Nigerians and resolving things with violence.
Flight cancellations, delays, and rescheduling happens everywhere in the world. Even in USA, Canada and Europe, you will never see them fighting officials.
If this happens in USA, the guy may be ban from flying for life by TSA and face charges.

Better to be late or no flight than a plans crash.

Normally in other countries, they will tell you that "we are cancelling the flight due to bad weather, engine fault, issues on the run way etc" if your flight is cancelled, you are compensated sometimes with little gifts and hotel bookings for those who needs it (I'm 100% sure, especially the hotel booking). They respect and treat you well. In Nigeria, they will simply tell you that your flight has been cancelled. No reason, you can go to hell if you want. You can see the white guy gesturing to passangers to shut up. Something he can never try in a foreign country.

Ogalanyaidi,
Brother may I ask you a real, hardcore question please?
Why would you decide to want to marry an American, (a woman living in another country), while you are there in Canada where there are tons of Nigerian females and Black Canadians?
You could have easily gotten a woman in Canada...very easily (Black, African, European, Indian, Asian etc.).
Could it be though, that you had plans/dreams of coming to the U.S. to maybe further your studies once finished in Canada or to possibly work here? Did you clearly communicate that to her?

Honestly, I find this scenario quite unusual....
Cause a Black American woman, more oftentimes than not, is not going to just up and leave the U.S. to go and live with a foreigner in another country....at least not without a plan/direction. Most Black Americans don't see a concrete enough reason to leave (family, friends, job, schooling and the familiar etc) and take up residency in a foreign country....
That's like a 1-2 out of 10 chance that a female would do that.
I wonder where you met her?
I've read some of the comments and am quite appalled at how quickly the females (especially) jumped on and insulted the "akata".
But you had a role to play also. You should have gotten to thoroughly know the woman you wanted to marry...which takes time.
Perhaps sir, you can chalk this incident up to an unfortunate one....and know that in the future, you may want to enter into a relationship with the "right" motives or at least clearly communicate what you really want.
Be honest, you paid for all those things expecting a return on your "investment". Had it worked, then you would have hit the "jackpot"...so to speak.
Perhaps it's best to just date Nigerian women and hustle to get the permanent residency in whatever country you eventually determine to be the best one.
The "toilet" situation may have been just a case of a cultural misunderstanding. Black Americans and Black Africans have so much strife, ignorance and tension between each other...which is beyond saddening.
I would never...stereotype an entire ethnicity because of a number of challenged ones.

Abeg shut up and speak for ur self sis, a lady once traveld from another country to come see me and I didnt pay her flight ticket, she was even insisting on marriage cos I treated her so well but I obviously wasnt interested in marrying oyinbo. So speak for yourself, people do it ALOT.

So what should we do, go back to PDP right??....

Common naw, Nigeria is bigger than PDP & Buhari, we can collectively encourage/support another party or pressure APC to produce another candidate. Buhari is bad news, look at our economy, security. We need a progressive individual, Buhari is too weak, he went to Germany to talk about Western Germany that was disbanded ages ago. He knows nothing about governance or economy. May 29 2015 was a big mistake that must not be repeated, we need people with big ideas. Buhari is a bigot & a Jihadist, he is bad news all the way. An old tribalist is not what we need at this point.

Osinbajo should simply ignore this jealous, corrupt and attention seeking pastor. It is really shameful that some people who call themselves Christians still follow this fraudster. If their is truly a God that is omnipotent and omniscience. A God that crowns king and sanctions everything that happens on earth, then Oyedepo should stop mocking that God because with his sanction, Buhari and Osinbajo wouldn't be president and vice today.

If oyedepo is powerful, he should invoke his spiritual powers against the killer herdsmen instead of heating up the polity and increasing tension. Oyedepo is simply playing dirty politics with the dead. He will one day be consumed by the crisis he's helping to spread.

Just sut the fk up, how can you people keep supporting this wickedness? What is even wrong with you guys? Are you blind? Is this the same Nigeria that Goodluck left in 2015 despite all his corrupt tendencies? because your family lives in Lagos, you think those middle belt people do not deserve to live in their land in peace. I wonder how you guys think

HIV isn't as rampant as HbSag(hep b)...50% of the youths in Lagos have that..very deadly n no cure..doing routine checkups at least twice every year is very important

Yeap, the only difference is that with hep b, most adult live on to old age without medication while carrying hep b (like AS carriers) less than 5% or less, get ill or develop complications while for HIV, it's a life long treatment. Nonetheless, they are all dangerous & shd be avoided. I was told that many West Africans have heb b but they wont realise that because it doesnt necessarily make them ill or kill them. Moreso, they have immunization against the disease. People only discover if they get liver issue (minority of those infected get it), that is why awareness is low.

When it's laced with stigmatic, alleged, personal opinion.

The only thing of value is that hospitals in Nigeria, at least the quack one that you went to, doesn't adhere to HIPPA.

HIV is not a death sentence disease that it once was. There's no need to make fellow citizens run underground.

Your gnarled onto sexual activity as if that's the only method of catching the disease.

I did not say HIV is a death sentence and in actual fact, that someone is negative does not make you better than +ve people, neither does it mean that negative people will live longer than positive people in a country like Nigeria where THOUSANDS die every month from road accidents, Fulani Herdsmen, armed robbers, money ritualists, trigger happy police + army personnel amongst others. It is God that protects people, nonetheless, we have a moral obligation to promote this discuss. I AM NOT STIGMATISE PEOPLE, HIV is not the end of the world BUT we must keep talking so we don't record new cases. Thanks

I find the OPs approach typical of Nigerians, unnecessarily alarmist. The only thing missing is a churchy sermon.

HIV is just as easily managed as is high blood pressure, mental health, diabetes, etc

HIV can be managed to an undetectable level and partners can use prep medicine.

Stop stigmatizing people.

Dont antagonize me for sharing a personal experience, how can preaching CAREFULNESS be unnecessarily alarmist? So yes it can be easily managed, how should that stop me from performing my moral obligation of educating people? I have even forgotten about this event but it taught me to be a little more careful, I only thought I should share my experience due to that girl that posted a picture of her virgina discharge here yesterday after engaging in unprotected sex. How can sexual awareness campaign be equated to "stigmatizing people". That one is -ve does not make you better than the next man who is +ve, we just here to share experience and prevent people from getting/spreading the disease.

EsotericMonk:

Men generally have a slightly less frequency of being infected in a one-off unprotected sex with an infected partner. It can also be that way if the partner has a very low amount of the virus in his/her blood.
It also happens in a rare genetic variety of the HIV (virus), something like 1 in 10-100k or more.
You may want to try if you fall in that bracket.

smart6:

Most Men do skin to skin without contracting the virus because they are circumcised. The same outcome cannot be said for the uncircumcised.
Another reason is most married men in such relationships where wife is positive, have unprotected sex only when they want a baby, with doctor's guidance, other times with CD. Followed by regular checks by man. Most babies are also born negative if care is taken.

There was a case of a man who was +ve and his wife tested -ve, they only found out after the man went in for a test and he was told to later bring in his wife who somehow turned out to be -ve. It is not about male or female but genetics and resistance level of your immune system.

. That is serious, out of 3 people, 2 tested positive? WOW. No one is saying people shouldn't have sex but a little caution, my people. Don't mind those saying the chances of getting it from sex is less than 1%, it is a big lie.

I am not a medical practitioner but I want to believe that some people are NATURALLY IMMUNE to the virus (HIV) due to their genetics, hence you hear of cases where a wife or husband may be HIV +ve while their partner does not have. Some people have a very active immune system, so strong to resist the virus for a long period of time but not forever, these people are in the minority, probably 0000001% of the population (just guessing the percentage). 96% of the population are not that lucky.

I had a similar experience. Our security man who is an HAUSA man got seriously sick suddenly and I was mandated by my office to take him to the hospital and help to see that he is treated. Fast forward, after the whole test it was discovered that he is HIV positive and was immediately ask to join the counseling group of that day in the hospital. Men when we got there the crowd I saw was massive. I immediately call the girl I plan to cheat with that week and cancel the appointment, and from that day the spirit of cheating just vanished from me
. This thing is more common than we think, honestly. PLEASE PEOPLE MAKE WE TAKE AM EASY.

How can you say that? Sex is number 1 for HIV, by birth is second.

Forget about others. They are negligible. I talk to you as a pharmacist.
