by football.london, Özil has been suspended due to a verbal altercation with the club's interim manager.

The report adds that the altercation with interim manager Ismail Kartal occurred during the team's 2-1 home win against second-placed Konyaspor, when the midfielder was substituted at half-time.
It is also said that Özil and Tufan will not be allowed to train with the first-team ahead of their away fixture against Kayserispor this weekend.

The Süper Lig outfit were recently forced to deny that the former German international had effectively gone on strike due to a row over unpaid wages.

This came after Turkish broadcaster Volkan Demir suggested that his recent absences, which were supposedly due to a back injury, were actually due to a dispute over his salary.
However, Fenerbahce - who are reportedly more than £300million in debt - fired back at the claim, saying: "The news that Mesut Ozil did not play because his debts from the club were not paid have nothing to do with the facts.

Crime / Now Official In Wales: Smack A Child And Spend Five Years In Prison. by xoftxoul: 12:12pm On Mar 21, 2022
Wales has become the second UK nation to outlaw the physical punishment of children.

Anyone who smacks, hits, slaps or shakes a child while responsible for them could now face criminal charges in a move named ‘historic’.

It means youngsters will get the same protection from assault as adults and includes those visiting the country.

Parents and others could be charged with offences such as actual bodily harm, which carries a maximum prison sentence of five years.

Beforehand, smacking a child was unlawful, but allowed as long as it was seen as a ‘reasonable punishment’ – which is still the case in England and Northern Ireland.

Scotland joined around 60 other countries in banning physical punishment in November 2020.

Critics have argued the new law will criminalise parents, but First minister Mark Drakeford insisted ‘there is no place for physical punishment in a modern Wales’.

‘The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child makes it clear that children have the right to be protected from harm and from being hurt and this includes physical punishment’, he said.

‘That right is now enshrined in Welsh law. No more grey areas. No more “defence of reasonable punishment”. That is all in the past.’
The circumstances of each case were taken into account when using the previous common law defence of ‘reasonable punishment’.

This may have included the age of the child and the nature of the contact, whether the punishment left a red mark or was carried out with a fist or implement such as a cane or belt.

Viv Laing, from NSPCC Cymru Wales, has said: ‘Until now, children were the only group in our society who it was acceptable to strike in certain circumstances.

‘We don’t allow the physical punishment of adults or animals, so it is absurd that we have for so long with children. NSPCC Cymru/Wales has long been clear on this, and now, at last, the law is too.’

Travel / Kano Almost At Standstill As People Trek Around While Keke Drivers Are On Strike by xoftxoul: 9:47am On Jan 10, 2022
Businesses are disrupted this morning as inhabitants of Kano woke up to striking Keke drivers.

People can be seen trekking from one point to the other. The streets which are usually busy and filled with yellow colored keke are completely free of them this morning. In fact, the sight of the empty streets made Kano to appear like a local city.

The reason for the strike is the high and numerous fees they have to pay in order to ply the roads within the city in Kano.

Every nook and cranny is filled with agents collecting fees and other form of charges that the Keke drivers see as too much and too demanding. Also embedded in the strike is a message to the high handed treatment of the Keke drivers by the karota (the equivalent of Lagos's LASTMA).

I took a stroll to one of the major roads in Sabon Gari Kano, court road to take a picture. This is so unlike Kano... This road on a normal day is very very busy but alas! See how empty it is and you can see people trekking to work/business.

Hopefully this issue gets resolved/addressed quickly.
