D0nt be broke because you are building a home.

"You've managed to save 10 million, your first big savings, but the only thing you can think of doing is starting to build a duplex in your village? Tomorrow, you'll come out and say that your village people are after your business. Don't use your first savings or business money to build in your village. The house you build in your village is a waste of money; it won't return any income. Instead, it will set your business in town back. Building a house is not like buying a car. The money used to buy a car may not affect your business because it's a one-time expense. However, the money used in building a house can close your business because you'll keep spending until the house is finished.

So.my advice to you is to not use your first money to build a house in the village. If you must do so, learn how to build according to your earnings, like the example I posted.

How many rooms are in that image you posted? I love the minimalist design

This response from the company is so watery or is it the OP that edited it and make it look absurd?

They said they didn't abandon any project, yet said work was stopped due to government not paying compensation to home owners

Why going to court to stop the state government from inviting the directors? Let them go and clear their company's name na?

If they like, they can go with 100 lawyers, let them go... Why all these back and forths? So, if I give you contract and you didn't do it, I shouldn't call you to come and explain why you didn't do it?

Again, this is just a nonsense talking point. I don't know what you mean by "Owerri zone fought". Fought how? It's not that easy (and a waste of resources) to relocate an entire university. Nothing stopped all these Orlu zone governors from building universities in Orlu, since many Orlu village men with no imagination think that only universities bring urban development - even though Onitsha does not have one single university or tertiary institution of any kind (technical colleges, nursing colleges, teaching institutes etc) and is still by far the most populated and urbanized area of Anambra.

You people's Owerri envy no go kill you sha. I've said it many times in this thread that I have heard many groups of people crying marginalization in Nigeria (usually because they are forgotten, abandoned minorities in their state) but Orlu people are the first and only existing people in Nigeria that I've heard crying marginalization despite ruling the state for over 20 out of the last 25 years in Imo state (the Owerri zone ruling for less than ONE year), and having big majorities in the Imo House of Assembly. Una no get shame at all, sha and you don't know how silly you sound to the rest of us.

I've learnt to overlook the Orlu talks... How can a group of people that have been ruling for most of the state's existence still be complaining of marginalisation... It just doesn't make sense to a rational mind

Okay, let's give them this option... Since their Orlu men have refused to develop Orlu, can they help us vote an Owerri/Mbaise man in the next election, so that he can help them develop their local government?

Uzodinma - he uses Craneburg for his road projects.

You're correct about the road projects... You won't believe I spent below 30-45 minutes from Owerri to Mbaise (Aforogbe), because of the ongoing road construction... And no be say the driver speed o

I saw a literal transformation in the road beside Okeyson motors park... That place was just bushes, no road AT ALL, just some footpaths... I used to lodge in a hotel in that area and would have to follow the bush path, except whe I'm carrying load and use uber... But was surprised how a SMOOTH, TARRED ROAD was carved out of that area

Although I noticed they're trying to reduce the width of the road in some areas ... I'll suggest that they shouldn't... Anybody that built along the road should have their property removed, no selective demolition

I just dey reason how them wan do am if they reach that Egbu area wey those people don build reach express road already, reducing the road to just one two lanes... That might even be the reason Rochas didn't extend the road beyond FRSC area

Hope might not have been the choice of the people, but in terms of road construction, let's give it to him... All the house of assembly members in Imo state are just statues, nothing to their name, no project, nothing nothing... They should come and take a three months course from their Lagos counterparts

Yes. Beer.

You can even use Stout.

I’ve made a stew before with just stout.

It was AMAZING.

The key to cooking with alcohol is to ensure it cooks down well, for at least 15 mins, so that you don’t taste the fresh alchohol flavour.

It will end up with a deep, rich taste that will compliment your added spices and onions, meat, stock cubes, pepper etc.

As in, you use beer to cook stew... Thats a first for me

If I may ask, does it get one drunk the same way using weed to cook beans makes one high?

As long as it's in the east, forget it... Majority of the policemen there are only there to extort youths, with their unmarked korope and Sienna

Na this kind thing dey make boys retaliate on them... If only their families were based in the east, they would have stopped this when boys trace them home and retaliate on their children... But no, their families are always based outside the region

Before someone comes to lie and blame it on policemen from the north, not at all, the policemen into this are Igbos and from the southsouth, them no be Hausa policemen

All these Obas sef eh... It's not the committee that makes goods cost, it's those that collect ticket money.. can he dissolve those ones? A typical street trader at Iyana-Ipaja (those that display their wares along the road in the evenings) pay for about 4 tickets, as at early this year, don't know if it has increased sha... That is the main committee he's supposed to dissolve

No need to dissolve them. Government said subsidy is gone, so everybody is allowed to sell at any price they want

Or will the FG come out to say they're still paying subsidy? As long as FG stands on the fact that subsidy is gone, all independent marketers are allowed to sell at any price they want... You can't stop them

Biodun556:

LASUCOM is the college of medicine under LASU, LASUTH is the teaching hospital use by LASUCOM to teach medical students

So LASUCOM together with LASUTH will become university of medicine independent from LASU.

Thanks for this explanation, but if I may ask, does that mean LASU will not have a faculty of medicine again, since they'll be carved out to form a new University?

I love the fact Lagos is stabdardising University education, from LASUED to LASUSTECH and now this... It remains a university of agriculture, maybe somewhere in Epe

Next is to make sure departments are reshuffled... If a school is a university of education, let them concentrate on education, if it's about agriculture, let them concentrate on that... Not like some schools that are specific, but want to offer ALL courses

Also, someone should help us tell LASUED to start postgraduate programmes in Education... They already have the staff and structures on ground...

Education / Re: FG To Enforce 18-Year Age Limit For WAEC, NECO Exams by Yampotatocarrot(m): 6:12am On Aug 27
Almunjid:

Lol. What did you just call them? Children? In that case, both university campuses with their adult lifestyle and marriage are not suitable for children. You make a valid point when you say we should adopt what is right. However, we cannot allow underage children to enter environments primarily meant for adults. While some of these children may be academically gifted, they might not be ready for the adult lifestyle prevalent on university campuses. Exposing them to such environments could end up corrupting them.

There are only two options: either consider 16-year-olds as adults and allow them admission to universities, or maintain the age limit at 18 and discourage underage children from being admitted into universities.

In many cases, these children are not exceptional; their parents simply rush them through their education. Some of them don't even complete Primary 6 or SS3. Some write the WAEC as early as SS1.
While those with good and retentive memories may find it easy to acquire "knowledge", but the ability to "comprehend" and "apply" that knowledge generally improves with "maturity".

Peace!

I love the way you put forth your arguments

Can we bring this before the minister also, if we are to agree to the 18years for admission, can that same age be used for marriage and anyone marrying a girl below the age be prosecuted?

I support this move hundred percent.

I agree with you, but I believe they should be allowed to write WAEC/NECO, then admission should be what will be delayed ... It's difficult coming back to write WAEC after learning skill for two years... Let them write the exam as e dey hot for their head, then they can be sent to learn skills

Last, I want to suggest that if age condition of this nature will be enforced, age barrier for employment in all government establishments should be abolished. You cannot on the one hand make it impossible for our children to enter school early and on the other hand enforced age restriction for employment for children that will possible encounter time wastage due to ASUU strike. Your last paragraph sums it up... Of there's an age restriction to education, then age barrier for employment should be removed

Education / Re: FG To Enforce 18-Year Age Limit For WAEC, NECO Exams by Yampotatocarrot(m): 5:57am On Aug 27
2ndBase:

I'm in support of 17 years. Age 5 Primary One, Age 11 Secondary, Age 17 University, Age 21 Graduate ( for normal 4 years course). So 17 years should be fine for Writing WAEC/NECO/JAMB and University Admissions.

I think it's more enforceable if the policy affects admission, not WAEC... It'll be really difficult for a child that finished at age 16, to come back at age 18 to write WAEC and pass... Many of them will have forgotten what they were taught

However, what the government should do is made the age for admission 17 or whatever age they want, so even if the child has written the WAEC and passed, he/she can then go learn a trade before furthering to the University

It now begs the question, how is it right for girls of 14 to be ripe for marriage, but 16 isn't matured enough for university life? I don't really get it

It's clearly stated and can be seen from the video and pictures that the buses illegally blocked the road and turned it into a bus stop.

Kudos to the Lagos State taskforce... It seems they're going from local government to local government... Their presence in the evening at Iyana-Ipaja underbridge has helped in easing traffic in that axis

However, I think government needs to go beyond this to also arrest the NURTW chairmen in those areas also... Na them dey collect security and load money from these buses... That is what gives them the effrontery to block one section of the road and turn it to garage

Once the chairmen know they'll be arrested and dealt with if such occurs in their territory, they'll be the ones ensuring things are in order...

Side note: Imo state government needs to come learn from Lagos State taskforce... The entire stretch of road from Mbaise park to St. Paul Na busstop and garage... You no go even see where to pass as a pedestrian

I realized the slave-like resemblance of having to work 9-5 with only 3 weeks to a month vacation to travel so I started by creating a side hustle. I spent more than $10,000 to get certified in the side business so when I started making good money in the side hustle, I took a 4-months leave from work with pay to stabilize my business and now I have 2 registered companies with employees, my goal is to have more than 50 staffs in the next one year while I do nothing but business development and travelling.

I complained of depression and mental stress, got a psychologist counselling and letter to back me up to my employer so I got the 4 month off with pay. I have been working from home for the past 2 years though but I detest working for others except I am senior management with large yearly bonus. The whole process took about 5 years of preparation.

More than $10,000 just to get certified, and you call it a side hustle? Is it tech, please?
