Mr Price shouldn't put exclusive blame on Nigeria's business climate. After all, they closed their stores in both Australia and Poland earlier. They should rather learn how to run a sustainable business in many different climes simultaneously. |

In my humble opinion, I don't think this is feasible. Countries like France,Holland,Belgium, etc;with more robust economy stopped their sport leagues. So,why is Nigeria still trying to conclude the league,is it that essential, what's the economic benefit of it to the common man on the street? |

I love programming. I hate programming jobs generally. If I could program all day I would love my job. But generally I spend more time in meetings and process and chasing down other people's issues and getting stuck when systems I don't control stop working and I can't move forward. pls adapt, you can do it! You're talented. |

Surinamese4: Living among rich people is best for antisocials and introvert. Rich don't socialize Deep thinker, I hail. Disclaimer: not trying socialize, although necessary when needed. I could remember I once read on this platform that Dangote requested a meeting between himself and his neighbour; Otunba, and they weren't able to schedule a meeting for a while, because Otunba was so busy with business. I Believe they weren't upset with each other, because of mutual respect. They're both business savvy! |

covid2019: As noted elsewhere in my previous thread: https://www.nairaland.com/5829221/build-small-house-now-keep, I have been seriously considering building a house, but after a few inquiries and inspections, I discovered that I could only afford a land and build in remote area in my state.
The effect is that my neighbours and everyone in my vicinity will be of low income or lower middle class. This effect is seen in churches, schools etc around there too.
Personally, I don't care about this but my elder brother will not allow me to rest. According to him, "Nigga, you like village too much, leave that place," he is of the opinion that I should even leave the state entirely-- he is New York based anyway.
NOW, these thoughts have been in my subconscious mind, having subliminal effects on me.
Considering, that this great forum has people from all walks of life, I have decided to bring this issue here: TO WHAT EXTENT DOES ONE'S RESIDENT ENVIRONMENT AFFECT HIM especially with regard to finance.
Should I forget about building now-- since I can only afford to build in a remote area now-- and rent in a highbrow, upscale area?
What are the advantages or disadvantages of living among the rich.
Thanks. This a great topic! I brought a chair here to sit amongst the blessed. |

EVILFOREST: ...,. and not those BOYS QUARTERS Giant of Africa parade as UNIVERSITIES. UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN lost its Glory long ago. UI happens to be a University that entertained a lot of Africans and Europeans, including the Saudis. But see where it is today....
Imagine what would have become of NIGERIA if the WHITES had stayed back and run this country till 1995... Imagine the Edifice we would have been proud of. As usual our IMPATIENCE subdued us and we sought for INDEPENDENCE to early thinking say we don get sense, now see where we are today. ORDINARY UNITY we can't achieve. To Govern ourselves has become a Herculean Task.
Nothing to show since 1960 except DECADENCE. We think it's about having CRUDE OIL... What's the use of Crude Oil without Common Sense
NONSENSE... We weren't patient enough for complete modern civilization, even though some claims civilization started in Africa. |

Romance › Re: I Proposed To A Lady The First Time I Saw Her And She Accepted On The Spot by xxxXXXxxx: 3:26pm On Jun 01, 2020 |
opalu: I am Engr Abraham Opaluwa a Nairalander with Username OPALU.
In 2007 I knew a Lady schooling in the East who pleased me so well. Fair to look upon. I planned to propose to her on her Birthday to be my wife. So I needed a Cake Designer who could inscribe her name on a well crafted cake. I travelled back from Kogi to Ogun where I based then. On my way, my younger brother in Kogi State Uni texted me the number of "the best cake designer in the school" as he put it. So right away I called her and gave her the job description. To my shock, she said "I will do the cake free of charge for you". As a guy who left a highly demanding relationship few years earlier, it sounded strange. I said look young lady, I do not give what doesn't cost me to someone I love besides you do not know me. She insisted that the only condition for her to do the cake is that I won't pay a dime. After a time I reluctantly agreed seeing that the date was drawing near and I had to return to meet cake ready.
That was how after that day, I saw myself calling both the "real' lady in Caritas and also calling the Cake girl in KSU. If I didn't call both no sleep. But I discovered that whenever I call the real lady, I will loose my sleep due to her harsh and unfriendly words. She probably knew I was going to propose and began playing hard to get. Whenever I was downcasted, the Cake Lady will call and her words will make me happy before I could sleep. This happened repeatedly.
If you have had a fatal heartbreak before, I don't think you need harsh words... sincerely. That was how by the time I returned to Kogi, do you know that the lady I wanted to propose to had stopped picking my call? I had to call the Cake Lady to come to my house.
For the first time I looked upon her, I knelt down and proposed to her. She accepted right on the spot!! After we started courtship, I asked her why she agreed to do free cake for someone she hasn't known before or was that how she does business? She simply said that she had received in her heart just few days before I called that her husband was about to call her and had celebrated with her room-mates. So when I called, she needed to please me. She was just 21 years then in final year. We wedded the next year
Her name was Amalia and I changed her name to Sarah. Today, we are 8 years in Marriage with 3 lovely children. To God be the glory. I am posting this because it is her birthday Wow! This is lovely. May Almighty God continue to bless your union. |
Education › Re: Advice Needed: Is Going To The University Worth It Anymore? by xxxXXXxxx: 3:05pm On Jun 01, 2020 |
Eddykul: With the increased costs of going to the university, i am just wondering whether it is worth it any more. Stories about graduates struggling to find employment and with more and more alternative routes being developed, is it still worth getting a degree?
Is it true that there are so many graduates these days that employers are now looking for work experience?
Nowadays, it is the people that didn't not go through the university that are employing graduates. #FACT
Graduates are no more getting jobs like before when university was university, after spending so much time, spending money just to learn, you later come back to square one in becoming a business owner. #FACT
Most people are getting jobs on what they didn't even read in school just to earn a living.
Nowadays work that human beings are supposed to do, it being done by robots..
I am thinking of collecting my five years tution fees and also school hostel rent fee and course materials money from my parent to start up a business.
Is going to the university worth it anymore? it's essential to be learned, you'll realize it's a privilege! |
Celebrities › Re: Davido Displays Beautiful Interiors Of His House: New Banana Island Mansion by xxxXXXxxx: 1:41pm On Jun 01, 2020 |
adonainana: Hmm all I see here in marble tiles on the floor, white colour satin paint ( the most expensive ) and POP induced spot light ceiling
I think real estate investors are getting away with a lot of things oooo in this Nigeria
Like a lot of people are cashing in on the location to determine the price of a building as opposed to the actual price of the building
So for instance this building Davido is shouting up and down in now if it was built with exactly the same materials somewhere in ibafo would probably be worth 10 million maximum depending on the number of rooms
But since it’s on the island it’s worth 8,000 percent more, like same material used in building it, same cement, same labour , same POP cement ceiling, same lighting same
Perhaps the land may have been very expensive in banana island but trust the house once completed would just because it’s on the island worth way mor more
Some real estate developers are cashing in big big time, so in essence they are not cashing in on the actual building appreciating, they are cashing in on the location of where the actual building and people desire to do whatever it take to live there
I have supervised many house buildings in this my life, I have never seen anything like what is happening on the island in Lagos and in the ikoyi environs You made a valid point. Congrats to him tho. |
