Family / 6 Reasons Why You Need A Two-sided Mattress by Y4all: 2:57pm On Nov 04, 2021 |
Many argue that a flippable mattress, or a two-sided mattress, is superior to a single-sided bed. However, others might feel that a two-sided mattress isn’t superior to a traditional one-sided mattress. For those who argue that a two-sided mattress is inferior to a one-sided mattress. They hinged their argument on the assumption that a two-sided mattress lacks details, durability, and the comfort that you can expect from a traditional non-flippable mattress. Below we will go over a few of the reasons why investing in a 2-sided mattress has its perks. Two-Sided Mattresses Last Longer Compared to a “no flip” mattress, a double-sided mattress will last a while longer. When you rotate and flip the mattress on a regular basis, you allow the padding on the bottom side to recover, extending the life, comfort, and support of the mattress. They provide better Comfort Options Two-sided mattress comfort every double-sided mattress that we have on this page offers two sides of comfort that vary in feel between each side. Giving you not just one, but two firmness levels that not only let you decide between them initially but also allow you to change your mind. It might be in a few weeks or in a few years, but you have the option of going firmer or softer, depending on your preference at the time. Two-sided Mattresses gives Better Value Two-sided mattresses are normally offered at the same price or a little more than single-sided mattresses, but they provide a greater return on investment. So, the price for getting a two-sided mattress isn’t necessarily more, which makes it that much more appealing in that regard. Reduced Environmental Impact More and more importance is placed on the eco-friendliness of the two-sided mattresses, and understandably so. Double-sided mattresses tend to last longer than single-sided mattresses, you won’t need to replace it as often. This means you can reduce your environmental impact because it’ll take longer for your mattress to be sent to a landfill. High standards in terms of quality and wider options At Winco Foam, we offer mattresses with numerous filling choices. We provide mattresses that go through a high-quality production process with a variety of materials to choose from. The choice of materials you get at Winco Foam industries is available in only a few mattress stores nationwide. Two-Sided Mattresses provides better weight distribution Over time, one-sided mattresses can end up with deep body impressions that make it difficult to move or turn over. But flipping a double-sided mattress means you can improve weight distribution, and reduce the likelihood of body impressions ruining your comfort and support. To further give you an insight into what this review is all about, let us explore the Winco Dual Side Mattress WINCO DUAL SIDE ₦89,200.00 – ₦195,800.00 The Winco Dual Side mattress is a two-faced mattress that can be used on both sides. Health / Firm Or Soft Mattress For Back Pain: Which Is Best? by Y4all: 3:19pm On Nov 03, 2021 |
Sleep time is a crucial time when the body is able to recover and rejuvenate after a hectic workday. Unfortunately, the phenomenon of back pain among people has become even more widespread and this can negatively impact sleep quality. In recent times, this problem is not just experienced by the older population as it were. It has become even more prevalent among the young and vibrant population. Therefore, choosing the right mattress that can support the spine and promotes even alignment has become a dilemma for most back pain sufferers. However, in the past, doctors often recommended very firm mattresses for back pain problems. But experimental evidence has revealed that those who slept on very hard mattresses had the poorest sleep quality. The study observed that a firm mattress does not accommodate the natural curvature of the spine, and this may cause additional problems to the sleeper. On the other hand, soft mattresses can be problematic. Soft mattresses have the tendency of conforming to your body’s natural curves and perhaps sink the body in so deeply that the joints twist and become painful during the night. Moreover, now that so many products are in the market which are been touted as being “orthopedic”. They do not necessarily guarantee a solution to back pain problems. Which Mattress is the best for a Back pain Problem Experimental evidence reveals that a firm mattress is a poor choice for back pain and a soft mattress is no good. Now the question that begs for an answer is, what is the best mattress for a back pain problem? The best mattress for a bad back is of medium-firm density. While it is important not to have an overly firm mattress for a bad back. It is equally important that it is not too soft to support your body weight. An overly soft mattress will not support the body properly at all, allowing it to sink into the mattress too much. As a result, your back pain will worsen after sleeping on an extremely soft mattress. Instead, for those with a bad back, a medium-firm is considered the ideal middle ground: not too soft and not too firm. Health / 5 Reasons Why You Should Opt For Eco-friendly Mattresses by Y4all: 12:01pm On Nov 02, 2021 |
Some time ago, Comfort and price were the two most important variables to look out for when shopping for a new mattress. However, the new reality is that beyond comfort and price, the environmental friendliness of the mattress plays an important role in buyers’ criteria list. This choice has become imperative as plastic chemical pollutant continues to take a toll on the world and environmental impact is increasingly on consumers' minds. To neglect that reality means to be exposed to airborne particulates or chemicals dubbed volatile organic from flame retardants, and even solvents used in the glue or cotton and wool stuffing all of which can wreak havoc to our health and make our sleep environment more toxic. Eco-friendly mattresses are non-toxic mattresses that are made without materials that are harmful to the planet. As a result, these mattresses offer a good night’s sleep and have the added benefit of being safer for families. A green mattress is a win on two fronts with one purchase. Therefore, this review gives an insight into the reason why you should opt for Eco-Friendly Mattresses. Reasons Why you should opt for an Eco-friendly mattress All mattresses can be used for sleeping. However, there are some advantages that are only unique to an organic and eco-friendly mattress. Here are some of the benefits you can experience once you start using an organic and eco-friendly mattress Eco-Friendly Mattresses are Hypoallergenic For people with allergies or respiratory issues, organic mattresses often bring relief. Often, chemicals and pesticides used in traditional mattresses exacerbate these issues, so opting for a mattress free of these substances helps alleviate discomfort. Eco-friendly mattresses are also naturally resistant to dust, mold, and mites. This is one of the reasons why organic and eco-friendly mattresses are the perfect choice for people who are suffering from allergy problems and respiratory issues Eco-Friendly Mattresses Help Regulate Temperature An organic and eco-friendly mattress is made from materials that are natural temperature regulators. If you use this type of mattress, you’ll feel cool even during summer or warm nights. An organic and eco-friendly mattress also has special insulation capabilities and can provide warmth during cold weather. Eco-Friendly Mattresses Contain Few, If Any, Toxins Conventional mattresses often contain a wide range of toxins used in products such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs), formaldehyde, mercury, lead, phthalates. These chemicals are bad for the environment and your health. When you’re sleeping on a mattress, not only are you potentially breathing in these toxic substances, but your skin is possibly absorbing them as well. Opting for an organic mattress prevents you from coming in contact with these toxins and helps protect your health. Eco-Friendly Mattresses are more Durable and Comfortable Organic mattresses tend to be more durable than their traditional counterparts, in large part because the natural fibers and materials are less likely to break down over time. These mattresses can potentially last upwards of 20 years. Eco-friendly mattresses are made from natural cotton and latex materials are very comfortable to sleep on. These materials will give your body the support it needs so you can sleep without interruption. Bottom Line Opting for an eco-friendly organic mattress will not only prevent exposure to harmful toxins that can make you sick. With its extra durability features, you will save money in the long run. Now that you’re convinced that an organic and eco-friendly mattress is rewarding, Search no further because, at Winco foam industries, you are guaranteed a luxurious eco-friendly mattress for you and your family. Family / Why Your Pillows Deserve Better Attention by Y4all: 5:28pm On Oct 29, 2021 |
Pillows cover roughly 15% to 20% of the surface of the mattress. but pillows contribute as much as 50% to the sleep experience. However, more attention is given to mattresses as against pillows. Most people tend to speak about the quality of their mattresses in terms of their firmness, softness, and other qualities but little emphasis is placed on the importance of the pillow as a major component that drives a better sleep experience. More so, many people don’t realize that the type and quality of pillow they sleep on is just as important as the type and quality of mattress you sleep on. Your choice of a pillow may be the difference between a good night’s sleep that is free of pain and hassle and a restless night of soreness, neck, back pain, and even a headache. Indeed, it is a well-established fact that pillows work in concert with mattresses to provide proper body alignment and create a comfortable, supportive sleep environment. Some of Winco Foam exceptional Pillow include: Winco Memory pillow Winco Memory pillows are considered a very desirable type of pillow due to their resiliency. It has the ability to retain shape and enhance cushiness. Winco Memory pillows have been known to help relieve shoulder and neck pain that comes from sleeping on less responsive pillows. This range of pillows tends to return to their original shape easily and can stretch and conform to the curves of our bodies. E Description Widely called a Memory pillow because of its Viscoelastic Effect, the Memory pillow is a soft pillow that effectively Creates a matrix through which air can move freely. The foam has an open-cell structure that matches pressure against it with the capability of springing back to its original shape almost immediately alleviating pains and aches in the sleeper’s neck. Specification Fabric: quilted fabric Inner material: Memory Foam Size: industry standard size Colour: white Customizable: No Recommendation Recommended for everyone Highly recommended for people experiencing persistent neck pain every morning It can be used for use in hotels Highly recommended for use in hospital Suitable for the elderly. Elegant Pillows Made from high-quality fiber fillings covered with cotton textile and packaged to weigh 1kg. The fiber inside gives the neck very soft support resulting in very sound sleep. Description Our Elegant pillow is a soft fiber pillow made from fiber and high-quality cotton fabric, tailored to relieve pressure off your neck as you sleep-aiding you with the right neck support for a comfortable sleep. Made from high-quality fiber fillings covered with cotton textile and packaged to weigh 1kg. The fiber inside gives the neck very soft support resulting in very sound sleep. Specification Fabric: cotton fabric Inner material: fiber Size: Industry Standard Size Color: white Customizable: No Recommendation Recommended for everyone Suitable for lodge and guesthouses Recommended for students Appropriate for hotels use Highly recommended for the elderly Bottom Line For us at Winco, we acknowledge that comfort is a subjective term. What comfort is to one sleeper might be different from the comfort from another sleeper’s perspective. Factors like body size, the positions you sleep in and certain health conditions will most likely play a role in determining what type of pillow is most comfortable for you. But by and large, selecting the right pillow for you will be largely dependent on the position that you sleep in the most. For people who sleep on their back, a pillow that supports the natural curve of the neck is best. If you sleep on your side, you will want to find a pillow that keeps your neck straight. And if you sleep on your stomach, you would be best served by a thin pillow. Beyond sleeping position, choosing a pillow that will fill your needs is mostly about personal preference. Not only are pillows important for the role they play during our sleep, but it is also important to have a pillow that suits your individual needs. To get a pillow that will provide the most benefits, make support the key deciding factor when you are shopping for a pillow. A good pillow will not only improve the overall quality of your sleep but can also help you to avoid neck and back problems. Family / How Long You Should Sleep At Your Age by Y4all: 5:09pm On Oct 27, 2021 |
The quality of your sleep at night directly affects your mental and physical health and how well you feel during the day. Sleep impacts your productivity, emotional balance, brain and heart health, immune functionality, creativity, vitality, and even weight. No other activity delivers so many benefits with so little effort like sleep. Without enough hours of restorative sleep, you won’t be able to work, learn, create, and communicate at a level even close to your true potential. Therefore, knowing how long you should sleep at your age is one way of addressing any sleep problems you're likely to encounter. Meanwhile, enough hours of restorative sleep boosts your energy, efficiency, and your overall health will go up. In fact, you’ll likely get much more done during the day than if you were skimping on shuteye and trying to work longer. This review specifically looks at how long you should sleep at your age. Elderly People over 60years Based on recent studies, the elderly should be in bed before12’oclock every night. 7 – 8 hours of good sleep should be enough at night. According to data released, elderly people whose sleep is less than 7 hours per night can cause dementia and also increase the level of memory impairment in the elderly. Long-term sleep for more than 7 hours or lack of sleep can also lead to poor concentration or even Alzheimer’s disease. The most common sleep problems among the elderly are dreaminess and insomnia. Experts suggest that elderly people should make it a habit of taking a nap for about 1 hour daily especially if they experienced a poor night of sleep. Otherwise, the central nervous system of the brain will be slowly affected and the blood flow will be relatively truncated thereby making the body's metabolism decelerate. Adults between 30-60 years. According to the data, adult men need between 7-9 hours of sleep daily. It is also recommended that the ideal timeframe of sleep should be between 10 pm and 5 am during which they can easily reach a deep sleep state at this time. For people in this age bracket, sleep helps mostly to relieve fatigue. For adults, getting less than seven hours of sleep a night on a regular basis has been linked with poor health, including weight gain, having a body mass index of 30 or higher, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, and depression. Experts remind that the sleep environment of this age bracket needs to be conducive, the sleep environment should be without noise or interference, properly ventilated, and must have proper shading. People within this age bracket are advised to choose a well-elevated mattress and a moderately hard pillow. Adolescents between 13-29 years. Adolescents of this age are expected to have about 8-10 hours of night sleep. At this age, they must follow the principles of going to bed early and getting up early to ensure that they enter deep sleep around 3 o’clock at night. They must also try not to sleep late on weekends. Sleeping too long can disrupt the body’s biological clock, cause mental depression, and affect memory and eating disorders. Young people are more accustomed to staying up late, which will directly affect their mental state the next day, and easily cause skin damage, acne, and other skin-related problems. More so, staying up late for a long time may also affect the endocrine system and mental states. Therefore, the most important thing for young people of this age is to regulate their lives. Children aged 1 - 3years Children within this age bracket are required to sleep about 12 hours a day. The specific sleep time can be determined according to their own sleep habits. For example, some babies are accustomed to sleeping at noon or late in the afternoon. Babies of this age are prone to have their sleep frequently interrupted because they are too excited to play. Sometimes, they enter a state of sleep, but their brains are still active such as grinding their teeth or kicking the quilt. These will affect the baby’s brain and body development. Therefore, it is recommended that Parents give them a warm bath 1 hour before bedtime to relax their whole bodies. For kids of this age bracket, getting the recommended amount of sleep on a regular basis is linked to better health, including improved attention, behavior, learning, and memory, the ability to control emotions, quality of life, and mental and physical health. Babies under 1years old Babies under 1-year-old need the most sleep time. On average, babies in this age bracket should have about 16 hours of sleep. Sleep at this stage is a very important period for their growth and development. Therefore, Sleep time must be guaranteed. Most infant sleep problems are caused by calcium deficiency, fright during the day, and digestive disorders. In some cases, children can’t sleep well at night because they sleep too much during the day. So Parents should pay attention to calcium supplementation for their children. It is also necessary to ensure that the baby’s sleep at night is complete. It is not advisable to frequently feed or change diapers at night especially in the second half of the night In conclusion, Sleep needs vary from person to person and are often affected by a number of factors. It is important to pay attention to how you feel during the day to determine whether you’re getting the right amount of sleep for your body. However, if you’re sleeping enough, you should feel awake and energized during the day. If you find you’re sluggish or often tired, you may need to sleep more. To make the most out of bedtime, create good habits, such as minimizing your caffeine and alcohol intake, following a regular sleep schedule, and creating a comfortable sleeping environment with the right mattresses and bedding to reinvigorate you for a more productive day. Health / 5 Ways To Tell That Your Mattress Needs A Replacement by Y4all: 3:17pm On Oct 25, 2021 |
Your mattress might not be the first thing you think about when you aren’t sleeping well. Your body is in the best position to tell you whether your mattress needs a replacement or not. Mattresses are like cars, they are not designed or built to last a lifetime so it’s only natural that at a point in time, they may begin to fail. Though every mattress has a different lifespan depending on the material, manufacturer, and usage. However, the lifespan of an average mattress range between 10-15 years. Just as sleep constitutes a crucial part of our daily lives which helps us to optimize good health and wellbeing. Therefore, better sleep is a good investment and we must invest in a good mattress or continue to face the consequences of a worn-out mattress. When you should replace it is not exactly rocket science, but there are some clues that are good indicators that it's time to let go and get a replacement. Your mattress is saggy, asymmetrical, or lumpy OK, this one's a given. If your mattress has visible signs of disrepair, it's time for a new one. This includes any of the following signs. Sagging in the middle or at the corners, Imprints of your body (e.g., you know exactly where your left knee is every night), Lumps throughout, big or small, Asymmetry (one side is lower, higher, softer, harder, smoother, or lumpier than the other). One way to avoid a sagging mattress, particularly if you sleep on one side of the bed, is to rotate your mattress. You're experiencing insomnia. If you're having trouble going to sleep or staying asleep. It might not just be that triple-shot latte you had in the afternoon, it could be your mattress. If you can't fall asleep, or frequently wake up during the night and adjust positions, it could be an indication that your mattress needs a replacement. If you're tossing and turning at night, there's a good chance that your mattress isn't providing the proper comfort your body needs." Your mattress is noisy Does your mattress creak, groan or pop? It shouldn't, even when you're tossing and turning. Mattresses with springs and coils tend to get noisy after years of use, as the springs lose their springiness and the inner workings of the mattress get wacky. If you use a wooden or metal bed frame, rule that out first, and then consider investing in a new mattress or take advantage of the Winco Mattress Swap Deal. It takes you forever to fall asleep It should only take 10 to 20 minutes to fall asleep. If you find yourself lying awake at night, it may be time for a new mattress. Of course, you should first rule out conditions such as insomnia and anxiety, and you should also make certain that you aren't just battling your own internal clock. If you determine that you're healthy and on a regular sleep cycle, yet you still can't doze off for hours, it's time to consider getting a new mattress. You wake up with pain or soreness Unless you can definitively attribute muscle soreness to exercise or pain to injury, your mattress might be causing you to wake up achy. Keep an eye out for signs that your mattress is to blame. A stiff neck, sore lower back, and a "pinching" pain in your joints, especially your neck and shoulders. Also, consider whether the pain subsides as the day goes on. If you wake up with pain or soreness, but it's gone by mid-morning or afternoon, it is a sign that your mattress needs a replacement. You should also make sure you're using the right kind of pillow to avoid neck and shoulder stiffness. The Bottom-Line Now that you know how to tell when you need a new mattress, your next stop is Winco Foam Industries. There is no point in denying yourself the gift of a good night’s sleep. If you can check off any of these signs, it is time you really consider our mattress swap service. A good-quality mattress will seamlessly weave together comfort, enough support, and, most importantly, guarantee you enough rest from all the day’s tiredness. Don’t let yourself slowly become accustomed to a lackluster sleep. In fact, you should be treating yourself to the comfort that Winco Foam Offers. Family / What Makes A Luxury Mattress? by Y4all: 4:42pm On Oct 22, 2021 |
Luxury isn’t determined by the price. What determines Luxury is the state and quality of comfort derived. For us at Winco Foam, we recognize that comfort means different things to different people. However, when it comes to shopping for mattresses, one person’s relief from back pain may be found in a firmer mattress. While another person’s need for joint support may be found in a plushier mattress. But beyond that, for a sleep surface that you spend one-third of your life on, it’s worthwhile to give yourself a luxurious sleep experience that will relax and rejuvenate the body. So, no matter how hectic your day might be, investing in an elite mattress that ensures you come home not only to a comfortable mattress but to a mattress that promotes a good night’s sleep is profitable. What is a Luxury Mattress? A luxury mattress, as its name suggests, makes you feel opulent. It enhances your sleeping experience by going that extra mile beyond a standard mattress. These mattresses are premium category mattresses, made from quality materials and are considered to be the best in the market. So, what makes a luxury mattress a luxury mattress? The firmness of a Luxury Mattress Firmness is a subjective term. There’s no general consensus as to the level of firmness that is obtainable in a luxury mattress. Firmness per se will vary for every person because of personal preferences, body type, and sleeping position. Therefore, it is important that sleepers take out time to test each mattress to determine what level of firmness they prefer. As you can see, your sleeping position and body weight are crucial factors in choosing a luxury mattress firmness. Motion Transfer Motion Transfer is an important feature in a Luxury Mattress. Mattresses with motion isolation reduce motion transfer from one side of the bed to the other. Motion transfer has an impact on everything from uninterrupted sleep to sex to marriage. A Luxury mattress is designed to curtail motion transfer which benefits those who share a bed with another person. For such people, a luxurious mattress that isolates motion minimizes the disturbance on a sleeping partner thereby creating a better sleep environment Edge Support Luxury Mattresses are designed to keep the sleeper from sliding off the bed when you sit down to tie your shoes or have a quick chat. Manufacturers create this additional layer of support with thicker wire and more coils or with firm foam. The lifespan of a Luxury Mattress The lifespan of a mattress is determined by the quality of its ingredients and construction. On average, a mattress lasts anywhere from six to eight years. The resiliency of its components plays a significant role in its longevity. However, luxury mattresses tend to have an extended durability span largely because its construction components and constituents. Looking for opulence, exquisiteness, and style in your bedroom? Family / Mattress Protector Vs. Mattress Topper: What’s The Difference? by Y4all: 4:28pm On Oct 20, 2021 |
There is an avalanche of slumber products available that can help improve your quality of sleep, however, without understanding the benefits of each of them, it can be difficult to find one that will cater to your personal requirements best. One of the most common misconceptions is that a Mattress protector and a Mattress Protector are the same things. In fact, they are very different, from the way they feel to the level of comfort they provide with each serving a different purpose to help improve your sleeping surface. What are Mattress Protectors? Mattress protectors are thin sheets of material that cover the entire surface of the mattress. Some have elastic at the edges to cling to the mattress while others have zips. Most of the protectors are polyester or cotton, or a mixture of both. Some have other materials, for example, a waterproof mattress protector uses vinyl. As the name suggests, mattress protectors’ main uses include: Mattress Protector Uses Mattress warranties will become void if you stain them. Having a waterproof mattress protector can stop the seepage of liquid or fluid into the mattress and prevent staining. Mattress Protector prevents Allergens (dead skin cells, mold), dust mites from entering into the mattress. The durability of the mattress increases this way. A mattress protector can also act as a barrier to bed bugs, who feed on human blood. Some mattress protectors have special fabric and materials that help in regulating temperature and breathability. A mattress protector can be very beneficial to those with messy kids or pets. The mattress protector is an essential part of your bedroom. It is also budget-friendly, easy to maintain, hygienic, and various protectors come with different benefits. What is Mattress Toppers? Mattress Toppers are thick layers of materials that rest on top of the mattress to improve the support and comfort of the bed. Toppers, like mattress pads, should be under a fitted sheet. Mattress toppers are not washable because of their large size. Some toppers come with removable, washable covers. There are a wide variety of mattress toppers available and they generally have materials like down, cotton, foam, gel memory foam, memory foam, or fiberfill. As the name suggests, mattress topper’ main uses include: Mattress Topper Uses A mattress topper remedies a worn-out mattress by providing a uniform layer of comfort, a mattress topper is a perfect way to breathe new life into a shabby mattress for a fraction of the cost. A mattress topper can help alleviate some of this discomfort. Many models provide strategically placed cushioning that can relieve pressure along with your hip and shoulder bones while still providing incredible support. Just like a mattress protector, a high-quality mattress topper can also do the trick, warding off all kinds of bugs and bacteria so you can sleep in peace. The same goes for any bed-wetting that occurs, as well as liquid spills. You don’t have to breathe any of those vapors in if your mattress topper works as it should. A mattress topper adjusts how your bed feels while sleeping. You can find a topper that matches your firmness and support preferences. Mattress Toppers are easily available in Nigeria. You can get this product at the Winco foam industry. Visit their website on www.wincofoam.com or call their customer care line on 09062010211 Which one should you go for? The choice between a mattress protector vs. a mattress topper depends on your specific need. If you fear staining your mattress by being clumsy or are prone to heavy perspiration, then a mattress protector can do you a world of good. Protectors with extra comfort can offer additional support even if your mattress is old. Mattress protectors are also ideal for preventing seepage into the mattress. If comfort and support are your priorities, then mattress toppers are the answer. They can completely alter the way your old mattress looks and add an extra layer of comfort, support, and coziness giving a brand-new feel to the mattress. Toppers offer little protection to the mattress as that is not their main function. Mattress toppers can be a godsend to those suffering from back and body pain issues. They can conform to the shape of your body and provide pressure relief. Food / 7 Nigerian Food That Help You Sleep Better by Y4all: 4:52pm On Oct 15, 2021 |
Getting good sleep is incredibly important for your overall health. It may reduce your risk of developing certain chronic illnesses, keep your brain healthy, and boost your immune system. It’s generally recommended that you get between 7 and 9 hours of uninterrupted sleep each night. However, this may not be the case because many people struggle to get enough. Sleep deficiency is becoming more prevalent by the day. So instead of popping pills which can be dangerous, you can try something natural and healthy by eating healthy Nigerian food that helps you sleep better. This means that a portion of good Nigerian food can help you move from being a nocturnal creature to a sound sleeper. In this review, we shall look at some Nigerian food that has sleep-promoting properties. Bananas For many years now, Bananas are natural sleep inducers. It is just like nuts and oatmeal, Bananas also improve the levels of serotonin and melatonin. Vitamin B6, which bananas are loaded with increases your body’s melatonin levels, thereby helping treat chronic insomnia. More so, this tasty fruit contains potassium which is recognized as a normal muscle relaxant, enabling you to relieve tension and get prepared for bed in a natural, fast, and efficient way. Fresh Milk also Known as (Nunu) Fresh milk is also known as Nunu by the Fulani. People who suffer from sleep deficiency should have this drink before bedtime. Nunu is referred to in the local Hausa parlance comprises Tryptophan. Tryptophan is an amino acid found in a variety of protein-containing foods. This plays an important role in the production of the neurotransmitter known as serotonin. The role of tryptophan and melatonin in sleep disorders is well established, and studies have found that taking supplements of these compounds may improve sleep and reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression that can crop up at bedtime. Raw and Unfiltered Local Honey Apart from helping to hydrate your skin, soothe your throat, help heal wounds and sweeten everything it touches. Raw and Unfiltered local Honey can also help you get a sweet night’s sleep. It provides easy-to-access fuel for your brain throughout the night. Specifically, it restocks your liver’s glycogen. Honey helps your brain release melatonin, the hormone that your body uses to restore itself during sleep. This happens through a series of transformations in your brain. Also, honey’s sugars spike your insulin levels, releasing tryptophan, which becomes serotonin, which becomes melatonin, and which aids your muscles to relax. Sweet Potatoes Sweet potatoes are a nutritional powerhouse. They are high in fiber and low in saturated fat. Sweet Potatoes are a good source of vitamins A, C, and B6, as well as potassium and manganese which help you to relax. Whether Fried or baked, potatoes are tasty and delicious that contain tryptophan (the sleep-inducing hormone), they also retain an overall soothing impact that is useful for both your body and your mind. Walnuts Walnuts are a popular type of tree nut. They’re abundant in many nutrients, providing over 19 vitamins and minerals, in addition to 1.9 grams of fiber, in a 1-ounce (28-gram) serving. Walnuts are particularly rich in magnesium, phosphorus, manganese, and copper. Additionally, walnuts are a great source of healthy fats, including omega-3 fatty acids and linoleic acid. The fatty acid makeup of walnuts contributes to better sleep. Walnuts also provide alpha-linoleic acid (ALA), an omega-3 fatty acid that’s converted to DHA in the body. DHA may increase serotonin production. Therefore, if you struggle with sleep, eating some walnuts before bed may help. About a handful of walnuts is an adequate portion. Spinach and Almond This dark leafy green veggie is high in magnesium, which naturally relaxes the nerves and muscles, to calm the body and encourage sleep. Magnesium can also help prevent leg cramps, a common cause of nighttime waking. Additionally, spinach is a good source of calcium, which helps the brain use tryptophan to manufacture melatonin, a sleep-promoting hormone; research suggests being calcium-deficient may make it difficult to fall asleep. Almonds are high in magnesium, promote sleep, and relax the muscles. They also supply proteins that help maintain a stable blood sugar level while one is asleep and promote sleep by switching from an alert adrenaline cycle to the rest-and-digest cycle. SUMMARY Adding any of this Nigerian food to your diet may help to increase your odds of a successful slumber. Some people have trouble falling asleep. While others can’t stay asleep, some others have trouble turning life “off” and tucking into bed at a reasonable hour. Whatever the reason, the health benefits of a good night’s rest are countless. Therefore, sleep helps keep you happy, your brain sharp, your immune system strong, your waistline trim, your skin looking youthful, and lowers your risk of high blood pressure and heart disease.
