Jobs/Vacancies › Re: What Is The Most Ridiculous Job Offer You Have Ever Received? by xrayz(m): 10:02am On Jul 17, 2019 |
LordAdam16: See this too many times, that maybe it's necessary to set the record straight.
Factory and warehouse jobs the world over are terrible. Go read accounts about minimum-wage workers in Amazon processing centers who have to pee in bottles to save time. That's a company with a $990b market cap.
This also explains why automation is seeing rapid growth in that sector, with the hope that the factories and warehouses of the future will not employ humans.
The question really is would you or anyone you know buy cabin biscuit for N40 apiece to help provide the "humane" working conditions you hastily propose for the factory workers? Or isn't this just the ironic conundrum that those who decry conditions regarded as representative of modern slavery are often the most price-conscious consumers.
Same individuals who'd go to a local eatery (commonly called mama put) and want a large serve of rice, beans, plantain, two large-sized cuts of meat all for less than $1 if possible. And then when they're told the worker is paid less than 10k monthly after "slaving" from 6 to 6, they begin fuming like they've ever tipped or make it a point to pay excess.
If you think you can run a factory that pays much better, gives lots of breaks, paid vacations, even maternity/paternity leave to low-skilled workers; while simultaneously offering low market price or even better undercutting the competition, paying off your double-digit loans timely, and providing double-digit returns to investors and shareholders; please write a business plan and I can guarantee you you'd become a billionaire in 5 years as capital will find you instead of the other way around.
Gala has been sold at 50 naira for over 10 years. In that same time minimum wage has risen from 9800 to 30000, and NGN/USD rate has risen from 100/$ to 360/$. Now if UAC says they want to increase the price to 150 to match the wage and rate increase; how many of you would buy?
This is the type of economic illiteracy that leads to the election of nutjobs like Buhari and AOC.
There's no emotion in the jungle or the real world. Employers do not just arbitrarily choose what to pay workers, the market determines what to pay workers.
That is why entry doctors in Nigeria earn $6000 while their mates in the US earn 6 figures. The difference however is that while childbirth by CS in Nigeria stays below $800 in total; in the US, it goes for about or over $10k (you can check the giving birth thread on NL). In fact, a woman was quoted $877,000 after having triplets. Heart transplants can reach 7 figures.
I'd like to see people proffer solutions on how to address wage inequality without the emotional-laden diatribes. That last bit disgusts me! Bros I'm gonna take u on this.you mentioned gala, have you taken ur time to check the quantity and quality of gala now compare to d period u quoted? UAC adjusted both in quality and quantity to meet up with all the economic changes u mentioned and that is d smartest move rather than tampering with price which will be very obvious and counter productive.(2) Nigeria runs an open market (capital economy) that is to say, producers in often times decide what to produce, how to produce it when and where to produce it even for who to produce it hence they also determines who to employ. This simply means that once a producer have a target on production quantity in a period of time with profit inclusive, there is every tendency he will maximise it, now tell me sir, what stops such producer to pay his workers well since those are all captured in every production plan?remember there is no limit to d sales and profit he will make (forget about d profit in unit price, concentrate on demand).modern slavery is when we believe that unskilled labourers has nothing to offer in production line hence they are poorly treated but in a country like nigeria where humans do almost all d odd jobs, we should have a rethink.

Bolustical: Now that things went PDP's ways
a) Democracy isn't in danger
b) Judiciary is no longer controlled by the Buhari
c) Justice Mohammed Tanko is no longer a puppet to the Presidency.
d) Judiciary is the hope of the common man.
But when things go sour, the aforementioned becomes non-existent.
To believe that a judiciary that gave negative judgment that led to the losses of APC in Rivers and Zamfara states is controlled by Buhari is nothing but foolishness.
I just hope we believe in our institutions for once and that their decisions may not always favour our parties. Bro, things should never go sour at any time. The right thing should always be done, going sour means compromise. |

Kolping: Nsukka – The contest for the 15th Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN, has, today, ended with Prof. Charles Igwe emerging the new VC.
Igwe, who jostled for the position with other 64 professors, emerged the best after a thorough screening constituted by the UNN Governing Council. He is a professor of Soil Science, Faculty of Agriculture.
Confirming the development, the Deputy Registrar of the Governing Council, Charles Ebizie, however said that Prof. James Ogbonna came second while Prof. Cyprian Onyeji took the third position. He described the processes that produced Igwe as free and fair.

Prof. James Ogbonna is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics, University of Nigeria and is from Enugu State. Prof. Cyprian Onyeji is the former Vice-Chancellor of Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), Enugu and is from Enugu State. This is what happens when we bring bad politics into every thing we do, a true replica of what is going on in the country. All these while, pro.Ogbonna was never mentioned among d front runners but from no where, he was named the VC.what do I know ?maybe we should ask d outgoing prof how his brother succeeded him. |

I wonder if Onoghe is reading anything before he delivers any judgement. If yes, his fat cheek doesn't support that..Him, Atiku, Saraki and Wike somehow bear resemblance...I can't say if they have similar characteristics. Let me leave his matter. I kept Wondering where corrupt people we run to when Buhari wins, some of them will swim from here to Ghana. I thank God for his infinite mercy that kwara is a landlock state, Saraki can't swim to anywhere. If he decided to go to Lagos and find an escape route, he will be nabbed before getting to ogbomosho or osogbo( which ever route he takes). He will be sentenced to life imprisonment, and both primary and secondary school students will be going on an excursion to visit him and their teachers will be telling them that if you are an armed robber or thief, this is how you life will end. This will go along way to inculcate discipline in to our younger generation. Looks like my prophecy, I'm not a prophet. Happy Sunday to our dear wailers.#aproudzombies. Sai Baba till 2023. chosengocap: If the President can remove a Chief Justice based on a "court order".....then he can also remove ALL Supreme Court Judges and the INEC Chief... The President can also replace the entire elected Legislature with "court orders" The Governors can also remove State Chief Judges... The world will not end in 2019..... Be careful what you condone in 2019. My own is to post my thought exactly, imagine where such is replicated at other levels of government that means at anytime any executive sees that judgement is not going to his favour he quickly frame d chief judge of one thing and removes him, then tell me how we can get justice??What all these political supporters fail to understand is that this act goes beyound APC and PDP its all about what the common man will loose in future.we should be careful so that what we support today will not come to hunt us tomorrow. |

ArcFresky: Tbh PMB is surrounded by enemies... Senate (Saraki), Judiciary ( Onnoghen), House of reps, Former DSS chairman...
I think the man is trying, but he is too old, no more mental and physical strength.
But why is everyone suddenly calling PMB a dictator, in saner climes, when you have millions that you can't account for, you resign.. Especially when you hold an office that should be impeccable.
Onnoghen implicated himself by claiming mistake in forgetting millions in his account, automatically tainting him and rendering all his previous, present and future actions as CJN questionable and subject to challenges in law courts.
Some actions are not legal but are ethical, because it beats my imagination that Onnoghen wants to be tried in court by people he appointed to court, what nonsense.
Although am not in support of PMB's actions, but somethings require a different approach.
Remember, everything Hitler did was illegal. Bro, the problem here is not removing the CJN but how he was removed. This is going to set a bad precedence in our democracy. I don't support corruption but due process should be followed. |

Crime › The Help I Rendered To Her Nearly Ruined My Life. by xrayz(op): 12:25pm On Jan 13, 2019 |
On 23rd December last year, just as every one with their families were preparing for Christmas celebration, my own took a different turn because the devil came visiting so I was disorganized and my dream shattered but God proved himself once more to me. Just about 2 am that very day, there was a heavy bang on my front door, my heart nearly disappeared because i was not expecting anybody by that odd hour. 'Who is there'? I asked with a very faint voice, 'open the door..!!' Who is ordering me to open the door by this time of d night i was wondering, "i said open d door or we will break it", this time i know something is up so i walked close to the door and politely asked " please, who is there”? Now the answer came" we are police officers, we have our warrant, so we are here for an official assignment, immediately i opened the door. I demanded to see there ID card through the protector, after that process, i allowed them in. officer: are you Mr........? I said yes, where are your phones?, i gave them, this time they started searching the whole house, they ordered everybody in the house out to the parlor, on the process of the search they saw my identity card, i was asked again, "why is the name in your ID card different from the name we called earlier"? I told them the first name they mentioned was my nicks and i was fond of it back then in school, i even have an obsolete face book account to the name. Immediately, they became more aggressive with me, " Oga, na him, na him, na there way, make we carry am", beloved, that was when and how my story changed. I demanded to know what was going on instead of explanation, what I got rather was a dirty slap, this time i know it was no longer a joke. I was placed under arrest and I was asked to stretch out my hands for hand cuff. I pleaded to be allowed to walk down to there vehicle because I cant run, even with my work, some one like me can not invade arrest because I cant hide easily without been caught. Already neighbors are all out on there balconies watching what was going on, just to reserve some dignity but to no avail. Rather they threatened to bundle me. This time, everyone in the house started demanding to know my offence but the officers wouldn’t say hence I was taken away.
Getting to the office, I was asked to sit on the floor, still looking surprised and frightened, everyone that passes will ask “na ehm be this”? Others will chorous “na him”one of them even went as far as given me a very explosive slap as if that was not enough he was calling me armed robber, armed robber in fact i have to shout at him, warning him to stop calling me an armed robber after all, I have not been told why I was arrested. Just as I was still talking, heaven was let loose. U need to see hip of insult and abuse from all of them inside the room immediately I kept quiet before another slap will order me to. After several hours that day, I was taken to another office where I was asked to sit on a chair facing a very tough looking man, Immediately the man introduced him self as inspector lawal(not real name) he asked me if he should address me as mr A or B as they discovered that the name in my identity card is different from the one they saw in some of my profile and few unofficial documents, I immediately asked him to call me Mr.’ A' which is my real name. Now the conversation Insp.lawal:where was he kept, in short how many of you were involved, if u help us to get others we will free you .Now I was getting more confused . Me: please sir what are you talking about? Insp.Lawal,:do u know why u are here? Me: no sir. Insp Lawal, :so when u kidnapped mr Falomo(not the real name), you never knew u will be arrested?or u think u can hide forever?Immediately I heard ‘ kidnap' I have to bite my skin to make sure i'm not dreaming but I tell u, it was real. As he was talking he brought out my phones and some document telling me its my call log from my network provider and the number there is my own I said yes. He said I placed a call on a particular day telling d family of a kidnapped victim that i'm in position to collect ransom, I was still confused, but the phone number is mine however, I never placed such call, that means there is a mix-up somewhere. I asked him the date again, he mentioned it so I have to think very fast on my activities that day. That particular day was the day I travelled from Abuja to lagos via air peace airline, immediately I remembered I gave a lady my phone to make call when we landed in Lagos. I asked for the time of the call, and it was exactly the same time the lady made the call. So I narrated to him what happened. The lady in question used my phone to make that call actually but I gave her the phone because she told me she is not with her phone and she needed to contact the person that will pick her from the airport though I some how doubted her because I was like how can a big girl like you travel without a phone or was she trying to avoid me demanding for her number because we have being charting while airborne because she was sitting right beside me.But when she made the call, she only told d person at the other end that she is der now waiting, they should make sure they adhere to her initial directive, that was all she said so who would have suspected she was sending a message for a ransom to be brought that she is at the discussed location. Though I tactically snapped her with my second phone front camera when she was making the call without her consent, it was just for no reason but I just did it to satisfy an urge which turned out to help me later .After I narrated this to the officer, he switched on my phone and saw the girls picture. After much questions and answers I was taken to the cell.
I spent days in d cell, but when I was finally released, there was a great joy but guess who was missing in the house? My fiancee , where is sussy (not real name) I asked, my niece told me brother forget oo, that girl don finish you, she went about telling people how God saved her from a kidnapper who wanted to marry her. Infact she ‘don run comot since’. Tears ran down my cheeks. Little wonder neighbors never celebrated my return, some seems not happy that they saw me even. Immediately, I dialed her number but she never picked after several attempt, later on that day, she called back and told me not to call her line again. She claimed that the police told her everything, that I am a pretender who wanted to ruine her life but God delivered her, all my effort to calm her and bring her back to reality proved abortive, at this time, my pain became more severe. My niece walked close to me where I was seated and told me what happened, why she came to such conclusion.
Nelly, my niece told me that after I was arrested, they visited the police station severally but were denied access to see me but one day, a police officer who claimed to be concerned told them to go home and stop worrying that my case is a very strong one, that I was involve in a kidnapping case, Infact, he claimed that I was the gang leader. It was at this point that my supposed fiancee fled. Nelly said she knew something doesn’t seem right because she knew me quiet well. She believed in me that I can not do such so she remained resolute while my fiancee went on to spoil my name every where including social media telling people the wrong side of the story.
How I was released. Trust Nigeria police, after all their investigation it was ascertained that i was innocent yet they asked me to pay one hundred and fifty thousand naira for bail. Due to what I have passed through already I said I wont pay any money for bail after all, bail is free and I am innocent, the police rather should be paying me for accusing me wrongly. At the end of the day, I involved a lawyer and the case was taken to court. At the end of the day, I was released on bail on a considerable amount and my case adjoined to a later date for hearing. As if that was not enough, i quickly prepared and travelled the following day back to my location to resume work but I was denied access at the gate, in fact, the gate keepers took me to where a notice was pasted at the notice board directing d security men not to allow me any where close to the company. At this point, everything around me took a different shape. Readers, if u are interested on how this story ended just keep in touch. |
